So, who knows. Who knows. Shhhhh.
This is a longass TBR
[BEEP]
Hey, everyone. It's me, Kathryn, and today
I'm bringing you my TBR pile for 2017.
It's been such a long time since I've
been a TBR. I think the last one I did
was for booktubeathon, which was, obviously,
last summer, erm, so, er... yeah.
So, these are the books that I want to have read
by the end of 2017. So, these first two
are part of a pile of books I received...
oooofp... two... two, maybe, three years ago for
review and I just haven't gotten round to
them so I'm hoping to get these two read
by the end of the year and they are; Tony
Macaroni by Mark T. Elliot. This is,
basically, a supernatural detective story,
and Annu by Nick Ashton Jones, which is
about... demons? Devils...? Cults? I'm not a
hundred percent sure, really, but it's
quite a beast, but I'm hoping to have
those two read and reviewed by the end of
the year. These next books are books that
I have had on my shelf for a while now
and just haven't even gotten round to
starting and I just really want to get
them read and they are; Midnight Never
Come by Marie Brennan, and... I picked
this up because I'd heard of Marie Brennan and
this cover is really, really pretty so, I-
I've had it for a while, now, and I just, I
just need to get to reading it.
The next is The Cuckoo's Calling, which
is a crime novel by Robert Galbraith, AKA
JK Rowling, and I really enjoy crime
novels so I just, I just really need to
read this. Next we have Butterfly
Burning by Yvonne Vera and this is a
book I've owned for a while now and it is
set in Bulawayo in the late
1940's and it's about a young
woman who wants to be more than the town
she lives in will allow her to be, and
I've, actually, been putting this off
because... I just have a feeling it's one
of those books that's going to break my
heart, but I do really want to read it. I think
it's about time that I got to reading it.
2017 is the time for this book. Next we have
another book that I've been putting off
because I feel like it's going to break
my heart and that is Pax by Sara
Pennypacker and this is a book set, I
think, I believe it's set during the war.
So, this is, basically, about- This is about
a young boy who rescues a fox as a cub and,
obviously, they become friends or whatever, but
then, when his dad enlists in the military,
they are for- he's forced to set Pax free
out in the wild, but he misses his fox so he
goes out searching for him and, I think,
we follow him as he's looking for Pax
and, I think, Pax has his own journey as
well so we see things from Pax's
point of view and it's set during the war
and everyone's going to die and i just- I
can't-- I don't know if I'm ready for this.
Maybe this year. Maybe this year at some
point I will be. I do want to read it
because I want to find out- I picked
this up because I wanted to find out
what happened to Pax but I'm not sure I
want to know but I still want to know so
I'm gonna read it.
I'm gonna read it this year. Next is a
book that I haven't- I don't really know
anything about. I haven't read any reviews
I haven't heard anybody talking about it
and I haven't seen it- and it was a book
I saw in Asda and I picked it up for real
cheap and it is Maystra? Mystra? By LS Hilton
I think it's like spies and
espionage stuff but, again, I really don't know.
So, I'm gonna read it this year and find out.
Then we have The City and The City by
China Mieville and I've heard that
China's writing is- his stories are very
weird and strange and maybe not for
everybody so, that got me curious and
he's writ- written some beasty books
so, this was one of the thinner ones so, I
opted for the thinner on and we'll just
see how I feel about it. And then we have
American Gods by Neil Gaiman, and I
really enjoy Neil Gaiman's writing. I've
had this for... about a year now so I do, I
do really want to get to it.
Next, we have some recent purchaches-
purchases that I want to read because I
bought them. I want to try and get back
into reading as I buy so that I don't get
lots and lots of books piling up that I
haven't read and can't talk about... and
might never read because I've still got all
these other books
to read. So, I want to get to these ones
because I've bought them recently and I've
heard good things about them. I picked them up
because I've heard good things about
them. The first one is Leviathan Wakes by
James S.A Corey. This is, what I believe-
this is, I believe, the first... the first in a
sci-fi series. I don't know much more
else about it except that it's sci-fi-y
and I know...
Sanaa from Inkbonesbooks enjoys this
series and also Victoria from victoriashaz
also likes this series and I just
don't read enough sci-fi so, I picked
this up and we'll see how that goes. Next
is another sci-fi-y book that I've heard
mixed things about actually. I know some
people really enjoy this and some people
are just a bit more meh it and that is
'the long way to a small angry planet' by
Becky Chambers, and, I believe, this is
part of a duology? I know there's another
book out that is in some way related to
this. I don't know if it's a direct
sequel or if it's just a companion novel.
I'm not sure. I don't really know much about it,
but I know my sister picked it up for me a
while ago and I was, like, well, it sounds
interesting but maybe another time, and
now I've had some things about it so I
picked it up and we'll see how I feel about
it. Then we have another one that I've
heard so much about.
I didn't hear anything about it until I
saw it myself. I picked it up and it
sounded really interesting but I ended
up going for something else, instead, that
day and, since then, I've heard loads of
good things about it and it is The Lie
of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch, the
first book in the Gentleman Bastard series,
and, when I picked it up, it really sounded
like it would be just my thing but I just...
I wasn't sure.
Now I am so I picked it up and I'm gonna read it.
I'm going to read it. And these final
books are books that I have started and
never finished... that I just really want
to get read this year. The first one is
Battle Royale by Koushun Takami. Now, I
am over halfway through this book. In
fact, I'm almost- I am almost finished with
this book and I don't even remember why
I put it down, but I put it down,
I never picked it back up and I need to
finish this so I'm going to finish this
this year.
Next is The Muse by Jessie Burton. Can I
just say, guys, I pre-ordered this last
year and it is signed, right, but have you
seen the new copies of this?
The edges are orange. Orange!
Do you see any orange on this book?
I pre- I- I- [sigh]
I may have to purchase
the paperback version of this because the
paperback has orange edges, as well so...
Coloured edges,guys. Coloured edges.
Next is The Book of Lost Things by John
Connolly. This is about a young boy who loses his mother and
his book start talking to him, and he
finds himself in a fantastical world and
that's pretty much all I know. And I've
just gotten to the part where he actually
enters the fantastical world and then I put it
down. Another book I put- I put these books down
and I have no idea why I put them down because
it's not like I wasn't enjoying it.
I hadn't read enough to decide whether I was
enjoying it or not. So this year's the year.
This year is the year.
Alright, and finally, we have a book
that is on my kindle and that is
In the Labyrinth of Drakes by Marie Brennan.
This is the most recent book in the
Memoir by Lady Trent series and, again,
this is another book that I bought as
soon as it came out, I started it, and then,
for whatever reason, I just put down
and never picked back up and I don't
understand why. I do not understand why
because I really enjoy the Memoir by
Lady Trent series and I just don't understand
why I didn't finish this.
So, that is going to get finished this year
So, those were the 15 books, guys, that I want
to have read by the end of 2017. Will it
happen? Only time will tell. But it's
totally doable, reading 15 books. It just
depends on my mood and things and some
of them are already started so...
I can do this. I will do this. I will do it.
So, those are the books that I want to
have read by the end of 2017, guys.
Thank you so much for watching. Let me know in
the comments below some books you plan
to have read by the end of 2017 and I
will, hopefully, see you in another video.
Bye^^
J: No. I'm saying it's done!
K: Oh, it's done!
J/K: There's NO SCAFFOLDING.
K: [excited squealing] There it is!
K: Oh, I've missed ya.
K: I've missed ya, Darcy.
J: See, look. It's all going up on there
K: Yeah
