Hello friends! My name is Arith Härger and today I'm going to draw for you
that's right
today it's a little bit different
today I'm not going to paint, but I'm going to make a drawing
well...
you probably won't learn anything new today
well, that's not necessarily true
there is always something to learn
but
the thing is...
I'm not going to paint, I'm not going to show you how to paint something
I'm just going to draw
aah...
because the objective of this video is to keep you company
and since I'm feeling a little bit lonely today, and want you to make me company as well
oh by the way!
this is... Gordon
and if you have seen the previous video, you already know him
now, what I'm going to do today is to create a black and white drawing
I usually go for... just black pens or...
ink
when I want to create something mysterious, magical or eerie
so today I'm going to create something a little bit macabre
so I'm going to use... just...
pens!
and...
pens such as these, your regular black pen
alright, lets get started
well, I took the liberty in drawing the figures of this work, already
because I didn't want to waste a lot of time in showing you how to create these figures
there are plenty of tutorials out there in how to make the human figure
however...
I've made a little study, before
right here
in how to make the female figure and also skeletons
and if you want to check out this sketch
in the description of this video I will leave a link directly to the album where I put my sketches on my Facebook page
now, when it comes to create the human body it's still very difficult to me
however...
skeletons are my speciality when it comes to create humanoid figures
that doesn't mean I do them well
it's just...
it's easier for me to create a skeleton than a person with flesh, with muscles...
...and flesh and expressions
I'm not sure if you can see in this drawing
but there are a couple of skeletons in here, and there are two female figures
with
flesh
and muscles
and everything
well...
two human figures
normal human figures
and then a couple of skeletons
well, skeletons are just... skeletons (duh)
there are no differences in gender
well...
in truth... there are differenes of course
I'm sure an anthropologist will look at the skeletons and see the differences between a male and a female...
ah... skeleton
and the ages, the...*sniffs*... the race... everything
but... for the naked eye
the only real difference you cansee on a skeleton
is on the pelvis
on this part, this lower part
the pelvis of the f-female, is a little bit more round
ah-while the male is more of straight lines
of course there are other differences in a skeleton
as I've told you, an anthropologist will see it
will see all the differences there are
but...
all the other people in general won't see much diffrence so...
skeletons are easy to create because you don't have to give them emotions or anything
skeletons are just that
well, of course, archaeologists also have to know a little bit about... *sniffs* skeletons! *giggles*
I remember my first archaeological work
I found... uhm... a tooth
a molar
from a child betweeen nine and twelve years of age
the tooth dated back to 200... no! Not 200! 2000! 2000 years ago... almost 2000 years ago!
and yes, that was my first discovery
in archaeology
well, I'm sorry to be recording this video like this
but I barely have space... to put my drawing in here and draw the way I want
let alone having a camera
to...
record this, so...
I'm so sorry
I think you are going to see the rest of the video like this :c
as I was saying
my second work in archaeology
was also in a burial context
this time was not a child but a male
a male from the Palaeolithic I believe?
no...
possibly from the Mesolithic
there isn't much difference, is there? :P
well
it was a full skeleton with 3 legs
*giggles*
yes there was a leg in there that didn't belong to him
skeletons have always fascinated me (wtf)
and at the same time I always felt disturbed
by their existance
you see...
I was very young when I found about skeletons
I mean...
I always dreamt about them, I always dreamt about weird things
but skeletons... was different
they fascinated me
but when I was more or less like 1 year
probably...
2 years old
not more than that
I found that I, myself, was a skeleton
beneath my flesh
I was at bed and...
well
as always... for 28 years I haven't slept much
and I've always been quite awake at night
so...
at the age of one and a half / 2 years old
I was...
I was figuring out how my body worked
my...
my flesh and...
I was touching my face... I remember that I was touching my face and...
well, it felt soft and there were these muscles and skin and all
but then when I reached... with my fingers, when I reached my eye
I realized that it was softer than all the rest
and...
that my fingers could go almost inside the skin
because... that's where the eye was *giggles*
and it's soft and there is a hole in there
and I realized that I had holes in my... in my eyes
and then I started to t-thouch my face and my cheeks and my.... my teeths
and everything... and I realized that...
I was exactly, beneath my skin, I was exactly the thing that I used to dream about
I was a skeleton!
and you can imagine that was really disturbing for a child
and more disturbing even...
is that...
is
when I realised that I was growing old
and everyone around me was growing old
and
at... sss-at-at a certain point in life they would become skeletons
all of us would become skeletons
aaand...
skeletons are these... are these weird things that you become, without emotion
it's not...
it's not a person anymore, it's... it's what's left behind
from what used to be a person
all the emotions, all the laughter...
everything that makes a human
its very essence, it's gone! And what's left behind it's this... it's this creatures...
and I was ho-horrified when I was very little. I was horrified by the fact that everyone was...
eventually...
becoming a skeleton
everyone was sort of dying and...
would become this thing
(and) my parents, my grandparents, my friends, everyone that I loved... and even myself
we were all becoming weird things, weird creatures
and I just couldn't conceive the fact that...
what makes us humans would be gone someday and we were just being these weird creatures... right here
It took me sometime to get used to the idea that we were all dying and we would eventually become skeletons
but there was nothing I could do and eventually I accepted it
that's when... skeletons started to fascinate me
I was about... 3 / 4 years old
and my father used to take me to a music store
it was a huge store
and
I used to go there to listen to Opera
I very much liked Opera at that time
Pavarotti and stuff
aahhmm...
also...
