Best Greek animation of 2016 award January 2017 - Duration: 12:30.

New years celebrations and award ceremony for the best Greek animation of 2016.

Ceremony held in "Romanzo" art center in Athens, January 31 2017.

Romanzo, January the 31st.

Today, Asifa Hellas awards the best Greek animation for the year 2016

and celebrates the new year!

...and last but not least the lady of our company, Anastasia Dimitra, also an animator

also working in education of animators

a member of asifa hellas, corresponding member of asifa international.

This year we're more like a family reunion, not as crowded as a year ago.

The member we miss today is Vassilis Kroustalis

artistic director of "Bethere international animation festival of Corfu"

who couldn't be here today, as he should be in Talin, Estonia.

As every year, first we'll cut our pie (a greek tradition for the new year)

and then we'll mete "Stratos Stasinos" award.

For the first time the award of our union is named after a very important creator

and a pioneer in animation, "responsible" for taking Greek animation outside Greek borders.

Animation in Greece was underdeveloped and we were among the last european countries.

It's becoming an institution and we come in "Romanzo" every year at the end of January

and we award the best Greek animations.

Participations were of really high quality

and the voting was difficult.

Vassilis Kroustalis - absent today - was the supervisor of the voting.

The winner was awarded with just a vote more than the second winner.

Some of the 19 shorts that were screened in the festivals in Greece in 2016,

9 of them in particular were really remarkable and 5 of them were of high standards.

The award was named after the animator Stratos Stasinos.

He was a pioneer in Greek animation. He was one of the founders of CARTOON,

(European association of animation) and left us as his greatest heritage his stunning

short, titled 'Tou Kolymbiti" (1985)

He also spent time with workshops for kids

and he directed live action movies and documentaries,

all distinguished for their high level of aesthetics and secularity.

Third prize for "Aenigma" (Adonis Ntousias and Aris Fatouros), an excellent animation.

My personal best, but asifa's voters voted mainly for more narrative projects.

Second prize to "The guillable kiss of Mr. Patokos" (Apostolakis)

a students' animation, coming from the technological school of Athens.

An excellent short, very well animated very well narrated, very good

dramatic use of the characters.

The award for the best Greek animation goes once again in Greek diaspora.

It goes to "Mrs. Metro" (Papantoniou).

He lives and works in Australia.

It is his also his thesis short.

His fellow students in Australia helped him with this project.

Excellent animation as a narration,

and a level of direction that we haven't seen here for many years now.

As far as we can, we'll continue supporting animation and we have already

discussed with Panagiotis Kyriakoulakos to wide our support

also in other fields of animation,

to create opportunites for international co-productions

and specific programs for financing by Greek Film Center.

I believe that we'll be able to say something more specific in the near future.

"Mrs Metro" was a part of my studies.

It was my thesis.

So, a great "thank you" to my teachers and to my fellow students who helped me.

It's a great honor to get awarded with "Stratos Stasinos" ward.

I thank the jury.

I also want to congratulate the rest of the participant creators

I wish you a very good night and I hope that I won't disappoint you in the future.

I want to stand on a certain theme that we didn't mention that much here.

It's about what our chairman said on the preparation of a presentation of a Greek

delegation in Annecy festival.

To me it's an important moment, perhaps the step that we've dreamed to do when we

started this effort for the 70th anniversary of Greek animation.

An effort that started with greekanimation.com and those who invested to the animation festivals.

It all contributed to get Greek animation out of the borders, to the international market.

Circumastances show that we don't move by luck

but we have a strategy which brought us to this point.

I stress it because those 4 months left until Ancecy festival (June 12)

you have the opportunity - and I make an informal yet substantial call -

to all of you animators to prepare, think, collaborate, to join forces

to prepare some projects, i.e. video games, tv series, movies, tv specials etc.

Let's prepare in order not to go there and look not that rich, as the one we would like to look.

We want to show them that we've already started our effort and we prepare

really seriously. Obviously we'll show them the events for the 70 years of Greek animation.

But we must absolutelly show them what we prepare.

What we prepare as for artistic animations but mainly

for tv series or other creations that can find a way to the international market.

I tell you that now in order to schedule it.

It's really worth it!

Have you ever slept passed your alarm? I set mine at 7am today, got up at 8.

don't know what happened, just slept right through it.

Welcome to this vlog. This is a very special vlog because at five I'm going to see a concert

I'm going to see Falling in Reverse, which is my favorite band of all time.

I've seen them live twice so this will be the third time.

If you watched my transformation video, I used a Falling in Reverse song in that one.

I've met the lead singer. I'll put a picture right here.

I love this band! i'll take you guys along with me. But we'll talk about that later.

Its 9:10. I have class at 9:30. but I have to go print something out first.

I wanted to get up early to go print, but that ship has sailed. Ok, let's get the day started.

Next class will be Art History. School! Learning! FUN! FUN!

Finished my last class. Walking to the library right now, to print out my concert ticket

I already have my ticket online. Just printing it out incase. I can't miss this show.

Printed it out. Everything is going according to plan. I'm super hungry right now, so gonna get something to eat.

I got up late so I only had time to eat some oats and whey.

Before the show, we're gonna train some legs. Its snowing out!

But we're pretty crunched on time. Only got 45-50 minutes because I have to go back and shower and change.

The venue isn't far. Its around the camera store I went to two videos ago.

Its around there, a 15 minute walk. OK gym time.

On that last calve movement I got a cramp. I don't know why I always cramp up on calves.

Changed into my Falling in Reverse t-shirt. I'm really excited to see my idol Mr. Ronnie Radke.

There are two other bands on the tour. Issues, and Motionless in White, you might've heard of them.

The lead singer of Motionless in White is Chris Motionless. I'm going to take the train there.

Got into the venue. I'm waiting in line to check my coat.

Its 5:30pm right now. It looks like it hasn't started yet judging by the noise. Exciting!

Time to go in.

Theres a lot of people but its not full. The show isn't sold out.

The show is over. Gotta hotdog to eat.

That show was so epic. Best concert of my life.

They played songs off the old record that they don't normally play live. That was amazing.

They currently have 3 new singles out, they played them all.

I was so glad

I think I lost my voice, singing the whole time

Got to see Ronnie Radke, its always worth it

And I was happy to see the rock culture. Circle pits, mosh pits etc. Always good to see

There's really nothing interesting going on these next couple of days. Just classes and homework.
