Today we are joining someone that strives for a zero-waste lifestyle
But how does this influence your daily life? And how do you do this anyway?

So you must think ahead what you want to buy and which jars you need to bring?
-Yes. We are not going to the store, but to the market
That is because you can shop there waste free, you can buy all items without plastic
I am doing this for about one year and a half now
In the beginning I thought it would be much more expensive..
but because you do not have impuls shopping anymore, like grabbing a quick snack
Because you don't have a jar, so you only buy what you need
but you will be suprised how many things you can buy without a package
for example I thought chocolate only came in a wrapper
but at the nuts stall they have pieces of chocolate and they just break off a piece
You want this in your.. -In your box?
-Yes, I want this is my box
-Are there more people who bring their own things?
-Yes! We always used to have people who did this
We used to stand in Zandvoort, my brother still is, but you have a lot of consious people over there
There always has been a group. But right now you see there is a new group who lives more consious
so it is growing -You see notice a difference over the years?
-Yes! Ik was 12 when I first stood here. I think it is great, good for the enviroment. These are the small steps right?
-In the afternoon I try to score some extra points with Maura by buying her a vegan snack
Watch out Mau! That is still warm!
But because I asked for sauce, they serve the snack with a cup. And because of that I produce waste
Oh well.. rookie mistake..
The greengrocer where we arrived is a good alternative for the supermarket
where everything is wrapped in plastic
Everything here is in crates, so if you bring you own bags you can shop without producing waste
although it is important to stay focust at the checkout
ooh my, ooh my!
No you can give it to me. I try not to use plastic
That was thrilling! I almost went wrong! -Say that! haha
Oh right, the package of Erik. He kept it with him, super cute!
Haha this really needs to end up as waste, it is too dirty to recycle as old paper
I dont know if he wants to keep it as a trophy or something.. Well this [napkin] barely makes it to the paper. But really sweet of him haha
When we arrive home we start cooking right away. To reduce waste during the preparations
Maura makes a few things herself, which you normally buy at the supermarket
like for example mayonaise -You need 1 teaspoon of mustard
three tablespoons fresh lemonjuice
an egg, and 250 ml oil
You put the mixer on the egg. Watch this, it probably wont work now
Tadaaa!
-Enjoy your dinner -Ooh! It is good Maura!
-I didnt even try it yet, so it is a complete suprise for me
-You just told that whenever you are in the store and you want to buy plastic dishes...
-Yes, you already know.. well even my boyfriend is indoctrinated as well now
even though he does not even like it: 'Maura would not be okay with this!' to buy plastic dishes for a party
In the beginning I know you where really occupied with it and I know in the appgroup
a few of the group where kind of done with it..
and I noticed you have found a better balance
-That is because I have started my own facebook group haha
I now notice you inspire by what you do, by what you show. You now say 'no, I dont need a straw'
but you are not preaching
You don't do that anymore. You just say 'I do it this way' without judging
what someone else does. And because of that you become a better conscience
which makes me think 'what do I want?'
-It changes your perspective
I have a new coffeemachine, that have these nice little cups
but they make me think 'what a trouble'
The cups are in a extra package, which you must open first and then all that waste is on my sink
it makes me think 'what a mess!' Outside I have a bag where I throw everything in
But I think 'what a silly thing, to package it extra, extra, extra'
I dont get it, why is that? -I dont think it is necessary
-Do you want me to make you a nice cup of zero-waste coffee?
-And with a great cup of zero-waste coffee this day comes to a end
