Waching daily Feb 4 2017

hello everybody my name is InspirAspir

and welcome back to part 5 of my launch

pad cover tutorial series in this video

we'll go over how to multi sample which

is assigning multiple sounds and samples

to a single button and we'll also go

over what exactly this random midi

effect does, now I don't imagine this

will take too much time

so let's go ahead and jump right into

it and get it done. To start, let's

pretend we want to we want to assign

multiple sounds to a single button so

maybe this button on the launchpad

and I'm going to be in page one and I

want this button so to do that it's

actually a lot easier than you would

think i would first go to my page one

and then i would go to the button that I

want. So I'm on page one, I'm pressing the

button that I want, and you can see down

here is that this button is lighting up.

Meaning this is the corresponding button

so i want to assign my samples to so now

i'm going to go to the top left of

Ableton, and click under instruments

and then drag in a new instrument

rack into that sample button but I chose

what this does is it creates an entire

rack of potential samples that we can

drop in that can be assigned to just

this button so let's go to my stem that

I covered in Part 2 and let's find some

sounds I want to have time to that

button so i have this layer of base

let's say for example of our players you

might not be able to hear much but I

promise that sounds coming through i can

hear it right now in my headphones

let's say that I want this sound

to play on this button so it's kind of

like I would any other sound let's say I

also want i don't know for example this

sound to play at the same time all I

would do is cut that up just like I

would for any other samples

maybe I also want to have this sound

this cymbal crash maybe I want that to

play at the same time again I would

split up just like any other sample now

if that's all that I want then I'm gonna

go back to my sample to go back to my

sample tracks and all i'm going to do is

drag in the samples into the instrument

rack i created before and then one thing

I recommend doing is clicking this

button to expand your instrument or

accuracy what samples you have included

and all i'm going to do is drag in all

of the samples now if I play this button

they all play which is nice so now

that's one really easy basic way to get

a bunch of sounds on one button but now

i'm gonna go over what's called multi

sampling which is where you can play

multiple sounds on a single button but

each time you press it a different

sample occurs so let's say I want to do

that on this button i'm actually gonna

use the same exact concept i'm going to

drag in my instrument rack onto the

given button i'm going to expand the

instrument rack and I'm just gonna

dragging whatever samples that I want

let's use these lead samples that i cut

up in part to just for the sake of

demonstration and i'm going to drag

these into my instrument rack right now

if I were to press this button i have a

feeling that sounds very bad because all

my samples are playing at the same time

which I don't want so to fix this i'm

gonna go over to my midi effects and put

in a random midi effect in front of my

instrument rack so I just click and drag

until a blue bar with the left of the

instrument rack and so what this random

many effect is going to let us do it's

going to allow us to cycle through all

of these samples so I'm going to up this

chance to a hundred percent i just

clicked and dragged up and then we want

the number of choices to be however my

samples we have

it looks like we have 16 samples i'm

going to change this number 26 auditors

click and type in the number and then

i'm going to change this mode to alt all

i did was i click that button once and

that will allow us to step through these

one at a time in order next I'm going to

click on my first sample and then click

Ally note and then double click this

green bar that quote unquote a science

this first example to the first touch of

the button then i'm going to press this

button again and you'll notice that

there's red bar moved one semitone to

the right of the green bar the way just

drawn in and that's because this random

the random devices doing its work so

while holding this going to double-click

the second sample and that assignment to

the second touch of the button then i'm

going to press it again notice the red

bar moved and i'm going to double-click

this third samples green bar and then

assigns it to the third touch the button

you can tell it's working when you can

see these green bars they're sort of

slanting down that means that you're

being assigned one after each other now

for us again and repeat the process all

the way down then what happens is each

time i press this button a different

sound will occur now one problem it's

already happening

one thing that just happened that you

might have noticed as these have become

out-of-tune whether pitches on all wonky

because moving these green bars

technically is moving its semitone up by

one think of this first sample as the

base and then every subsequent sample

after that is being moved up one

semitone into the pitch is being shifted

which we don't want in order to maintain

that sound all we do is go to each

sample after the first starting with the

second one

all we do is dragging a pitch mini

effect

onto that sample and we do that for all

of these i'm gonna go ahead and drag a

pitch on to each of these alright so I

just dragged a pitch many effect on to

every sample except for the first the

first doesn't need to be adjusted but

then we need to do is adjust to

counteract the semi tones and in order

to do that you just adjust the pitch of

your second sample down one semitone and

then for your third sample you just

knock that down two semitones and your

for three down three semitones and so on

so I just adjusted all of my sample

starting with my second each subsequent

sample you knocked down one more

semitone and that balancing each other

out so now if i press this button every

time i press this button a different

sound occurs and every sample is in tune

and in theory they don't have to all be

for example I use my lead kind of

violence since as an example you don't

have to make them all that I could have

thrown in

maybe as an example i can throw in a

picture on to replace my third button

press or something like that so right

now for the present one time to find the

third time are kicking sound and then

move on

so what I'm getting at here is you can

press a button multiple tired within any

given page impressive multiple styles

and have different sounds occur each

time and you can actually the same

concept for your lights midi track to

using this random effect if you go to

any light effect let's say I want to go

to page three and press I don't know

this button

ok I got a page three and my mini lights

effect i create a new chain i press this

button double click the green bar so not

only sign of these buttons if i were to

put in another midi effect racks on just

that button and then put a random device

in front of it then I can cycle through

multiple light effects for every time i

press this button if that makes any

sense

I'm gonna expand this manufacturer just

so i can see it up this chance two

hundred percent i'm gonna say i don't

know three different light effects just

for demonstration purposes you can go up

to 24 it looks like

the changes made to alternate and then

i'm going to create three new chains so

i press this button will put this cream

bar need to make two more and then I

just move each 11 after each other for

making a a diagonal line with the green

bars so now it doesn't look like much

but technically you can i press this

button into effect happens as you can

see so then within each of these chains

i could then make whatever I want maybe

like a mean my first effect could just

be a simple vertical bar maybe my second

effect could be of a pulsating effect

like this new my third effects can be a

different color just like that hopefully

get the concept of it basically for

either your samples or your lights if

you throw in an entire either instrument

lack for many effect racks respectively

and then if you put a random many

devices in front of it with an alternate

alternative modes with your number of

choices and you can cycle through any

number of effects or samples just like

here with my life I can have a pulsating

fact i press the same button never a

different color vertical bar that sort

of thing and this is all within one page

of course you can then do it in

different pages to so remember like this

is my samples on page 12 pressing the

same button i'm not changing pages and

we can actually pretty pretty versatile

can help you make some unique covers if

you want to have all of your drop sample

is located on one page

what you want to save some space and use

multiple buttons to have friends down

this is very useful so hopefully that

helps you out hopefully understood what

I was talking about not too complicated

once you get the hang of it it's pretty

much the same concept over and over and

over again so I think that'll do it

in fact i think that might wrap up this

tutorial series it's sort of tentative i

might be one more video I might not

we'll see for now this might be the end

but anyways thanks for watching I really

appreciate it you know i do and I will see you

all in the next video

【Minecraft】マイクラの全ブロックでピラミッド Part64【ゆっくり実況】 - Duration: 10:20.

