Waching daily Jan 7 2017

Hey guys its Ashley, and today we're

going to be doing my December wrap up and

January TBR. So I've actually been kind of

thinking, should I just do wrap-ups from

now on? When I first started this channel

and I did TBRs I would stick to them

consistently, but toward the end of the

year my TBRs had almost nothing to do

with the books that i was actually

reading in that month (if i was reading

any at all) so I'm trying to decide...

should I just stop doing TBRs and

just tell you guys what I read and what

I liked about the book and everything

like that, or should I keep doing like

these consistent TBR/wrap-ups combined

into one? So please let me know what your

preference is because i really don't care

either way as long as you guys are okay

with me giving a TBR and maybe not

sticking to it all the time? For

future reference, just let me know!

So anyway, December was a really good

reading month for me; i read three books. I

kicked no-book-November in the ass and

I actually completed my Goodreads

reading challenge of 30 books! I'm so so

happy to show you guys what I read and

talk about them with you so let's just

go ahead and get started! The first book

that I read in december and actually

finished finally was Magnus Chase

and the Hammer of Thor. This is book two

in the gods of asgard series and this

book was so good! I don't think that this

series is perhaps as great as the Heroes

of Olympus series or the Percy Jackson

series in general, it might just be that

I like those characters more. I really

really love what he's doing with the

story and i love how he's intertwining

the two stories and making everybody

come together and it's amazing, but I

have to say I probably prefer the percy

series more over the magnus series.

I still gave this book 5 stars though

because it was so funny and so so great!

I was extremely ecstatic about the end

and i will have a booktalk up for it

soon I promise! The next book that I read

was Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy

by Cassandra Clare and friends. This book

obviously got five stars from me,

everything by Cassandra Clare ends up

getting five stars. It isn't just because

it was written by Cassandra Clare that

it automatically gets five stars guys I

just really really love these books and

i love the story and the characters. If you

haven't read up to City of Heavenly

Fire, you don't want to hear this, so

mute until I put the book down! This book

is basically about Simon after the

events of City of Heavenly Fire when he

loses all his memories and he decides to

ascend to become a Shadowhunter

and it is just amazing and it's like 12

short stories filled with nothing but

him at the Shadowhunter Academy. Every

single chapter is either a flashback to

something that we know and love or

characters come in that we love: Izzy, Jace,

Clary, Helen blackthorn, Jules and

Emma... Tessa comes back in, we get a

flashback with Will and Jem and their

kids, we get James Herondale who's Will's

son! It's just amazing and i love this so

so much!

Oh my goodness, ok, I'm done, I'm done. The

final book that i read in December to

wrap up my reading challenge was the

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

original screenplay by JK Rowling. I

figured this book wouldn't take me that

long to read it's pretty short and it's

a screenplay so I could get through it

really fast just like I would a graphic

novel, and i did, and i finished it like a

couple days before december was over and

i was so happy! I definitely, definitely,

recommend this if you love to the movie

or want to know more about the movie,

it's so so good! So those are the three

books that i read in December, I'm really

happy with everything that i read and

i'm super excited for what I'm gonna get

into in my January TBR so let's just go

ahead. Out of these five books, i have

fully read one and i'm in the process of

reading 2 and the other 2 i haven't

started yet, but just keep that in mind.

