Waching daily Feb 1 2017

Hello, I'm Odin, and this time I am going to make something that actually has been requested.

Thank you Leon Takaru, you rock.

I gonna make the Zero Suit Samus gun.

This Paralyzer was originally made for Smosh, and was used in their Smash Rap music video.

It was one of three major props I did for that shoot, the other was Mario Kart Blue Shell,

which I covered in another video, and Mario's green pipe, which was made from

the cardboard tubes used to form concrete columns and some plywood.

To make my pistol, I needed a pattern.

So I downloaded an image from the internet, scaled it to the size that I wanted,

and traced it onto a piece of Plywood.

Then I cut it out on a bandsaw.

I wrap the sides with a couple pieces of 2mm foam, trimming them off after they were glued on.

I decided to start with the pistol Grip, I cut the pattern out of the same piece of paper,

traced it onto more foam, and glued it on with contact cement.

I wrap the edge of the plywood with more foam, and then add little pieces to the back to

continue the pistol grip overlay.

I will sand the edges and round the corners later, but first I will add the butt plate.

To do that I will take two pieces of 5mm foam, stick them together, and sand the edges so they look like one piece.

Then I will glue it on the bottom.

I will use a fresh pattern to make the back of the gun, first I cut two pieces of 5mm foam,

and bevel the bottom edge to meet the grip.

I will need to layer 2 and 5mm foams to make a strip to cover the top of the barrel.

The front of the gun will be made the same way.

And to place the foam correctly, I can use the printout as a stencil.

I will add the top piece first, and then the two sides.

So I've got these parts put on.

Now on the original one I just left them square, but this time I wanna go ahead and round them off with a sander.

The random orbit sander removes material very quickly, I have to be careful,

or I will just gouge the foam.

To add more depth and detail, I will add a layer of 2mm foam.

It's fun working with contact cement like this.

Once it sets up, it's like putting on stickers.

I am going to use 5mm foam for the front of the barrel.

I will start with tracing my pattern on one side, then I can wrap the foam around the

gun to figure out where the other side needs to be cut.

Since this foam is thicker, I will heat the foam and make it curved before I glue it on

with a heavy coat of cement.

The bottom of the front barrel is also going to be 5mm foam with a 2mm foam overlay,

but I am not going to sand it, it will remain square.

So I just use 2mm foam to cover the wood.

To make all the small details on each side of the pistol, I am using self-adhesive 2mm foam.

It sticks really well to the contact cement, so applying all the little pieces is easy.

To add the round button or hinge that goes on each side, I cut a disc of foam using a

hole cutter from a large grommet set.

For the safety switch I stick two pieces of the adhesive foam together to make a slightly

thicker piece, and glue that on end to one side.

Before I make the trigger assembly, I am going to sand the grip into a more rounded shape.

I just want to round off the corners, and the cut outs.

So the way the trigger is drawn on the paper isn't gonna work out in foam, not very well,

so I'm gonna go ahead and square it off.

To make the trigger and trigger guard, I cut the whole thing out of one piece of 5mm foam,

then I add some 2mm foam pieces to bulk it up and define the trigger.

Then I just cement the trigger assembly to the gun.

The exposed wood will be painted black later.

Now to start on the muzzle.

First I'll make the lower part, I just cut some of the thick foam like a tiny tombstone,

and glued a small washer onto it.

To make the smaller hole, I poked the foam with my smallest soldering iron.

Make sure you have ventilation if you try this, the fumes it makes kinda smell like death.

Now I need to make the barrel.

On the original gun I just super glued and acrylic tube onto the end of it, which promptly broke off.

With the correct one, I'd like to go ahead and make a hexagonal little tube to come out

of the front of it, but it's kind of a cone shape too, so a hexagonal cone?

Yeah, that's gonna be fun.

To make the cone, I will stick adhesive foam together again and cut six small strips.

Then I can guess at what taper to cut for the sides.

And I made all my cuts with an angle.

I'll super glue the pieces together, and squeeze them into the front.

The cone worked out fine, I will just trim the sides to be straight.

Then I can add the additional vent muzzle thingy on the top.