Hello, this is Teryi.

Good evening, it is slowly.

Thank you for your viewing.

Thanks dear.

Now in Jiendo, but had climbed to the tower of obsidian is the first attempt, it seems never Nante unexpectedly.

I mean Are want extrusion to Ender Man.

Since the likely impatience When you come warped here in Ender man truly, we pay close attention so that you do not match the line of sight.

What you say that there is no thing, in very much the pyramid building, it might be because high altitude of the sense of fear is paralyzed.

Well the last time, or resurrected a black shadow, only the outer frame of the map of the pyramid maximum extension was may not be displayed.

In, jumped over the abyss of is responsible for, such as beacon is safely success, but until it was up to the mining rate.

It did become a thing was not to that fool's errand to the first one of the fortress.

What you will do?

Anyway, the remaining of Ender Crystal is where you find two places, I think let's close little by little.

In, but I just had to recover, such as beacon, one of the four types of ore block, only gold block is I'm a little soft.

Only I slightly mining early gold certainly.

In the Edo era Speaking of money, but I have heard the story say that real or make sure to chew oval, gold block Will tooth Once the bite stick.

Not afraid when I left tooth profile to a block of 1m?

Well, such as during and mining during the movement, when there Abunage has a pumpkin mask.

Anyway the left and right of the field of vision is blocked, even looked up normally under, it is really inconvenient just the center of the field of vision is blocked.

Ni also will fight sufficiently Ender Man took off pumpkin Now if equipped.

When mining is, anyone not to be disturbed, I Without useless been saved free, or say what.

In, again at the side of the small obsidian, when you are re-assembling a beacon pyramid, I think I'm hell is Oideoide.

Hand-held double-digit Ender Pearl also, I'm raring whether it will be such a thing.

It he was awaited invited, but it should be once invited.

While honest very extremely slight, of making the use of Ender Pearl, will be attracted to the temptation.

Well, the second time level 4 beacon start. Aim is closest approach to the Ender Crystal of this tiny tower, and the tower of the whole collection.

I 3 × 3. The height I wonder what stage.

There were 12 stages Once you account while climbing. Obsidian is about 100 total.

In, will be able to climb in about 1 minute, it came into view Uo. There is something like a rock half-block.

Or rather, like a kind of bedrock is put into obsidian.

It seems decent block 's name is.

This, I think is what disappear Once you destroy the crystal.

Uo finally close to here. This is the first time we saw in this up close.

I mean, but I was thin purple. I did not know even when viewed from a distance.

In, and have observed up close, lilac cube in and two of the outer frame has been rotated in different directions, respectively.

Just looking at, I feel likely go three cup rice.

It Is a favorite saying like this is.

If possible, it brought back in I want to put on the top of the pyramid under construction.

Well that explode Once you mess around do not go because you know. When later examined in the wiki, the power of the explosion seems the same as the charging Creeper.

Now whole recovered the tower on schedule.

Beacon set was also end recovered. Check or have all the prima facie number of blocks just in case. Safely it seems to be 164.

In, it feels good to have floated Ender Crystal to split and surreal.

It did did not eventually explode.

Because it is a limited number of scarce goods.

Now, if after one dismantling a small tower, is likely to gather the number of moderate obsidian.

In this something quick mental calculation, 24 in the lowest layer of the four rows. In the double plus 9, height ThatLookLikeThis multiply, I think it feels good.

Make mental arithmetic to the end.

We checked in after fully mined had been 500 over.

In, the third time Level 4 beacon start. Diamond will continue decreasing bit by bit.

Are not you Mottainaku using diamond to really?

Rather, it soon, come to feel resistance to be started in other than diamond.

And, this tower had response indeed. It is finally dismantling completion in the work of about 20 minutes.

I as pleased apparently.

Until just now, and Endora subdue without one also destroy the Ender Crystal, but the only obsidian I had begun to draw a dream to dismantle all.

It was returned to us thanks. After all, obsidian recovery is very.

Well, day-to-day long battle with obsidian is the end finally, go to the little by little impression of the cut ending.

I cut's the premise still.

Since anyway English of that level it is not read.

Mean that, I came back to the pyramid base. Compared with the game startup, the display of the world is crispy.

In, eventually obsidian was remaining spare enough-to-stack and a half. It will not be used for something.

I hope that re-create the Ender chest dead many times.

And, one of the last of the 17 layers worth of construction materials, and craft a glass of white, ready for the next architectural turn is now complete.

Building material in the 8,320 pieces total, is probably the largest of load at a time.

By the way, when you turn off loading the 17-layer content, pyramid progress will reach 89.95%.

I'll have bad Kiri quite subtly.

Anyway, a game interrupted by a sense of fulfillment that was burned out after a long time.

And, of building turn day we have been doing.

Several tens of seconds of when the game started on this computer, the sound shift of the recording software will occur.

So, although it is often looking at the possible extend the pyramid so that it does not make a footstep, you will want to try looking to the end only to today.

I gonna be, without having to visit the sound shift in the neighborhood of well taken and displayed.

Well it takes to immediately architecture.

The current pyramid is in up to 95 layers, it is scheduled to extend to a stretch 112 layers in this building turn.

100 th layer memorable, it feels to say that just a middle point.

Well, first red sand system the end of the block, from the red sandstone.

Red sandstone that looks under several stages By the way, is a smooth textured red sandstone.

In, in the longer this height, no longer Kakekara only about 3 minutes to building further. Ease a is above all.