Okay so the first book that I had

planned and have actually already

finished in january is A Court of

Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas. This

got five stars from me, it was so good, i'm

still counting in my TBR because i did

read it in January but it was so good

you guys. I know that everybody is so

hyped about the series and has been

raving about this series from the moment

it came out especially, ACOMAF not

just ACOTAR, but I still don't fully

understand the Rhys hype and the

Rhysand obsession that everybody seems to

have... it's probably because i haven't

gotten into ACOMAF yet, and once i will

i'm probably going to be complete Rhysand

trash, but I mean as of right now I

like Tamlin better from this book at

least so I'm really interested to see

how everything changes in the second

book. The next book that I'm planning on

reading and i'm currently in the process

of reading actually is Wayfarer by

Alexandra Bracken. It's not one that i had

actually planned on reading previously

before this video but as soon as I

picked

it up at barnes and noble and put it in

my hands I was like there's no way you

are not going to read this this month

you've been waiting for it for over six

months now so you're gonna pick it up

and you're gonna finish the duology and

so I'm about 150 pages in right now and it

is really really good and I'm so happy I

picked it up and I should be done with

it soon. So the next book that I have

plans to read that I have not actually

start yet is Of Fire and Stars by Audrey

Colthurst. This was the december owlcrate

book box of the box, you know what

i mean. i received it in the December owlcrate

is what i'm trying to say. i'm so

excited to get into this book it sounds

so amazing. it's basically about like a

bisexual main character i think in this

fantasy kingdom and I am so excited so

excited. And the next book that I want to

read this month that i haven't actually

started yet is The Sun is Also a Star by

Nicola Yoon. So many people have been

raving about this book and I cannot wait

to jump into it hits some hard points

that we need to be talking about and the

story is just something so interesting and

i have yet to read a contemporary book

since I started this channel so i figure

its the new year

I should probably start now. The most

that I've heard about this book is that

it is about a main character whose

family is about to be deported to

jamaica and she falls in love with a

boy, i'm assuming, or she meets a boy and

everything just happens after that and

it sounds really interesting and it's

been getting a lot of good reviews and I

cannot wait to get into it! And so the

final book that I'm actually reading

this month i have already started,

no surprise, is actually City of

Bones by Cassandra Clare. This is book

one in the mortal instruments series. if

you're watching my channel and you don't

know that, where have you been? i have six

copies of this book, this one single

book, and I decided to hold up the most

battered, broken spine book I have. Go figure.

like i said in my reading resolutions

video i really want to make an effort to

try to reread the series this year

actually tried starting to read this

book this year on audiobook and I

realized about a hundred and fifty pages

into the book that audio books are just

not for me. I get really bad

headaches when I'm listening to

audiobooks and I don't want to just sit

there and listen to somebody reading the

book so i'm just gonna go ahead

just physically read them again which

i'm so excited about! There's one other

thing I wanted to mention / announced

with this book. Amber over at readinginfinitely

and i'll leave her channel

and the rest of these people that i'm

going to mention down below

she actually started a group chat on

twitter with a bunch of different people

and asked if we wanted to do like a

Mortal Instruments read along with like

possible live shows occasionally either

every month or every two months or

something like that and i immediately

said hell yeah I'm in so i'm going to be

a part of that. I have no idea what we're

doing it's a pretty casual thing there's

no like YouTube page or twitter page

revolved around it there's probably not

going to be any sprints

the goal is just one book a month in the

series in publication order so that

includes the Infernal Devices. I'll just give

you more information as the time goes on.

read it at your own pace, if you don't

finish it within the month

it's no big deal, nobody's going to

penalize you for it. So I mean if any of

you want to join us

just let me know because I'm really

interested to see how many people want

to actually read the series with us! i'll

leave all the people that I know were

in the group chat down below if you

wanted to see if they had posted

anything? i know that a couple people

said they were going to include a little

announcement in their TBR video which is

what i'm doing now,

so if you want to go check that out you

can and i'll give you more information

when I have it. so that's actually going

to be everything for my December wrap up

and January TBR... for two months this is

this is a lot of books and I'm pretty

psyched! i am so excited to be getting

into books that I honestly haven't been

expecting to read, but suddenly just decided

to pick up you know? I recently have

gained a whole bunch more subscribers

than i used to have so I just wanted to

say before this video ends HI and thank

you so much for watching and subscribing

Alola Pokemon that are Related to Other Pokemon - Pokemon Sun and Moon | Pokemon Insider - Duration: 3:12.

The Alola region introduced us to a decent amount of new Pokemon filled with interesting

and mostly unique bases.

However, some of these new Pokemon have a lot of connections to previous Pokemon.

That's why I am going to be going over some of the new Pokemon that I think are related

to previous Pokemon.

As always, I'm Pokemon Insider, and let's get started.

The first Pokemon I want to talk about is Morelull, the Illuminating Pokemon.

Morelull and its evolution Shiinotic are clearly based on Mushrooms, much like the generation

5 Pokemon Foongus and Amoonguss.

These two Pokemon not only share a design basis, but they have very similar levelup

move pools.

Additionally, they share the ability Effect Spore, which is only present among three other

evolutionary lines.

Also, if we look at what Bulbapedia states the two Pokemon are based on specifically,

they are incredibly similar, only differing in classification at the family level and

below.

This makes me think that Morelull and Foongus could definitely have some sort of evolutionary

relationship in the Pokemon universe.

A rather obvious relationship from Sun and Moon is Type: Null and Silvally's relationship

to Arceus.

Silvally's signature ability, RKS System, is essentially the same as Arceus' Multitype

ability, allowing it to change type based on the item it's holding.

On top of that, Silvally and Arceus both have the same base stat for every category, with

Silvally straight 95 and Arceus straight 120.

There is plenty of in game lore from Sun and Moon that supports this, with all the research

the Aether Foundation did in Sinnoh, so I think it's a safe bet to say Arceus and

Silvally are related.

A pair of Pokemon I have seen a connection between very early on is Comfey and Flababe.

These two Pokemon have so much in common, from their exact same height, similar weight,

and design.

They also share the fairy type and the extremely rare Flower Veil ability, which is only present

among the two Pokemon and Flababe's evolutionary line.

For more information on the similarity between these two Pokemon, you can check out my full

mini-theory on the topic by clicking the card or the link in the description.

The last connection I want to talk about isn't an evolutionary relationship, but rather a

food chain type of relationship.

That connection is Yungoos and Rattata.

According to the Sun and Moon PokeDex, Yungoos was brought to Alola from another region,

and if we look at its basis, the Mongoose, it was brought in to regulate the population

of rats in Hawaii.

