More-ish - Duration: 6:31.

[Victor Yau:] This is Victor Yau and you are watching Michael on WhatImDoingRightNow.

[ Mechanism whirring ]

[Michael Aranda:] I feel rather unwell this morning...

so that's fun.

But, uh, it's time to go to a panel.

[Michael:] There's the RAI.

[Driver:] Yeah.

[Michael:] When I get there I'm supposed to look

for a place called the Greek Lounge.

[Driver:] And there are all people― [Michael:] Okay.

[Driver:] to pick you up and to bring you― [Michael:] They will tell me where to go.

[Driver:] Yes.

[Michael:] Okay.

[Driver:] Bye! [Michael:] Thank you very much!

[Driver:] Okay.

[Attendant:] Welcome! [Michael:] Hello!

[Attendant:] Hi! [Michael:] I have to find the Greek Lounge.

[Attendant:] Greek Lounge? [Michael:] Yes.

[Attendant:] Is there a Greek Lounge?

[Michael:] I, ah, apparently.

I'm supposed to do a thing in like seven minutes.

[Attendant:] Okay well― [Michael:] I'm very late.

[Attendant:] ―let me get you to the― to the check-in.

[Michael:] I made it. I made it.

Hi!

[Pamela Horton:] Hi!

I'm Pam by the way.

[Michael:] I'm Michael.

[Pam:] Nice to meet you.

[Michael:] I slept for two and half hours.

[Off Camera:] Uh-oh.

[Michael:] Jet-lagged... like crazy.

[Pam:] Did you get in last night?

[Michael:] Got in yesterday.

[Pam:] Holy crap!

[Michael:] This is backstage.

I'm Michael Aranda.

[Stagehand:] Okay.

This one.

[Michael:] Thank you.

That's my microphone.

[ Crowd applauding and cheering ]

[Michael:] My name is Michael Aranda.

I'm a host on SciShow…[ Crowd cheering ]

and I work on Crash Course.

[ Dance music ]

[ Crowd cheering ]

[Michael:] Alright we did it.

We did it.

[Michael:] Look who I just found.

[Hannah Witton:] Hello.

It me.

[Michael:] It her… [Hannah:] Hannah. [ Laughs ]

[Michael:] Hannah.

Charlie has brought me, is this a Stroopwafel?

Is that what this is called?

[Charlie McDonnell:] I think so. I could be butchering that.

[Michael:] Okay.

It looks, ah, interesting.

I would eat more of those.

[Charlie:] They're very moreish.

[Michael:] So this is the featured creator lounge.

It's where featured creators lounge around.

Someone's vlogging right there.

There's a door over there that goes into the Calvin Klein room...

where you can get watches, and take a picture where they show you your aura.

Charlie's girlfriend went in there

(laughing) like 15 or 20 minutes ago

to get a picture of her aura taken.

It's taking a really long time.

[Michael:] Are you ready for your panel?

[Stefan Chin:] I wish it was at 2:30.

I'm tired.

[Michael:] The panel I was on... went well, I think.

Everyone on stage had some good things to say.

There wasn't a Q&A session at the end of it though,

which I was a little bit disappointed by,

'cause usually those are my favorite parts of doing panels.

[Michael:] Emily came back after getting her aura done.

We were worried about you 'cause it was taking a really long time.

[Michael:] Ohhh.

So you got some purple, some green, some blue.

This tells you what they mean?

[Emily Ruth:] Yes.

Purple is... visionary, unconventional, non-judgemental,

playful, loves to be inspired and delight others,

and then the blue means... intuition, depth of feeling, trust,

—I mean it's basically all good things.

[Charlie:] So what don't you have?

[Emily:] Strength…

[Charlie:] You're not strong?

[ Michael and Charlie laugh ]

[Michael:] Charlie—

[Emily:] I'm not highly intelligent apparently.

[ Charlie laughs ]

[Michael:] Does she love to be inspired?

Is that true?

[Emily:] I actually hate to be inspired.

[Michael:] Hmmm.

[Dr. Shini Somara:] Hi!

[Michael:] Hi.

Welcome.

[Shini:] Are you video-ing?

[Michael:] Yeah.

Everything.

[Michael:] Stefan's about to host a SciShow workshop,

where we work through

how to make a SciShow video from beginning to end.

[Audience member:] You'll just need to just talk first.

[Stefan:] And I can just talk?

[Various audience members:] Yeah.

[Stefan:] I can project!

[Michael:] Hello.

What if you use this microphone instead?

[ Stefan gasps ]

[Stefan:] Ummm, hi.

How's everybody doing?

Um, so... we are gonna kinda talk about making a ScisShow video.

We have a bonus Michael Aranda, today.

So kind of be behind the scenes and

kind of be tutorial and I'm gonna kinda go through it and...

uhh... try to leave a lot of room for Q&A.

[ Dance music ]

[Michael:] I found some... some people from the community here.

[Rebi Kónya:] Hiii!