I would go directly, before listening to Opera, I would go directly to Iron Maiden
to watch
the albums... not to listen to the music but to watch the albums
all those skeletons... brilliant albums!
I was just fascinat- fascinated about that!
it was brilliant!
and one day my father lost me, but not for... for a lot of time
he lost me... in that mega store...
but
herrra- he realized that I was probably in the Iron Maiden albums
and yes! There I was... very little...
a little fellow
with... *giggles*
with a blonde hair, almost white...
I was a cute little fellow
but there I was...
watching the Iron Maiden albums
all those skeletons and everything... it was... it was brilliant!
and then in 1997, when I was 9 years of age...
there came the first Diablo game from Blizzard
well, you can bet there were a lot of skeletons in there
and my fascination for them just grew
this was my way to...
well
to accept the inevitable
and so...
life went on
as you have probably noticed here
even if the footage is a crap
it's completely upside down
I am creating ah... a very dark figure in here
a skeleton figure... with shadows all around
it probably means death
death is coming for these two little girls in here
I will call this work...
Quod Sumus Hoc Eritis
(old door slowly opens)
oh no!
I think I've summoned something...
("Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies" melody begins)
Gordon!
what are you doing?
Ah!
*choking sounds*
Oh no you don't! You little bastard!
I'm still alive! D:
ah!
Gordon was trying to take hold of my drawing
he would probably have made a better job, of course, but not today
so, as I was saying, this drawing will be called "Quod Sumus Hoc Eritis"
and it's latin and it means: "such as we are, so shall you be" or "you will be"
this is exactly what I've been telling you since the beginning of this drawing
eventually we all become equal
we are all equal in death
yes...
I should have warned you that... this video today wasn't going to be funny or cheerful
I'm so sorry
you are still in time to go back and just click on another video
death is a very delicate subject
aaaand
even... even now in the XXI century
for some people it's still a taboo
one of these days I will probably make a video about death
well, not death itself but Hel, or Hela, the Norse goddess of death
I think...
I think it's necessary, not only because people think that Hela is a goddess...
a-an evil goddess, because she's the goddess of death, and the dead and all of that
but
because death itself is still something that troubles us a lot
it troubles me... it troubles me a lot
so one of these days I will probably make a video about Hela, the goddess of death
because there is no life without death
and, of course, vice versa
but... death is necessary to give way to a new life
now, enough of talking about death
lets talk about something more pleasant
lets talk about me :)
nã, I'm joking of course
if the objective of this video is to make you company
and for you to be my company
during the creation of this work
I cannot go around talking about death and unpleasant things
I have to talk about something else
and as I've told you already
I will eventually talk about death
death related to the Norse deities
but
this is not the time, this is not appropriate
although I am creating a work about death
but... well... lets just talk about something else
alright, it's turning like this Buuuuuooo...
creepy... you can already see there is a figure in there and another one in there
so lets... lets keep going
alright you can already see the silhouette of the girls in here
poor little things, they are frightened
I would be too, if I was surrounded by these terrible creatures, these skeletons
going to make a break
I need to eat something so see you in a second *giggles*
alright I'm back, and while I was eating I asked Gordon to finish the background for me
and he did a great job
now we cango for the details
once again, I'm sorry for be filming like this
yeah
well, as I've told you, I'm confined to a tiny place
and...
seriously... I have no means of recording and drawing at the same time
look at those little skulls in there
they are laughing at the little girls
poor little girls
and here it is! The first girld in here!
poor little thing, look at her
she's frightened
she knows, the time has come
and her beauty will be consumed! D:
yeah well, here we go again...
I have to be more cheerful!
right, I think I'm going out to get some fresh air
and
when I return it's already night time so I have to turn on the lights but at least...
I think... I will come up with something more cheerful *giggles*
I am back!
and in the process I did this girl
oh!
gods... *giggles*
that was unintentional
I...
"did" this girl"
here... lets not go pervert over this...
and
well... lets continue the work!
as you can see, darkness is coming
and... in here
consuming the girl
and there is a darkness... a hand of darkness in here
alright, lets go for these skeletons over here
and, while I do it, I'm going to listen to some music
so... be right back
and this little couple of skeletons is done!
look at them dancing! So happy!
who said that happiness can only be found in life?!
look at them
so happy
while dancing
and he is like:
"wow! Hold on woman!"
"I may be a skeleton but I'm still a man!"
"slow down! You're killing me!"
yeah...
that was a poor joke
lets move on
the only good thing about skeletons is that they are always smiling
they always seem so happy
alright
lets go for the final skeleton
playing a violin
alright friends! The drawing is done!
now
lets see how it really turned out
*hoarse deep voice* alright! What have we learned today?!
absolutely nothing useful