They became an invasive species over the years, and that is similar to how they are seen in

Alola.

I think that Yungoos were originally brought to Alola to control Rattata population, and

they have since become a part of Alolan culture.

Well there you have it.

Those are some of the Pokemon in Alola that have a connection to previous generation Pokemon.

Of course, there could be a ton of other connections out there, so if you know of one, feel free

to let me know in the comment section.

Thank you so much for watching, and if you enjoyed, be sure to leave a like and share

7 USEFUL TRICKS Challenger Players ABUSE ft Pants (League of Legends) - Duration: 13:23.

What's up guys it's me Jeremy!

Today we wanted to talk about a bunch of broken tricks that challengers are abusing that the

rest of the player base doesn't, with the hope that some of you incorporate these tricks

into your own gameplay and start to feel yourselves improve as players!

And since I'm not a challenger player myself, joining me today is gonna be pants are dragon

who helped put together the list and make this

video today!

The first trick we want to talk about is all about abusing the lack of vision from unwarded

brush on the map.

Everyone is familiar with brush and the role it plays in the game to let you move unseen,

but most players don't even come close to taking advantage of it often enough!

Something you can often see from watching Challenger players play is how often they

will dip and weave in and out of the brush, which is always worth doing even if it's

just to get your opponent second guessing what you're up to.

If you watch closely though, you'll see it goes a step deeper - they are often using

the brush to hide specific actions.

For example, say you want to cast an ability, but you want to take the enemy by surprise

or just hide the animation to give them less time to react.

If you're into the habit of moving in and out of the brush, you can use that time to

fire off an ability, or even just an auto attack, hide the animation by abusing the

lack of vision.

The same goes for minion aggro - if a brush has no wards in it, the minions cannot see

you in the brush, so you can shake off aggro that you gain after harassing an enemy with

an auto attack by walking into the brush and resetting it.

The next one is all about mind games, and it can be really hard to get into the habit

of doing but super powerful once you learn to exploit it.

Let's use an example to explain it - say you're up in the top lane, stood next to

your caster minions, and you see the enemy jungler has come to gank because you have

the river brush warded.

It would be really natural for most players to just immediately run towards the tower

- after all, that's where they are going to be safe from most ganks.

But as long as their jungler isn't coming directly to you, you can assume they are waiting

for you to move into a disadvantageous position - maybe a bit further towards the enemy tower,

or closer to the brush they are hiding in.

This gives you the time to play a pretty mean trick - just pretend to be oblivious!

Move forward slightly then back again, so that you can stay at a safe distance while

also making the enemy jungler think you have no knowledge of where you are.

You can even take it a step further by using a ranged harass ability on the enemy then

quickly backing out, you're essentially taunting the jungler and making him think

that you are probably going to end up going towards him or making a mistake, even though

you are aware of him the entire time and you can still just move back to safety once he

eventually does reveal himself.

The benefit here is that you are wasting a lot of the time he could spend farming or

ganking other lanes - and every second counts in a game like League!

Most players in the ranked queues have at least heard of minion wave management, since

it's talked about during pro games and other discussions, but most don't even bother

to learn how to do it themselves.

I admit, it sounds pretty technical when you first hear about the concept, but it's actually

a lot simpler to do once you're used to it, and you can definitely use a few of the

tricks without needing crazy mechanics.

For example, to freeze a lane you can tank minions and stagger minions until you are

fighting the minions where you want it to freeze, then kill enemy creeps to match exactly

your own wave - for example, leave 1 melee and 2 casters if that's how many you have

on your own wave.

The real pro trick here though is to drag the minion waves to gain different advantages.

For example, when the enemy wave is on it's way towards you, you can take the aggro then

quickly dip into the brush, and do this a few times to stagger the wave and throw it

out of balance, making it naturally push.

You can do the same to drag minions upwards in the lane and dip back into the bush, or

even drag the wave towards your jungle to try save a couple of creeps that would have

originally been killing by those minions.

You should also know how to create your own giant minion waves that you can use to storm

an enemy base.

The way to do this is to kill two caster minions on a balanced wave - the melee minions have

way more health, so it will take your wave so long to kill them that the next wave will

actually have time to spawn and catch up.

These can happen a few times in a long lane where the first two towers have gone down,

leading you to have a minion wave strong enough to solo an inhibitor tower.

It's a bit of a double-edged sword tactic though - you have to prepare this trick 3

minutes or so in advance, and you need to make sure the enemy laners don't have the

time and space to head back and clear the wave.

At it's best, this trick will get you

a free inhib turret.

At it's worst, you are losing 5-6 waves worth of farm.

The next trick is about ward placement - it's easy to fall into the trap of just plopping

down a ward in the usual locations, maybe in front of an objective or in a brush looking

over a common gank path, but these places are often super easy to counter with a pink

because the usual pink spots will check for these wards.

In fact, the best way to learn to place normal sight wards is to learn where the usual pink

ward spots are - for example, in the river brush next to dragon, the tri-brushes near

top and bot lane, and the brush at the back of red buff.

