Hello, we are group two.

I'm Jessica Benetis, I'm Michael Lam, I'm Quintin McCune, and I'm Richard Rogers,

and we are here to talk about demand management and forecasting.

No, we don't mean that kind of forecasting.

Forecasting in the business sense is a process of figuring out how much of a product or service,

that consumers want to buy.

Businesses often use trends and judgement to predict demand.

Forecasting is rarely spot on, but it is an important tool in demand management.

Demand management is a process that seeks to predict future demand for a product or

service to facilitate planning of production to meet that demand in a timely manner.

To predict future demand, businesses need to rely on forecasting, knowledge of the market,

and experience.

However, no one can predict the future with absolute certainty.

As shown on the diagram, forecasting is a large part of demand management.

Demand management is also influenced by customer relationships.

Having strong relationships is an important aspect of both the long term and short term

prospects of a company.

Not only do you have to bring new customers, but you have to be able to retain old customers

as well.

Being able to provide the supply to meet demand is important to both foster and keep strong

relationships with customers.

When done well, demand management can greatly improve the conversion cycle's efficiency

by producing enough to meet demand while minimizing the holding costs of excess product and material.These

areas of cost can be quickly and efficiently reduced.

It also helps with planning material purchases, marketing, and making efficient use of resources.

Demand management is a way to maximize value in the conversion cycle.

When done poorly, or not all, businesses risk not having enough supply to meet demand, resulting

in lost sales and upset customers,.

Alternatively, the business may end up producing too much, resulting in higher holding costs,

wasted services, and obsolescence.

Making sure that customers have enough available resources to buy is important regarding to

the push and pull relationship between supply and demand.

Forecasting and demand management play a key role in business planning and the conversion

cycle.

Without it, businesses would be significantly less efficient.

If businesses are less efficient, it will be much hard for them to compete in their

market places and sustain their success.

From what we learned while researching this project, we learned that demand management

and forecasting plays a huge role in the conversion cycle.
