It's Not Butter" on its cover.

Investigation has been made into Becel company, creators of "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter";

however, no links to any occult organizations have been found.

Contained within SCP-123-J-1 is a compound of oils forming into an edible substance,

designated SCP-123-J. When a subject spreads SCP-123-J on any grain product and ingests

it, they report SCP-123-J to have a taste similar to butter.

When informed that the substance is not organic butter, subjects typically report disbelief.

SCP-123-J melts when exposed to heat higher than room temperature.

When left refrigerated SCP-123-J slowly solidifies into its original, spreadable state.

SCP-123-J was originally purchased by Agent C█████ in a Safeway supermarket

located in ██████, Maryland.

Upon ingesting it through the use of a SCP-123-J-2, the Agent handed SCP-123-J to Agent F███,

urging confirmation that the substance was butter.

Agent F███ ingested the remaining portion of SCP-123-J-2 and alerted the Foundation.

Although initially suspected of misinformation, Agents C█████ and F███ were

later promoted.

MQTT OpenHAB ESP8266 Door / Window Sensor: Hardware - Duration: 5:38.

Hey guys Matt here from MKSmartHouse.com and in this video I am going to show you how to

build the door sensor.

[Intro]

So, in this video we are going to go over all the parts required for the door sensor

and then we are going to make it.

To start off with the parts we are going to need 2 2 pin pcb terminals, 1 4 pin female

header, male header strips that we can cut to length, 2 pin jumper, 10k resistor, 5v

to 3.3v regulator, ESP8266, Custom Printed circuit board more on that later, plastic

enclosure, magnetic switch sensor, 2 conductor 22 Gauge Cable, Male usb connector and a 5v

USB Wall adapter.

The wall adapter can be any usb 5v adapter like a phone charger.

For tools we are going to need a soldering iron with ST7 tip, flux, steel wire, solder,

wall tac, PCB holder, helping hands, wire strippers, small wire cutters, small flat

screwdriver and a hot glue gun.

That is everything that we will need.

The links to all the parts and tools will be in the description.

In the beginning I did say custom circuit board because to make this easier I designed

a custom circuit board so that way not only will it be very stable and have strong connections

with no guess work in assembling it but, also so I can make many of them really easily for

my house.

I have provided the gerber file in the description as well as where to get it made.

Also, I have made a video on my website showing how to order the custom circuit board from

iTead so that way there is nothing to be scared of and you know exactly how to order it.

Since all the connections are already made on the circuit board all we have to do is

solder the components on to the board.

First let's take the circuit board and put it into the circuit board holder.

If you look closely at the circuit board you will see that there are labels next to the

component slots, when I say where to put the component that is what I will be referring

to.

I like to solder from the less sensitive components to to most sensitive so, let's start off with

the 2 pin terminals, take the terminals and put them in J1 and J4.

Then take the wall tac and temporarily secure the component.

After flip the pcb so we can start soldering.

When soldering I recommend taking the flux and putting some on the on the soldering area,

so it makes a better solder connection.

Then take your soldering Iron and put it on the component and put the solder behind the

component.

Clean the soldering iron with the steel wire often.

Once the solder is cooled remove the wall tac from the component.

Great we soldered our first components!

To make this guide simple I won't repeat myself with the wall tac, flux and how to solder

instead I will just refer to the whole process as soldering.

Next take the 4 pin female header and put it into J2 and solder it in.

If the leads get long and stick out cut them with wire cutters.

Then take a strip of the male header and using the wire cutters make a header that is 3 pins

long.

Take that 3 pin male header and solder it into J3.

Now take the 10K resistor and bend one side so the two leads are parallel to each other

and solder it into slot R1.

Next take the 5v to 3.3v regulator and match up its leads to the board and solder it in.

Great now we have one component left to solder and that is the esp8266.

I recommend putting flux on every single pad of the esp8266 and of the circuit board and

then solder it in.

Now that everything is soldered take the 2 pin jumper and put it on the pins above PGM.

Next take the Magnetic Switch Sensor and strip its leads and fold them over so they are touching

the wire insulation.

Then loosen the terminal screws where it says Sensor Input using the small flat screw driver.

Now take the leads of the Switch Sensor and put it in the holes of the terminal, it does

not matter which lead goes into which hole.

Then take the screwdriver and tighten the screws.

Now we are going to make the power cable for the device so go over to where you are going

to have the device and cut how much 22 gauge wire you think you are going to need for the

device to the nearest outlet.

Then take one end of the wire and strip it to expose the 2 conductors.

Strip a little of the each conductor and then take wire boot and plastic boot of the usb

connector and slide it over the 2 conductors.

Next take the helping hands and put the 22 gauge wire in one of them and the usb connector

in the other.

Then solder the black wire to the far left pin and the red wire to the far right pin.

Now put some hot glue on the connector and slide over the plastic boot and the wire boot.

If you want you can connect the USB to the 5v wall adapter but do not plug it into the

wall.

Almost done, strip the other end of the 22 gauge cable and then loosen the two screws

on the 2 pin terminal above the 5v.

