housing at University of Vermont

and having Deaf and hearing people live on the same floor

dormitory floor

so we thought

she went out of her way asking us to maybe make a video for her

about us talking about what we thought

my hearing perspective and Ryan's Deaf perspective on that topic

and we

posted that video a few days ago

and she used that in her proposal to the board of housing

How to Sleep Better - Fixing Insomnia - Duration: 5:11.

Often, we are consumed with information about health issues such as obesity and heart disease,

but not nearly as much attention is given to the struggles we have with sleep.

Insomnia, a health issue plaguing 95% of all Americans in one point of their lives.

Outside of the difficulties of sleeping, insomniacs state problems such as an extreme drop in

quality of life, poor concentration and motivation, and even increased aggression.

At times, the waning productivity or missing work entirely has cost people them livelihoods.

So, what exactly is insomnia?

Insomnia is difficulty with initiating sleep, maintaining sleep, or waking up too early

resulting in poor daytime function.

And there are two types: Short-term insomnia, which usually last about a month and related

to temporal stressors such as losing your job, death of a loved one, or divorce.

Then there's chronic insomnia, which lasts for more than a month and occurring at least

three nights per week.

It should be noted that insomnia is not the same as circadian rhythm disorders, where

you sleep at irregular times but still sleep enough, such as people working the nightshift

or suffering jetlag.

Along with a dip in quality of life, insomnia can lead to very serious issues such as depression,

alcohol and drug dependence, and even suicide.

One study even found that insomniacs are 34 times more likely to develop new psychiatric

disorders.

And the increase of alcohol and drug use can ultimately worsen the level of your insomnia.

So, what can you do about it?

The first thing you can do is create a sleep history log.

Track all the information of your sleep, such as the time you went to bed, fell asleep,

and woke up.

You should also track activities such as naps and stressful events.

After one to two weeks, evaluate your log and find any patterns that might affect your

sleep.

Eliminating negative patterns can improve your insomnia and might even fix it entirely.

One of the most effective non-pharmacological methods is cognitive behavior therapy.

Studies show that about 80% of people using CBT improved sleep efficiency for up to 24

months – something that medication alone has not been able to replicate.

If you were suffering from short-term insomnia, medication might work, but for long-term problems,

CBT might be your best bet.

CBT incorporates multiple strategies.

One is improving sleep hygiene.

That can mean manipulating your sleep environment, such as buying a mattress or pillow to your

fitting, and keeping your room at a comfortable temperature.

You can also restrict stimulants after lunch such as caffeinated beverages.

In the evening, avoid alcohol since although it can help you fall asleep quicker, it negatively

suppresses REM sleep, and avoid smoking, due to the stimulant effects of nicotine.

Improving sleep hygiene can also mean adding in more exercise, which can improve sleep

quality.

Maintaining a regular sleep schedule can help regulate your circadian rhythm, and make sure

you avoid taking long naps.

Also, resolve any stressful thoughts before going to bed that might keep you up at night.

Don't eat too much 2 hours before bed to avoid late night heartburn and don't drink

too much water so you don't have to get up and urinate.

Outside of sleep hygiene, you can control different stimuli.

Keep the room dark to avoid sleep-disruptive effects caused by bright screens.

That means no more TV in the bedroom, no late-night gaming sessions, and no checking Facebook

right before bedtime.

Use the bed only for sexy time and sleep.

If you can't fall asleep after 20 minutes, get out of bed until you feel tired again

and repeat if necessary.

Cognitive and mental therapy is important as well.

Re-train your negative thoughts of insomnia and establish a realistic approach to fixing

it.

You can try talking to a loved one about the matter for extra social support.

Some have seen improvements using paradoxical intention therapy, which is similar to reverse

psychology.

Basically, you're telling yourself to stay awake to reduce the fear of not falling asleep

in hopes of you ultimately falling asleep.

There are also relaxation therapies.

Since people with insomnia have increased cerebral activity, relaxation therapies are

meant to slow that down.

Such therapies include meditation, deep breathing, and progressive muscle relaxation, where you

tense and relax large muscle groups in the body starting with the feet then moving to

your facial muscles.

And one final CBT strategy is sleep restrictive therapy.

The concept is to limit time in bed in order to increase desire to sleep.

This deprives you of sleep which can promote falling asleep faster and improved sleep quality.

It might sound backwards, but studies do show that there is some merit to it.

Now, you might have heard that antihistamines might help with sleep, such as Benadryl and

Unisom.

However, the effect is only minimal and actually might reduce sleep quality and make you feel

drowsy.

