Dr. Linda Isaacs' Cancer Prevention Tips - Video Clips from The Truth About Cancer: A Global Quest - Duration: 3:21.

Ty Bollinger: Let me ask you this, Dr. Isaacs, what would you recommend to people that are

watching this that do not have cancer that are wondering what can I

do to lessen my chances, to prevent cancer?

What are good basic steps that a medical doctor like yourself

would give to try to prevent cancer?

Because if I were diagnosed, let me tell you, I would be calling

you and Dr. Gonzalez.

Dr. Isaacs: Yes.

Ty Bollinger: But I do not want to be diagnosed.

And people that are watching this, if they do not have cancer they do

not want to be diagnosed.

How can we prevent it?

Dr. Isaacs: Well, a few very basic things would be do not smoke.

One would like to think that would be obvious but

there are still people out there that are smoking.

So if you smoke, stop, no matter what it is that you are

smoking, whether it be tobacco or something else, stop smoking it.

Secondly I do recommend colonoscopy like I said earlier.

It can get rid of the polyps that are early stage.

The thirdly, eat a healthy diet.

What do I mean by healthy?

I mean whole grains, organic food, unprocessed food, freshly prepared

food, raw food as much as you can.

Beyond that I really cannot be too specific because we believe that

different people need different things.

So there are some people that thrive on a more vegetarian diet

and there are other people we think actually do need some red meat in their diet.

Most people, with the exception of sugar, which we all like and

none of us should eat, most people are pretty much attracted to

the foods that are good for them, I believe.

And so usually when I see someone who would fit into our meat eater model, the people

with things like melanoma, leukemia, those types of illnesses,

when I tell them that they can eat red meat they are so

happy.

If I had to eat the diet that I was giving them I would probably feel sick because I

cannot eat that much red meat and feel well.

But that is not my metabolism.

I need something different.

So I think, vegetable juice I think is good for everyone.

I they think that having that on a daily basis is very helpful.

And beyond that it would start to be different for different people so that is about as extensive

as I can get.

Ty Bollinger: No, I appreciate that.

But what I am hearing you say is that it is an individualized approach but there are

some basic guidelines.

Like one thing I did not hear you mention is eating processed foods.

So you are not recommending anybody go out and increase

their uptake of processed foods that have a shelf life of

eight billion years, whatever it is.

Dr. Isaacs: That is correct.

And I would certainly say to avoid the unpronounceable ingredients.

Ty Bollinger: Yes, I cannot remember who it was that I was interviewing, but he said that

if there are more than five ingredients that you cannot pronounce in this

list of ingredients, do not buy it.

Dr. Isaacs: Right.

Ty Bollinger: Because he said, even he as a medical doctor, he understands what they

mean, some of them he still does not know what they mean.

So a layperson, you do not want to buy things that you do not know what you are eating.

Dr. Isaacs: Exactly.