[Michael:] Hello.

There were some more, but they went to go jump in a bouncy castle.

[Rebi:] Yup.

[Michael:] Like ya do.

[ Rebi laughs ]

[Michael:] So, here we have Paula

and... Jay Tea.

Wha, whah, I don't know how to say your—your f—

[Jörn Teuber:] That's correct.

[Michael:] but—

[Rebi:] Your real name.

[Jörn:] I have a real name.

[Michael:] What's your real first name?

[Jörn:] Jörn.

[ Paula laughs ] [Michael:] So Jay Tea...

[ All laugh ]

[Michael:] And you're German, you are Dutch.

You're dating, and I think it's interesting that,

because of that, to communicate with each other

you have to use not your native language.

[Paula:] Yes, exactly.

[Jörn:] Yes.

[Stefan:] I didn't realize that's what was happening!

[Michael:] Yeah.

[Michael:] Does that make it difficult to communicate sometimes?

[Jörn:] I have difficulties communicating in German as well, so...

[ Laughter ]

[Michael:] I feel like you have to be really really fluent

sometimes to very nuanced... conversation going,

and especially in relationships having very nuanced

conversations seems important.

[Jörn:] Eh.

[Paula:] Yeah.

[Michael:] Eh.

[Michael:] You attractive.

Me attractive.

[ All Laugh ]

We make out now.

[ Laughter ]

[Michael:] Everybody's very tired.

It's— What time is it?

My watch is dead.

[Stefan:] It's 7...

[Michael:] 7? [Stefan:] 30.

[Michael:] 7:30.

Umm [ Laughs ] Stefan is in sleepy mode.

I am in almost sleepy mode.

I'm trying to get my watch off,

'cause my watch needs to charge...

I'll just—that—there we go.

Okay.

[Michael:] Stefan's mom wanted to have food with us,

but we were to sleepy to go hang out.

[Michael:] I feel like I wanna do something, but I'm too tired to do anything.

[Michael:] There is a bunch of fans down there

waiting for people to come in and out of the hotel.

'Cause they have a water taxi that goes from here

over to the convention center.

[Michael:] Michael Morgan just sent me a message asking if we were going to get food soon.

[ Pleasant piano music ]

[ Dance Music ]

[Michael:] I fell asleep, [ Laughs ] and now it's uh...

2 in the morning.

In what time zone is it a reasonable hour to be waking up right now?

Moscow maybe?

'Cause it is 2 am here, and like 6 pm back home.

I'm going to be in Amsterdam long enough

to just mess up my sleep schedule,

and then go back home.

[Michael:] I'm very hungry and it took me a while

to find a place that was still open in Amsterdam.

This place, 24/7 Pizza, seems like it took my order.

I'm not totally sure though.

It's being kinda janky like this.

[ Knocks on screen ]

[ Dance Music ]

[Michael:] I've decided that an hour later seems like

the pizza order did not work, so I'm gonna go ask

the front desk person what they think, uh...

I should do about food.

[Michael:] My plan has been foiled by the fact that

there is currently no front desk person.

Catastrophism: A New History for Planet Earth | Space News - Duration: 7:58.

Welcome to Space News from the Electric

Universe, brought to you by The Thunderbolts Project at Thunderbolts.info.

In this series, we have recently presented reports that challenge some of

the bedrock beliefs about the history of our planet, our solar system and the

universe as a whole. When it comes to our own world, the fundamental belief system

shaping all of modern geology and astronomy is uniformitarianism or the

notion that changes in nature happen incrementally over eons of time. It's the

position of The Thunderbolts Project that evidence from increasingly fine data in

numerous specialized fields only confirms the hypothesis of recent

catastrophic events on our planet and in the inner solar system. In this episode,

Bishop Nicholas Sykes explores the question, is our history far different

from that which official science proposes? My previous videos, in this

series, have considered the serious possibility of the science of the modern

schools; being wrong in areas of cosmology and physics about such diverse topics

and phenomena as black holes, the Oort cloud, the composition and genesis of

comets, the model of magnetic reconnection, the way the sun and other

stars are powered and Einsteinian relativity including its restriction of

the speed of gravity to the supposed maximum possible speed of

electromagnetic radiation in vacuo. Science, however, is a broad subject.

Indeed, one might adduce from the above and far from exhaustive catalog of

contradictions that my colleagues and I are claiming that the whole enterprise

of science is flawed in principle. It is necessary to deny that deduction,

categorically. In my view, what we are claiming is that human intellectual and

moral error have, especially during the last 100 years,

brought about grave flaws in that intellectual structure that, in the

second decade of the 21st century, is being presented in the schools and in

the media as settled science. One basic mistake is to ignore the reality that

any science may only be regarded meaningfully as settled, and only

tentatively at that, when its various theories continue to be open to being

tested by experiment and observation. Any science theory, claiming that further

investigation into it is closed, has by that claim unsettled itself. If some

new observational or experimental discovery is considered to disturb what

was formerly regarded as settled, then the true scientific method will seek to

find further resources of observation or experimentation to investigate the issue.