Are not you not satisfactory?

Well Then before you get down to obsidian take fresh Hoyahoya, it was one fall asleep.

Suddenly the shadow of the curse that was reflected in the eyes, has become for some reason three. I had been before a little started to grow a four knots.

Evidence that the curse is alive.

Even so, obsidian mined over the only time there is, I think I know just 3 minutes when the load. Disappointing thing.

Fuooo was closed.

What you're doing.

Because now not only just a few have brought the obsidian, this must come to take the fall when the base reserve of spills.

It would not or could be recovered if slightly Noridase.

Where you want embarked another half step.

Oh oh wow.

Ni there will place back in the Pearl in the air catch.

Such the absolute impossible. I, was alive Uo.

Scattered.

Now and then a three-piece set of red purple, First are loading the wool.

Then the preparation under the glass, was completed torches installed in about 10 minutes. By the way, it is less damage to the left hand little finger.

It did you finally are also trained.

Maybe that is the thanks that lined the secret passage to the village. Given that I do item recovery also fell, tension of finger becomes lighter.

And where the back and forth to take the next building material.

Parent, a state of the shadow of the curse.

It as evolution apparently.

But But what it has evolved in unison what timing.

In, without incident is completed until the 99 th layer.

And finally, where with a red purple color clay has become 100 th layer should be commemorated, this time will be up here because there is a good Kiri.

It'll reached unsatisfying three digits.

Next time in the subsequent construction turn, I think to the point where probably as possible stacking up to 112 layers.

In we work hard the next time.

see you next time. Buying and selling.

The Four Types Of Spirit Guides, According To A Psychic Medium - Duration: 9:22.

The Four Types Of Spirit Guides, According To A Psychic Medium.

by Dr. Kelly Neff,

I spent the majority of my life as a woman of science, trained that I must see to

believe as in, observe some kind of empirical evidence of all phenomena I choose to have

faith in.

Naturally, I had no faith in the afterlife or any life beyond my current physical body,

unable to observe it or to find even a shred of proof.

All of this changed four years ago, when I received a reading from one of Americas

most talented psychic mediums, Bill Philipps.

With no information about me, he was able to bring back clear, specific messages about

deceased relatives, loved ones, and even old friends of family members who I had never

met and never known existed.

There was simply no way he could know this information, not even with Google.

I was stunned.

And shocked!

It was the first time in my life I had witness a proof of something more, something

greater, and it resonated deeply within me as truth.

It was an experience that blew me wide open to the potential that there might be so much

more to this journey than meets the eye.

For the first time in my life, the skeptic in me came face to face with a challenging

question Could psychic mediums and spirit guides actually be REAL?

To address this question and so much more, I invited Bill on Lucid Planet Radio to discuss

what it means to be a psychic medium, how he developed his skills, how he does his work

and the types of messages that typically come through from spirit.

You can listen to the whole interview here and read so much more in Bills new book,

Expect the Unexpected.

Bill explains that many of us are psychic: In fact, our psychic senses such as our intuitions

and gut feelings are a birthright that we bring into this life.

Many of us can tune into the energies of people, objects, or situations that have already happened,

or develop a sense of the future (although the future is never set in stone because we

always have free will!)

According to Bill, the key to turning on your own psychic senses is to TUNE OUT the outside

world and begin to notice the subtle feelings and sensations deep inside that you might

not have noticed were there.

The power of prayer and meditation to still the mind can be hugely influential for connecting

with your innate psychic abilities and calling high vibrational spirit guides into your space.

What is a Psychic Medium?

What distinguishes someone as a psychic MEDIUM is the the way that they are able to connect

directly with spirit to bring through specific information.

Bill describes himself as channel for information to come through from the other side.

This is not an exact science, but it is more like a radio receiver that receives subtle

impressions from spirit which he then trusts and transmits to those who have come to see

him.

He explains that information is always coming through, but he is able to ignore it to a

certain extent except when people ask him for help (he equates it to tuning our someones

nagging).

He doesnt see dead people like in the sixth sense, but rather, he can tune in

to their voices speaking to him (this type of mediumship skill is typically described

as clairaudience).

Bill discovered his gifts early in life, when his mother began communicating with him after

her untimely death when he was 15.

While he remained in the closet with his gift for a long time, thinking he was

crazy or that it wasnt real, he eventually learned to embrace his truth and accept that

channeling messages of healing from the other side is indeed his calling.

You can learn so much more about Bills incredible journey by listening to this podcast,

and reading his wonderful new book, Expect the Unexpected, out now.

The Four Main Types of Spirit Guides

According to Bill, there are four main types of spirit guides that he communicates with

on the other side, who are here to help guide and protect the living

Deceased Loved Ones: Bill communicates most frequently with deceased loved ones, such

as family members and friends who knew the person during life.

Often, these individuals are part of larger soul groups that incarnate together

and then watch over each other from other side for 2-3 generations until it is time

to incarnate again, each time in different roles, to help teach new lessons that help

each others highest soul growth.

Spirits Sent To Help: These spirit guides are not necessarily people we have known in

life, but rather, could be guides from past lives or other spirits who have been sent

to protect us.

For example, someone in your soul group who passed before you were born could still

be watching over you as a guide.

Ascended Masters: These are people who lived highly evolved spiritual lives in the physical

realm (such as Jesus, Buddha, Ghandi, etc) who continue their journey in spirit to help

the living.

Their vibration is energetically higher than the previous two groups, and the ascended

masters are thought to guide many people.

Angels: According to Bill, the highest vibrational guides of all are the angels, who have never

inhabited a physical body before.

They are might of pure light, pure energy and pure love.

At any point, each of us may have a combination of these spirit guides watching over us and

protecting us.

All we have to do is ask for their help, and to look for the signs of their presence, which

can manifest in so many different ways: Dreams, songs on the radio, the numbers on the clock

(like 11:11), ringing phones, feelings of warmth, as well as actual visions or voices.

Prayer, which means your individual connection to the divine source, is an excellent way

to communicate with your guides.

Bill just reminds us to always Expect the Unexpected in how your prayers might be answered.

Bill also explains that YES, darker/denser spirits do exist, but he firmly and verbally

does not allow those vibrations to enter his space.

He chooses to focus on the healing messages and higher vibrational energies.

Whatever our vibration, we will attract more that, and so we all absolutely have the power

and ability to protect our spiritual space by maintaining a high vibration through mediation

and prayer.

