Waching daily Feb 3 2017

So last night the greenhouse didn't just collapse it it blew away.

It was really windy.

It's been catching a lot of wind at the side of the building.

Fortunately it happened, it was about half past nine

so me and Trevor were both in we heard a mighty crash and came out and the greenhouse was

like blown over here and there's like a communal parking area so luckily we were able to grab

it before it went into where the cars are.

I had reglazed it a lot with the poly carbonate but the, recently a lot of those had popped

out so they weren't actually in and most of the glass was roof so I think the wind had

gotten in underneath.

I'm really annoyed that I left the glass in the roof, I thought it would help anchor it

down but the reason I put the polycarbonate in was the smashed glass last year getting

everywhere.

So, so there's not really any overhead lighting out here.

So Trevor had his camping torch on and we went over the car park area because

there was lots of shards of glass.

I don't think that I will re umm put another greenhouse up because there's just not any,

any space for it to go.

And this is the spot where it was, I think it might make a nice flower bed

or you know the grass has already been trying to reclaim it.

There's some glass that we didn't get last night but this is kind of out of the way,

but we're just having a go at this now.

Again, that's why I'm so annoyed because we're just dealing with the broken glass area.

Anyway, my plan now is to just get it in the skip and uhh I think it's had it, hasn't it

really.

It's not done very well from the very beginning and you can see how bent up the frame is.

I don't think a bot of gorilla tape and wood is going to help it now.

I'm just about ready to get my seeds in as well so that's kind of annoying, I'm going

to get as much as I can, well it's probably a few weeks but it's the potato day tomorrow.

There is one at Montford Bridge by Shropshire Organic Gardeners and if you're local there

is also one at Harper Adams on Sunday which I did a video for last year.

So I'll link those both below I was going to get my seeds and things from

there and then look at putting them in but really I've got a few weeks yet to do that.

I think I can start stuff on the windowsill and may be get a cold frame outside rather

than having a big structure.

There just isn't really room for it like this area where the greenhouse is now is actually

the car park and the bit of the garden that we're using it's not actually ours it belongs

to the guy upstairs, so I, there isn't anywhere I can put something in and it's just too blowy

around the side to put the greenhouse back there so I'm not going to do that but

I don't know, it's going to be the tomatoes that I think, I dis well with tomatoes outside

last year but I loved just having the greenhouse just full of all of those varieties of tomatoes

and I've saved quite a lot of seed but maybe, maybe I'll be able to get them outside but

I don't know.

We'll see.

[sigh] it's annoying, it's very annoying but it could have been a lot worse, it's so fortunate

the time it happened that we were both in and the neighbour across the way came in and

just helped us drag the frame back up here out of the way.

So it's not the end of the world but it is a big irritation.

I will see you again on Wednesday with another allotment video which I will have some filming

from the potato day for you, to show you and hopefully on a more positive note.

Thanks for watching guys, bye bye.

Is Music Not As Good As It Used To Be? - Duration: 4:28.

Man...

Music is just not as good as it used to be

Or is it?

I truly believe it is

and not only that, I think music nowadays might be even better than before

Now, I know music taste is as subjective as it can be

but for the sake of this video im going to focus on only one genre

Rock

since it's my favorite and it has evolved enough in the past couple of decades

that I find it to be a perfect example to prove my point

Rock music has been changing constantly

new bands take inspirations from the ones that came before and learning from them

so musicians of this day and age have access to so much information

that it's not surprising that they can develop talent and skills far beyond of what was considered possible decades ago.

and on top of that rock music has been mixing with so many different genres and styles that it has created a plethora of sub genres

It has so many subgenres that you can find your particular niche no matter what it is

Sentimental?

Violent?

Technical prowess?

Epic fantasy themed adventure music?

Yeah, there's a subgenre of rock for that.

Now

when you think of rock music of the past you think of classics like The Beatles, Pink Floyd or Queen.

And that's the thing, they are classics

and a classic by definition: is an outstanding example of a particular style; something with a timeless quality.

So they weren't just great bands, they were the greatest of their time and that's why you know about them.

That phenomenon is called Survivor Bias

Survivor bias is the logical error of concentrating on the people or things that "survived" some process

and inadvertently overlooking those that did not because of their lack of visibility.

In other words, the fact that they were so good was what made them stand out over all other examples of their time.