Too often one perceives those in their settled science castles, pulling up the

drawbridges; as if new observations, experiments and science models must be

science's enemies, rather than having the possibilities of bringing health and

renewal to the great structure of science and science education that our

generation is called to bequeath to the future. One of the most long-standing,

such settled science castles, is that model of the earth's history that may be

referred to as Lyellian uniformitarianism. Charles Lyell, 1797 to 1875, who preceded

Charles Darwin, 1809 to 1882, and upon whose thought Darwin came to draw.

Accepting, one supposes, the Newtonian impression of a solar system that had

run like clockwork for all of history, laid down the view that whatever past

changes had ever been brought about in nature, would have been essentially no

different than what was observable in the present. And it seemed obvious that

in the present time natural changes were slow. Lyell's model of natural change, in course

of time, overtook older models of catastrophic change accepted by many

researchers and particularly by Georges Cuvier, 1769 to 1832. In more recent times,

models of punctuated evolution have been proposed by Stephen Jay Gould and others

but the conditions driving such punctuation are still assumed to have

occurred only in periods of time before humans existed. It is therefore by no

means altogether, surprising that the Electric Universe model; which envisages

catastrophic changes, not only before the advent of man or even only in man's

prehistory but actually within the historical period; has found the

drawbridges being drawn up against its advance into the halls of academia.

Catastrophe that is long ago and far away is one thing but the possibility of

catastrophe within human history is quite another. Once we accept that, who

knows what the geological clock might begin to reveal about our own history or,

indeed, suggest about the future. Notwithstanding all this, the model of

Lyellian uniformitarianism, if we are prepared to be scientific about the

matter, should, in the name of science, be subjected to fresh scrutiny. Might not

the EU model, which does encompass recent catastrophic change, be a means of

renewing the science of our current geological and evolutionary outlook? For

the science story of our own day, sticking to a centuries-old

uniformitarianism, has given us the mantra of no natural catastrophes for

billions of years. The Electric Universe account, on the other hand, tells that

such catastrophes must have occurred even within the lifespan of humanity. Let

us, at the very least, put the two accounts head-to-head,

ponder the matter and learn.

Israelis: Are you the descendants of Biblical Israelites? - Duration: 8:54.

Do you think that the Israelis of today

are the descendants of the Biblical Israelites

Of course

Why?

Why not?

Tsipi Raanana

Because they are the descendants of the Israelites

So you think that people came from Poland

Morocco and Iraq

but their roots were from

are from here

That's what I think

That's what I believe

So is it belief or..

I think but I don't know

I don't know for sure

Can I say that you are an anti-Zionist?

Me

I am anti-Zionist

Haim Jerusalem

I want to live here in the Land of Israel

without the state we don't need the state

The state spoils things

But we are in the Land of Israel

The Land of Israel

But the quetion to you as an anti-Zionist

do you believe that you

are a descendant of the Israelites of the Bible?

Of course

How do you know this?

What do you mean? I don't understand the question at all

There are those who say no

No to what?

That European Jews for example

converted hundreds of years ago

There are also converts

But there are roots

Look, in my family we have

from Abraham our father all the way to me

You have a chain of people

that you know of? - Yes

Of course, I have it written out

in my home with every (generation)

King David? - back to Abraham our father

Back to Abraham our father - Yes

Do you see yourself as the descendants of the Israelites?

Yoav Yehud

Yes

Do you have any proof? Why do you believe that?

I am a Jew

and my family has a Jewish heritage so I believe it

Miri Alfei Menashe (West Bank settlement)

Sure

It never changed

It has been every generation

without change

Jews never mixed with anyone

So why... You are Ashkenazi, right?

Of course

So why are you lighter skinned and someone who came from Iraq

is darker?

That's because they were there (Iraq)

There are lots of Jews

There are also many dark Ashkenazi Jews

True

He is Ashkenazi on all sides

and he has darker skin

and his brother is also dark

and so is she (pointing at a friend of mine)

But she is not Jewish

There was some fringe mixing

but in general we are the descendants of the Israelites

the first and second temples

Do you believe that you are a descendant of the Israelites?

David Jerusalem

Thank God, without any doubt I am a son of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob

Every generation Father, grandfather

We know that there was never any change in this

we live the same Torah that we were given 3000 years ago

the same Torah that gave us our traditions

we all do this whether we are Jews from Yemen or Europe

that is the Torah we received from Abraham, Isaac and Jacob

In the past 200 years there were some changes

that some Jews stopped following the commandments

But everyone knows that we are the descendants of Abraham

that were there for the Holy Temple and the giving of the laws at Sinai

Thank you

Koren Yavne

the Israelites

Israelites

Actually I am an atheist

I take all the Bible stories

not as historical stories

they are not so reliable

I don't think it...

