English for Russian Speakers - Ten Common Preposition Mistakes (with subtitles) - Duration: 7:03.

Hello everyone, and welcome back to

English Tips for Russian Speakers'.

Normally every week I give you one

English tip so you can improve your

English, but this week I'm going to do

things a little bit differently. This

week I'm going to present to you ten

common preposition mistakes that Russian

speakers make. Let's get started with that.

Prepositions are difficult. There's no

question about it. It might be the most

difficult thing in the English language.

English language learners from all

around the world struggle with these, not

just two Russian speakers. I just

want to say two things about it. First,

they are totally learnable. You can learn

them. It just takes a lot of effort. It

takes a lot of work. It takes a lot of

practice. It takes a lot of studying...but

you can do it. Second, when you make a

preposition mistake it's usually such a

small mistake that it doesn't really change

the meaning of what you're saying.

It's not a big deal, so you shouldn't

prevent yourself from speaking because

you're afraid of making preposition

mistakes. They're really, really tiny

mistakes okay. The way I'm going to do

this is I'm going to show you a slide,

and there's going to be ten sentences on

the slide, and you should guess what the

correct preposition is. I will talk

about the right answers in all the

slides that follow this slide.

As you will surely notice, there are two choices

for each sentence, and you have to choose

the correct answer. Sometimes the

answer might be no preposition, and

that's a case when Russian speakers put

a preposition there where there

shouldn't be a preposition.

Ok, that's it. I hope you

found this useful, and I hope you are

more confident in using prepositions - at

least these prepositions - and I really

hope you make an effort to try to master

prepositions, because you can learn them.

It just takes a lot of work. A few