The higher in the ELOs you climb, the more likely that you're going to find pink wards

in these locations, and you can't always head over to check and clear them out, so

it's important to know how to ward around them.

Control wards actually have a 900 unit radius - although that doesn't go through terrain.

That means when warding a potential gank path or objective, you should look and think where

pink wards are likely to be placed, then place your sight ward in a way that won't be spotted

while still covering the pathway to give you information about enemy whereabouts.

Let's use the river brush near bot lane for example - it's usually going to get

pink warded by the purple side because it will clear vision and help their jungler ganks

bot.

That means any wards you have in that brush or in the vicinity will be cleared out.

That being said, you could place a vision ward a bit further up the lane - for example,

just in front of dragon pit.

It would be outside the range of the control ward, while also giving you an early warning

about enemy junglers moving towards bot lane from blue - and it also could keep an eye

on dragon for you too!

There's tons of these spots around, so make sure you actively think about where pink wards

are likely to be placed, and how you can hide wards outside their range or around pieces

of terrain to give yourself a vision advantage that is hard to deal with!

Our fifth trick is really about greed - a lot of players in lower elos will be pretty

happy after winning a dragon or baron fight and taking that objective, but then they often

recall, since they are low on health and want to spend their newly acquired gold.

What you should actually be doing after winning an objective

is counterjungling!

When enemies are dead, there's not much of a threat of dying, and you'll usually

have a minion wave pushed up.

This means you have time to head into the enemy jungler and steal away camps for free

gold, and sometimes you'll even get away with stealing buffs.

League is about changing advantages together - and although it's becoming more common

for people to rotate between objectives, it's still rare to see people actively counter-jungling

when the enemy team is dead until you reach the high skill ratings.

Abuse this strategy to give yourself more of a gold lead, and deny the gold, experience

and buffs from the enemy team.

Our next trick is about baiting objectives.

It's really easy to set your sights on a target like Baron, but going straight for

it is often a mistake since the enemy team might be ready to collapse on you.

Honestly this is one of those things you have to get a feeling for - when to start an objective

and when to bait it out, but the easiest way to pull it off is to ignore the idea of capturing

the objective you're baiting.

For example, if you have a strong split pusher on your team, you can split your focus up

and send them to another lane where they could pressure an inhibitor for example.

The rest of your team can hover around Baron, causing map pressure that pulls the enemy

team's attention.

You don't even actually have to try take Baron, just stay grouped and near it to force

the enemy team to focus on you, while your split pusher takes down turrets for free.

This works even better if you have someone with Teleport, since you can use this strategy

to force the enemy team to send at least one person back to defend - and then have your

teammate teleport back to help take a 5v4 fight.

Don't commit to an objective you know the enemy team is being contested, and make sure

you consider the whole map when you are planning to make an aggressive play, and you can be

rewarded with really clean wins where the enemy team feels like they have no way to

stop you.

The last trick for today is something that a lot of lower ELO players never consider

even though it's often a really easy thing to do.

If you have an enemy champion low on health, often they are going to want to recall to

spend their gold and recover lost health.

If you're a ranged champion or a tanky melee champion, you can often poke at them or move

into range to threaten them into cancelling a recall, which stalls them out and makes

them waste time.

It all comes back to trying to gain tiny advantages - even if that just means stalling an opponent

by seconds.

Players will often try to recall after finishing clearing a wave for example - but stalling

them and forcing them to recall when you want them to might be just enough time to let your

next minion wave get back to lane, forcing your opponent to risk farming those creeps

while low, or forcing them to back and miss the cs while also risking getting their tower

pushed.

Anyway that just about wraps up everything on today's broken tricks that challenger

plays are abusing that you don't!

You might notice how often we say 'it seems like a small advantage,' but that's often

what separates Challenger players from the rest - they actively use all of these tricks,

and all of those small advantages add up to a lot and allows them to dominate games against

less prepared players.

We hope you all enjoyed the tricks, make sure you let us know in the comments how they work

for you, or maybe suggest your own trick that you want to see featured in another video

like this some day!

A BETTER Skyrim...? - The ART! - Duration: 8:19.

The Elder Scrolls Skyrim can be a BEAUTIFUL game if you're looking in the right places.

It's lush landscapes are what keep you wondering around the wilderness for hours at a time,

but it's design and architecture, can be really... dull...

So, what is it that works?

What if Skyrim took things a little bit further, defining the various cultures in Tamriel a

little bit more through creative design choices?

The Dwemer (also known as just Dwarves) are an extinct race of Elves not present in Skyrim.

They were mysteriously whipped out long before the game took place.

However, they left behind a whole slew of ancient weapons, armor and architecture that

look drastically different than anything else in the game.

These are items meant to look like they're from a different time, so they have to be

designed using a different set of rules.

The most obvious theme here is the bronze color.

This is supposed to be rare and highly advanced technology so NO!

