My name is Tarang and my hometown is West Palm Beach, FL.
I went to a local elementary school, then got into a magnet program middle school in
the county after auditioning to be a communications major (Bak Middle School of the Arts).
I went to my local high school after that where I spent some of my best years receiving
top class education, participating in many community service activities including fundraising
for Dance Marathon and leading organizations such as the Environmental Honor Society which
I was in for all four years.
I accepted to come to UF as a finance major, with the hopes of starting my own company
one day.
With all this in mind, the totem of the raven truly reflects who I am.
Being highly enthusiastic and a natural entrepreneur are both characteristics that I see in myself.
The totem also continues with a description of how charming comes easily to those falling
under the raven, and I could relate to that due to the nature of my friendships and every
time I meet new people.
Another trait that I share with this totem is that of being diplomatic and idealistic,
thus leading others to ask me to hear my views and opinions on almost any situation.
I always weigh both sides in an argument, considering that there will always be wrongs
that either decisions that have to be accounted for to successfully gain the support of peers
in any environment.
There are several leadership concepts that I am interested in learning including the
psychodynamic approach and adaptive leadership.
Taking two years of college level psychology in high school taught me much about the merits
of the psychodynamic approach but also that it has its issues such as a lack of much scientific
support.
I want to learn about some statistical analyses or better studies on the deriving of success
from the leader and member relationships as they certain to the productive of certain
business and organizations.
Besides the psychodynamic approach, adaptive leadership caught my eye.
It seems to be such a powerful part of a leader and follower relation, for it has the strength
to allow a team to endure the most difficult times and still not end productivity.
Being able to cope with the drastic changes that may occur quite often is a survival skill
for leaders and their followers.
I want to learn about case studies involving this form of leadership and the hardships
that need to be endured in order to bring a group of followers on the same mindset as
one individual above them.
