Hello everyone, my name is Muriel Tate
and this is an informative video
discussing about the career path as a
real estate sales agent.
What is a real estate agent and what are
their responsibilities?
According to Investopedia, "Real estate
agents are licensed professionals who
represent buyers and sellers in real
estate transactions." Some example sales
agent hold responsible for are: They are to
solicit potential clients to buy, sell,
and rent properties, they are to compare
properties to determine a competitive
market price, they are to generate lists of
properties, they are to take prospective
buyers or renters to see properties, and
so on. Requirements to become a sales
agent. To become a real estate agent in
the state of California, there are
licensing requirements before earning
your real estate license. A sales agent
must be at least 18 years of age,
complete 135 hours of required education
in Real Estate Principles, Real Estate
Practice course, and one additional state
approved course. Then they must apply for
the Salesperson Exam/License application,
then they must do a fingerprint and
background check, and finally pass the
California Salespersons License Exam.
After all these requirements have been
completed, you are now officially a
licensed real estate agent for the state
of California.
Continuing education as a real estate
agent.
There are continuing education
requirements for a sales agent to
partake once they need to renew their
original license for the first time. In
the state of California, a sales agent
must complete 45 hours of approved
continuing education classes such as
Ethics, Agency, Trust Fund Handling, Fair
Housing, and Risk Management. An agent
must also complete 18 hours consisting
of consumer protection and the remaining
in either consumer service or consumer
protection.
My ethical approach, the virtue approach.
According to Santa Clara University, "The
virtue approach to ethics assumes that
there are certain ideals toward which we
should strive, which provide for the full
development of our humanity. These ideals
are discovered through thoughtful
reflection on what kind of people we
have the potential to become." When I use
the virtual approach in my situation,
this is my example. I used to work in the
theater job where a customer asked me a
question before buying his ticket, "Was
the musical any good?" I responded with,
"I have not seen it myself so I am not
able to respond to your question." I
approached this question with an honest
based answer, which is considered as a
virtue approach.
Pros and Cons as a real estate agent
There are Pros and Cons to every career
choice. Some Pros and Cons for our sales
agent are, for the topic you're your own
boss, a Pro for that would be, a sales
agent has control over their own hours
and freedom of time and movement. A Con
for that would be, a sales agent is
working when everyone else is off. Most
of your customers have 9-to-5 jobs,
so they'll likely sign a contract or
do a walkthrough in the evening.
Another topic would be, in real estate
this dynamic. A Pro for that would be
when the real estate market is booming,
everything feels great in the world. You
feel as if you have the best job in the
world. A Con for this would be, everything
impacts the housing market. The
employment outlook, the stock market, and
the time of year affect the housing
market.
Sales Agent Field Trends. According to
the United States of Labor, "Employment
data on 2014 for real estate agents is
about 337,400, and the projected growth
on 2024 is about 346,800,
within a ten-year span, the job
growth will increase by three percent and
gain 9,400
positions." The statistics show that agent
job growth is not declining but is
slower than the average for all other
occupations. Modern times calls for
advanced technology. Since most people
use the Internet before purchasing real
estate, an agent needs to be more
technologically skilled.
