So far, while we were introducing the first 3 short films,
we established that one member is another member's Demian.
We tried to be consistent with dividing the roles,
but those who are Demians are in some perspective also Sinclairs.
V's Demian Rap Monster and Jungkook's Demian Suga
are all Demians but at the same time, they are wondering within youth like Sinclair.
And the video released at the end of the wandering is
Suga wanders alone.
This consistently appearing dark background suggests that this is Suga's subconscious.
The endless cricket chirping conveys a dark and desolate atmosphere,
showing how lonely Sugar's internal self feels.
In Suga's lonely inner world,
there is a store that displays the albums of musicians that BTS aspires to be.
In other words, it reflects Sinclair striving to be Demian.
In order to express this yearning, in order to play the piano,
he breaks the glass door and enters the store.
However, this yearning is merely a immature imitation, so it comes off as wandering.
Then a red siren rings
It tries to prohibit, warn against wandering.
Going so far to wander, the lyrics of the song Suga plays sings:
This song conveys the loneliness of youth,
and how desperately Suga wants his loneliness to be understood,
but is shut down by the alarm and he gives up.
At that moment, someone whistles the same tune Suga had played on the piano.
It shares the same feelings of loneliness.
Suga begins to search for the whistler.
Because it is difficult to be alone,
he searches for someone who empathizes the one who whistles the melody.
At that moment, a car approaches Suga from behind.
The car is an implement used to reach a destination.
In comparison, an implement that leads to maturity would be growing pains.
In the novel "Demian," Sinclair's sudden acts of excessive deviance isolates himself from the rest in the world
and this damages his inner self.
Likewise, while the car does not physically hit Suga,
there are blood stains as if he were in an accident.
Here, do you see the mirror-like effect reflecting above and below?
A mirror within the inner self suggests endless agony within oneself.
As Suga experiences growing pains, he agonizes over this thought: "Would I be different, had I taken a different path, had I stopped and looked behind me?"
As Suga experiences growing pains, he agonizes over this thought: "Would I be different, had I taken a different path, had I stopped and looked behind me?"
This is probably why the overflowing sadness and depression from "LIE" is shown here.
At the end of his agony, Suga goes back,
back to where his growing pains had ended.
However, the location has been destroyed.
However, the location has been destroyed.
Ironically, this space is probably the egg that the bird had to destroy in order to leave.
In other words, the egg represents the immaturity of wanting to become the second Demian,
rather than a mature Sinclair.
Thus, breaking the egg represents the end of a misplaced obsession with this immature inspiration.
So,
Suga no longer searches for the whistler.
Rather than working for someone else to empathize with him,
he faces his own inner self, which had been hurt by growing pains.
In other words, "Growing pains and hardships allow one to look within oneself."
In other words, "Growing pains and hardships allow one to look within oneself."
Rap Monster is inside a container.
Containers are not meant to provide a permanent residence,
but only temporary housing.
Rap Mon stands on the road of wandering. This container simply imitates a 'home'.
Can you already tell?
This container is Rap Monster's egg.
Rap Monster is unable to move forward from this part of youth.
He remains inside his egg.
In fact, if he simply sets his heart to it, Rap Monster can break out of his egg.
This image was came from 'Begin' too,
is a drawing that Sinclair sends after enduring his growing pains through Demian.
It's an image that symbolizes maturity.
Once again, the black bird represents the end of wandering, the death of youth.
There must be a reason why he is not leaving, even though he has this drawing.
In order to remember this bird, or the process of maturity, Rap Monster preserves it as a tattoo.
Tattoos are used to preserve something one does not want to forget.
Rap Monster tattoos this bird in order to be with his Sinclair, V,
who is currently wandering within youth, similar to what he did previously in "HYYH."
who is currently wandering within youth, similar to what he did previously in "HYYH."
In the novel, Demian tells Sinclair that
he was able to recognize the latter because he bears the mark, or stigma, of Cain,
and Sinclair speaks as if he witnesses himself being projected onto Demian.
RapMon takes the death of youth, lights it on fire, and drinks it with alcohol.
He prepares himself to face his growing pains after
offering something like a burnt sacrifice.
Yet, through his wandering, Rap Monster travels deeper within the darkness in himself.
This story is about 'Dark world' where Sinclair experienced
The dark world Sinclair experiences is a space where divagation experience growing pains.
As Rapmon enters this dark world, he becomes dyed with color.
This scene is a depiction of Rap Monster's growing pains.
Wandering and agonizing Sinclair reunites with Demian and
rekindles their previous conversation about Cain and Abel and stigmas.
After contemplating about his inner self and repeating this discussion,
he decides to continue on the road to maturity.
(Who do you see in the mirror?) Rap Monster is visible in the mirror.
A mirror within a mirror. It's just like how the road Suga stood upon looked like a reflection.
Likewise, RapMon also experiences the endless agony within himself.
The words "You have to survive" is Rap Monster's message for V to become mature.
In reality, this message is also for Rap Monster to commit to maturity himself.
However, for V, he covers his ears and
closes his eyes pretending not to notice.
The fireworks are the finale that marks the end.
Youth is over and maturity is here.
The shattering mirrors are reminiscent of a bird shattering its egg and flying away.
