Waching daily Jan 10 2017

For Complex News, I'm Pierce Simpson.

With the College Football Playoff finally concluding the sports world can now focus

on two things: 1) the rest of the NBA season and 2) The NFL playoffs.

The latter of the two, began this past weekend with the Wildcard round, that witnessed a

little bit of everything from spectacular catches to last second heaves...

However, despite the excitement, this week's divisional round may be even better and a

lot of that has to do with the upcoming game between the Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons.

Atlanta has been on a roll this season, but fans can't count out the Seahawks considering

their recent success... but the Falcons may have an X-Factor: and that's Future.

The talented artist was a little quiet to end 2016-- but the news he shared with Drake

last week, had to provide a great start to 2017.

It also bodes well that his ex-fiancee and mother of his son, Ciara, dropped the lingering

defamation lawsuit against him.

However, these two probably won't reconcile this weekend in Atlanta for the game, and

in fact, the Atlanta Falcons won't use Future to their advantage.

According to Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com, Head Coach Dan Quinn told former player Hugh Douglass:

"We will absolutely not go down that road".

While the gesture seems nice, it's kind of perplexing to hear from an NFL coach -- especially

considering that this league is all about "gaining an edge"; I can understand Seattle

not doing it during home games, but turning against Atlanta's own?!

I don't get it.

I mean, it's obvious that the culture is dying for it, because according to HipHopDX, there

is a petition circulating around the web for Future to sing the national anthem prior to

kickoff.

I'm not too sure about Future's none-autotune singing abilities, but it's no telling how

players would react prior to kickoff with Future Hendrix celebrating America.

That's the news, for now, for more of today's stories be sure to keep it locked to Complex

We believe in small business

We believe small businesses are the backbone of strong economies

We believe small businesses are the innovators and the job creators

and we believe small business owners deserve a freakin' medal

We believe far, far too many small businesses fail

And we believe it doesn't have to be that way We believe in hard work

We believe in grit We believe in tenacity

And we believe in helping those who help themselves We believe cynics should be punched in the nose

- the devil doesn't need another advocate

We believe if they can't say it to your face they probably shouldn't be saying it at all

We believe happy-clappy, namby-pamby optimism is only useful when united with brutal truth

But we believe high fives are perfectly acceptable ways to greet strangers

We believe ego makes you stupid We believe fear makes you stupid

We believe stress makes you stupid We believe a fresh new round of funding can,

and sometimes does, make you stupid We believe that stupid happens to everyone,

but fortunately it's not a permanent condition We believe the past does not define who we

are today, anymore than the today defines who we will be tomorrow

We believe culture is created when passionate people pursue a worthy purpose.

(And we believe we have one.)

We believe passionate people are willing to do the hard work

Passionate people constantly innovate Passionate people own their mistakes and share

what they've learned Passionate people see change and challenges

as opportunities for growth, and therefore…

We believe if you're uncomfortable with change and uncertainty, this is not your game.

We believe Culture eats Strategy for breakfast And speaking of breakfast, we believe that

while cereal and soda doesn't define our culture, Nerf gun battles are

(and always will be) a perfectly acceptable mid-day activity at the office.

We believe those who DO, will easily beat those who DON'T

Therefore…

We believe those who DO follow-up with their customers will win

Those who DO automate their businesses will win

Those who DO personalize their messaging will win

Those who DO ask for the sale will win

We believe selling is serving if what you're selling doesn't suck

We believe great products are the most powerful sales rep a business can have

We believe people can't buy from you if they don't know you exist, and that's why…

We believe those who do great marketing (and have a great product) will win every time.

We believe that while sometimes s#%& happens, all problems are leadership problems

And speaking of leaders…

We believe leaders don't always have all the answers (and that's ok)

We believe leaders should lead from the front We believe leaders should always take responsibility

even when it isn't "their fault" We believe the BEST leaders establish vision,

multiply people, deliver results…all while caring more about their team than themselves

And speaking of caring…

We believe there are jerks who just don't care, but they're massively outnumbered

by those who do.