That's why when you think of rock from the nineties, you think of Nirvana

and not Moist

Now that we know we are taking the greatest bands from the past

we can't justly compare them with your everyday garage band

or the newest pop sensation that is going to fade away in just a couple of years.

No, we need to compare them with the greatest of our present time

but who are those?

Well… we can't exactly know at the moment for certain

we need time to judge if a band is just a one hit wonder, or if they can keep on putting great music for years to come

But what we should do is try to get out of our comfort zone in terms of music

don't just listen to the radio or that same old playlist you made 3 years ago

try listening to up and coming bands, or bands that you never heard of

or even music from countries you wouldn't expect

That way we have a better chance of identifying who will be the next legendary band

I know it's not that easy to find them

but services like Spotify and Pandora have great features for discovering new bands

But in my experience the best places to find new music are subreddits like:

/r/Music/, /r/WorldMusic/ and /r/listentothis/

Not only did I discover gems that I would never find otherwise like Manganas Garden

but there's also great discussions and recommendations about music in general

Now I would like you to give me a band or song recommendation

it doesn't have to be your favorite, just a song or a band you would want me to listen to, and tell me why

From my part, I would like to recommend you Protest The Hero

it's a really good band with extremely talented members

the vocals are top notch, the guitars are insane and the whole band is just amazing

Listen to "Blindfolds Aside", it might not be their best song, but its my favorite from them.

Remember to like and subscribe

And if you would like to know how I learned to enjoy other music genres apart from rock, watch this video

As U S Remains Divided on Islam, These Jews and Muslims Are Coming Together - Duration: 9:39.

As U.S. Remains Divided on Islam, These Jews and Muslims Are Coming Together.

As the United States and the world draw lines in the sand over Trumps new immigration

policies, Muslims, Jews, and people from all walks of life are banding together for peace

both for themselves and the planet.

The EcoMe Center, currently located at the junction of Jericho and Almog, was founded

in December of 2010 by a group of Israeli friends who attended the Arava Institute for

Environmental Studies, a program that includes Israelis, Palestinians, Jordanians, and other

international students.

Though the founders are Israeli, they wanted to establish an ecovillage run by both

Israelis and Palestinians.

The ongoing divide between Palestinians and Israelis is one of the longest-running conflicts

in the world and continues to inspire vitriol and protest from both sides, with many around

the world criticizing Israel for illegally confiscating and occupying the land of Palestinians.

Indeed, the relationship is lopsided, with Israeli Defense Forces controlling Palestinians

and often committing staggering human rights violations.

Amid this seemingly insurmountable conflict, the group of friends established EcoMe in

the hopes of healing these historical and current divisions.

According to Arnon Shomer, a spokesman for EcoMe:

Some of these people never met a person from the other side not through military

engagement (Israelis as soldiers and Palestinians meet them as soldiers). This creates a very

deep impact on everyone who comes to these workshops.

For me, the first people that I could call Palestinian friends, I met through the center,

and this is one of the only places where we can meet each other on the human level, and

not as political entities.

Seeking to alter this paradigm while also helping the earth, the founders began by contacting

local people and leaders and creating events of music [and] gathering. They started

to build permaculture structures in the place from local materials.

EcoMe has successfully created an environmentally-conscious, sustainable community.

Shomer says EcoMe has compost toilets and a water reuse system (there is no sewage system

at the facility).

They construct buildings from local materials, such as palms and garbage tires, plastics

of greenhouses and anything we can find. The center practices recycling and has a seasonal

garden where attendees grow vegetables, which are used in EcoMes vegetarian communal

kitchen.

They also have a free range chicken house, projects to help sustain beehives, and permaculture

workshops that teach biodynamic beekeeping, recycled art, and permaculture gardening.

Sign up for the free Anti-Media newsletter the establishment doesn't want you to receive

These efforts are all maintained by visitors to the center, who are primarily Israeli and

Palestinian but come from around the world.

Though most international visitors come from Europe and North America, Shomer says they

have had guests from countries like Japan, Brazil, Iran, Jordan, Kenya, and Colombia.

As he explains, the ones holding the space for the workshops are living in it as a community

and do a lot of community work and sharing. And thats what makes EcoMe especially unique.

In addition to working with the land and environment, the center places a strong emphasis on healing

relations between Palestinians and Israelis who visit the center.

Rather than accepting those tensions, EcoMe seeks to help them interact with each other

in a peaceful way to foster friendship, understanding, and tolerance.

