Hello everyone, my name is Kellee Carney and I live in Llano, Texas
Which is located in the hill country region of the state. I
Have two feline children their names are gizmo and Kramer and I am an avid hockey fan
I follow both the Dallas Stars and their AHL affiliate the Texas Stars. I
Currently work as a software trainer for one of the largest healthcare systems in the state. I
Mostly train new employees who will be working in clerical positions while occasionally working with those in clinical roles such as nurses
therapists and lab techs
The positions I train most frequently include clinic check-in clerks
Hospital admission staff and financial counselors as well as call center staff and managers. I
train basics like customer service and telephone etiquette as
Well as how to use the electronic medical record software to perform specific job functions
One of the differences I see in the application of instructional design and education and other industry is the purpose or goal
K through 12 education is intended to provide students with basic knowledge and skills for life and adulthood
while corporate or other industry training is provided with the goal of preparing the
individual to perform their specific job function within the organization
K through 12 education also often allows the teacher to create their own lesson plans that include required materials
Corporate trainers on the other hand are often required to follow curriculum very strictly with very little room for change or personalization
My professional goal is to move into an instructional design position within the company I currently work for
As a trainer I often see areas of the curriculum I am required to use that could use quite a bit of improvement
My goal as an instructional designer would be to develop
instructional materials that are useful and effective for both the trainer and the student
this material would include curriculum for instructor led training as well as web-based learning modules and
hands-on scenarios base
Hands-on scenario-based learning through the software training environment. I'm
Really looking forward to this class and learning alongside all of you. Thanks for watching my intro
