hi guys if you want to ruin your

landscape photography shoot, i can tell

you a few good ways in which you can do

that. I've made a lot of mistakes in my

very short landscape photography career. I don't

know what I was thinking and I've lost

all the light. I was shooting at f/4 of an

aperture value which means a very

shallow depth-of-field. Secondly i forgot

the shutter release at home, and seascape

photography is all about timing. i do not

have any shutter release cable attached. You want to

catch the wave as it comes towards you.

You want to catch the wave as it is

going back.

So today is attempt number two. The

weather is looking extremely nice which

is a brilliant opportunity for me to

get some Redemption.

Hi guys welcome to sunset beach, welcome to

my playground

We are back and hopefully i will not be

making blunders that I made two days ago.

So I've got my shutter release cable.

I've got the camera settings checked.

I've got my battery chargerd I've got

the sd card formatted. And this is a list

that I follow, you can find it on my

website. I'll put the pre-shoot

checklist in the description below.

Fortunately for us the clouds are quite

high and i am expecting a gorgeous

sunset as always.

Simplicity is beauty as well.

Things do not have to be extraordinary

to be beautiful.

It's not my own quote by the way, I heard

it in a movie. So there are a few options

that I have right now,

one is that I enjoy the walk on the

beach. It is making me feel alive after a

very long time. And the other option is

that i set up and taken photos. I think

i'm gonna do the setup right now for you

guys. I must tell you that this is the

simplest shoot in the world. It's the

mountain.

It's the beach. It's the sun behind the

mountain, and that's it. The only thing that

can go wrong is mother nature bringing

more clouds or me screwing up everything.

It is a simple as that there are no tricks in

this shoot. There are no tricks. So I'm in

aperture priority mode, I normally start

with a aperture priority mode. I am putting

up my LEEFilter holder kit in case I

need to use filters. I have reset my ISO

to ISO 64. On the D810 that's the best

possible ISO that one can have. Well,

you can go lower than that but i like to keep it

on the factory default.

which is ISO 64. Cleaning up my lens.

The lens is clean. The lens cloth

must be handy. And here is my shutter

release.

For this beach normally, I try to use these

small rock as my foreground. And no i do

not get tired of the beach, i do not, i

love this place.

The scene is just simple. A few rocks on

white sand, reflection in the middle-ground

Table Mountain on my left. A drowning sun

on my right side. One good click and I am

done.

what am I looking for in my composition?

Well as you can see the waves are not

very aggressive, they're sneaking in and

they are going back into the sea and

leaving a beautiful reflective mirror

on the sand. It is almost acting like soup.

I feel like having ice skates on, and

going into that sea. Far into the

horizon.

The sunset about five minutes ago.

One of the rules that I learned the hard

way is that you need to keep shooting

even after the sunset. The magic has only

just begun. The photo here are going to

be quite similar.

I only have this beach so please do not

think that my composition is boring and

i am showing you photos over and over

again. It is just that that I need to take the

opportunity while i'm at the beach. I need

to take photos from various angle and choose

from the best. I am of the opinion that

if you have the opportunity, avail it.

Chane your angles. Compress the scene.

uncompressed the scene. And also try to take

vertical photos. Just in case, just in

case....

I really enjoyed my sunset. I really

deperate for a beautiful sunset for a

landscpae photography because of my work

Negativity Sandwich - USE WHENEVER YOU HAVE SOMETHING NEGATIVE TO SAY! - Duration: 3:28.

One of my all-time favorite trick is

something I like to call the negativity

sandwich

this trick is useful in any scenario in

which you need to tell someone something

negative it could be a friend was asking

you for some constructive criticism on

his art it could be when you have to

break up with your girlfriend

it could be when you have to give an

intervention to your buddy about his

drug problem

all you have to do is say something

positive first then say whatever

negative thing you have to say and then

immediately follow this up with another

positive statement what this does is it

reduces the bad feelings associated with

the negative statement when you're

interacting with others they are

significantly less likely to get

consumed emotionally this is great for

getting constructive points across

without damaging your relationships with

them for example when I was in charge of

the sales team i had an employee was

really good at sales was always late and

when you let one person be late the rest

follow my brought him into my office and

I said Jay you're really good salesman

without a doubt one of the best in the

office you're almost everything i could

ask for

however this constant lateness man if I

keep letting you slide the rest of the

team is going to start slacking to if it

happens again I'm going to have to let

you go

which is something i really don't want

to do because i like you a lot as a

friend and I respect your skills as a

salesperson and I know if you just show

up on time you're going to close a lot

more deals and then you'll be without a

doubt the best salesperson in this

office as you can see right here the

first part of this conversation was very

positive the middle was sort of negative

it was pointing at his faults and i

finished it with another positive

statement and after just talked with him

he was never late again here's another

example a good friend of mine has a drug

problem

this is how I would approach him in

regards to that issue

honest with you I think you're really

smart dude some of the things you say

sound like they came right out of a

philosophy textbook i have no doubt no

doubt in my mind that you have two

potential to accomplish anything you

want in life

that this constant abuse man it's

ruining your life you're losing the

respect of people around you are having

issues with woman you're accomplishing a

lot less than what you're capable of

you're a drug addict if you just focus

your time and energy on something

productive i'm sure you can do anything

that you like I really do think you're

smarter than half the guys I hang out

with you have a lot of potential Tyler a

lot

don't let drugs take that from you again

you can clearly see the first part of

this conversation is very positive the

middle is negative and the last part of

the conversation is again positive the

reason the negativity sandwich works so

well is because you're providing

positive emotions at the beginning and

ending of an event people are more

likely to remember the beginning and

endings of certain events so when they

look back at the conversation that you

had don't think of it in a very positive

light you'll say wow you know that was a

very constructive conversation and

they'll think about the things you said

however when you don't do this some

people will take it the wrong way and

they'll take it as a personal insult you

feel like the whole conversation itself

was just- district has helped me through

a lot of critical conversations in my

life so I hope you guys found some value

about some tactical things with the channel,

how do you organize the channel?