We care.

We're a software company that cares more about our customers than just the bits and

bites We're a software company that cares more

about small businesses than giant enterprises We're a software company that cares more

about changing the world than lining our own pockets

We're a software company that cares… …and we believe that makes all the difference.

The Infected part 1 (parts 1-3) - Duration: 11:59.

I woke up at 6AM drenched in sweat from a particularly bad dream.

This has been happening all too often.

Thankfully I live alone.

Since I was awake, I decided to go downstairs and make some coffee, I had a lot of work

to do today.

Per usual I opened up reddit while sipping on my coffee.

At the top of /r/all I saw a post with 35K upvotes saying "Did you all just feel that?"

I assumed it was a joke at first as most of those threads are, and I assumed that the

35K upvotes was just a moderator screwing with us.

I opened the thread expecting to see a joke comment on top.

What I saw was totally unexpected.

Thousands upon thousands of comments about how they all felt their floor shake at exactly

1:06AM (my time if you corrected for time zones).

The people from california, japan, and other places where there were earthquakes said that

this felt different, and that they were scared.

Reddit readers were trying to piece together tweets, news reports, and reddit posts about

the incident to try and figure out where the epicenter was.

I was confused because so many people felt it, and many had been jostled out of a deep

sleep, yet I had not felt a thing.

Maybe my nightmares were too much.

I flipped the news on my TV.

There was a report on CNN about the event.

I listened intently when all of a sudden the breaking news banner came on.

The news anchors looked unsettled.

I watched closely as the lead anchor said with a quivering voice, "ladies and gentlemen

we have just received a video to show you that may be unsettling.

Ive never seen anything like this before in my life.

It is video from a gas station surveilance camera from small town in New Hampshire called

Wolfeboro."

I inhaled sharply as that was my small town.

Maybe this is why I didnt feel it.

I leaned forward on my couch, waiting in anticipation of the video.

It starts, showing a person seemingly floating down the street by the gas station.

It is a grainy video, but his eyes are glowing, further unsettling me as I watch.

All of a sudden at exactly 1:06AM the person stops hovering and starts convulsing.

I watch in horror as the man erupted in fire and dissapeared from view into the ground,

after which the gas station video cut off.

The CNN anchor comes back and says that at that exact time a local seismograph recorder

something never before seen, an earthquake at the center of the earth, radiating to the

entire planet at once.

The CNN anchor then said that they enhanced the video to try and identify who or what

that monstrous thing was.

As they show the enhanced video I slowly start to recognize the person.

It was me.

I ran to the bathroom in a panic.

I splashed water on my face hoping that this was all just another one of my bad dreams.

It wasnt.

I looked at myself in the mirror, trying so hard to remember what had happened last night.

It seemed normal to me, after dinner I had sat down and watched the Bruins game, then

surfed reddit until I went to bed.

All I knew was that I needed to find the answer, by whatever means necessary.

I went to Best Buy and bought 5 video cameras and staged them both in my bedroom and in

other rooms in my house.

The entire time I was shaking, hoping that no one would recognize me in the video.

I thought to myself that it was impossible, since I didnt really interact with anyone

in town, and my closest neighbor was over a half mile away from me.

As I was setting up my cameras and connecting them to my computer, my phone rang.

I assumed it was my mother calling to see if I was OK, but when I looked down at the

phone it said Unknown caller. Ill admit I panicked.

At that moment there were so many things running through my mind.

I decided to let it go to voicemail.

It didnt work, and the unknown number called again.

Taking a deep breath I answered the call and in the calmest voice I could muster I said

Hello?

Who is this? The voice on the other end of the line was raspy, and all they said was

I know who you are. Well if I hadnt been panicked before, now I certainly was.

This was a different level of scary.

How could this person know what happened when I myself didnt even know?

I finished setting up the cameras with my now shaking hands.

My mind was racing.

I tried to think back to when the nightmares started.

It seemed to be right after I started my new job as an EMT.

Maybe it was constantly responding to people being injured that was giving me the nightmares,

but nothing could explain what had happened last night.

