Being able to engage with
those people and help them create
something and put something out into
the world and build on something that exists, I think, is
a really amazing feeling.
My name is Eric Holscher, and I maintain
Read the Docs, which is a documentation
hosting platform for open-source
projects. I had a few open-source
projects that had docs, but they weren't
getting updated; so the goal was really
to kind of automatically publish
documentation when it got created.
A lot of what we try to do is lower the
barrier for contribution. You're trying
to learn about a project, you're trying
to contribute to that project, and we want to
enable that as much as we can.
Read the Docs was very much a side project, but it
eventually got to the point where if we
went down, thousands of people couldn't
do their jobs, and that's really when
it's like, "Oh! This is something that
should really have dedicated resources,
and it needs someone who's working on
it full time." The way that we've been doing
that is trying to build a business that
both respects our users and doesn't
compromise our integrity but also makes
money; and so that's really been the
mission the last few years. Trying to do
anything that's yours and that you have
so much ownership over and eco invested
in is really difficult, but it's just
like starting a business. Figuring out
sustainability within an open-source
project is ninety-nine percent the same
as figuring out sustainability within a
business. I view places as kind of
discrete chunks of time, and I try to
map tasks onto them, where it's like
I'm going to these phone calls at home,
and then we're going to go into a
co-working space and do these two
tickets, and then I'm gonna go grab
coffee and have a meeting with somebody
and then work from there to like do the
notes. I feel privileged every day to be
able to set my own schedule and to be able
to work on something that I helped bring
into the world. The fact that I'm putting my
day-to-day stress towards something that
might not exist otherwise is an
incredible privilege, and it really does
feel like we're starting to become
sustainable and to actually solve this
problem. It's incredibly hard day-to-day,
but it's incredibly rewarding day-to-day as well.

you and here he is size comparison to
the animatronics Spinosaurus as you can
see the animatronic is a bit bigger
bought for this guy

actually got that long i think for $27

Chelsea & Lawrence MA Sue Over Sanctuary City EO - Duration: 3:54.
Hi, this is Attorney Sidra Vitale, today's date is 8 February 2017.
I am an immigration attorney in private practice in the Boston area.
This video is to talk about new lawsuit brought by the cities of Chelsea and Lawrence, Massachusetts,
against the administration for the threat to withhold federal funding from so-called
'sanctuary jurisdictions'.
One of the things that the complaint points out is that the definition of sanctuary jurisdiction
is really quite vague.
The other is that it refers to willful refusal to comply with a particular statutory provision,
8 USC 1373, which requires that no state or local government can interfere in 'data flow',
basically, about a person's immigration status, between that state or local official and the federal
immigration authorities.
There's no requirement that state or local law enforcement collect information about a person's
immigration status, and both Chelsea and Lawrence have implemented policies in slightly different
ways, they've implemented policies in order to protect their entire populace, and encourage
trust and reliance on their law enforcement officers especially the police department,
they don't collect immigration status information.
That's not, the cities claim, a "willful refusal to comply" with the dictates of 8 USC 1373.
They're not getting in the way of data flow, they're not collecting any data, and that's
not the same thing.
So, one, they're arguing "we could be classified as sanctuary jurisdictions but we're not sure
and that vagueness is a problem," two, they're arguing "we're not sanctuary jurisdictions
because we are in compliance with this statute".
And then, much more importantly, they're arguing that the threat to withhold federal funds
is unconstitutional under the 10th Amendment, which has to do with the, the difference between
federal and state rights and authorities....The 10th Amendment is the thing that gives states
power to do stuff and it's recognized in the Constitution that the states have powers to
do things that are not expressly reserved to the Federal government.
So here we have states making decisions about their law enforcement procedures versus an
order that's directing the federal government to threaten to withhold funds in order to
manipulate those policies and procedures.
And they say that that is an untenable invasion of their power and is therefore a violation
of the 10th Amendment.
So, the 10th Amendment argument, I think, is pretty strong, we'll see what happens with
the case.
I think that, you know, everyone filing complaints about these orders, is, among other things,
horning in on the ignorance that the orders themselves demonstrate about the new Executive's understanding
of the law.
The lack of coordination, the lack of consultation with legal authorities in order how do to
stuff properly...there's a lot of things that the President does have power to do.
Mr. Purcell said during yesterday's argument to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, you
can do something and intend to discriminate, and that makes it wrong, you can do it with