We can't really tell, can we

because we don't have not that I know about

DNA

from an Israelite

who died

2000 years ago

So we can't really know

So why do you live here?

I was born here

I have Israeli citizenship

citizenship

I am pretty much stuck

because I am Jewish

by certificate

and its really hard to find

some countries

developed countries

to have you

because you are from Israel

It's really hard for the citizens that don't want to be here

My mother's side

from Morocco and Poland

and my father's side, Morocco

If I want better

what I think is better for my children and my family

I don't think I can find it in Morocco

I think I can find it in

countries that don't take

religion with so much difficulty

Religion, I don't think has room in our world

it's a developing world

and religion just takes us back

with sexism

and violence

Every religion has their god

and every god is the right god for them

and actually we are just born

in the location where

"the right god is"

And I don't think it

has to be such a meaningful idea

in yourself

it can may be a good start for the kids

It's like Santa Clause or Harry Potter

actually they just need to know the truth

and be a better person not because God said

because you want the world to be a better place

Do you think that today's Israelis

are the descendants of the Israelites?

Yossi Beer Sheva

Are Israelis the same as the Biblical Israelites?

Not at all

No? - Yes, yes

No

We aren't like them at all

- You aren't from the 12 tribes?

So you are not from the People of Israel?

I am but we don't act like them at all anymore

I don't mean in behaviour

I mean genetically

Ah, yes, of course

What of course?

Explain

It's like he said - What did he say?

That we are a part of the 12 tribes

So you do believe that

But in our behaviour, we are not

like them. Why?

What behaviour?

We are different than them, no?

I am saying we are different than they were

How?

Give an example

Let me think

Is the goal to be more like them?

That's what you mean?

Yes

Alexander Bnai Brak

Of course

Because it goes from generations from father to son

thousands of years nothing changed

No one made it up on the way

There might have been converts, I don't know

I am not strong in history so much

I believe, not because I know but because I believe

We have historical trees going back hundreds of years

not thousands of years but I believe it goes back

- King David

From King David

King David has relations

Not me but some people know this

My train is coming

Hearthstone - Is Power Creep a GOOD Thing? - Duration: 6:23.

Whats up guys its me Jeremy!

As more and more cards come out and Hearthstone gets older and older as a game, power creep

is definitely something that deserves to be talked about.

For those who might not be familiar with the term, there's basically two kinds of power

creep.

There's direct power creep, which means Blizzard makes a card that's strictly better

than an already existing card.

For example magma rager and ice rager.

There's also indirect power creep, which deals more with the power level of expansions.

Most people, for example, would say that Mean Streets of Gadgetzan has stronger cards on

average than an expansion like The Grand Tournament.

Now we're going to be focusing on indirect power creep in this video so let's jump

right in and talk a little bit about the power level of different expansions, and whether

increasing or decreasing that power level is good or bad for the game in general.

So to take a look at power creep across expansions, we need two to compare so we can kind of illustrate

our point.

League of Explorers and One Night In Karazhan are two pretty good ones to compare, since

they were adventures that came out one after the other, and they're pretty small sets

so it's easier to analyze them.

Now we can sort of count the cards that were played in high tier constructed decks or made

an impact in constructed at some point in the meta.

This makes a lot more sense to do over time, since right now not a lot of cards from either

expansion are being played.

Now this isn't a perfect analysis or necessarily one to draw conclusions from or anything,

but the difference is pretty big so it's definitely worth comparing.

So let's start with League of explorers since it came out first.

LOE had: Mounted Raptor, raven idol, desert camel, ethereal conjurer, forgotten torch,

anyfin can happen, keeper of uldaman, excavated evil, entomb ,museum curator, tomb pillager,

unearthed raptor, tunnel trogg, reliquary seeker, dark peddler, cursed blade, fierce

monkey wh, rafaam, reno, elise, brann, finley, jeweled scarab and huge toad.

That's 24 cards that were played in high tier decks at some point in the meta, and

while a few of them might not have been incredibly impactful, the majority are really strong

meta defining cards.

So what about One Night in Karazhan?

We have menagerie warden, enchanted raven, cat trick, cloaked huntress, kindly grandmother,

firelands portal, babbling book, ivory knight, priest of the feast, swashburglar, maelstrom

portal, spirit claws, silverware golem, malchezaar's imp, ironforge portal, barnes, the curator,

arcane giant, book wyrm, and netherspite historian.

This list features 20 cards, which is only four less than League of Explorers, but there's

a lot more stretches and less impactful cards on this list compared to league of explorers.

Additionally looking specifically at the legendaries, only two from Karazhan were really playable,

and the curator was never really great while barnes has fallen off a lot in the new meta.

In contrast, the only LOE legendary that was questionable was Rafaam, but it still saw

play, reno is probably one of the most meta defining cards ever, finley has seen consistent

play in a variety of decks, especially aggro, brann has also seen consistent play, and elise

has been in and out of control warrior a ton and dominated the meta at one point.