It's not BRONZE.

In the Elder Scrolls canon, this metal is supposed to LOOK very similar to bronze, but

it's actually Dwarven Metal created using a special technique that died along with the

race, hence why it's so rare.

Now it could be the texturing or the graphics but

to ME it looks like a dirty or rusted gold, which I guess is what bronze looks like sometimes

anyway.

You wont see much else in the world of Skyrim that's this color.

Hell, most of Skyrim is pretty colorless.

Lots of dark grays with slight earth tones.

Throwing in some yellowish orange, ESPECIALLY in the architecture, REALLY stands out.

The design work sprinkled around the world of Elder Scrolls is largely based on ancient

Scandinavian art.

Lots of swirls and interlocking patterns.

The designs in Skyrim seem a little more random.

Almost like an afterthought.

They might not have been expecting someone to get this close.

And that's certaining understandable.

But I SURE DID BECAUSE IT'S MAH JOB.

This design aesthetic bleeds into all of the cultures in Tamriel, even the Dwarven patterns.

However, the Dwemer have a little bit of an art deco influence, which is VERY out of place

in a Nordic setting.

Art Deco was a design movement popular in the 1920s and 30s.

If you don't know what art deco is, think Batman or The Great Gadsby.

Bronze and Gold fit perfectly in this design era.

Even more telling are these geometric patterns seen in the drapery, or in the doors.

Much different from the random swirls we're used to in the rest of the game.

I think these straight lines are supposed to be a call out to how advanced Dwemer culture

is.

A smith couldn't get straight lines like this by hand.

These were MACHINED.

The automaton, while obviously very steampunk, have the same sort of art deco influences

in the face.

Very reminiscent of the 1927 German film Metropolis, which is famous for inspiring the design of

C3PO.

My point is that there are many cultures in the world of Tamriel.

And the Dwemer are really the only ones with an aesthetic that stand out to me.

Shouldn't they all have their own unique histories?

They're own unique art and design?

Sure they're all Nordic inspired, and can half Scandinavian undertones, but why not

make them all more unique to separate the cultures better?

The closest we can get to some semblance of a unique design aesthetic is with the Dwarven

design and architecture, and it clearly shows in how much their design stands out against

the rest of the undersaturated, muted tones.

What if there was MORE design culture built into the lore of Skyrim?

Take the Orsimer for example.

A primitive race with very primitive technology.

This shows in the design of their weapons and architecture.

At a glance, these items are more or less indiscernible from the rest of the items in

Skyrim.

When they're not silhouetted and we mix them up can you tell the difference?

Can you even tell when they're NOT silhouetted?

Because of the muted earth tones and the relatively ambiguous patterns it's pretty hard to tell

but it's these ones right here.

I guess we're supposed to know by the slight green tint?

The shield is more green than the other pieces though.

We see some blades made of bone, and uncut wood holding everything together.

We also see some rough looking metal, but it's only vaguely rough looking.

Just because they're primitive doesn't mean the Orcs can't have some sort of art history.

Why not add some tribal designs?

A little splash of color couldn't hurt.

I'm thinking white or maybe red to signify the blood of their enemies. I don't know.

Just sounds right.

We can even include some slight Native American influence since Native American culture has

a distinctly primitive aesthetic that's still visually appealing.

Now you can look at this at a glance from far away and go "yup, that one right there

is Orcish."

Not to mention it makes the world, and the life in it, that much more interesting.

We can do the same thing with the High Elvish Armor.

In the concept art for Skyrim this armor is shown in much more of a White-Gold.

This would have contrasted it better against the Dwarven goldish-bronze.

Other than that, these feather-like designs are great.

It gives the armor a flowy, elegant look.

The high elves are a very civilized race after all.

It would be nice if they ran with this aesthetic a little more.

The flourishes are much more prominent in Elvish weapon design.

Maybe it needs a little more contrast too.

Now THAT is distinctive.

Now you can look at this and go, DAMN that's elvish.

And I'm not alone here there are mods that show a similar desire to add some detail.

I know these details seem trivial in such a massive game that took an IMMENSE amount

of work to make, but it's a game that's so focused on lore and culture.

Art has a very big role in that.

With a little more design work placed in the right spots, we can emphasize the game's lore

and make these different cultures and ideas stand out.

It's important to be constantly reminded that every little thing in this world has a backstory.

Separated design aesthetics could help us follow along with these backstories easier,

and put faces to the names we hear over and over throughout the campaign.

Not to mention, it adds a little more color to the world.

That's something that Skyrim could definitely use.

SO WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK about the distinction between the different cultures in Skyrim?

Do you think it could be made a little more obvious?

Are you cool with how it is now?

Triathlon Training 2017 Goals with Zen and the Art of Triathlon, TheTriGuy, Tri Swim Coach - Duration: 6:04.

Hey, what's up triathletes?

Taren here.