We do not need to be afraid of dark or dense spiritual energies, we simply must affirm

our boundaries that they are not permitted in our space.

Messages of Hope From the Other Side

I asked Bill about the most common messages he receives from spirit when he does readings

for people.

Overwhelmingly, our spirit guides are here to show us that we DO live on after we die,

and that they are here to protect us and to show us love.

They want us to know that they are still with us, and that they are alright.

It can be a truly profound and life-changing experience to connect with these messages

from your guides.

Often, the living need some kind of proof to accept this message, and so spirit guides

typically provide very specific examples that only that person would recognize so that there

can be a sense of validation and reassurance that yes, this is REAL.

This was certainly the case in my reading.

The other main message from the other side revolves around leaving everything physical

behind, including money, power or fame.

There is NO MONEY on the other side.

There is also no time on the other side, and there are no celebrities or wealthy people.

We are all one, and everyone is EQUAL.

Given how easy it is to lose sight of this in our world, this is an incredibly powerful

message.

The expression, you cant take it with you really hits home here.

While we might need money to survive in this world, LOVE is truly the universal currency

that matters.

So, are psychic mediums and spirit guides real?

For me, Bill Philipps is absolutely the real deal, and his readings have brought so much

faith and spirituality into my life.

But are they real for you?

You get to decide for yourself.

To hear so much more from Bill Philipps on mediumship and channeling, please listen to

the full podcast, check out his amazing new book, Expect the Unexpected and visit his

website to find an audience reading near you or schedule a private session!

LIGHT AND LOVE!

10 Old Movies Too Disturbing For Mainstream Audiences - Duration: 14:19.

For as long as Hollywood has been around, filmmakers have endeavored to make dreams

come to life.

As far back as a century ago, in film's infancy, attempts at grand spectacle were

already being made, and Hollywood has never stopped trying to improve its capacity to

blow our minds.

But it was also discovered early on that going straight for the fear center was just as effective,

and often cheaper, than giving the audience visions of the fantastic.

So today, we're going over 10 early films that are every bit as unsettling today as they were decades ago-

some that were even deemed too disturbing for mainstream audiences.

Freaks (1932) Tod Browning was already a veteran film director

by the time he scored an enormous success with 1931's Dracula, the Bela Lugosi-starring

classic that helped to define the horror genre.

Due to that film's groundbreaking success, Browning was given pretty much free rein to

create a unique vision for his next project.

He did not fail in that respect; his 1932 film Freaks has been described as inhabiting

a genre all its own, one that no other filmmaker has dared to touch.

It's the story of circus sideshow performers, a trapeze artist and strongman, who conspire

to kill one of their fellow performers for his inheritance.

But the cast was populated with actual freaks- circus performers recruited by the producers,

including conjoined twins, a limbless man known as "The Human Torso", and others

with the types of deformations that audiences had simply never seen.

Test audiences were treated to a horrifying ending in which the scheming pair are attacked

by the freaks during a rainstorm, with the strongman castrated and the trapeze artist

mutilated beyond recognition.

Most of this ending has been lost, as these test audiences were appalled and one woman

even threatened a lawsuit against production company MGM, claiming that the film caused

her to have a miscarriage.

Despite being given a new ending and undergoing other extensive cuts, the film was still considered

extremely controversial upon its release.

It effectively ended Tod Browning's career and was completely banned in the UK for 30 years

The Brain That Wouldn't Die (1959) Shot in 1959, The Brain That Wouldn't Die

didn't see a theatrical release for three years, as distributors were leery of its content.

American International pictures, never a studio to shy away from schlock, released the film

to drive-in theaters in the summer of 1962 to shocked audiences, who got a look at what

might be considered the first gore film.

A mad transplant scientist accidentally decapitates his fiancee, but manages to keep her head

alive in his lab with mad transplant science.

While he searches for a new body for her, she develops a telepathic connection with

a hulking monster that lurks behind a locked door in the lab.

The monster gets free- but the chaos that ensued was not exactly what

1960's audiences were used to seeing.

Its first victim has his arm ripped right the hell off, the stump leaving a bloody smear

on the wall as he collapses.

The second, the mad scientist himself, has a giant chunk bitten out of his neck and spat

onto the floor as the lab burns down, killing everyone in it.

This type of shocking violence, coming near the end of what had been a reasonably conventional

sci-fi movie, disturbed audiences and contributed to the film's reputation as being "a head"

of its time- no pun intended.

Ah! La Barbe! (1906)

Segundo de Chamon has been called the Spanish

George Melies and the most significant Spanish filmmaker of the silent era.

Like Melies, he was a pioneer in camera tricks and editing techniques, and employed both

early and often- to sometimes disturbing effect.

In one of his most famous short films, Ah!

La Barbe!, also known as The Funny Shave, a man is jovially preparing to shave when

he decides to take a taste of his shaving cream.

This apparently leads to some odd hallucinations, as he sees a series of grotesque caricatures

before him in the mirror, each one freakier than the last.

While the film's subject doesn't appear to be particularly alarmed, it's safe to

say this is not anything we'd ever want to see in our bathroom mirror in the morning.

It takes our hero nearly two full minutes to snap out of his shaving cream induced stupor

and react in the appropriate manner.

The Man Who Laughs (1928) The 1928 film The Man Who Laughs was an American

production with a German director famous for working in that country's typical Expressionist style

It is a romance, and a melodrama, and not at all a horror film.

But its main character, Gwynplaine- although he's supposed to be sympathetic- is simply

impossible to look at without hearing a small creaking sound in that part of your brain

where nightmares come from.

The character is disfigured as a child with a horrifying, permanent grin, making him sympathetic

in the way that the Hunchback of Notre Dame or the Phantom of the Opera is supposed to be.

He works as a circus freak, of course, and pines for the love of a blind girl before

receiving a big inheritance and happily sailing away to England.

Really, that's it.

No terrifying turns of plot, no real horror elements to the story at all,

but, just look at Gwynplaine.

Look at him.

Obviously, it's an extremely unsettling character.

It should come as no surprise that the hero of this little-remembered 1920s melodrama

is the obvious inspiration for one of the most towering villains in all of pop culture.

L'Inferno (1911) The long and storied history of Italian cinema

begins with the 1911 film L'Inferno, the very first Italian feature film ever made.