I tried to remember the nightmare, but I couldnt.

I went back to the reddit thread to see if they had any additional news.

The top post now had 50K upvotes, and the title was now updated to Does anyone know

this man? I opened the thread with my hands shaking, and proceeded to read thousands of

comments with people suggesting who it was, with some more detailed than others.

I then decided to do a Ctrl+F search of my name.

To my horror my name came up in a comment made 3 hours ago, but with only 1 upvote.

There were no other details given, just my name.

I decided to PM the account who made the comment.

I said who is this and why did you write my name? I got a reply almost immediately

that said because I know who you are, and I know what you can become. At this point

I was almost too scared to reply, but I had to.

I wrote back we need to talk, can we meet somewhere? Again almost instantly I received

a reply.

Only that reply wasnt an inbox message, but a knock on the door to my house.

I looked through the peephole and saw a middle aged man wearing a suit outside my door, and

holding a government badge.

I opened the door with shaking hands to let my visitor in.

He greeted me with the same raspy voice and said its about time, why the hell did

you hang up on me? I told him that I was scared because I had no idea who he was, and

how he would know about what happened to me last night.

We went to the living room together and sat on the couch, and all I could muster was the

courage to ask What happened last night? He told me to sit tight and to allow him to

finish the entire story before I asked any questions.

He told me that he had been watching me ever since I treated a patient two weeks ago, right

before the nightmares had begun.

He started talking about the patient, and I remembered the exact encounter that he was

describing.

It was a 15 year old patient from the high school in town who we were called to because

of his irrational behavior.

We just assumed he was on drugs, and so we started him on an IV and brought him to the

hospital.

My visitor informed me that the patient was in fact not on drugs, and that he had been

the subject of a government investigation ever since he had stumbled upon a meteorite

in the woods of Wolfeboro.

You see, the visitor said, we believe he was infected by something in the meteorite,

something that has now infected you. I tried to take that all in, as he paused

to allow me to ask any questions before he continued.

I asked him if the 15 year old had experienced anything like I had.

He told me in a very serious tone that the boy had experienced nightmares, but nothing

like what happened last night.

He told me that I would have to be taken into custody by the government in order for them

to do tests, and to prevent anything like what happened last night from happening again.

I didnt want to go with him, but I was told it wasnt really a choice.

I packed a bag and readied myself for what was to come.

My visitor told me that I couldnt tell even my parents where I was going.

We left the apartment and I got into an unmarked black car, and the visitor shut the door behind

me.

We drove for what seemed like hours, and finally came to a stop beside a run-down old farmhouse.

The car door is opened for me and I get out.

We enter the farmhouse and there is a massive locked door in the floor.

The visitor puts in a long code and scans his fingerprint, and the door opens, revealing

a massive underground laboratory.

We enter the lab, and I saw at least 20 people in lab coats running around.

I notice a large window, looking into a room where there is only a table with restraints

on it.

I start to get chills as I realize that the table is probably meant for me.

The visitor told me he was taking me to the head scientist, and we entered a large conference

room where an older gentleman is sitting at the end of the table.

His face beamed with excitement when he saw me, and he said Im so glad they were

able to bring you here, we will be learning a lot more about the infection inside of you,

and we are hoping that it will lead to a cure and a return to normalcy for you. I could

only hope that would be the outcome.

His voice got a bit softer, however, and the smile disappeared as he told me that they

would need to put me to sleep to do the tests.

He told me that they were not sure if this sleep would have the same result as before,

but they were prepared for anything that could happen and assured me that they would try

to keep me safe.

I agreed only because at this point I wasnt sure if I could even disagree with them.

I felt like I should cooperate or else I was going to be forced into participating.

I entered the room, walked over to the table and laid down.

4 scientists came and strapped me in, holding back all of my limbs.

Another scientist entered the room with a needle, and told me that it was a sedative

meant to put me to sleep.

He injected the sedative, and the scientists watched me drift into sleep.

I closed my eyes, hoping to make the sleep come sooner.