Additionally pretty much every class in League of Explorers got some decent cards, whereas

in Karazhan there were a lot of really bad filler class cards like purify, deadly fork,

protect the king, and many others.

So what's our point here?

Well Karazhan likely could have been a much better expansion with an overall higher power

level of cards.

Because a lot of the cards were pretty bad to average, and even most of the good cards

were playable but not insane, it caused the expansion to have somewhat less of an impact

than it could have.

LoE saw the release of a lot of powerful cards and so ended up affecting the meta a lot more.

Now, power creep is no replacement for exciting design nor is it necessarily a good way to

make sure that fun and wacky cards see play and that the meta is balanced.

But overall, if Blizzard is too careful with the power level of an expansion, that expansion

tends to have very little effect on the game.

Because at the end of the day if the cards suck, no one will play them, and if Blizzard

tries too hard to avoid power creep, you can be left with a dull expansion with little

effect on the meta.

The Grand Tournament for example, feature the joust and inspire mechanics, which were

really cool mechanics, but because Blizzard tried so hard to be balance them, they ended

up not seeing a ton of play.

And that's a real shame because those mechanics are really sweet and definitely could have

had a ton of impact if they just had more pushed cards with those keywords.

As it is you pretty much have to go play arena to be able to enjoy those mechanics.

Now obviously it's too much to ask to have every card be great, and Ben Brode has some

really good explanations as to why bad cards are necessary for a card game to have, but

at the very least each mechanic should feature at least a few cards that Blizzard wants or

expects to get played in constructed.

Those are some of our thoughts on power creep and the changing power levels of expansions

and cards, how powerful do you want Blizzard to make cards?

Let us know in the comments!

And it looks like that's gonna be it from me, if you enjoyed the video drop a like,

subscribe if you want, thanks for watching, and I'll see you guys next time!

iPod Retro (Apple Parody) - Duration: 2:36.

When we first started making the iPod,

only cool, young tech enthusiasts were

using them. Nowadays everyone and their

uncle is using an Apple product. Which

is why we decided to take you back with

the iPod Retro. We first came up with the

iPod Retro when we were looking at way

too many "Back in My Day" memes. Then, it

all went downhill from there. Customers

always want us to make the UI easy to

use, so to keep it super simple we got

rid of the screen all together. You're

welcome. Can you put your iTunes library

on it? Of course not. We are introducing a

new revolutionary technology we like to

call amfm. On there you can listen to

your favorite songs, podcasts, and all the

other ones you don't care about. To find

your favorite music, all you have to

do is turn the convenient dial on top of

the iPod Retro to your favorite station-

and hope the song hasn't played already

because they only play in real time. We

want our customers to not even worry

about losing or breaking cables, so the

iPod Retro doesn't even use them. Instead,

we decided to have it run on batteries.

A question we keep getting asked is "Can

you share anything on it?" and we thought

about this so much to be included a

second auxiliary port so you can share

your music with one friend at a time.

Increasing your social life has never

been easier.

Hipsters will love that the iPod Retro

is compatible with your old falling apart

headphones. And you, will look so stylish using

them. Now we know that this won't fit

into your pocket as easily as the iPod

Touch, so we created a pocket clip that

you can purchase for only $119.99. You

can pre-order the new iPod Retro now for

only $299.99, or you can wait until next

year to pre-order the iPod Retro S

for $499.99 which has all the same

features just in different colors.

Because when all else fails, there's

always next year.

LES ADAPTATIONS RATÉES - Silver Talks #1 - Duration: 10:14.

Hello everybody, my name is Silversoul and I'm here with

SigmaRho

And today, I've found a very interesting subject to talk about

Failed film adaptations.

We all know at least one failed film adaptation, but first, let us see what is an artistic adaptation.

So I think anyone of you guys can tell me what is an adaptation in the artistic sense ?

Well that's when you adapt...Actually no...actually when you take a book and you make a movie out of it, it's a film adaptation...

But there are a lot of other ones, like literary adaptations, theatrical adaptation...

uuuurm....(--')

Go fuck yourself....

Thanks you very much !

In fact, there's no such thing as an artistic adaptation, I made that up.

In English, you don't have a word that regroups, all film, literary or theatrical adaptations under one single definition.

A distinction is made. It is therefore much more easier to understand.

Adapting a book into a movie is a film adaptation and adapting a movie into a book is a literary adaptation.

Piece of garbage

But now we'll talk about film adaptations, which is

when you turn into a movie a story coming from an other medium.

Film adaptations have been part of cinema since it was born.

Take a movie like Nosferatu, A symphony of Horrors out in 1922

It is already a screen adaptation of Dracula

Coming back to the first film adaptation ever made would be too difficult

be cause we do not always keep track of such old movies

It is possible that Moliere's "Imaginary Invalid" directed by George Melies in 1897

is the first movie adaptation ever made.

The first movie adaptation of a book on the other hand, would be Frankestein in 1910 and was 16 minutes long.

