M9 Video 2: Elevations - Windows - Duration: 5:26.

in this video you will be continuing with the file elevations 2.dwg from the previous

video go ahead and open that now if you do not already have it open with the empty room

drawn in elevation in the previous video you are now ready to populate the drawing with

the architectural elements present in this room in this video you will draw the window

you see on the north wall before we begin move the wall lines we drew in the previous

video on the walls layer and make the purple layer active by selecting it and clicking

make current in the layers tab in the ribbon

similar to how we drew the walls in our elevation with guidelines coming down from the plan

we will do the same for the window draw two vertical lines extending straight down from

the edge of the window like so

these two lines will act as the side edges of our window next draw a horizontal line

in between the two window guidelines 900 mm above the ground of this elevation

this line will represent the bottom of the window copy this line up 1000 mm this line

will represent the top of the window the boundaries of the window are in place and you are now

ready to add window details let's start by adding a window sill copy the bottom horizontal

line 25 mm upwards and you'll have your sill in place net lets add the window frame thickness

window frames are typically 50 mm thick offset the sides of the window by 50 mm and trim

the excess lines like so

lastly add one more window frame that will divide the window in two draw a vertical line

dividing the window into two equal portions like so

next offset this new vertical line by 50 mm on both the left and the right side of the

original line and trim the excess lines like so

your window is ready great work save your file as elevations 3.dwg
