I'm Sharah Haque. I'm a registered nurse, and I care for critically ill patients in the ICU.
I became a nurse in 2013 and have been working at the bedside ever since.
Ryerson has played a major role in my career trajectory
because it was here where I first
discovered my dreams and saw nurising, not
just as a job, but as a profession.
Though nurses are seen working at the bedside,
many roles have emerged in policy,
research, education and leadership.
If we look at the overall health in our
societies, it is apparent that some
communities experience poorer health
outcomes than others. Nurses are pivotal
in bridging these gaps to make healthcare
more accessible, equitable and inclusive.
Ryerson promotes these values,
and that has helped foster them in me.
Ryerson is preparing me to be a nurse
leader in promoting social change while
also advancing my profession.
This is inspiring, exciting.
It's what I want to do.