The film raked it in at home and overseas, grossing $2 million in 1911 money in the United

States alone, despite- or maybe because of- the fact that it's really freaking disturbing.

Even today, the film's old-timey qualities tend to enhance the creepy factor rather than

diminishing it.

It's based on Dante's Inferno, and its depictions of hell- with suicides hanging

from trees and demons torturing hopeless souls- were freaky enough to be reused several times

in films as late as 1954.

In fact, censors required that the 33 year-old footage be removed from the 1944 film Go Down, Death

because- among other reasons- of a scene in which a woman's naked breast is briefly

seen, which must also be a cinematic first.

L'Inferno showed very early on that people would pay good money to have the shit scared

out of them, and filmmakers around the world took note.

Maniac (1934) Maniac was directed by Dwain Esper, who was

not so much a film director as he was a smart businessman who knew how to exploit the public's

taste for the strange.

Esper worked outside the traditional Hollywood system, taking his pictures on the road and

advertising them with lurid flyers promising all manner of craziness that was forbidden

by the Hays Code in Hollywood films.

He bought the rights to the aforementioned Freaks, and was also responsible for a lot

of exploitation dreck with titles like Marihuana: Weed With Roots In Hell.

Produced in 1934,

It tells the story of a Vaudeville actor and sex pervert who murders his doctor and assumes

his identity, but the whole film plays as if it were put together by an actual lunatic.

True to its subject matter, it features startling amounts of partial and actual nudity for a

film its age, and features one notoriously gruesome scene where a live cat has its eyeball

popped out, which is thought to be either a very good special effect or the clever use

of a cat with a false eye.

The film serves up plenty of psychoanalyzing and purports to be some kind of cautionary

tale, as if it weren't giving its audience exactly what they came to see.

Haxan (1922) The 1922 Danish film Haxan, subtitled Witchcraft

Through the Ages, is a visual masterwork for its time.

Presented as a documentary, it puts forth the idea that the Salem witches were suffering

from mental illness, but this is neither here nor there; when the film segues away from

its informational portions and into its vignettes, that's when the unadulterated horror takes over.

Director Benjamin Christensen portrays a truly terrifying Satan who lures women from their

beds in the middle of the night; there are also depictions of torture, grave robbing

and full-on nudity, though more of the artistic than gratuitous type.

It was all enough to earn the film a ban in the United States, although it was highly

acclaimed in Denmark and Sweden, and was the most expensive Scandinavian production of that time.

Some of its more disturbing footage would be recycled for later low budget exploitation

productions, such as the aforementioned Maniac.

Meshes of the Afternoon (1943) While she is not exactly a household name,

the experimental films of Maya Deren influenced a legion of Hollywood filmmakers.

She boldly embraced any and all techniques that would serve her vision, and her films

are notable for pioneering techniques like jump cuts, superimposition, multiple exposures

and slow motion.

Perhaps her best known short film, 1943's Meshes of the Afternoon is a masterpiece of

ominous mood and circular narrative whose influence on film in general is plain.

Our heroine, Deren herself, is having a very weird day.

Events seem to keep repeating themselves, things in her home keep moving around, and

then there's the matter of the black-cloaked man with a mirror for a face.

The short's unprecedented use of bizarre camera angles and its droning, percussive

and unnerving soundtrack add to the entire hallucinatory experience.

Deren's intent was to create a visual representation of devastating psychological issues, and it's

safe to say she succeeded.

While few are familiar with this piece, film scholars acknowledge its impact; in 2015,

the BBC cited it as the 40th greatest American film- of any kind- ever made.

Eyes Without a Face (1960) Among horror fans, the 1960 French-Italian

film Eyes Without a Face is legendary.

Released the same year as Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, Eyes Without a Face barely passed

European censors due to its subject matter and received an edited release in the US.

It's the story of a mad doctor who is obsessed with finding his disfigured daughter a new

face, even if the donors are less than willing.

This 1960 film literally shows, with unflinching detail, the surgical removal of a young woman's face--

and that's not even the creepiest part.

The daughter is forced to wear a mask to hide her disfigurement, and its proto-Michael Myers

blankness is absolutely transfixing, and not in a good or comfortable way.

Of course, when we actually do get a look at her under the mask, it is not any better at all.

Despite a lukewarm reception upon release, the film has come to be considered a masterpiece

and its influence on other filmmakers has been substantial.

John Carpenter has acknowledged that Michael Myers' look was inspired by the film,

John Woo largely copied the face transplant sequence for his film Face/Off, and yes- Billy Idol

also cited it as the inspiration for his hit song of the same name.

Un Chien Andalou (1929) Un Chien Andalou was produced by the Spanish

filmmaker Luis Bunuel and famed artist Salvador Dali.

As one might expect from any work in which Dali is involved, it does not make a hell

of a lot of sense.

There is no actual plot; title cards jump from "eight years later" to "around

three in the morning" to "sixteen years ago" with nothing seeming to change very much.

The film is punctuated throughout with odd and disturbing imagery, such as a shot of

a woman prodding at a severed hand with a cane, but it is the film's opening sequence

that earns it its place among the most disturbing things one could ever hope to see.

A man idly fiddles with a razor, contemplating the moon.

Suddenly, there's a woman sitting in a chair.

She stares ahead dispassionately, not even flinching as the man slices open her eyeball,

and the camera lingers as its insides spill out.

There were many theories as to how this effect was achieved, but Bunuel eventually disclosed

that used a dead calf, shaving its skin down to make it appear as human as possible.

Notes between the director and Dali revealed that the film contains "No idea or image

that might lend itself to a rational explanation of any kind", and that "nothing in the

film symbolizes anything".

Fire Emblem Heroes | Chasing the Dark Side of Mobile Gaming - Duration: 8:42.

If I told you Fire Emblem Heroes is bound to be Nintendo's greatest mobile gaming

success, would you believe me?

Because despite what numbers are saying, that's a very possible reality, easily surpassing

the experimental Miitomo and poorly conveyed, albeit fun, Mario Run, and that's because

Fire Emblem Heroes is the very definition of the Japanese mobile market and the games

that have dominated the top 10 spots of Free to Play titles in recent years.

I'm hesitant to put Pokémon GO in that list considering Nintendo's involvement

was little more than a formality and primarily the Pokémon Company's project with Niantic

and while Nintendo makes about 19% of revenue gained, all their personal endeavors have

been with DeNA.

