Waching daily Feb 26 2018

Nǐ hǎo (hello), I'm Bardish Chagger, Canada's Minister of Small Business and Tourism and

Leader of the Government in the House of Commons.

This year we're celebrating the Canada-ChinaYear of Tourism!

This is an incredible opportunity to grow Canada's tourism industry and showcase the

close ties between our two countries.

We've been getting ready by opening new visa application centres in China and marketing

Canada to Chinese citizens.

We want to make sure our visitors see the best of Canada – from authentic Indigenous

experiences to unique regional cuisines and once-in-a-lifetime adventures in our national

parks.

Now it's your turn!

We've set up a website full of useful information to help you welcome a record number of visitors

from China in the coming years.

We want to help you get prepared: Chinese visitors to Canada will do things a little

differently.

For instance, did you know that they're avid users of mobile payments?

Or that Chinese social media like Weibo and WeChat are the top way travellers find out

about – and book – their travel?

You can find these tips and more on our website: Canada.ca/CCYT2018

So check it out, and get ready.

From coast to coast to coast, we're getting ready to welcome a record number of visitors!

MSD Stormwater Capital Rate - Duration: 1:49.

(soft music)

- Hi there.

My name is Lance LeComb.

I'm with the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District

or MSD.

We are your wastewater and stormwater service provider

in the city of St. Louis and most of St. Louis County.

We're here today to talk about storm water services

and the results of Proposition S which was passed

back in April 2016.

Proposition S fixed really a hot mess of taxing subdistricts

that funded our stormwater services.

The result prior to the passage of Proposition S was that

our services were very dependent on where you lived

for the type of services that you received.

Bottom line, some customers who call us

with stormwater problems

and we couldn't do anything for them.

With the passage of Proposition S, though,

everybody is under the same taxing system and we're able

to provide equitable stormwater services for everyone.

In fact, since July 2016, we have fixed over 270 problems

like this throughout the area.

In addition to work like this today

of repairing broken stormwater systems,

we're also walking and inspecting creeks and streams

once every five years to remove blockages

that homeowners can't do on their own.

Now, MSD doesn't own creeks or streams.

We're not a flood control agency but there is some work

that homeowners can't do on their own,

like fix erosion problems and localized flooding issues.

That is the next step that we've taken here

in the next couple weeks when we present a proposal

to our rate commission to fund those services in the future.

MSD wants to be transparent with everything that we do

with our customer's money particularly on the issue

of stormwater.

So if you go to our website, you will see a map that we have

with all the stormwater work that we're doing

throughout our area and we'll add to that map over time

showing more of our activities.

Please visit us at our website and call us

if you have a stormwater problem

because serving you is our most important duty.
