Ryan stands for Rotary Youth Leadership Academy.
Riley began in 1959 in Queensland Australia where someone had the idea of inviting accomplished
youth leaders from all parts of the country to meet with Princess Alexandra
the young cousin of Queen Elizabeth the second, so impressed with the Rotarian by
the quality of the youth leaders that they decided to make it an annual event
with each club in the district nominated youth leaders to participate in a
week-long social cultural and educational program. Ryla spread slowly
at first but by nineteen seventy the program wasn't every Rotary District in
New Zealand and Australia. In 1971 Ryla became recognized and accepted by Rotary
International and it now
exict Rotary District has the flexibility to develop their rival program with
international guidelines to put their needs. In 2005 the district 51 can rival committee
made several changes to our program and it's not the only take high school
sophomores that not only have shown leadership capabilities but also those
who demonstrate leadership potential. The reasoning behind this was defeated young
people would return to their schools that have to do adheres to use what they
learned at Camp all throughout the camp. We emphasized the four-way test and
service about self which are the guiding principle that rotary our program
teaches stages of group development communication and conflict resolution
respect and trust the goal setting decision making and finally making a
difference
the program is strictly non-religious and non-political.One of the benefits
has been in our rotary sponsored Interact Club in our district Interact
club have grown exponentially as a result. In fact district 5110 is a leader
in our nation and interact participation. As an example one of our interactive
clubs had over eighty active members. How do we put the camp together? We have a maximum
camper number of 144 they're divided into 12 person groups that are led by an
experienced counsellor we call that species groups at each designate some
type of animal for their mascot. This add fun and spirit of the
camp. We provide bus transportation to and from the camp when the cameras
arrive they are greeted by the staff and then get a rival packets and t-shirt and then
have their photos taken. After an icebreaker there then settled into their
cabin where each cabin has a trained assistant counselor. The first day begins
with a wild and crazy ice-breaker all the campers are pretty assigned to one
of the species groups and next they meet their counselor and the kids they'll be
learning with all during the week
typically each day begins with Tim classroom instruction and then it out to
the fields for hands-on learning of the day's team there are trained
facilitators that conduct the field training which left most of the day
the outdoor activities and they appear simple and basic but connected to each
other important leadership lesson each night have a campfire with stories get
and lock them just plain old camp on every day is built into it recreation
and free time that include the ball playing, sweeming, bicycling, arts and other activities or
just plain downtime. Friday is the most important day. All three groups have been
working on developing a pitch which they present on that day that pitches is the
complete development of a community service project all the campers
participate in a draft for their presentation which is critiqued by a
panel of a leader and one camper if you are that they put together what they've
learned during the week with a talent show as slideshow with campers in action
and a celebration Saturday they're given a look at photos of all the campers and
lots of shots taken during the camp names and contact information about the
campers and staff are included it's always interesting to be the kids as
they arrived on buses
many have puzzled looks on their faces some copy or if they really want to be
there after the week when it comes time to return home
difficulty getting on the bucket if they want to stay they've made new friend
that will last a lifetime
so if it all worth our time that this is an unequivocal yes our world needs good
leadership shape a brighter future and many of our ride like graduated will be
out of business leaders and maybe even political leaders make no mistake about
it these young boys and girls are our future and we must do everything in our
power to help them grow and develop to give them the best chance of reaching
their potential as a path to the next generation
Ryan I could be nothing short of a new credible and positive learning
experience if it's still around Monique reprint 2408 asked about the bell