Of course, a single glance at the series and it was clear this was going to be the route

it'd take on mobile no matter what happened, It just so happened to be developed by Intelligent

Systems alongside DeNA, one of Japan's largest developers to focus primarily on gacha implementation,

with their current most popular title, through their subdivision mobage, being Granblue Fantasy.

Which has proven to be popular enough to receive an anime adaptation, merchandise, commanding

large portions of show-floors at events, and an in-development action title developed by

Platinum Games.

With over 14 million players, primarily in Japan since the English version is only available

through desktop, the app's proven profitable enough to outperform and kill its predecessor

Rage of Bahamut, which had nearly double the player base, but less money spent per user.

Granblue isn't pulling in Puzzles & Dragons numbers of $1.5 billion in a year, but it's

still the kind of success Nintendo and investors have been hoping to replicate with their last

two titles.

And it's through that partnership that Heroes finds itself with its current identity as

an always online and gacha driven title.

But what puts Heroes above titles like Bahamut and Granblue is the simplicity and surprising

depth to its restricted gameplay and smaller maps that puts strategy at the forefront and

that tends to be what most Western mobile gamers shift towards and what performs best.

Bahamut and Granblue may require some strategy with your party beforehand, but the actual

gameplay can be summarized as simple tapping to attack whenever possible, but in Heroes,

placement and cooperation is key to success, making it more like Mistwalker's Terra Battle.

There may only be 50 missions for now, but the additional difficulties, challenges, and

a promised influx of new content every 2 weeks is more than enough to keep current players

happy and coming back for more, especially when it can take a month, two, or even more

for more established IPs to receive similar and sometimes smaller updates.

Of course what'll really determine Heroes' success from a financial standpoint is how

well its players take to its paid mechanics.

While gacha's proven successful in Japan, Western players prefer to know what it is

they're buying before they spend their money, so games often take to supplying players with

in-game currency that's used for pulling and restoring points to extend your play time,

something Heroes becomes quite stingy with later on, consuming nearly 15 of your 50 stamina

points just to play a single level, meaning you either wait to recover stamina or pay

to get more, but with gacha it's more like opening a pack of cards.

You only have an idea of what you'll get, but Nintendo is seemingly trying to work against

this in a way that works more in the player's favor by making the orbs used for gacha not

only easy to obtain, as are most of its other consumables, but they also work for upgrading

your base for more experience earned in battles, and lowering the amount needed to draw characters

in longer sessions where the characters pulled have a seemingly increased chance of being

rarer, to the point where in my first 5 draw string I actually got Camilla, who has been

my team's driving force since obtaining her.

She's no Leo, but the special animation that played when getting her exemplified the

feeling of satisfaction Nintendo wants players to have so their money feels well spent and

they keep buying.

Which is good in a highly competitive gacha market where 10% of players account for 90%

of revenue obtained because it makes the deal seem better in comparison to other mobile

titles where you may need to spend up to $800 just to get the character you want through

a mercy pull, where a character is a guaranteed get after you draw a set amount of times.

It takes a lot of consideration in just how much you want players to pay while making

sure they don't overspend and never pay again, or at least for an extended period

of time.

It's not just a consumer care concern, but a legal one too as the more a single player

spends trying to get a single character, the more likely the Japanese government is to

consider it gambling, which they're notoriously strict for.

It was a major issue back when a Granblue player spent over 6000 USD trying to get a

single character who was being promoted as having a doubled pull rate from 3 to 6%, which,

while true, was 0.12% due to the game's other drawable characters.

Despite Nintendo using that same 3% chance for its 5 star characters like Leo, they've

taken certain precautions by limiting younger players money, but with adults, anything is

fair game.

In truth, it's only a matter of time before Heroes comes under controversy due to either

poor developer practice, misleading advertisements.

It's happened to virtually every major app game in Japan, but how big that scandal will

be is largely dependent on the active player base.

It's not exactly a stretch to suggest through Nintendo's name and Fire Emblem's pre-existing

and still growing fanbase, alongside passerby consumers, that Heroes will reach between

10 and 20 Million global users within a year or two, with a high majority of users and

sales being from Japan where the series has a longer history, more appealing design, and

users who will buy characters for the visuals or voice actor alone.

That may be a slower process depending on how strongly Nintendo markets the title, but

thanks to strong word of mouth through news articles and friends, the marketing kind of

does itself.

It's only supplemented by the fact that fans are eagerly sharing their rare draws

and that Nintendo hired multiple artists to assist in character portraits, who have been

eagerly sharing their contributed pieces on social media, to the point where it was one

of the first things I'd always see when logging into Twitter.

And that trend is bound to continue the more characters are added and the more artists

they hire.

While Heroes has proven successful enough to bring in 2 million downloads and nearly

$3 Million in its first day, only about $65,000 of which is estimated to come from the US,

its long-term success is the biggest part of the picture.

Even if Heroes performs as well as Rage of Bahamut and rakes in $43,000 a day on average

after its inevitable slowdown, that's still over $15 Million a year.

It's unlikely to reach Pokémon GO's revenue of 1.6 billion USD and counting, but if the

current spending trend continues with little variance, it could prove to at least be another

goldmine for Nintendo and perhaps more beneficial, even at only half a billion in revenue all

due to Nintendo personally receiving a larger portion of those sales, and that can be further

expanded upon with special and limited time promotions

that offer players a chance at unlocking rarer and exclusive characters, which already seems

certain with dataminers finding Christmas themed costumes in the game's code, even

if they only exist due to a delay from a prior fall release.

But what really matters for Nintendo right now is how well they can translate Heroes'

mobile success to sales of handheld games and the upcoming Switch and 3DS titles, which

shouldn't be a problem through special in-game campaigns/promotions encouraging players to

get both.

Nintendo is certainly a long ways away from where they were a few years back when Iwata

asserted they'd never go to mobile, and while the shift to mobile sounded both absurd

and "about timey" back then, I'm surprised by how well the Nintendo seal of quality has

translated to mobile with Heroes.

I was expecting something passable, but ended up sinking my whole day into the game, finishing

the currently available missions and starting over on hard mode.

You can tell the minute you start playing how much time and love was poured into the

final product and that's a rarity in the mobile market.