I liked using the soldering iron on the foam, so I add a few more points on the trigger,

and pilot holes for some screws I can put in after I paint.

The first coat of paint is just flat black spray paint, mostly to seal the exposed contact cement.

Then I can mix some craft paints for a grey to coat most of the body,

then paint the grip brown, and the butt plate a bright silver.

I don't want to weather the gun to make it look dirty, I think Samus takes care of it.

Then I will add four small screws to the side as a final decoration.

And now you can make your own Zero Suit Samus pistol.

Heck, you could modify my ideas and make a blaster all of your own.

The list of materials I used is pretty small, so I will put them in the description for you.

Now remember, there's many different ways that you can make something,

but this is how Odin Makes.

If you liked this video or have ideas for something for me to make, please leave them in the comments below.

And if you make any of these projects, you can send me a picture at odin@odinmakes.com.

Testing Medibang Paint [ Voice Over ] - Duration: 15:22.

Hi everyone! How are you?

As you may guess today's speedpaint is a Voice Over. I felt like talking to you all for a bit :)

You can also see that today I'm not using Paint Tool SAI as I usually do

For this one I decided to try a program called Medibang Paint Pro.

So today I'll explain you some things about this program for you to know it a little better.

Medibang is a totally free drawing software

You can also use it on your phone/tablet.

I'll leave you the link of the official website in the description box

and you can check it later and read the instructions to download, install and use it.

It's a very light program, installation was really fast and easy.

To take full advantage of it you should create an account on their website

that way you'll be able to download lots of materials, brushes

or creating your own custom ones and then uploading them to the Internet

so other people can download and use them. That way we can share our knowledge with other artists.

I've tested Medibang using my old but loyal Wacom Bamboo Pen

and pressure worked perfecly fine. It doesn't seem to have big compatibility issues with graphic tablets.

Let's talk a bit about the brushes.

At first sight they may look a bit limited but as I said you can download more by creating an account.

And you can actually customize them a lot to fit your own taste and needs.

Brushes aren't located all over the left side of the screen (like in Photoshop)

You can find them by clicking on the Pen/Brush icon at the top, and then moving to the bottom box.

Okay, let's start by comenting the bad things I've found.

There were a few things I found uncomfortable from the beggining.

You can open several files at the same time but it won't let you move them along the workspace

so you can see more than 1 file at the same time.

So I couldn't have the reference of the character and my illustration open side by side at the same time.

However there's this very interesting window at the top left

It is literally a window where you can open any picture to have them as a reference

Hence the name... "Reference"

It still felt a bit weird for me to use it, but I must admit it is a nice thing that not every program has (like SAI).

And that way the lack of visualizing more than 1 file at the same time is less noticeable.

What more?... uhm...

Ah! It lacks of a... how could I say it? ...

Rotating Wheel?

Meaning it does have a button to rotate to the left and another one to rotate to the right

but it doesn't have a button to do both things at the same time.

(Maybe it does have it but I really couldn't find it or even configure it to my liking)

Again that is almost no noticeable because you can do it by using a bar that appears there

when you pass with your mouse over it.

Basically you just need to drag the bar to one side or another to rotate the canvas.

It's really easy.

But since I'm used to do it with the R on my keyboard it felt a bit uncomfortable having to do it on the screen.

The few options to edit colors, such as Brightness/Contrast and Hue/Saturation

also work slighlty different than they do on SAI.

They also felt a bit weird at first.

I think we can finally move to the positive things! ♥

The program is very light but that doesn't mean it is too simple!

It has Text tools, Ruler tools for perspective,

it can also save files in psd (photoshop) format

which is really handy if you need to export it to other programs

because nowadays most of the drawing programs can save and load .psd files

Stabilizer works well too, is very similar to the SAI one.

Both the Bucket Tool and the Magic Wand can recognize what's drawn on the picture right now

and use those parameters to select or fill certain parts of the drawing easily.

It's a similar option to the Selection Source that SAI has.

Comes with Shape Tools to make circles, polygons (SAI doesn't have any of these yet).

So it's a plus :)

There's also a tool to make Gradients like in Photoshop.

there's no such a thing on SAI for the time being.

On SAI you have to make them manually.