Yeah you can forget about the LOTR's full versions...Back in the days movie adaptations

were not that long...

I wanted to tell you about bad screen adaptation,

because if I was talking about the good ones, it wouldn't be funny, right ?

Because after all, human beings prefer to hear critics, because it so

much easier to find flaws rather than positive views in this godamn world !

[Sigma] Wow....That was beautiful man (#Irony)

(Music of Star Wars in the background, nah I'm kidding, it's silence)

Thanks dude...

For this video I will only talk about movie adaptations of books and mangas.

I will not talk about video games screen adaptation

Amongst all the ones there has been, most of them are garbage

but I will talk about them in a future video.

And if I will only focus myself on recent movies,

be sure that many films through cinema's History

have taken inspiration from pre-existing stories.

Yup ! Cool isn't it ?

Let's take a movie that everybody knows like Blade Runner

Well it is sort of a screen adaptation of

this novel, "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep"

I think we can all agree that "Blade Runner" is a much better title.

Because, if someone would ask me:

Tell me, have you seen that beautiful movie Blade Runner ?

Now I'll answer:

Well, I'm not sure, but I've played Pokemon !

...No ? It doesn't work ?

Anyway, every movie is taking inspiration from other universes, consciously or not

But of course, there is a huge difference between taking inspiration, and adapting the whole thing, obviously.

[Chipmunk voice] But with so many movie adaptations dear Silversoul

how are you gonna be able to make this video ?!

you're asking yourself.

[Sigma] Well no, we just don't give a f... [Silver] That's an excellent question !

It would take me days, even weeks, just to tell you about all those movie adaptations

957 movie adaptations, at least, were made between 2006 and 2013

I don't know if you guys realize...

Plus, take a character like Dracula,

who's getting more than 45 different films

the numbers end up rising pretty high.

Again, I've been sidetracked, sorry...

So, I wanted to talk about terrible movie adaptation, well

we're about to enter, ladies and gentlemen, what I call

THE SHITTY PANTHEON (sounds better in French trust me)

I hope you're all ready...Cause I'm not...

Never (lik if u cri 3vry tim)

To be honest, adapting something on screen is pretty tough

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't...

And sometimes we don't want it !!!

When you're adapting....Oh...What ?

Yeah yeah I know, I changed clothes, I shaved, but we filmed that video during two seperate days

I'm not gonna explain every detail !

What was I saying ?

Oh yes...

When you're making a movie adaptation of a story, and particularly a succesful one

the number one risk is the fanbase.

The fanbase of a screen adaptation is usually the one deciding if a movie is good or not.

because fans know everything about the original work

and will want to find the characters and heroes that they love so much in the movie.

Here comes the first step to a movie adaptation

Find a proper cast.

You cannot take too much freedom regarding the appearance and personnalities of the characters.

You'll probably have a headache when I'll mention the movie Dragonball which is a failure in many ways

but amongst all the flaws of that movie

there is an obvious one that is the choice of actors.

Goku is a kid when the story starts, not a random teenager with a shitty haircut

Come on it's not that hard to see !

Or Tom Ward in the 7th Son.

Tom Ward is 14 at the begining of the adevtnure, not 20 !

Concerning Grover being played by a black guy in this one, it's no that much of a problem

but it's bringing back the stereotype of the african-american funny sidekick.

You must therefore be very careful about how the characters will be presented

Because the casting is one of the first things the spectator will see

through posters, trailers or merchandise.

However when you create a movie, casting is not the first step, and I think I'll have to explain a few things here

[Sigma] Another one ?

When you're creating a movie, you go through multiple steps, but the spectator will

see all those steps in a different order than the director or the film crew.

And the cast, as I was saying, is one of the first things a movie reveals.

Because through trailers and ads, the futur public will discover who will play who,

and this without even knowing the way the story will be told.

So even if the scenario is the first step to create a movie,

the spectator will discover it only when he will be watching the movie at the cinema.

So when you decide to change a scenario,

You need to have a good cast ready to compensate for all the changements the fanbase might not like.

For me the best example to illustrate what I just said is The Hobbit,

The trilogy has almost nothing to do with the book sometimes, it is evident.

But the movie worked pretty well, and even the hardcore Tolkien fans watched it, despise it being way different.

The cast saved this movie !

It would have been completely annhilated without the original actors;

without Martin Freeman as Bilbo.

without all the great performances of those actors

And the voice of Benedict Cunpterback for Smaug is a pretty good bonus.

Wait, what did you just say ?

Again please ?

Again ?

Let's talk about the next characteristic of a failed movie adaptation.

Not respecting the script

But more especially, the "Scripwriting shortcut"

In the movie Eragon which is terrible (mostly because of the actors),

the scriptwriters took mutliple "shortcuts" to make the movie go faster, without any coherence or explanations.

In the books you have a couple of chapters with a baby dragon

a young dragon and finally an adult one.