Nothing's for certain if Heroes will prove to be a true long-term success or if this

is just another passing fad like Nintendo's previous mobile applications, but for once

the future of a mobile Nintendo title at least seems like one that will leave costumers satisfied

and coming back for months on end.

I've certainly enjoyed the title enough to at least assert that for me that's likely

to be the case, but for the public at large, and those watching, I suppose we can only

wait and see.

I highly recommending watching my other videos when you get the chance and subscribing if

you want more.

I'd give away my Heroes friend code, but I already maxed out my list so feel free to

share your Heroes experience in the comments.

Thanks again so much for watching, I'll see you next time, much love.

Why Frog Tongues Are So Fast And Sticky - Duration: 2:29.

Hi everyone - Emily here for DNews.

Frog tongues are sticky - and extremely fast.

They can capture insects five times faster than you can blink, and grab mice and birds

that weigh up to 1.4 times the frog itself.

For a long time, scientists didn't have a full understanding of how that was possible,

but a new study published in the Journal of the Royal Society Interface uncovered the

true nature of the frog tongue.

The researchers discovered that frogs are able to catch their prey because their tongue

is incredibly soft and is coupled with saliva that changes its viscosity — or its thickness

— depending on the situation.

Here's how it works.

When a frog goes to capture its prey, it slaps its tongue at the victim.

Because of its squishy, soft nature, the tongue curls around the prey and acts like a shock

absorber — taking in the energy of the impact and preventing the food from bouncing away.

A frog's tongue is about 10 times softer than a human's, which allows it to be 10

times as stretchy, spreading out over a large area of its victim.

This larger contact area gives it better adhesion so it doesn't drop its food.

Once the tongue makes contact with a fly, mouse, or bird, then the saliva goes to work.

The saliva is a non-Newtonian fluid, which is a fancy way of saying that it's a fluid

that doesn't follow normal fluid rules.

Unlike regular liquids - like water - a non-Newtonian fluid can change its thickness under pressure.

A frog's saliva, for example, gets thinner when the tongue smacks its food.

This allows the spit to spread over the prey.

As the tongue retracts, the saliva becomes thicker and effectively holds onto the victim.

Once the food enters its mouth, the frog sinks its eyeballs into its head to exert pressure

on the tongue and force the food down.

This also thins the saliva again, causing the prey to slide off the tongue and go down

the frog's throat.

Scientists have long studied the stickiness of amphibian and reptile tongues to try and

learn more about adhesives.

But so far, we have yet to develop a synthetic material that can match the speed and versatility

of a frog's tongue.

Now that we know more about how a frog captures its prey, this could inspire the design of

reversible adhesives that could work at high speeds.

One example could be at a manufacturing plant where you had to pick up delicate components

quickly from a conveyor belt.

Another researcher suggested that it could lead to the possibility of drones fitted with

artificial frog tongues that could grab objects in flight.

So if you're looking to grab things on the go fast, just consult a frog.

If you want to know more about frogs, check out this video on weird frog discoveries here.

What about you?

Who Ya Gonna Foll(ow)? | Dungeons, Dungeons, and More Dungeons - Duration: 10:58.

With pen and paper, shield and sword, our quest shall be our sweet reward!

Welcome to Dungeons Dungeons and More Dungeons.

I am your Dungeons Keeper and Storymaster, Douglas MacKrell.

Welcome back, adventurers.

When last we left off, C.O.R.E. called McLittle's hand and demanded to see your complete Pokemon

Go collection.

Failure to do so would mean a sudden and really painful death for McLittle - followed by the

equally messy deaths of Nachopanda and Nova Hawk.

It was up to you to send in pictures of Pokemon that you caught in the real world, and in

case you don't remember because it was months ago, you knocked it out of the park.

Click the card on your screen if you'd like to check out everyone's submissions!

Because everyone did such a great job, I'm not awarding standard experience, I'm simply

boosting McLittle to Level 6.

What does that mean exactly?

Well, I suggest you head over to the DDAMD Blog on my website.

BigMacKrell.com!

There you'll find McLittle's character sheet that lists all of your stats!

Your current HP, EXP, and GP.

Your equipped weapon, armor, and items, and breakdowns of all the special items you have.

Listing these stats is boring and because of my new Blog, I'm no longer going to constantly

remind you about these things in the show itself.

That said, since you just leveled up, you'll now need to head over to the DDAMD blog and

cast your vote for how you would like to allocate your bonus points.

With the new card based attempt system, I've VASTLY overhauled and simplified how your

stats work.

However, in interest of saving time, I'm not going to explain it here.

If you're interested, click the card on your screen or follow the link in the about

section below.

Now, let's enter the game!

CORE takes a long hard look at your cellphone.

"Well, I'll be!

It does seem that you have collected all of the Pokemon in Pokemon Go.

I mean, it's nothing compared to MY collection.

But I was able to hack their mainframe and gain access to all of the really cool unreleased

Pokemon that n00bs like YOU haven't even seen yet.

Well, I stand corrected!

Has anyone ever told you, you have one of those faces that always makes it look like

you're always lying?

I thought for sure I'd be self cleaning mouse guts from my internal systems for weeks!

Well, a deal's a deal!

Let's get cracking!"

The various missile launchers protruding from CORE retract and the Giant Barreltron takes

a more conversational stance.

From external speakers, its voice booms at Nachopanda and Nova Hawk.

"Gentleman, Unicorn, please stand down.

I assure you, no more harm will come to you."

Nova Hawk leaps forward and shouts "GET SOME!" while firing his arm gun.

GAMEPLAY

"I don't know this guy.

He's not

with me.

Hey, while we're talking and you're not shooting missiles me, did you eat my friend?"

"Egad, no!

Perish the thought!

In fact, please take them."

A hatch opens and ejects McLittle from CORE's cabin.

"Now, listen here.

I am the Computational Optimized Response Engine of this Giant Barreltron, and this

anthropomorphic mouse thing has passed my sophisticated tests and has been granted pilot

status."

"McLittle!

You're alive!

Unicorn Heal!"

Nachopanda casts Unicorn Heal on you and Nova Hawk.

It looks and feels like a gross snotty rainbow colored sneeze in your face, and leaves you

really sticky afterwards.

You and Nova Hawk are fully healed, but you secretly hope you never have to have Nachopanda

ever do that to you again.