Then take the red wire and put it into the hole parallel to where it says + and the black

into the hole above the - symbol and tighten the screws.

Finally take the PCB and put it into the plastic enclosure, but don't put on the lid yet

because we still need to install its software which is what we will cover in the next video.

I know, I know it's a 'coffee' date but like, this teapot!

I have to use it.

We're having a 'tea date'.

Doesn't quite sound as good but.

April has been and gone, April's been interesting because we did have the easter break, um so

that meant that I had time off, I hate having time off.

I love uni i love the routine of it, I love having something to do.

If I'm left idle for too long I do tend to fall into a pit of sadness, which isn't very

good is it? yeah so obviously the breaks over now, i'm back to uni, um we are into directing

um the webseries that i was talking about in my last coffee date video.

Last night was the second week that we've done it.

I'm not really sure when stuff's gonna come out, but i'll probably, i'll probably link

them because there's alot of people and alot of work that goes into it, um considering

we're all uni students who have assignments and stuff and this is just something we all

volunteered to do.

I thought that what I might do from now on in these videos is also talk about the stuff

that i've made this month, the videos i've made.

we did- we did! inclusion, this is a community.

Time blinks the fifth: they always do really well, I really like that because they are

fun to film.

I don't storyboard that either um because it's just so spontaneous but it keeps my mind

really really switched on because i'm like constantly looking for stuff to film, um so

i really enjoy making them so i'm glad people like watching them.

The Vacant dream: I don't wanna sound like really like up myself or anything because

I hate that but i'm really really really excited about how that turned out.

We were actually there filming something completely different for my sisters um school art project.

What I did is whenever I had 5 minutes when she was you know, setting up lighting or she

was choosing a location to shoot or she was getting dressed in her costume, I'd run out,

get changed into that dress and go somewhere and film for my own stuff.

Her's (my sister) we only could film at night she wanted everything really dark and like

she had this big black wig and a um hospital gown and these really harsh red lights, whereas

mine is very dreamscape, overly saturated with the pink/peach/weird coloured dress,

um with the desert landscape and all the colours of the stained glass and all that stuff, and

the blue hair.

so yeah I wasn't out there to film that specifically I was just using it as an opportunity to go

and film because it's on a property that's in the middle of no where so no one could

see me running around in a pink dress.

So I did storyboard that a little bit, um I filmed it over three nights.

I had the dress, I had the camera and i was like "i'm just gonna run around and see how

it looks" and then I went home and had a look at it (the footage) and that's sort of, because

I was like "ok I like this, I want to do more of this tomorrow..".

It wasn't as planned as it may look, I don't know if it looks very planned but it was very

not.

I was very interested to hear about what people thought it was about, um I'm not going to

tell you what the story is for me because I wanna kinda leave it really open and I love

how people were like saying"I think this means this and I think this means this" I thought

that was really interesting to read how many different ways it can be read.

The vacant dream, I'm very happy with it, took me ages to find that font, I tell you

what, font searching is the most difficult process in editing fullstop, for me at least.

um "a floral arrangement" that was um just some snippets of footage that I took on my

phone, my roomate, her mum owns a floristry business and so I got to help out and I thought

"I have to take some video" because the flowers were just beautiful.

So I think, creatively I've done really well this month, I really like what I've been putting

out.

I'm definitely not finished my tea because it's a massive pot, i'll finish it while i'm

editing this, um but I hope you enjoyed your tea, your coffee, your iced water, anything.

I'll go, and I'll see you in the next video in four days, thats my schedule is you haven't

caught on already, it's every four days.

WHAT'S UP DOWN THERE IN ANTARCTICA - Duration: 7:47.

WHAT�S UP DOWN THERE IN ANTARCTICA?

It's beginning to be the case that I almost need a special "Antarctica" tab for this website,

because it seems the strangeness of stories coming out of there just keeps coming.

This week, so many people saw one version or another of this story that I know they

were thinking what I am thinking: could this be the reason for the strangeness of the stories

about the place lately?

Possibly.

But before we get to all that, a brief memory refresher.

Regular readers of my books and of this website know just how peculiar Antarctica really is,

not so much because it's covered in ice, and is inaccessible, but rather because a very

strange list of people are associated with it, and with those people, there are also

strange stories.

By now, we can probably recite the list of strange people associated with Antartica by

heart:

(1) Rudolf Hess, (2) Hermann Goering, (3) Admiral Byrd, (4) King Juan Carlos, (5) Prince

Harry (or was it William... they all look the same), (6) Secretary of State John Kerry,

(7) the Patriarch of Moscow, Kiril III, (8) Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin, and, lest

we forget, the elements of the Russian Baltic Sea Fleet are scheduled for a visit.

The stories have been almost as strange as the list.

Admiral Byrd and Operation High Jump, as readers here know, returned from an expedition to

the continent that was supposed to have lasted months, after only a few weeks.

