so many soaps are available in the market currently.
and in our house,my husband using one company soap,
i am using one company soap
and using baby soaps to our kids
and unexpectedly i noticed these words( "toilet soap","bathing bar","tfm") on soaps
and i searched in internet about these words to know more details
in this video, i am sharing the information that i knew about these words
as per BIS(Bureau of Indian Standards),
soaps are categorized in 2 categories depending on their TFM content.
1.toilet soaps 2.bathing bars
TFM means total fatty matter
TFM is a measure (in %) for identifying the amount of fatty matter present in soap.
i.e. more the fatty material present in soap, it is good for skin.
Vegetable oils based soaps produces soft soap whereas animal fat based soaps produces hard soap.
first i am going to tell you about toilet soaps
cambridge dictionary defines the toilet soap as "a sweet-smelling soap that is intended for washing the body".
toilet soaps are categorized in three sub- categories depending on their TFM content
grade 1,grade 2,grade 3
grade 1- tfm more than 76%
.better cleaning ability
.gentle to skin.
.no fillers
grade 2- tfm 76% to 70% grade 3- tfm 70% to 60%
.grade 2&3 have large amount of fillers.
.may have bad effect on the skin
.consumed faster when gets contact with water
now i am going to tell you about bathing bars
.TFM content should be less than 60% but not less than 40%
.contains moisturising cream,glycerin etc.that's why it's price is high
.contains active surface agents
.according to BIS,it is not obligatory to mention TFM value on these
BIS passed a rule to print the following on soaps cartons/wrappers-
.name of the manufacturer
.brand name of the material
.grade of material
.net mass when packed
.month and year of manufacture
.batch no./lot no. in code
.tfm and any other ingredients,MRP etc
the people don't have any skin problem, they can opt any soap,if it's toilet soap (grade 1 is better choice than lesser one).
if you have a sensitive skin then you can patch test it,before using