If you'd seen the video that we put out just last week about what my triathlon Taren, what

my triathlon training, and racing goals are for 2017 you know that one of my goals is

to collaborate with more people throughout the world who cover triathlon across podcasting,

YouTube, magazines, all that jazz.

We're checking off one of our New Year's resolutions already because today we've brought in some

very special guests who are going to tell you what their triathlon goals are for 2017.

Then at the end in case you forgot it, we're going to talk about my triathlon goals for

2017.

Hey everybody, this is coach Brett from Zen and the Art of Triathlon, coming to you from

the Zen Tri Training Cave.

I'm here with my training buddy Kona, how's it going?

Look at you, yeah, woo.

All right, we are going to talk about resolutions for 2017.

All right, I have three.

First one is to eat more veggies.

I eat plenty of fruit, plenty of carbs, which is fruit, and plenty of fat, all that good

stuff.

The reason I want to eat more veggies is more fiber, and more vitamins so you've got more

energy.

Now, the other one is weight lifting.

I want to mix in more weight lifting with my training schedule because I get in lots

and lots of the endurance and all the good cardio stuff, but the one thing I'm not getting

in is enough weight lifting.

Recently I've had some plantar fascitis injuries, and so I've had to do something else besides

biking and running.

I've started mixing in more weight lifting, and it's been fantastic.

Absolutely love it.

It releases lots of testosterone, and makes you feel good, and it also beefs you up so

that you're tougher against the injuries that you can get anyway, which I'm trying to fight

in the first place.

That's great.

Then the last thing is there's a 100 mile trail run at the end of 2017.

It's the Brazos Bend 100 and I want to try to run that, hopefully ... Well, you always

hope to finish, but I want to get in under maybe 24 hours would be pretty cool.

I'm going to use the whole year to slowly build my way up to being able to finish that

race, and hopefully have a PR, and it would be really cool.

It's a great goal to have throughout the year, and it ends up around Christmas of next year.

Maybe I'll see you there, be pretty cool, huh?

All right, so that's it.

Everybody stay safe out there, work the uphills, and keep the rubber side down.

Hey Triathlon Taren viewers.

I'm Kevin Koskella of TriSwimCoach.com and I want to talk about three things that I'm

going to be focused on for 2017, for this year.

The first one is psychology.

Psychology is at the base of everything that we do.

We have a program called, "TheFitTriathlete.com."

That is where we start with this base of psychology, and mindset, and getting in that right mindset

to make everything else that you do much easier.

Whether it's in triathlon, or swimming, or just life in general.

Then the second thing that I'm going to be focused on is nutrition.

That is so important.

That is so important to your health, to your fitness levels, and to anything that you want

to do in sports.

Got to lock down that nutrition.

Then the third thing is going to be breathing.

We all have a tough time, everyone that starts out with swimming has a tough time breathing

in swimming.

This is actually a unique kind of breathing method called the, "Wind pop method."

You may have heard of it, but I'm going to be incorporating that into all the coaching

and teaching that I do because it's been so helpful in my life, and it's been so helpful

for other people that are just getting started with swimming, and just getting started with

triathlon, and then also just getting better at these sports, and being able to increase

your lung capacity.

Even increase your ability withstand cold temperatures.

I think these are all great things for triathletes to really investigate, and look into.

I'm going to be focused on all three of these this year.

I hope you have a great New Year, a great 2017.

Best wishes with everything you're doing, and thanks for watching.

Good luck with everything, and we'll talk to you soon.

What's up everybody?

It's the TriGuy here.

I'm up here on a ski trip, but I'm going to tell you guys my goals for 2017.

If you're a subscriber of mine you all know that I did my first Olympic distance triathlon

last year.

This year I'm going to continue racing in Olympic distance races.

Of course I'm going to be showing you guys everything I do, all my training, and explain

why I do all my training to leading up to all the Olympic distance races that I'm going

to be doing.

I'm also planning on trying out a half Iron Man with my buddy Josh, who's been in a lot

of my videos.

We decided that we're probably going to do one together this summer, so hopefully that

works out well.

Doing a first half Iron Man, going to be a lot of good videos to make about that.

Last thing, I'm going to be heading out to Rotterdam for the World Championship's Racing

Sprint out there.

Definitely going to be showing you guys all the preparation.

Those are my goals for 2017, getting ready for all the races, and I'm definitely going

to bring you guys along.

Stay tuned, and check out my channel.

Thanks to everyone there for submitting all of their goals for 2017, very interesting

stuff.

As I promised, my triathlon goals for the year are to race two half Iron Man's.

Hopefully one in Mexico, Campeche on March 19th.

If I do really well there we're going to see if I can make the World Half Iron Man 70.3

Championships in September.

I think it's the 9th.

If I don't have such a good race I'll probably be racing Superior Man in Duluth at the end

of August.

In between those two races, if you haven't heard I've got a 39 kilometer open water river

swim planned at the beginning of July down the Red River in Winnipeg.

Going to be for real, yo.

There you have it triathletes.

I want to know what your triathlon goals are for 2017, so hit us up in the comments below.

