This is Ron from super8tovideo. In a moment I'll be showing my first render using the
plugin Neat Video. It is a denoise filter. There are denoise filters in Video Studio
Pro and I was always disappointed by them. I am extremely happy with the results that
Neat Video gives. The thing I like the least about Neat Video is it is not compatible with
Video Studio Pro. It is compatible with Pinnacle Studio 20 and that is the program I bought
and used to render the coming film. This page shows the video editing programs that Neat
Video is compatible with as of July 22, 2017. At the moment Neat Video cost around $100
U S dollars for the full version and $75.00 for a 1080P version versus higher resolutions
and you can not render files over 30 minutes long unless you purchase the full version.
The 8mm film I am now playing on the right side is a direct render from Video Studio
Pro. On the left side it is the same film exported using Pinnacle Studio and the Neat
Video filter. Keep in mind this video was first copied using what I call the European
version of the Wolverine. It copies the video in 1080P versus the 720P the Wolverine uses.
It is the same machine and comes from exactly the same factory that the Wolverine comes
from. It is the software that has the sensor copy in 1080P instead of 720P like the Wolverine.
Unfortunately because they then compress the file a lot I can not tell much difference
if any difference in the picture quality between the two machines. I just recently bought this
machine and all the previous videos to this date I have uploaded were copied using the
Wolverine. So the video on the right was slowed down to the correct speed, I then used the
cropping feature and then magnified it. I did all this using Video Studio Pro and then
I rendered the file. Keep in mind, each step loses resolution and the magnification probable
causes the file to lose the most. This rendered file was then imported into Pinnacle Studio
20 ran through Neat Video using the little knowledge I picked up from watching Youtube
tutorials and fiddling with it this weekend. I then exported this file from Pinnacle Studio
20. It was then imported back into Video Studio Pro so I can show it side by side and will
be rendered again. Then the file will be uploaded to Youtube losing even more detail. So that
is the file you are watching. I bring this up because at each step it loses a little
of its resolution. I am hoping the improvement I am seeing Neat Video did will still be visible
by the time you receive it. This is just a first look at Neat Video. I plan on doing
some tutorials on Neat Video once I become a lot more familiar with the program. I mean
a lot more familiar because I barely understand how to use it at the moment. In the mean time
I will keep on putting out tutorials. Most of these new tutorials, till I master Neat
Video will be on using the Wolverine and it may even seem like I should call super8tovideo
the Wolverine channel instead. I will do this because as I learn Neat Video
I want to keep putting out content so people know this channel isn't abandoned. Wolverine
videos are easy for me to do because I am very familiar with the machine. By the way
if you ever wondered when I will put out part 5 of comparing the Wolverine to a professional
service that will happen after I see how much difference that Neat Video makes to the Wolverine
files compared to the professional files that Legacy Digital copied for me. I am putting
this portion of the film in slow motion because it really shows how much difference that Neat
Video makes. See the clouds reflected in the window and the woman standing there on the
left with most of the noise removed. Hope you all found this video useful this is Ron
of super8tovideo signing off.