One of the key methods they employ in this effort is the practice of nonviolent communication

(NVC).

NVC was developed by Marshall Rosenberg, an American psychologist, and is rooted in finding

common ground and empathy.

According to NVCs website: Through the practice of NVC, we can learn

to clarify what we are observing, what emotions we are feeling, what values we want to live

by, and what we want to ask of ourselves and others.

We will no longer need to use the language of blame, judgment or domination.

We can experience the deep pleasure of contributing to each others well-being.

The communication method is rooted in listening and compassion, allowing those with grievances

to express their frustrations without overtly blaming or lashing out at the other person

but still requesting acknowledgment and action to resolve the conflict at hand.

NVC has been used for everything from marriage counseling to resolving political conflicts.

In fact, in his book on the method, Rosenberg recalled his experience mediating between

an Israeli and Palestinian, who were eventually able to find common ground despite their seemingly

diametrically opposed views.

Rosenberg also worked with individuals who are now members of EcoMe.

As one Palestinian woman, Amal Hedwah, has said of Rosenberg and her experience with

him: It was an asset for me.

He made a shock in my mind and in my soul and in my body and now I am a new person.

EcoMe holds an annual NVC workshop that lasts between ten and twelve days and invites Palestinians,

Israelis, and other international visitors a chance to communicate with each other.

This creates a wide community of people who are now friends, and sometime partners,

and committed to continue [working] for peace, Shomer says.

According to one attendee at the center: I know many of us are working on the peace

process as a political process, but for me, its looking beyond the political process.

How can we engage in peace work as people who live in this land, coming from different

identities, different cultures, different religions, but understanding that within all

of these identities there are people who want peace, and within these ideas there are people

who dont want peacefor me, it is about the right peoplebeing here who want to

work for peace and how we can work together. One of the best examples of this was the groups

recent efforts to help Palestinians clean up the remains of a tent they were living

in that had been ravaged by the Israeli military for the third time in a year.

EcoMe does not seek to avoid or gloss over the historical division between Israelis and

Palestinians or Israels own role in it.

Shomer describes the normalization of occupation:

It is a negative aspect of our work since, for Palestinians, meeting Israelis

without dealing in ending the occupation is normalizing the situation of privileged citizens

and underprivileged occupied people who have no rights.

Noting the challenges of running a center that brings Israelis and Palestinians together,

he continued: To acknowledge this is a very basic need

for the Palestinian people, and many Israelis do not see it this way, and so, when meeting

with each other on the human level, but neglecting the political issue, [it] creates normalization

of the situation. The center is currently located on a Jewish

settlers land, a region EcoMe chose because, as Shomer explains, it is the occupied

territories, and we are here because we want to be accessible for Palestinians who can

not come to Israel because of the separation. Nevertheless, he says their location has drawn

concerns that the center itself engages in normalization.

This is why we decided to have a meeting about this issue with our Palestinian friends,

and the main conclusion was that we need to find another place for the center that is

not on settlement land, he said, adding they are currently searching for a new location

to resolve the issue.

As they work to solve this fundamental problem, however, they offer a variety of classes and

methods to help those who attend find peace.

In addition to NVC, EcoMe offers art workshops and yoga and meditation classes.

Both practices are increasingly shown to promote well-being and reduce stress.

The center also offers language classes, teaching Arabic, Hebrew, and English, as language is

one of the barriers for understanding each other.

Though the world currently appears to be in upheaval and citizens of the world seem increasingly

polarized, EcoMe is effectively working to alter this trend one person at a time driven

and sustained by individuals who are truly becoming the change they wish to see in the

world.

Mystery Music Ep. 3 - Duration: 5:03.

Welcome to mystery music, the series that introduces you to three new musical styles,

musical cultures, and musical people from around the world.

As you watch, don't forget to play along in the comments, try to guess what you're listening

to, before the big reveal at the end.

Let's go!

This is a song that, in its different variations, has earned over 55 million dollars since its

release in 1939, and yet the composer and lead singer of the song, Solomon Linda, received

only 2 dollars for his work and spent the last years of his life in poverty and poor

health.

This is mbube, which means lion in Zulu, and it's sparked a whole new genre in South

Africa.

Solomon Linda wrote the piece based on an experience he had chasing lions away from

the livestock when he was a boy.

He recorded it with his group the Evening Birds and sold it a short time later to South

African Gallo Records for 10 shillings.

It became hugely popular selling over 100,000 copies.

Ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax, a name you've heard on this channel before, heard the song

during his travels and shared it with a friend of his, Pete Seeger of the Weavers.

The Weavers adapted it into a slightly different version called "Wimoweh", which was a

misunderstanding of the original lyric uyimbube, which means 'the fierce'.

Seeger thought it was simply a folk song, and so no credit, or royalties were given

to Solomon Linda at the time.

Though, to his credit, when he found out the truth, Seager made sure a portion of the sales

went to Linda's widow.

In 1961, a doo-wop group called the Tokens, recorded a new version of the song for RCA.

This version included lyrics and became the song we now know as "The Lion Sleeps tonight".

In total dozens of groups of recorded and rerecorded versions of this song over the

years.

X Alfonso, is a Cuban afro-rock musician that represents a new wave in Cuban music.

Cuban music has long been known for its unique styles, and especially the amazing way that

it blends the music of different cultures together so beautifully, X Alfonzo is no exception.

He was born into a musical family and has been working with all kinds of music for his

entire life.

He studied classical piano, performed in his parents' group Sintesis (which was a group

that mixed symphonic rock and Afro-Cuban music), and spent time in various jazz groups.

He describes his style as an exploration of Cuban roots music and Cuban folklore.

And really successfully mixed jazz, hip hop, big band, orchestral music, flamenco, funk…

all of these with really traditional Cuban musical idioms.

This song is Habana Blues and is a wonderful mix of blues, classic rock, and afro-cuban

style.

This is probably the best-known Polka of all time: Beer Barrel Polka.

Polka developed in 18th century Bohemia and quickly spread all over the world.

At its roots, it's a Czech folk dance, one that went on to become popular amongst the

European elite and from there became incorporated into all kinds of musical traditions.

Beer Barrel Polka was written by Jaromír Vejvoda in 1927, but really became famous

during WWII, when Will Glahe recorded it in 1939.

It spread all around Europe and America, the lyrics changing to fit whatever local place

it was being sung in.

In popular culture, it became a signature song of pianist and performer Liberace, it's

played during nearly every Wisconsin sporting event, and has been featured on many television

and live show productions.

Charly Black "Gyal You A Party Animal" Official Lyrics & Meaning | Verified - Duration: 4:46.

Dancehall is movement, activity. You perspire a lot.

If you go to Jamaica, you enjoy it and have a better explanation of it.

When I was writing the song, I was vibing with a girl from Germany,

she's the main girl in the video...in the "Party Animal" video.

She is a real party animal. She's a girl that can go all night without drinking

and still give you that vibe that she's intoxicated.

I was also motivated by the Jamaican females, the dancehall queens

and all the rest of the girls in Jamaica

who use their bumper, which is their big bottom, bounce it up and down. Understand?

So when I say "flip it like a Flipagram," it's like when you're putting a thing on Instagram

and you get different pictures.

And then you put music behind it, when you have the picture, it flip from one to the next.

So that's what I was saying, Flipagram, telling them to flip their bumper like a Flipagram.

When you tell a girl to wine and they get closer to you and give you that wine,

it makes your third leg rose out of your pants.

A wine is not a wine from Italy or something that is made of fruits.

Our wine is a female gets up close to a male and wine cause that's what dancehall is.

Bubblin is not when you're wining.

Bubblin fits a big, thick girl better than a slim girl. Cause when you see a thick girl bubblin,

you see the hips, you see the ass, you see everything moving

and it's coordinated to the beat of the dancehall beat.

When you pour champagne in a glass, it bubbles. That's what a girl do.

"She start to broke out broke out like a sore," it's like getting a cut on your foot

and it just starts getting worse instead of getting better, even when you try to treat it.

Some females would lick their lips. Some females would stick their tongue out.

Some females give eye contact. Some females would come up and squeeze my butt.

Some females do what they do to show you the signs. They say, "Hey, tonight is your chance."

Even if you don't' know that person, it will give you that vibe.

Dancing with a nice girl and she does…. I mean imagine the things happen after the party.

It's a lot so it gets very emotional.

You probably want to make out right there. Maybe if the girl has on a nice dress, you have sex, I don't know.

My friends are team players so they're going to enjoy themselves either way.

After the club, we're going to our spot, where we chill.

She's coming with us. So if we're going to a pool party or we're going to an after party or whatever,

shoot a video or whatever and she's ok to come or she and her friend are ok to come, we going to go.