At that moment, a phone rings.
It's the call V makes in "STIGMA". Unfortunately,
RapMon is unable to pick up.
Why couldn't he? "LIAR" is written above him.
Why couldn't he? "LIAR" is written above him.
So far, in order to protect V, he had prevented his own maturity,
but now he can't answer V's call.
This is because Rap Monster's wandering, or youth, is now over. He can no longer wander with V.
Similarly, in the novel, Demian does not offer help nor does
he contact Sinclair during his time of need
However, Demian cheers on Sinclair in hopes he will endure all adversity,
However, Demian cheers on Sinclair in hopes he will endure all adversity,
just like the message, "You have to survive."
Munchausen syndrome.
This syndrome is when the affected feign disease, illness, or psychological trauma
in order to draw attention or sympathy to oneself.
in order to draw attention or sympathy to oneself.
In other words, in order to receive attention, they are even able to deceive doctors with false ailments.
Similar to the second short film, "LIE," J-Hope lies about being sick.
However, psychologically, feigning an illness is treated as a mental problem.
It's a situation where an inner conflict caused by an immature personality is exposed and expressed.
It's a situation where an inner conflict caused by an immature personality is exposed and expressed.
It's difficult to cure an inner self with just medical procedures.
Consultation and understand are necessary.
If consultation and understanding are emotional remedies, pills are rational scientific remedies.
Doctors try to treat him with only pills and
everyone approaches J-Hope's emotional disease scientifically.
Their lack of understanding of J-Hope's inner self are
empty consultations.
The pills act more like a drug than medication and become a catalyst for J-Hope's insanity
because adults' rational consolation
sound ingenuine to actual youth.
Thus, it only further damages J-Hope's internal conflict.
Thus, it only further damages J-Hope's internal conflict.
In the novel "Demian," only after Sinclair rebels(intoxication, obscenities, etc)
without consideration for his inner self, does
he realize how repulsive he must look.
Just as Sinclair wails at his own repulsion,
J-Hope does the same.
These wings suggest that J-Hope is a bird who is
undergoing growing pains in order to fly.
The aggressive growing pains drain J-Hope and he collapses.
Then, he hears flowing water and freely chirping birds.
Then, he hears flowing water and freely chirping birds.
In front of his eyes is a massive forest, the bright world of the Garden of Eden.
It's a place where sinners or those who have witnessed their inner darkness,
may no longer venture. J-Hope yearns for the Garden.
The Garden of Eden is Eva, Eve, or Mama.
In English, this can also be read as Eva, and it is the name of Demian's mother.
Demian's mother Frau Eva guides a dodgy
Sinclair onto the right patch.
Frau Eva acts as Sinclair's mother figure and is also the object of his romantic love.
However, mother hood is a bright world that one must inevitably leave.
For Sinclair, meeting Frau Eva provides him with a mother figure
but simultaneously, a moment allowing him to leave.
As a result, in order to depart from the motherhood, J-Hope stops feigning illness and leaves his egg.
In the novel, Frau Eva comforts Sinclair with chocolate and J-Hope reflects this by
eating some chocolate as he reminisces the mother figure and ultimately leaves Eden.
Pill, an empty consolation for youth,
an apple, the original sin,
the noise-filled earbud in one ear, the contemplation over one's inner conflict,
the golden sparrow-hawk, the bird in Demian and Sinclair's shared memory
this space, altogether, summarizes the contents of "Demian" and
portrays Sinclair's childhood.
Jin cuts off Sinclair's inner conflict and
tries to avoid the apple that reminds him of his original sin.
He attempts to preserve innocence by taking a photo of the white lilies.
However, his efforts are futile as the
flames of the candles go out and foreshadows
the end of the once bright world.
Jin enters a dark world.
However, one must survive, even in a dark world.
In other words, one must overcome and endure maturity.
The original sin he had tried to avoid leads him
to his room,
or his deep inner self.
This inner self is scarred by growing pains.
Jin burns the symbol of innocence he had wanted to forever maintain for his maturity.
The destruction of innocence suggests that he is ready to face maturity.
The destruction of innocence suggests that he is ready to face maturity.
All of BTS is Jin and Jin is youth,
thus BTS is youth.
Thus
"LIE,"
"STIGMA,"
"FIRST LOVE,"
"REFLECTION,"
and "MAMA" combine to create Jin's inner self.
"AWAKE" is Jin's epiphany
In "BEGIN,"
the process of maturity begins.
Through the mirror, he is able to face himself as well as his inner self
and realizes that the bright world and the dark world are not separate,
but one.
(There was no dream.) Wandering without a clear destination makes youth uneasy.
However, within this wandering,
there were many smiles and tears, ultimately leading to a beautiful process of maturity.
The bird fights its way out of the egg.
Who would be born must first destroy a world.
The bird flies to god.
This god's name is
Youth must endure the growing pains
one must depart from comfort
one is susceptible to deviance
find the destination and stop wandering
fly towards the destination
break and fly out of the damaged egg.
Finally, Egg,
in other words, the first step into maturity is to realize that
the bright world and dark world are one.
Demian and Sinclair become one and become mature
Youth becomes mature towards Abraxas.
Hmm. I wonder what meaning the upcoming album will hold.