Along the way back home, Byrd reportedly gave an interview to a reporter for El Mercurio

of Santiago de Chile, in which he warned that the United States would have to prepare to

defend itself against "enemy fighters" (leaving the enemy unspecified) that could fly from

pole to pole with tremendous speed.

And of course, there are the stories of secret Nazi flying saucer bases under the ice (a

story I've never bought, incidentally), a couple of Adolf Hitler survived in Antarctica

stories.

President Clinton contributed his own bizarre story by holding a press conference during

his administration about a meteor from Mars that was allegedly found in Antarctica, which

meteor also evidently contained microbial sized fossilized life.

As if it couldn't possibly get any stranger, there were also those stories several years

ago that the Russians had "found something" near their installations at the vast under-ice

lake Vostok; there were emergency evacuations at that time of people becoming suddenly sick

(which of course fueled the rumor mill); perhaps the weirdest of all the stories was that the

Saudis found something during an excavation around the Grand Mosque at Mecca, something

which so terrified them that they turned it over to the Russians, who promptly (so the

story goes) took it to Antarctica where Patriarch Kiril "performed ancient rituals" over it.

Well, needless to say, I don't buy that story either (the part about the Saudis finding

"something" and then turning it over to the Orthodox Christian "infidels" just isn't washing

with me), but I mention it for the sake of completeness.

Then Buzz Aldrin decided, within mere days of Secretary John Kerry's visit, to visit

the southern continent, and before boarding the flight in South Africa that would take

him there, he tweeted he was getting ready to "go to the launchpad," a statement that

I pointed out at the time could be taken as "astronautese" for boarding the airplane,

or that it might mean that Antarctica was the "launchpad."

Then, while in Antarctica, Aldrin gets sick, and has to be evacuated.

A variant on the story also had him tweeting that what had been discovered was some "absolute

evil."

Oh, and let's not forget, Lockheed Martin of Black Projects Fame also has a presence

in Antarctica.

Buzz Aldrin, John Kerry, Kiril III, Herman Goering, Rudolf Hess, and Lockheed Martin.

That's quite a line-up.

The stuff of a bad Hollyweird B movie.

Well, now we might finally have a glimpse of what all the ruckus has been about:

Mysterious shapes and patterns discovered in Arctic and Antarctic sea floor

Of course, there is the usual blather that all this represents nothing strange or bizarre

at all: all those polygons and so on are merely what happens when minerals and ice freeze.

No argument from me.

But of course, this doesn't really explain why Mssrs Kerry Kiril and Aldrin would be

so keen to visit beautiful scenic Antarctica.

I suspect, however, in the case of the second image, that the freezing-polygon explanation

falls "a little short," for I don't know about you, but something sure looks artificial to

me.

And - what the heck - I'm willing to crawl out to the extreme end of the twig of speculation

on this one, and say that my first thought, when I saw this picture, was that it looked

like an electrical coil or installation of some sort.

We're given no idea of the scale of what we're looking at, but it looks like "input, coil,

output" to me.

In short, it looks like a "something", and that certainly would account for Kerry, Aldrin,

Kiril, and Lockheed-Martin and the Russian Baltic Sea fleet.

The real question is, did Hess and Goering have similar information, and if so, how did

they come by it?

MQTT OpenHAB ESP8266 Door / Window Sensor: Demo - Duration: 2:35.

Hey guys Matt here from MKSmartHouse.com and in this video I am going to give you a demo

of the door sensor we will be creating.

[Intro]

So what is this door sensor exactly well, it is a sensor that connects to our openhab

server through MQTT and tells it the state of the door.

If I pull out a mobile device and open up the openHAB app you can see that I now have

two things in the security.

The first thing is a switch that says "Security System" and what it does is control whether

the server sends out notifications if a device is tripped.

The next item is the door sensor and this one is labeled as "Side Door".

This item shows me the current status of the door.

Right now I have the Security System switch on and the door is closed.

I locked my mobile device and as you can see if I open the door I get a notification.

Now, if I go back to the openhab app and turn off the security system, you can now see that

if I open and close the door I am not getting notifications but the device status is still

changing.

Next, I am going to show you around the device starting with it already mounted.

Starting from the top we have the magnetic switch sensor, and this is the part the determines

if the door is open.

Next we have the control box and then if we keep going down is its power wire connected

to an outlet.

But, let's take a closer look at the control box.

It is all housed in a nice plastic enclosure with two holes for screws, in the final installation

video I explain that I am going to mount it differently.

Anyway if we open it up we can see the Custom PCB and its components.

First up at the top right is the communication port and this is how we are going to program

the device.

Next to that is the 5 volt input that will come from the power adapter.

To the right of that is the mode switch and we use this to either put the device into

program mode or in run mode.

In the top left there is the input for the magnetic switch sensor.

Underneath that is a resistor and a 5 volt to 3.3 volt regulator because the ESP8266

uses 3.3V speaking of if we flip the board over we will see the esp right in the middle.

The esp8266 is the whole brains of the device and it is what connects to the openhab server

through mqtt That's it that is the entire device!

In the next video I will show you all the hardware we will need and how to put it together.