Tell us what you've got on tap, and I wish you all good luck.

We're going to double up on the good luck.

As always triathletes, happy and hard training, and good luck in your next triathlon.

Good God! With God And Special Guest Sonic the Hedgehog - Duration: 4:14.

Hello and welcome to Good God with God.

I am God and today's episode is brought to you by Mercury.

It's a great planet. It's very small. It goes around super fast.

You can't go there, you'll die.

It was like a good like starter planet for me, personally.

Mercury. I made it. I love it. Check it out.

Alright, well today we have a very special guest.

I think you know him as a popular character from some fantastic video games over the years.

Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog. Hey Sonic, how are ya?

Hey God. It's really good to be here.

- It's always so fun to play Sonic games. - Thanks so much God.

- What games are you in to God? - Truth be told,

I mostly just dabble in like Nintendo stuff, I don't know.

How do you feel about Nintendo? They were your enemy for a

- little while there, right? - Absolutely.

I mean and what's sad is, you know, Mario and I came up in a similar time.

You know, we should've been friends, and it wasn't really the case.

Did you ever feel jealous of Mario or anything like that?

Absolutely. I definitely did some things I wasn't happy about.

You know, I was sort of a prankster, rebellious type and they wanted that.

You know, I was encouraged in that way. You'd see me tapping my foot...

It wasn't just because I was impatient, I was hopped up on speed. I was on drugs.

- Hedgehogs don't move that fast. - It's true. I was actually gonna bring that up.

They messed around with all kinds of animals, my friend Miles Tails.

You think he was born with two tails? Have you ever made a creature with two tails?

- Were you friends with Tails? - Absolutely.

- He's your bud? - Absolutely. But, I mean,

it was hard for him of course. I mean, I'm Sonic the Hedgehog

and he's the sidekick, you know? I'm Jordan, he's Pippen.

- Yeah, I noticed that you grew a goatee. - Yeah, this is just sort of my off shooting goatee.

- Got it-yeah. - I think it hides my double chin.

- You know, I'm older now. - If you know you're doing a new game,

do you kind of like go do spins more, and kind of like get in to shape?

- Totally. And I actually do some Botox. - Ooh.

I don't go overboard with it. And as you can see over here,

- did you see this? Yeah. - Are those fake spikes that they put in there?

Fatone hooked me up with it which is great. Joey Fatone.

- I know who Joey Fatone is. - In the nineties, I don't know

if you remember this, I dated, um, Jenny McCarthy.

- Really? Wow. - Yeah.

I mean, so she was just, you know right around Singled Out era.

She's so beautiful. I mean even now I gotta give it up to my girl, like--

What about like, you know, video game creatures.

- You date any of them? - I was huge back then. I dated Peach.

- I dated Zelda. Lara Croft. - Whoa! Tomb Raider, Lara Croft?

Yes, yes, yes. I don't want to put that out there, because we were more, like hooking up.

- She's great. She's married to this guy Kyle. - Really?

He is so nice. You know, he has the Ink Plus Card from Chase,

- so he gets extra points on a ton of things. - So, do you Sonic the Hedgehog

- care about credit cards? - Yeah, totally. I went to Rao's recently.

It's a big famous restaurant in New York City. I went to Rao's.

- It was me, Tails, Matthew Modine-- - Matthew Modine?

I mean, just an amazing actor. He was recently in Stranger Things.

- Yeah, yeah. - But it was great. It was me,

it was Miles, it was Matthew Modine, and you know that young pop singer

- Ariana Grande? Oh, OK. - Yeah.

- She was there. She definitely knew me-- - Right.

- And she definitely was really into Matthew. - Ariana Grande was in to Matthew Modine?

- They went home together. - Are you sure you just didn't bring

her home or something like that, like to her place?

- Like drive her home? - Yeah.

- Like a chaperone, her home? - Yeah.

I mean, you know Modine. You know how Modine get down.

- No, I don't. And-- - He's a good friend of mine,

- and he get's down. - You gotta let this Modine thing go.

I'd like to see Modine and you know, maybe, in the next Bond.

You want to give Modine Bond? Moodine's like 60 something man.

- He's not Bond. - I mean, there are some parallels

with me and Bond. You know, GoldenEye ripped off of

some of the concepts that we were doing at Sonic.

- Wait? GoldenEye ripped some Sonic stuff off? - The game. The game ripped off Sonic.

The game? Wait-What did GoldenEye the game possibly rip off from Sonic the Hedgehog?

- Levels. - Levels? The idea of levels?

Sonic, the idea of levels did not start with Sonic the Hedgehog.

Matthew Modine just like being in 007--

Well, that's all the time we have. It's been nice having you Sonic.

- I wish you the best in video game life. - [Sonic's cell phone vibrates]

- Modine. What's up? - Ah, man.

What's up buddy? I'm just finishing up something. You want to get something to eat?

- Tell Matthew I say hello. - What?

Tell Matthew Modine I say hello.