Right as I was about to pass into blissful slumber, I overheard the scientists talking.

They must have thought I was already asleep.

I heard one of them say Contact the President of the United States, there will be no one

to stop us now that we have the infected subject in our possession. When I realized what

was happening I tried to scream out, but at that moment the urge to sleep became overwhelming,

and everything faded to blackness.

Spotlight: 2015 Ford F-250 Powerstroke Leveled on 20X10s and 35's! - Duration: 5:26.

Hey Guys, Shawn again, Custom Offsets.

Custom Offsets TV on the YouTube.

We've got another vehicle spotlight for you.

This one's gonna be a 2015,

another one of those Super Duty Platinums.

We're definitely lucky to be

seeing these on the regular.

This one's got a leveling kit.

It's got 645MB Dropstars.

20 x 10's and some 35's.

Let's go!

(rap music)

(rock music)

Hey guys, like I said we got a

2015 Ford Super Duty F-250 and this one

is going to be the Platinum so it's got

all the bells and whistles.

What he did is, he had us come in here,

and do the front leveling kit.

So for that one it's got a spacer down at the bottom

of the coil and it's a two inch spacer.

So it levels out the truck.

With that, he chose the 20 x 10 and it's a

negative 19 offset, and these

are the Dropstar 645MB.

The MB being the machine and black.

So you'll see this is all, the whole face

is machined and then clear coated.

And then it's got the rivets all around

so it goes really well with the chrome steps

and then the chrome handles and everything.

It kind of just sets it off and matches up

with that truck.

Now, what we love about the Dropstar

they really focus on that wheel lip.

So, even though it's a 10-wide negative 19,

it's got like, a five inch lip on it.

So it's almost got the look of like, a 12-wide.

But yet he got to stay in, and not, you know,

sticking out as much as the 12-wide

throwing up stuff up the side of the truck.

As far as tires, this is that new AMP M-T Attack.

And it's their mud terrain.

This one is a 35 12 and a half, and you can see

it's got a really aggressive side wall,

and then just a little bit different pattern.

This is that one that we actually just

showed on our Hummer.

And with that setup it had very little trimming

whatsoever so I would say that, you know,

with a leveling kit on the F-250

that 10-wide negative 19 and that 35 12 and a half

is what you'd call perfect fitment.

It didn't hit anything on the front

and didn't take any extra trimming there.

As far as the rest of it,

it's pretty much stock.

But it's a Platinum, so it already has

every feature you could imagine.

He just added a tonneau cover

on the back of it.

That lo pro

so it sits almost perfectly flush.

Give you a little peek inside.

These have a really sexy interior on 'em.

It's got all the wood grain and everything.

Big display screen.

And you can see he's one of those badass dads with

some boosters in the back.

Junior wishes he'd got picked up in high school

two years ago in a Super Duty Platinum.

So...

...lookin' sick. Like I said, this pretty much

when you're looking at the newer styles 2015

Super Duty's that two inch level,

10-wide negative 19 35 12 and a half is pretty much

perfect if you don't want to do much trimming.

You can fit a 12-wide in there

and you've just got to get in like you seen

in some of our previous ones and

remove some of those braces up front

on the bumper and whatnot.

But other than that,

it's a perfect fitment.

Do we need to get a shot down the side of that thing?

I would say it's probably sticking out about

three inches up front

two, two and a half in the back?

- [Junior] Yeah.

- So it's nice and aggressive.

I think it's a perfect look.

I really like how this turned out.

Cause he's got the chrome on the badges,

the chrome on the mirrors,

chrome on the handles and the steps.

And then the machining on that just makes it pop

as well as the silver grille up front, so.

It's a sick setup.

This whole thing was like, 2,700 bucks.

Installed, aligned, absolutely everything.

I think that's the best part about it.

It's not a ton of money,

especially after spending a ton of money.

And it makes it look the way the

truck should've looked from the factory.

So, this was another vehicle spotlight.

Make sure you subscribe to us out

on the YouTube and

share us on the Facebook.

Peace.