The brushes can achieve really big sizes.

Comes with 3 options for layers: one is to block the layer's limit which would be Preserve Opacity on SAI.

A clipping group option too.

and the third one allows you to block the layer totally to prevent you from modifying it by mistake.

Photoshop has this kind of option but SAI doesn't yet.

Comes with some Blending Modes for layers as well.

The usual ones like Multiply, Screen, Overlay, etc.

Don't expect it to have a huge list of modes xD

And also comes with a Gaussian Blur option. Again this feature is available on Photoshop but not SAI.

And what I like a LOT from Medibang is that is has an Auto-Save option!

You can set it to your liking so it auto-saves the file every 5, 10, 20 minutes...

Yeah some programs may do like temporary save files

to prevent you from loosing everything in case the program crashes.

But this is the first time I've ever seen a program that actually saves your file automatically.

Just like when you do it by yourself, but with this option the program does it for you.

I'm not saying we should forget about saving manually with this!

But I think it's very nice that there's an auto-save option

because I'm sure many of you have lost at least one or two drawings

just because one day you forgot to save for about 2 hours, the program crashed suddenly

and the drawing got destroyed uwu

At this point I had to switch to Paint Tool SAI to finish this piece.

Not because the program wasn't working well

but because I was getting tired of not knowing where everything was placed

and this was also a commission so I chose finishing it in a program I knew and work comfortably

rather than risking for the picture to be of a lower quality

because I didn't have enough experience to manage this program or because of the stress I was getting

by this lack of experience xD

So, let's sum things up!

Overall I think Medibang is a really good program.

It's pretty complete.

I'd say it's something in the middle of the simple, yet effective, Paint Tool SAI

and more complex drawing program like Clip Studio Paint or the well know Photoshop.

It's totally free which is really kind from them, specially for begginers that

are still learning how to use digital tools and don't want to spend too much money on certain things.

I know it also comes with tools and options to make Comics

but I haven't tried any of those so I can't say a thing about it.

But I wanted to let you know that it has some tools for that, which is already more than what SAI has currently.

The few bad things I've pointed out about the program

are all because of my personal preferences.

It's not like the program doesn't work well or the tools are bad or anything like that

I'm just used to work in a certain way, with certain tools and settings

so when changing to a new program things will be placed in a different way or work differently

and it's hard to get used to those changes at the beggining.

But overall I'd give Medibang a high grade!

Being a free program I did NOT expect it to be of any good.

but it met my expectations in the end.

And as you can see you can make great quality illustrations with Medibang.

If you're looking for your first digital drawing program

I'd totally recommend Medibang.

Or if you're looking for an alternative to the one you're currently using, I'd recommend it too.

By testing different programs you'll eventually find the one where you work more comfortably.

We're finished with the Medibang talk, but since I see there's still some time left

would you like for me to try to explain you my coloring method for a bit?

(since I get that requested a lot on my social media)

As I said, I will TRY. You know I'm not the best at explaining certain things uwu

As you may have noticed, lately I started to color my illustrations like this:

I make a preliminary shadow over each color layer.

It's kind of a simple shadow, sometimes imprecise too

and the color may not be the final one neither.

The function of this preliminary shadow

is that once everything is colored

I could tell if everything looks like I wanted or if something must be fixed.

If I don't like a certain part, I change it.

So once everything look good, I go back to every shadow layer

Click on the Preserve Opacity of that said layer.

So I can paint on the shadow layer without going farther than its limits

and then I add more color, darkness...

I try to give it more expressiveness or depth to each shadow.

It's not necessary to use a darker color

you can also use a more saturated color

or quite the opposite, a brighter color so it gives the picture kind of an unrealistic or magic feeling.

Trust me, it can work very well.

Like I did on the upper part of the legs

the tips of the hair (which you'll see later)

or some clothing folds.

While I work on each shadow I also make use of some Blending Modes

such as Overlay, Luminosity, Lumi&Shade...

I don't have a specific rule to use them

I just use them when I think I need them to create certain effects I want to achieve.

If you need a further explanation about those Blending Modes

you may want to check this other video.