But in the movie (and I've counted) it doesn't take more than 20 seconds to Saphira to go from "Baby dragon" to

MOTHERFUCKING BADASS DRAGON IN YOUR MOTHERFUCKING FACE !!!

And the worse thing is that we don't even have a montage showing us how seasons pass,

There is not even an ellipsis ! Nothing !

It was easy to do !! Really easy !!

Well who am I to talk...I'm terrible at montage, but whatever !

Because if I summarize this scene:

A dragon flies away and come back a few seconds later, adult size.

Oh and it can talk (telekinesis) !

And she knows everything about the story, cause why the f. not ?!

Go to hell...Seriously ! Demon's waiting for you there !

In the book it takes time....

I don't think it would have been hard for a professional to do a bit of montage

to show us time going by or something...It was not that hard !

Even Sigma could do it...

See ? Not that hard !

And now, the last condition to fail a movie adaptation.

Not knowing the universe you are trying to adapt on the big screen.

Looks obvious huh ?

But I don't think it is for some movie directors.

I think the seventh son is the most recent example. There are others of course.

The Seventh Son is a movie based on the books "The Spook's apprentice"

A very good saga that I recomand you read.

The universe is a mix of celtic legends, witchcraft, sorcery and heroic-fantasy.

and it is strangely coherent. Monsters in the books, musn't be killed otherwise they grow stronger

It requires technic and finess, not a green screen and a sword !

What I mean is that, letting the director of 300 taking care fo the project

is a little bit like having Shwarzenneger in Gossip girl, it's icompatible and if you try, it doesn't end well !

But I'll tell you about that movie in details in another video (maybe).

If you really want to adapt on screen a certain work, sometimes it might be preferable to just adapt

the universe and not the story, it would only be a semi-movie adaptation, but a better movie.

We can also mention some movies that are unfairely judged as failed screen adaptations

Sometimes it's just not your day...

To finish I will talk about a certain thing.

Adapting a Comic in cinema.

It's been a while since we started having comics on the big screen

and amongst them, we have some failures.

Why is that so ?

It's because it's nearly impossible to make a movie adaptation of a comic

There are too many of them.

It would take hours or days of films.

I know some of you would like it, but it is pretty hard to do.

Most of the stories are full of twists, crossovers and really hard things to put on screen

Therefore, Hollywood has been simplifying the stories

and just kept some basics for the new story. We can therefore ask ourselves two questions:

First: Is adapting a comic in cinema the same as adapting something else ?

And secondly.... [Sigma]: Can bacterias be considered as movie directors 'cause they're always adapting ?

Huh huh huh....My god my jokes are terrible...

That was not really what I was thinking about, but it is a very interesting question.

Secondly:

Why would a failed movie adaptation get a particular status ?

Let me make it clear:

If we sum up,

A movie adaptation is a failure when:

The cast is not worthy; the universe is not truthfully respected; the scenario is bad; the construction of the movie is even worse

and the public is disapointed

but all of those...Are the characteristics of a failed movie.

So a bad movie adaptation, would only be a bad movie with an angry fanbase as a nice little bonus.

So a movie adaptation might be diffirent but also very similar to a regular movie...

Because creating a movie with a brand new and original story is as hard as adapting one on the big screen.

It has never been easy to make a good movie...

but an adaptation is even harder

because the fanbase is far more demanding than for a random original movie.

I would say to conclude that adapting a work into a movie might actually be harder then just making a movie

and we cannot complain to have failled movie adaptations...It is a risk if we want some good ones,

and I'm glad some directors took those risks...Even you with the Hobbit Peter...Yup...Even you...

Why My Upload Schedule Has Been Bad And How You Can Help Me Fix It - Duration: 7:41.

Hey guys, so this YouTube Ad boycott has put me in the fucking ground.

I'm litteraly living off of eating soiled dirt and drinking rain water.

And we don't get a lot of rainwater.

I've resorted to using McDonalds public wifi to upload this and my new home is a box that

one of you sent to my PO box.

Unless you donate a million dollers to my patreon, no less, I'll never be able to make

content again.

Not only that, but somewhere in the world, newborn puppies will spontaneously combust

for every second that my patreon doesn't reach a million dollers.

Ok everyone, that was obviously just a joke.

This video isn't about my patreon, nor do I even have one.

If you could just please give me some of your time and listen to this video in it's entirity,

that would be lovely.

I NEVER ask for help from you guys, and it's very difficult for me to.

But I believe things have kinda reached their breaking point, and I concluded it'd be a

good thing for everyone if I did so

So recently, and it's no secret, I've been having trouble uploading frequently.

The comments from people assuming that's happening because i'm lazy, or just dont care is becoming

exceedingly monotonous.

So I thought i'd make a video on how we can fix this issue, why it's happening, and how

you guys can help.

So the biggest issue, is not recieving good enough stories that i'd feel comfortable using

in a video.

Effectively making me not upload.