"Now, as I was saying, McLittle, as you call it, WOULD be my pilot, if the dunderheaded

ninnys in charge of my construction had installed the proper battery.

It would seem this brief battle has completely depleted my energy reserves, and I must recharge

post haste.

I am available to be summoned at your command, but I warn you.

Until you can upgrade my battery or power systems, I am dramatically limited in what

I can do and how long I can operate."

CORE leans in close.

"And if you morons leave me powerless and stranded on the battlefield, swear on my circuts

that I will find a way to chase you down to the ends of the Earth and murder you one by

one.

Do I make myself clear?"

You shake your head nervously.

"Good.

Well, until you have need of me, I highly recommend brushing up on how I work.

That is, if you even can read.

Cheerio!"

A hatch opens up and spits out the Giant Barreltron Instruction Manual, hitting you right in the

face.

You don't lose any Hit Points, but it bruised your ego pretty good.

In a spectacular show I don't have time to animate, CORE transforms back into a stack

of barrels and plugs back into the wall.

Congratulations!

You've unlocked the Giant Barreltron Pilot job tier!

You can now use your job points to level up your Giant Barreltron Piloting skills and

unlock attacks and abilities in the Barreltron!

Suddenly, the Red Door opens, and General Honeyfox and Scuba Gus burst into the room!

"AAAH!

Every General for himself!"

"Don't leave me sir!

I don't want to die!!"

You stop him and ask him what's going on.

"Oh!

Hey!

You's not dead!

Good for you!

Waitaminute.

Good for me!

Welcome to the Guard Team, new recruits!

You's first mission is to goes into that other room over there and fix..

That whole mess.

While I stays safe over here.

I mean, on guard over here."

"Me too, General?"

"Of course not, Scuba Gus.

Yous outrank them."

"Oh thank, Probabilitor!

All right, recruits.

You heard the General.

Before you go, here's a standard issue Health Pack and Unicorn Gun."

"How am I supposed to use that thing?

I have hooves, not hands you jerk!"

"No no, it's not for Unicorns, it's for shooting Unicorns."

"What?!"

"Hey, don't look at me.

Probabilitor sets the rules, and I just order stuff from the catalog.

Speaking of which, here's your walkie talkie.

If you need more Health Packs or Ammo or whatever on the battlefield, just give me a call.

I should be able to teleport some your way - after they get around to sending it to me

that is.

And within reason!

I need to balance our expense budget!"

You collect 1 Health Pack, 1 Unicorn Gun, 20 Unicorn Bullets, 1 Guard Force catalog,

and 1 Walkie Talkie!

Nova Hawk wakes back up.

"What hit me?"

"That guy in the other room!"

A single tear runs down Nova Hawk's cheek.

"Get some?"

"Yes.

Get some."

Nova Hawk charges into the next room, as you and Nachopanda stand agape at what just happened.

"Now Yous two get in there, before I busts ya down to Regular Gus level!"

"Believe me, you do NOT want that."

You and Nachopanda exchange an exasperated glance, and march through the door into the

next room.

Now before you even have a chance to look around the room, you walk smack into an epic

and colorful battle between a Female Gunspert, and three giant ghosts.

Nova Hawk lays unconscious on the floor in front of you.

The Ghosts and the Gunspert both stop what they're doing and look directly at you.

"Don't just stand there, help me!"

pleads the Gunspert

"No!

Please!

Save us!" wail the ghosts.

Well adventurers, what do you do next?

In the comments below, suggest what our next move should be!

The choice is entirely up to one lucky commenter, butt remember - if you want your suggestion

to be used, it must be only one action.

Not three actions.

Not two actions.

Not twelve actions.

One action.

I will select one at random, and we will progress the story next week!

Original Character Design · 30 Ways to Fill a Sketchbook - Duration: 4:02.

Hi my loves welcome back.

Today's sketchbook session starts with a little bit of brainstorming on some scrap

printer paper, I'm just laying out some really basic simple shapes to get an idea

of the build of my character.

Character design is not something I have remotely any experience with, I do the odd original

characters in my sketches and paintings and things, but never anything extensive, and

I actually realised I don't make up bodies a lot, as in I usually end up using references

for drawing bodies and tend to go for more realistic proportions.

So anyway I really quickly sketched out some ideas, I really didn't have anything in

mind beforehand so they're all different builds and ages and all that and then I narrowed

it down to a couple of bodies that I liked the look of and drew a couple of quick faces,

still keeping it quite ambiguous and then finally I jotted down some notes about who

this person could be.

So once I was in my sketchbook, I carried on laying things in really lightly at first,

just mapping out the page so that there could be like a larger full body drawing, showing

the person in like a pose that is sort of typical to their personality, then a couple

of smaller full body sketches just to show them at different angles and a few heads to

practice some facial expressions.

So the first face I added real detail to was like a neutral one.

And then because I thought this character would be quite clumsy, I decided to do like

a shocked face that they would obviously have you know whenever they mess up and things

like that.

Um if you haven't noticed yet, my character is a young woman, she's wearing a hood,

I wanted her in like a baggy hoodie and skinny jeans, I just like the shape of that silhouette.

The last face expression was kind of a smirky smile, another face the I just thought she

would use a lot.

For the longest time drawing this I couldn't think of a name so I just decided to wait

till the end and see what name I thought would suit the finished character.

Alright so moving on to the body, this is the part I struggled with the most.

The smaller sketches turned out alright, they were just to get a basic idea of her shape

and proportions, but when it came to the larger sketch, I found that the more detail I added,

the less natural it felt.

It got a bit stiff.

And the position felt quite yeah, unnatural.

I think that's just down to lack of experience with this kind of thing, I definitely need

to spend more time drawing bodies, different body shapes, making up poses and things and

not just drawing from reference.

She's holding spray can cos I thought she could be like a graffiti artist, but like

always getting caught, always making mistakes or like having and causing funny accidents

with her clumsiness.

And I was originally gonna ink these sketches after I had pencilled them in but I've really

been loving the pencil look recently and I felt like I had dark enough lines that adding

ink wouldn't really make the biggest difference.

Umm so yeah after a few attempts at putting her face on that full body sketch I just wrote

in a few little notes about who she could be, still trying to come up with a name.

I spent a bit of time adding a few extra details just mulling it over and in the end I thought

she looked like an Amira.

So that's her name!

Anyway guys thanks for watching, I'm by no means the best at inventing original character
