Hi, I'm Adam Crouch,

Chair of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Health Care Complaints Commission.

Thanks for dropping by our website today.

The Health Care Complaints Commission, or the HCCC for short, is an independent body

that investigates serious complaints relating to health service providers in New South Wales.

And it's our job on the Committee to monitor and review the HCCC's processes and handling of these complaints.

We then report back to Parliament on how well we think the Commission is doing

and recommend any changes we think will help improve its performance.

We review the HCCC's performance by examining its annual reports

and conducting inquiries into matters relating to the Commission and its functions.

As part of an inquiry the Committee may seek written submissions from the public

asking for your view on a particular matter.

We may also hold public hearings where we hear evidence from witnesses and seek advice from experts.

Anyone can view these public hearings, either in person here at Parliament or streamed live on our website.

It's important to point out that it is not the job of the Committee to investigate complaints

against health service providers or to reconsider any findings by the HCCC.

If you have a complaint about a health service provider you need to lodge it with the HCCC, not the Committee.