In the same light, you might have seen melatonin and valerian root advertised to improve sleep,

but no sufficient scientific evidence has ever been shown.

Melatonin, however, can be effective if you're struggling with circadian rhythm sleep disorders,

but not so much for insomnia.

So, with these strategies, hopefully you can improve your sleep as soon as possible.

Sleep better today so you don't have to let your dreams just be dreams.

The GOP War On Regulations Will Get A Lot Of People Killed - Duration: 5:24.

Donald Trump is proving himself to be a very useful tool of the Republican party.

I say, "Useful tool," because he's not the one really calling the shots.

The people calling the shots in Washington DC right now in the White House are his advisors.

Pro corporate millionaires and billionaires who are using Donald Trump to get everything

that they have ever wanted.

Case in point is regulations.

The entire Republican party has always been against any kind of government regulations.

They tell us that it kills jobs, or hurts American workers, it hurts businesses that

are out there just trying to do the right thing.

It cuts into profits, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

Point is, Donald Trump right now is carrying out the GOP war on regulations, all in the

name of helping the economy and helping the American workers.

Here are the facts, and these are facts that I have said many times, and I'll have to say

them many more times in the future.

Regulations create job.

Regulations create economic growth.

Destroying these regulations not only destroys parts of the economy, but it destroys American

jobs, and more importantly, destroys American's health.

Right now Donald Trump is taking aim at regulations at both the Environmental Protections Agency,

and the Department of Health and Human Services.

He wants these regulations, that protect American lives, and the U.S. environment, to go away.

Why?

Corporations want these regulations to go away, because they have to pay a little bit

more money to make sure that they're not poisoning citizens, poisoning the air, poisoning the

water, and destroying the environment.

They have to pay a little bit more.

Trump is there destroying these regulations.

You know what that means?

Regulations from the EPA, from I believe about 2010 to 2014, produced close to ... Excuse

me, 172 billion dollars of economic growth.

172 billion dollars of economic growth, and that is the lowest possible estimate.

Some estimates actually have that as high as 668 billion dollars in economic growth.

Now, these regulations cost 48 billion.

You spend 48 billion, you make a minimum of 172 billion dollars.

I don't know anyone on this planet who wouldn't take that investment.

Additionally, the last two presidents who have been pro regulation, Bill Clinton and

Barack Obama, saw job growth in the United States grow 2.5 times faster than the prior

Republican administrations who were anti regulation, George W. Bush, and Ronald Reagan.

Not too many numbers available from George H.W. Bush, because the study that Joe Romm

at ThinkProgress sighted actually only counts presidents who served two terms.

We're talking about regulations creative 2.5 times more jobs than Republican's who come

into office and kill regulations.

We're losing jobs under Donald Trump.

We're losing economic growth under Donald Trump.

That's what Republicans won't tell you.

They're not going to tell you the bad things that happen when they repeal regulations.

They're only going to tell you that, "Wow, this sure is going to help businesses create

more jobs."

Except the fact is, they don't.

There is no data to back up that claim, but there is data to prove them wrong.

Most people don't take the time to look at the data.

Most people don't take the time to go read about it.

They only know what they hear from Republican talking points coming out of now both the

White House, Republican Think Tanks, and Republican media.

They're not going to tell you that repealing clean air protections is going to lead to

thousands upon thousands of more deaths every single year in the United States.

They're not going to tell you that.

They're not going to tell you that gutting the Department of Health and Human Services

is going to reduce response time for any national epidemic, or pandemic that takes place.

Any time there is a health crisis in the United States, we won't be able to respond properly

or adequately.

That's going to cost lives.

They won't tell you that.

All they're going to tell you is, "Hey, we cut some funding from these government agencies

cause we want a balanced budget," as if that really matters for some reason.

They're not just going to take that money and put it into a savings account.

They're going to flip it over into the military, and buy more tanks, and guns, and bombs, and

go kill some more people overseas.

Meanwhile, they're going to completely ignore the fact that we have Americans dying because

we don't have clean air to breathe, or clean water to drink.

