Why are you afraid?
We must be afraid
One is afraid
You have to be afraid of these
I even fear bublegums
Hey, I'm Tompos Marci
and this is XYZ, Momentum's vlog.
Fear is like a virus message on your screen.
If it appears, you can be sure that something is really wrong in the system.
Fear, by itself, is not a bad thing though,
moreover, it's completetely natural.
Like the fear ofdeath
of certain animals,
or even a difficult exam
and plenty of other stuff.
"National Tax and Customs Administration"
For instance, how creepy it is
when the floor cracks in the other room
while you are quite sure
that you are alone in the flat.
The point is that fear is natural
and present in one way or another with all of us.
Sometimes it's valid
Sometimes not so much
What is not natural though,
when fear appears
because we are told be afraid.
Let me tell you a story about it.
Once upon a time, there was a big assembly
where they discussed who should fix Wonderland.
One of the contestants said:
Watch out, as if I won't be king
the evil bear will return.
And Wonderland's people chose him to be king.
"Good, now how will yo fix the country?"
First, give me gold
otherwise the evil bear will return
he answered, and the people gave.
Okay, but NOW how will you fix the country?
The evil bear will return!
he responded, but the people rather chose another king.
Give me gold, or 23 million Romanians will come
said the new king, and the people gave.
Okay, but how will you fix the country?
We shall do it! We won't f*ck it up!
said the king
but the people didn't believe him anymore
so they chose the previous king again.
Give me gold or the evil bear will return.
But seriously, how will you fix...
Give me gold or radicals will come!
and the people gave again, and tremblingly asked again
Okay, but NOW how will you...
Give me gold or the people of other faith will come!
interrupted the king.
By then the people were so afraid
that they even forgot to ask.
And thus the king lived ever after
until he failed.
And that here it isn't a fairy tale
I guess you already know very well.
"The radical people and groups
are equipping themselves with tools extremely dangerous to the public."
Obligatory resettlement quotas
increase the possibility of terrorism.
We must be afraid!
And if we do, let's let
the state to take full control
on more and more fields
as this is safer and more "secure".
If you don't agree?
"Downtown apartment for 5 million? Anyone?
Started the Facebook post
which ended in a court case...
17 of those who shared were detained.
"Our guest is Horváth András
ex-tax controller
who tried to uncover tax evasion
but became suspect himself."
So, by now it's not only an outside enemy one must be afraid of
but of saying
sharing
or liking ("Think thank threatening employees of losing job if they "like" the campaign against the olympics)
something the system does not approve.
But before we all get totally afraid
let's speak about two things.
First, a system only plays on fear
and diverts attention
if it lacks the answers for society's problems.
"Why did you start the negotiations with the clinic
only after the closure of the breast milk collecting centre?"
Second, it only works if we let it do.
But if we resist and share
"Szekszárd's court recently decided.
In the binding decision they declared: sharing is not a crime."
Or speak up:
"Around 1.500 people gathered for Horváth András,
the ex-tax controller
on the simpathy protest in Budapest, on Saturday.
And especially, if we only "like" something
then they play on fears to a much small degree. (It is illegal to fire someone for "liking")
So if we are flooded with messages
about that we need to be afraid
then we can be sure
that there's a much larger problem in the background
to which politicians have no answer.
So we should not be afraid to say that
"Hungary needs politicians who act."
And not fear.
For the end, I'd like to ask you:
What do you think, why do politicians play on our fears?
If you have any answer, leave a comment below.
See you tomorrow. Bye.