Last I add some lights on a new layer if I think I need them

and we're done! :)

Once the illustration is basically finished

I go up to the lineart layer (or group of layers)

I create a new layer, clip it to the lineart

and I start coloring on it to change the lineart colors to something softer.

If you already like how your black lines look (or whatever color you use for your lines)

you don't have to change them.

But I dislike how black lines look on my illustrations that's why I change them at the end.

I think that way I can give the picture a softer or sweeter look.

Lately I've also been adding some white lines on my illustrations.

I do that in order to create more depth or separate some parts of the picture.

To do that I just merge all the layers into one.

I make a new layer and clip it to where the drawing is.

And draw some white lines with whatever random brush.

It's also an optional step.

Some months ago I didn't do that, so many in the future I'll stop doing it

and then I'll go back to using that method and so on...

It's just a little detail to make your illustrations funnier.

Lastly we move to Photoshop

and fight with it for a while until a good background comes out xD

I'll show you how to make backgrounds and the color correction and effects I use

in another video, okay? ^w^

If you're looking for more tutorials about coloring

you may also check this one.

There I explain some tricks that you may find useful.

That's it for today! :)

I hope this kind of quick "review" about Medibang was useful for you guys.

And I hope you've enjoyed this video as well.

See you on the next one! Bye ♥

Quantico 2x11 Sneak Peek "ZRTORCH" (HD) Season 2 Episode 11 Sneak Peek - Duration: 1:15.

Were you sent to Zandvoort?

I was.

We coordinated the enhanced interrogation of Doro

before he testified for war crimes.

We wanted to

make sure he didn't

implicate the United States

in his testimony.

That's another

point of confirmation.

Why do you sound surprised?

He's saying all the right things,

but the alias associated

with the torture of Doro

is female.

It's a match,

but it's a false positive.

I think he's giving someone else's answers.

What do you mean? Velez is lying?

His answers make him a match.

Why would he lie to kill himself?

The algorithm can't tell me that.

It only tells me he's not who

you're looking for.

You can't kill him.

He's innocent.

At least of what he's saying he did.

He's guilty of something. You just said so.

We ask until we get a confirmation!

That's not how this works. We are off base.

Just because our intention is right

doesn't mean our math is.

I think you need to let him go.

Who is Velez protecting?

Who is he protecting?

Fine.

I'll put the bullet in him myself.

Stoned At Pompeii - VERKAMI 2017 - Duration: 3:29.

The aim of this album is

to settle down this project in which we were working since many years

and go for it

Stoned At Pomeii is a project

where you never know exactly what's going to happen

we like to be unexpected

and to break the monotony

of the music now a days

and don't stop ourselves

This album is very important for us

especially because it's the first one

I'm amazed of being part of this band, Stoned At Pomeii

because of the very professional work that resides behind it, that most of the time we don't realise

After many bands in which we were, and our experience in studio since we were teenagers

personally, I was so impatient to produce this album

The idea is clear:

we wanted to be ourselves the ones in charge

of the album production

leaded by Adolfo FH

and then we could take care of all the details

We were able to work in every song separately

We did everything as we wanted

without the pressure of the studio

or time pressure

we knew that it was the only way to obtain the results we wanted

This album involved a huge amount of work

All the work, all the hours

of work behind

We used all kind of backline

12 string guitars, acoustic guitars, organs, synths, ...

orchestrations, everything we learned to play in this time

The sound we're obtaining m in the mix, before the mastering

is expectacular

I reckon everyone will like this album, because of the variey of styles

and also because we'll show a great punch live

The verkami is fundamental in order that this album becomes true

and now we need you to finish it

What's true is that the music business in XXI century has changed

and what I like in the crowdfunding is that everyone can be a part of the album

I think that the Verkami is a great idea, and a way for you to get involved with this project

Nowadays, a band's success only depends in their self-promotion

and not everyone can afford recording, promotion, and edition expenses

videos, merchandising, etc., and at the end

that's the important

What we'd like is that all of you can enjoy a nice CD, with the cover in a real box, the merchandising, T-Shirts,...