BMW F800GS off-road an a single track trail - Duration: 6:41.

hey guys, ALBE here before I bought my

f800gs I was trying to find out if i

could write it on a single track trail I

couldn't find much about it online but

if you are asking yourself the same

question you're in luck, Here it is

we're going to go along, drive along this trail over here until we

get single track and see if we can make

it out of it, so, but so far so good

still double trail so I believe a 4X4 (4WD)

can come on this portion of the trail just

as good as I do but I've been here once

before a long while ago and it's going

to get slimmer and slimmer until it

gets down to single track and let's hope

that the street is all there as well

the beauty of California houses the left

and wild areas to the right

it doesn't look steep but once you're on it

it feels pretty steep. I wish I had a little

bit knobbier tire in the back but ya

you've gotta make due with what you've got

so far so good, there's still planty of room

Here we go, here is where the track actually start thinning

down still easy enough

it looks pretty good

every once in a while you guys are going to see me slow down, because

at this point I have no idea where I'm going so

I slow down to give myself a little bit of

now there are other trails going up the

mountain over there, but I'm afraid I

don't have enough grip obviously the

power is good on the bike

the problem is the weight of the bike and

more so the tires now my tires are not

pure off-road, they are heidenau k60 scout in the back

and I have

a continental TKC 80 up front, so I'm not

worried about the front tire i'm a

little worried about the rear tire see

if it has enough grip to keep me going

now if this was a 400, 450, 550

off-road bike wouldn't be a problem but

this is on the light side of adventure bikes

so still 500-pound worth of bike, especially

'cause it rained not too long ago

not long ago i'm afraid

the earth is not going to be solid enough

so I guess the answer to that question

is definitely, if the trail doesn't get

too technical and if you have the guts

if you don't care about dropping it

I say go for it, it's fun and in my case

the more challenging it gets, the more

fun I have, but, around my house there's

not that much, so, has I said

probably easy to moderate, if even

moderate, it's probably more on the easy

side than anything else

so all in all this is quite a

great bike for some light off-roading while

while you travel around, you know either

being commuting or or actually touring

Today I'd like to talk to you about demonic attacks that begin at birth.

she was pregnant with you?

Was there trauma or chaos in the delivery room on the day of your birth?

Were you a "surprise" baby?

These questions expose the root of a demonic assignment from birth to kill, steal, and

destroy your destiny!

(John 10:10) We see in Rev. 12:4 that the dragon, Satan,

stood before the woman who was in labor so he could devour her Child as soon as it was

Identifying open doors for demonic torment is important.

Some are created through no fault of the individual.

Others will remain hidden unless revealed.

People battle with unseen forces that set up a legal right at birth.

Three Stories of Demonic Birth Assignments 1.

Watch Out Shia LaBeouf, the Cops are Watching You | Splash News TV - Duration: 1:02.

Shia LaBeouf has the attention of the NYPD.

Just hours after being released from police custody for allegedly getting into a physical

altercation with a guy at his anti-President Trump protest, the boys in blue have decided

to keep a watchful eye on the actor.

Still no word on how long they plan to monitor Shia, but we can imagine they're going to

hang around until they think he won't be a problem.

We caught in the early morning hours when he was released from the 114th Precinct, where

he waved to a handful of supporters and then hopped into a taxi.

And as we said, once he returned to the protest site, cops were on hand.

But maybe the heat was too much – because he ignored questions from reporters and quickly

ran away.

Also worth noting: it looks like he hasn't changed his clothes in about a week.

Guess when you have a message to spread, hygiene goes out

the window.

DIY plumbing tips how to install a new kitchen faucet - Duration: 5:48.

I'm Chris and today we're gonna install a new kitchen faucet

let's do this real quick

don't forget to pick up the supply lines you're gonna need when installing your new faucet

this is pretty much the basic tools you're going to need when installing your faucet