YOLANDA GAMPP: Well, we have playlists of different cakes.

So we just think of ways as we get

more and more content to add new playlists

or change up the playlist.

People can know exactly what they want to see and then

just get sucked in and watch over and over, which is great.

ELLIE HINKEN: Now, Whitney, you've got three channels.

So you've got a lot to work with.

But I'm curious if you could speak a little bit to uploading

schedules.

WHITNEY WHITE: I usually try to post a hair

video on the weekend.

I'll usually try to post the weekly vlog now

on the weekends.

And then the other channel just kind of fits

in wherever it fits in.

Scheduling is so big, and I know that it's really helpful.

And it's what your audience can rely on.

They can go to your channel at a certain time on a certain day.

That's like the ultimate goal for me.

YOLANDA GAMPP: We constantly get asked to put out

more than one video a week.

But we know in reality we cannot do that.

We would have to give up sleep.

So we've never tried to do it, because we're

like, once we do it, if we take it back,

they're going to be upset.

SARA LYNN CAUCHON: I think consistency just breeds trust.

So we did very much what Yolanda did on her channel.

Our viewers know Monday and Thursday, you're

going to get a brand-new video.

But I would definitely say one thing that's really important,

when you're setting the schedule for yourself,

make sure it's realistic and within the parameters

you can maintain.

Because when you start breaking that consistency, when

you start breaking that trust, viewers can start to get upset.

WHITNEY WHITE: I have to cosign what you said,

because when I went from daily vlogging to weekly vlogging,

they were very upset.

Consistency is really important.

And even if you can't pick an exact date,

just always be there.

Just try to get the content out there.

And if you mess up on a video, just

put something else out there.

Just let them know, oh, hey, I messed up,

so let's do a Q&A or something like that.

Just always have something out there

for your audience to consume.

How Many People Would We Need To Colonize Another Earth? - Duration: 4:39.

If you were stranded on an desert island, on an exoplanet, hundreds of years away from

Earth - how many people would you need with you to survive?

Hey everyone, Emily here for DNews!

Elon Musk - founder of SpaceX - recently stated that he wants to put 1 million people on Mars

within a century.

He'd bring everyone there with about a thousand spaceships, each making multiple trips between

Earth and Mars.

If anything bad happened to threaten the existence of this colony, we could quickly replenish

the population with a new batch of humans sent from Earth.

This strategy works because it only takes a few months to reach Mars.

But what if we wanted to colonize a world beyond our solar system, hundreds of years

away?

How big of a spaceship would we need, and how many humans would we need to start with

to make colonization possible?

Take Proxima B as an example.

It's the closest planet we know about outside of our solar system.

It's rocky and similar in size to the Earth, and has the potential to support liquid water

on its surface.

The problem is, we can't just hop over there.

It's 4 light-years away.

With current technology, it could take us more than 20,000 years to get there.

That's about 800 generations of humans - making this type of journey fairly impossible.

Luckily, there are programs like the 100 Year Starship project and Stephen Hawking's Project

Starshot that are working to develop new propulsion technologies that could get us there much

sooner - possibly within a few hundred years.

Assuming they're successful, how many people would we need to start a colony?

A study published in Acta Astronautica suggests that you would need a starship filled with

at least 14,000 carefully screened people to end up with a stable population after a

multi-century interstellar journey.

Even more people - up to 44,000 would ideal.

You'd have to account for potential catastrophes like plague, asteroid strikes, or even war.

A few hundred years is a long time to be in one spaceship - a lot of things could happen!

In the study, the researchers used population genetics theory - modeling how the genetics

of a population changes over generations - and accounted for one catastrophe during a 5-generation

voyage.

Populations over 14,000 maintain good health during a trip of this length despite relatively

high inbreeding and reduced genetic diversity over time.

As a colony, we'd need to do everything we could to keep genetic diversity high - it's

something that plays an essential role in the adaptability and survival of a species.

Think about it - some humans would live out their entire life on this interstellar spacecraft.

As a child, you would grow up - have kids of your own with other passengers on board

- and eventually grow old and die.

But the only partners available to you would be the limited number of members on board

the spacecraft.

You'd have to be extremely careful when choosing your partner because inbreeding can

lead to some serious problems.

Just take a look at our early ancestors.

For thousands of years, Neanderthals, our ancient cousins, lived in small, isolated

populations, which lead to inbreeding.

By studying their fossils, researchers have discovered a range of deformities - many of

which are rare in modern humans.

An even larger issue with small populations may be the community's ability to formulate

their own culture, acquire knowledge and develop technology.

The combination of these issues could lead to the downfall of a species altogether.

We could have the same problems in a starship.

Maintaining a large population with sufficient genetic diversity is key to a successful,

sustainable colonization of a new world.

Of course, a population of 14,000 is still a lot of people, especially when you consider

the fact that the highest number of people we've ever brought into space at once is

eight.

In order to meet that 14,000-human minimum requirement - we're going to need a bigger

ship.

Or.. many medium-sized ships.

Distributing your population across multiple ships would also distribute the risk of losing

that population entirely.

And then maybe, you'd be able to distribute the human species to another solar system.

But of course, all of this assumes that humans can invent a propulsion system that's 100

to 1,000 times faster than anything we have today.

So perhaps, we should stick to the planets in our own backyard for now.