I genuinely appreciate from the bottom of my heart when you guys take the time and effort

to email me a personal story that has happened to you.

I REALLY do.

And i'll never be able to individually thank everyone who's done that for me enough for

that.

Problem is, in the past few months i've recieved an influx of stories that I feel could be

seen as a little creepy.

But in the end, it could've just been overthinking, or nothing at all.

A theoretical example, but relatively accurate to something I would recieve.

You took a suspiciously late trip to walmart on 4/20 to get your favorite snack that you

just HAVE to have right now.

And a guy who looks like liminey snickett staring you down in the isle

And you explain that he could've TOTALLY charged you and hurt you, but instead, just stared

you down for a second.

Or a creepy guy who asks for your number at the bar.

It's a possiblity that in my mind i've mentally just raised the bar so high for stories, that

it's a lot more difficult to make videos now.

But i'm unsure if that's the case.

While I do realize not EVERY video can have the most blood curdling stories ever, or WAY

better stories than the last.

I don't think I can allow myself to put a video out where it's just a compilation of

stories where nothing really happens JUST to put a video out.

Quality over Quantity essentially.

Even though it hurts my channel in general not to do that, and hurts me in terms of the

YouTube algorithym.

If I keep this up, YouTube will kill my channel off, regardless of whether you, or I want

it to.

Bottom line; I absolutely LOVE putting out high quality, thrilling videos for you guys.

And I really want to.

But I can't do that when the stories aren't there.

So how can you get more content to watch, and how can I make more content for you to

watch.

The answer is simple really, just sending in your stories.

I've always mentioned for people to send in their stories in the description and sometimes

at the end of videos.

But I don't think people understand how detrimental it is to do so.

Or maybe they think that WAY too many people are sending in their stories for theirs to

matter.

I'm hoping this video changes that.

So, if you've had a scary experience, whether it be on the Nightshift, in a hotel, while

in college, while camping, a skinwalker story, ANYTHING.

Any subject Please send it in to Corpsehusbandstories@gmail.com

. I will also leave the email in the description.

I'm not saying they have to all be to the extreme of like the mass shooting story, or

the search and rescue stories I did.

But I think you guys understand what i'm saying.

This part is very important and a lot of people forget to do this.

But please subject the email what kind of story it is.

For example, if you send me a story involving a ouija board, subject the email Ouija board

story.

If you send me a scary hunting experience, subject the email, scary hunting experience.

If you don't subject it, it makes it extremely hard for me to find.

And there's no need to put things in word files when you send them to me.

Just paste it into the email if possible.

If you correct the grammar, and actually take the time to write things out really well,

i'm telling you, it makes a big difference in if i'll use it or not.

And It helps me out a ton Also including pictures really helps in validating

things.

I won't use them in a video if you're uncomfortable with me

doing so, but it does really help when sending me stories.

Now, If you DO have story where something ridiculously horrifying happend to you, where

it IS to or near the extreme of the mass shooting story, or the search

and rescue stories.

If you take the time to write out something that is to that level of scary really well

and email it to me It's pretty much guarenteed, i'm going to

use it.

I could never pass something like that up.

Those are just examples of videos i've done in the past, but I think you understand what

I mean.

I KNOW there are some viewers out there listening to this who probably have some really crazy

stories.

And they might not want to take the time to write it out for me because they probably

think they have no chance at it being featured on my channel.

But that isn't the case, and this is me telling you that.

Anyways, that's the main reason why my upload schedule has been how it is, and why it's

happening.

My health problems and things still haven't fully been figured out.

And I still haven't been given answers.

But at the moment, It has calmed down a lot, and it's nothing I haven't or can't work past.

Another thing I wanted to quickly talk about, is thumbnail art.

I'll show you some examples on screen of stuff that i've previously used for my videos.

If you are an artist, and you think you can do work similar to what i've used for my thumbnails

in the past, please email me at Corpsehusbandstories@gmail.com

with some of your previous work.

In conclusion, that's pretty much everything I wanted to make a video about at the moment.

In the future, i'll probably be looking for people to help speed up the video and audio

editing process, but I thought that stories was something that

needed to be addressed urgently.

If you made it to the end of the video and listened to everything, thank you very very

much.

Like I said, it's very difficult for me to make a video asking for help, and I appreciate

you all tremendously.

My hopes are that after this video, a lot of people will email me their stories and

I can start getting some really good videos out there

for you guys.

If you are sending one in, don't feel rushed, it's not a race.

Take the time to write it out the best you can.

Thank you all for listening, and your understanding.

If you'd like to keep up with things, or just interact with me in general outside of YouTube,

I have all my social media in the description.

Also, incase YouTube starts hurting my channel even more for my upload schedule, please

click the bell icon near the subscribe button to be notified so that you don't miss an upload

or livestream.

There should be two endcards on screen that you can click if you'd like to watch some

longer videos of mine from the past Thanks for sticking with me, stay safe, and

have an awesome day.