some sort of crescent wrench or two, pipe dope thread, joint compound

whatever you're going to use

some sort of supply lines specific for your installation

of course your faucet assembly and such like that

for an easy installation you really shouldn't need much more than this

if the installation becomes a little bit more difficult

there might be some additional tools that you have to use

depending upon what type of problems you run into

obviously we want to start by removing the old faucet first

and before you go ahead and do that

make sure you shut the main water off

the hot the cold and any water shut off to a dishwasher or spray head

anything else that might interfere

once you have all the water shut off you

can go ahead and start to take the supply lines off

in my case the old

portable dishwasher connection

is already shut off and disconnected

because i put it under the sink dishwasher in years ago

that was easy enough take off

now once again don't forget to shut the water off

now to my surprise the water was still on

this only happened because I was filming

and I took a couple takes filming

me shutting the water off and turning it back on

and such and somehow in that confusion

i forgot to actually shut the water off

it is no big deal but when you actually

go to shut the water off and go to

disconnect the supply lines there is

gonna be a little bit of water left in

the supply line so you want to make sure

you put some sort of towel or even a

bucket to catch that little bit of water

so you don't make a huge mess

you can also go ahead and disconnect the

supply line from the shut-off as well

now you can go ahead and actually remove

any of the nuts are mounting hardware

that actually keeps the faucet

attached to the sink

might be a good idea in my case

if I had used a deep socket to get it off

and once all the nuts are removed underneath

just simply lift everything out

I swear it's never is easy in real life

as it is in these YouTube videos

there is always some sort of a headache you have to deal with

a real quick tip for you

if you're using a pry bar to pry the faucet off

make sure you use your son's flip-flop

so you don't mark up the surface of your sink

so you don't have an extra headache to deal with later on

okay so the problem i ran into here was

the carriage bolt that attaches the faucet

to the sink somehow loosened up on the

top end of it and it was just spinning

there's really no way for me to hold it

to get the nut off plus the nut was

just seized on there

so I to take drastic measures to go ahead and get it off

now I could have in the center of the faucet

taken three screws out to take most of this stuff off

but those three screws were coming out either

so it was a little bit of a headache

but work safe

don't damage the sink

if you have to take drastic measures like this

to remove the old faucet

now that you have successfully and easily remove the old faucet

go ahead and take a minute just

to kind of clean everything up before

installing a new faucet

and once you have this under the sink

you want to go ahead and get your mounting nut

and place it on their first

secure that

then you're gonna grab your pipe dope

and in a clockwise fashion

you just go ahead and wrap it right around

and then you can go ahead

and start screwing on your supply line

you want to be careful with this stuff

you do not want to over tighten to much

just give it a good tight fit

go ahead and install that plastic spacer

between your new faucet and your kitchen sink

i really only think it's there just so you don't mark up the surface

it doesn't seem like it's a gasket or anything that

now i have a spray head attachment to my faucet

so go ahead

and make sure you hook that up correctly

the plastic nuts underneath you want to kind of just

hand tighten for the moment

do that on both sides obviously

and then on the top of your sink

kind of move your faucet around a little bit

just so you get in the correct position

and then once you have it in the position that you like

go ahead and tighten those plastic nuts down

firm you want them firm

you don't want the faucet to move or anything

but you also don't want to strip the threads on those nuts

and you don't want to break them

go ahead and

put the spray head hose inside there

and we're going to connect that up

go ahead and place your pipe thread on your threads

and then obviously connect your supply lines

it's not that difficult

when you're connecting your supply lines don't over-tighten them

you want them you want them firm

you don't want to over tighten them and crack them obviously

once you've connected your supply lines on the top

do the same thing on the bottom

connect the supply lines to your shutoffs

same way put your pipe tape on there

and connect them up

once you have all your supply lines connected

and you have rechecked and you made sure that they

were connected well

it's time to go ahead and test this out

so before we actually test it

we are going to go ahead

and remove the aerator from the faucet

we're only doing this just in case there was any junk in the lines

or in the faucet itself

and once you have that off

go ahead and turn your shutoffs on

and run your sink

make sure it runs for a little bit make sure everything works

make sure the hot cold work

make sure the spray head works

make sure everything swivels around

and there's no leaks around the base of the actual faucet

or anything like that

double check underneath make sure

there's nothing leaking underneath

and pretty much job well done

don't forget to go ahead and put your aerator back on

you are pretty much set and ready to go

Undocumented Student Stories: Manuel | De Anza College - Duration: 1:15.

I'm originally from Oaxaca, Mexico.

I came here when I was 11 years old,

along with my mother.

I'm currently pursuing biological sciences here at De Anza College.

And my major goal

is to get into dental school at UCSF

or UCLA. When I first tried getting a job,

it was very hard, since

I didn't know that

it was required to have a Social

Security number to work and I didn't

have that. I saw some other friends

getting a job when they were 16, so I wanted

to do the same thing, to start saving up

money for college and education. But it

was kind of impossible. Right now, people are really

worried about what's gonna happen with,

especially with DACA. It was a great

relief for undocumented students, so they

won't be afraid of being deported.

We're kind of worried, as well, like:

What's the future going to look like?

Coming to De Anza has provided me a lot of support,

especially from the EOPS program.

HEFAS has been such a great support, as well.

And there's a lot of other programs

on campus that have been very supportive.

The actor was dressed down, rocking a beard and reportedly bowling with a buddy in a pretty

deserted location.

You'll notice that McConaughey's bowling pal looks a bit younger, which might be why

they chose to label the game Jr. and Sr. due to the age difference…

But as you can see, the score is pretty much equal.

In fact, McConaughey looks like he's thrown a few gutter balls this round…

But at just $6.25 dollars per game, and $4.75 for that snazzy blue shoe rental, he isn't

losing any Gold over a lousy score.

The A-lister just appears to be like any other average Joe who likes to knock down some pins