Mattie, God says hi. [giggling] No. I can't say that.

Oh man. Today's episode has been brought to you by Mercury,

The planet Mercury. Mercury. I made it. I love it.

Check it out. This has been Good God. God out!

Types of Inductors and their Applications -Different Types of Inductors- Classification of Inductor - Duration: 6:29.

Inductors have a wide variety and important applications in electronics.

Inductors are available for high power applications, noise suppression, radio frequency, signals,

and isolation.

To meet the needs of these diverse applications several types of inductors have been developed

and are in a variety of form factors from small surface mount inductors to chassis mount.

In this video I will go to show you about different types of inductor.

Coupled Inductors.

Coupled inductors are types of inductors that share a magnetic path and influence each other.

Coupled inductors are often used as transformers to step up or step down voltage, provide isolated

feedback, and in applications where mutual inductance is required.

Toroidal core inductors.

In these inductors, a coil is wounded on a toroid circular former.

Flux leakage is very low in this type of inductor.

However special winding machines are required to design this type of inductor.

Sometimes ferrite core is also used to decrease the losses in this design.

Multilayer Inductors.

Multilayer inductors get their name from the layers of coiled wire that are wound around

a central core.

Adding additional layers of coiled wire to an inductor increases the inductance but also

increases the capacitance between the wires.

These inductors trade off higher inductance for a lower maximum operating frequency.

Ferrite Core Inductors.

These are the different types of inductors which offer advantages of decreased cost and

low core losses at high frequencies.

Ferrite is a metal oxide ceramic based around a mixture of Ferric Oxide Fe2O3.

Soft ferrites are used for the core construction to reduce the hysteresis losses.

Molded Inductors.

Inductors that are molded into a plastic or ceramic housing are known as molded inductors.

Generally, these inductors have a cylindrical or bar form factor and can be found with several

types of winding options.

Power Inductors.

Power inductors are available in a wide variety of form factors and power levels from surface

mounts inductors that can handle a few amps to through-hole and chassis mount power inductors

that can handle tens to hundreds of amps.

With the amount of current that power inductors are often subjected to, large magnetic fields

are created.

To prevent these magnetic fields from inducing noise in other parts of the circuit, it is

recommended that magnetically shielded inductors be used if possible.

Air Core Inductors.

In this type of inductor, core is completely absent.

These inductors offer high reluctance path for the magnetic flux, hence less inductance.

The air core inductors have larger coils to produce higher flux densities.

These are used in high frequency applications including TV and radio receivers.

RF Inductors.

High-frequency types of inductors, also called radio frequency of RF inductors, are designed

to operate at high frequencies.

These inductors often have a higher resistance and lower current rating.

Most RF inductors have an air core rather than use a ferrite or other inductance boosting

core material due to the increase in losses when those core materials are used which would

reduce the operating frequency of the inductor.

Due to the operating frequency of the inductor, several sources of loss become important including

the skin effect, proximity effect, and parasitic capacitance.

The skin and proximity effects effectively increase the resistance of an inductor.

Several techniques are used to help reduce these losses including honeycomb coils and

spider web coils to reduce parasitic capacitance and litz wire is often used to reduce the

skin effect.

Chokes.

A choke is an inductor that is designed to block high-frequency pulses while letting

lower frequency pulse through.

Their names come from the choking off or blocking of high-frequency signals.

There are two classes of chokes, power chokes, and RF chokes.

Power and audio frequency chokes typically have an iron core to increase their inductance

and make them more effective filters.

RF chokes use iron powder or ferrite beads combined with complex winding patterns to

reduce parasitic capacitance and operate effectively at high frequencies.

Higher frequency chokes will use non-magnetic or air cores.

Surface Mount Inductors.

The push for smaller and more mobile devices has led to the explosion in options for surface

mount types of inductors.

Surface mount inductors are often used in DC-DC converters, EMI filtering, energy storage,

and other applications . Their small size and footprint make surface mount inductors

an essential element in the mobile and portable electronic designer's component toolbox.

Surface mount inductors are available with and without magnetic shielding, with current

capabilities in excess of 10 amps, and with very low losses.

Often surface mount inductors will use an iron or ferrite core or special winding techniques

to optimize the performance of the inductor and maintain a small footprint and form factor.

Laminated core inductors.

Laminated iron core ballast inductor for a metal halide lamp.

Low-frequency inductors are often made with laminated cores to prevent eddy currents,

using construction similar to transformers.

The core is made of stacks of thin steel sheets or laminations oriented parallel to the field,

with an insulating coating on the surface.

The insulation prevents eddy currents between the sheets, so any remaining currents must

be within the cross sectional area of the individual laminations, reducing the area

of the loop and thus reducing the energy losses greatly.

The laminations are made of low-coercivity silicon steel, to reduce hysteresis losses.

Iron Core inductors.

Low resistance with high inductance.

Core losses, eddy currents, magnetic saturation and hysteresis limit the operating frequency

and current.

Thanks for watching this video.