We hope that this will be the year of Stoned At Pompeii

and we hope to have your support, and that you enjoy the rewards

that we prepared to thank you to be there for us

and take into account that this work wouldn't be possible without you all, you are a part of it

thank you

Finally, we'd like to thank you all, and to conclude that we are very proud to share the excitement of this first album with you

Stoned At Pompeii has come to stay

Kids Can Make: A Zoo of Pancake Animals - Duration: 1:31.

GRACIE: Pancake animals are a crafty way

to eat your breakfast.

Kids can make pancake animals.

GRACIE (VOICEOVER): First, you start out

with regular pancake batter.

Make a big stack of different-sized pancakes.

Those look so good.

I was thinking that we could do a lion and an owl.

Ah, I like that.

GRACIE (VOICEOVER): Next, cut the fruit

for the animal features.

SARAH BALKE: We might as well just eat it.

Hm mm.

SARAH BALKE: So let's do our bodies.

So we need to have an owl head.

Now we need to make the base for our lion.

And then we're going to have these little snout cheeks.

GRACIE: Oh, yeah.

SARAH BALKE: And then we want to make its ears.

GRACIE: It kind of looks like a teddy bear.

SARAH BALKE: Don't worry.

We'll make him look like a fierce ferocious lion.

Yeah, fierce and brave.

SARAH BALKE: So how good is your memory?

I have a good memory.

Well, we're going to put it to the test.

OK, Grace, hidden underneath these little cups

are pairs of ingredients we're going to use

to decorate our pancakes.

So you can lift up two at a time.

And every time you get a match, oh, you got it.

Then we can come over and we place it on the correct place.

The blueberries are part of the lion's eyes.

These are the feet for our owl.

GRACIE: Perfect.

SARAH BALKE: So these are eyeballs.

There we go.

Oh, look how fun that is.

GRACIE: That looks cool.

We're going to make the mane by putting strawberries

all around the edge.

GRACIE (VOICEOVER): Put the finishing touches to make

your animal come to life.

There.

Looks like he's about to go in flight, puff up.

Yeah.

There and there, voila.

Kids Can Make: Taco Burger Mash-Up - Duration: 2:22.

A taco cheeseburger is a cheeseburger mixed with a taco.

Taco cheeseburger, kids can make it too.

As we're going to be making our lunch,

I want us to be playing a little game

talking about the food groups.

The food groups is dairy, fruit,

protein, grain, and vegetables.

So I'm going to have you mix together some spices.

So that's some chili powder.

- All of it? - All of it.

Some cumin.

Cumin.

Here's some salt. Can you whisk that all together?

Mm-hmm.

Perfect.

That looks great.

So here's our beef.

Can you tell me which food group does this belong to?

Not vegetables, not fruit.

Protein?

Yeah, you got it.

So now we're going to take our protein

and we're going to make it into burgers.

So I'm going to form this into some patties.

Patties?

Yeah.

We sprinkle seasoning so that it tastes great.

Hold it up high.

Twirl your fingers like that and move it around.

There you go.

Now we need to flip these over.

We want both sides taste good.

And then you cut it in half.

Give it a little wiggle.

Great.

We're going to actually turn these into cheeseburgers.

Can you tell me what food group does cheese go into?

Go find your card.

Dairy?

Yeah, you got it.

And then fold the cheese and rip the cheese in half.

So now we need to put a little bit of oil in our pan

so that our meat doesn't stick.

So now we're letting our burgers cook.

Now we're going to start flipping our burger halves.

Then you put the cheese on the burger.

Perfect.

Here, this one goes here.

And that cheese is going to get--

Melty.

--nice and melty, right.

OK, these look done to me.

Oh, yummy.

Put tin foil, and you let steam come out,

but the heat stays in.

Now it's time to build our tacos.

So we need some tortillas, right.

Can you tell me which food group do tortillas belong to?

Grain!

Yeah, you got it.

Let's make our base a little bit of lettuce.

Now we need our burger patties.

Which one do you want? - This one.

This one, the big one?

Are you hungry?

And then you add tomatoes, salsa,

and I'm putting some sour cream on it.

I know it tastes great.

You can fold this over, make our tacos.

I think it's going to taste really good, right?

I'm the best taco cheeseburger chef in the world.
