Can Poppy Seeds Make You Fail a Drug Test? - Duration: 2:50.

If you've ever had to take a drug test for sports or work, a well-meaning friend might

have warned you to skip that poppy seed bagel for breakfast.

It sounds like an urban legend, but poppy seeds might actually make you test positive

for opiates – a group of highly-regulated or illegal drugs that can be really addictive.

Turns out, morphine and poppy seeds come from the same plant: the opium poppy.

So it's possible that a tiny, but detectable, amount of morphine or related chemicals might

show up in a urine test, all because of an innocent-looking food.

Opium is a milky goo that's naturally made in the opium poppy's seed pods.

This plant goop contains a lot of different alkaloids, which are a class of nitrogen-containing

chemicals that have a lot of effects on the human body.

Some alkaloids can mimic or block different neurotransmitters, which are chemicals that

bind to receptors in your brain.

And this can affect how you perceive pain or euphoria, and can even lead to addiction.

You might have heard of the alkaloid morphine, for instance.

It's found in opium, and it's a powerful painkiller and precursor to the illegal drug heroin.

Poppy seeds don't contain many or any alkaloids on their own, but they might get some chemical

residue on them while they're being harvested.

The trace amounts of opiates that might end up in your poppy seed muffin won't come

anywhere close to a prescription dose of morphine.

But urine tests that are designed to detect drugs are pretty sensitive.

The first step in a typical urine test is to check whether there's any drug molecules

at all.

It's called an immunoassay, because it uses antibodies, like the proteins in your immune

system, to recognize specific molecules, like opiates.

The antibodies are also engineered to make a detectable signal to say, "hey, there's

some chemical here!"

If the immunoassay test comes up positive, the next step is to double-check those results,

and see how much of each chemical there is in there.

For that, scientists can use a technique called gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, to separate

and analyze different kinds of molecules.

Abusing opiates would leave a lot more morphine in your system than just snacking on poppy

seed muffins, so that's why the concentration matters in a drug test.

In the 2000s in the U.S., the threshold for opiates in a urine sample was raised from

300 to 2000 nanograms per milliliter, to hopefully reduce false alarms from anything like poppy seeds.

Still, if you're about to take a drug test, it might not hurt to eat a nice, safe blueberry

bagel with your morning coffee… just in case.

Hey everyone it's me L.N. Reacts, and we're here with a new video

And this time I'm giving you my predictions for WWE Elimination Chamber

Which is coming this sunday ands I'm really looking forward to it

I'm telling you right now, I won't be able to react to the full show

I'm really sure I'm not going to

Because this weekend my Family will come home and I can't record in front of them, if you know what I mean

I'll try to record my reaction at least to the Main Event

The Elimination Chamber match

But I'm not sure

Now let's with what you came to see, my predictions for the event

Pre-show match, Mojo Rawley faces Curt Hawkins for Zack Ryder's friendship

"It's just Pre-show filler!"

It could've make more sense if it was for Zack Ryder's friendship

Anyways

My prediction, Mojo Rawley, that's it, next match

2-on-1 Handicap match, Apollo Crews and Kalisto team up to take on Dolph Ziggler

This is a match I'm really not looking forward

Of course, the 3 of them are great Wrestlers, thay can have a great match

No doubt, but knowing WWE, they're not gonna let them steal the show

And I don't know I think Dolph Ziggler is going to win

Just because he's the one with the most credibility

I'm not sure

but I Think Dolph Ziggler wins

next match, Becky Lynch faces Mickie James

I really hope WWE gives them enough time because if they have at least 10 minutes it can be a really good match

I really don't know who's gonna win

On one side, I think Becky is gonna win because we're close to Wrestlemania and you have to make someone like Becky look strong

Because I'm sure she'll be part of the Women's Title Match at that event

But on the other side, I don't think they'll have Mickie losing on her re-debut

As a singles wrestler, this will be her first singles match since returning to WWE

Not counting NXT TakeOver

Therefore she has to win, but I'm not sure

But I think Becky Lynch will win

Smackdown Tag Team Championships Tag Team Turmoil

American Alpha defends against Bree-zango, the Vaudevillains, The Ascenssion, Slater and Rhyno, and the Usos

I think this match can be really good

Yeah, most of the teams are lacking of credibility

By example, Vaudevillains

Bree-zango

The Ascenssion despite they won at Smackdown Live

But most of the teams have no credibility, no one cares about these teams

Therefore I think the winners will be either American Alpha...

The Usos or Slater and Rhyno

And I think American Alpha will retain

I don't think they'll lose the titles just like that

So yeah, my prediction, American Alpha

Women's match, and a 5-Stars promise!

Naomi really deserves to be Women's Champion from a long time ago

The Road to Wrestlemania 31

When she had a little rivalry with Nikki Bella

Do you rember that thing between Miz, Jimmy Uso and all that stuff?

I thibk that was the moment

Because she's a really talented girl, really charismatic

And I think she deserves to be champion

But this is not the moment

I think it's obvious this is just a filler rivalry on the road to Wrestlemania

Just a transition Rivalry on the road to Wrestlemania

Therefore I think Alexa Bliss will retain

Now we move on to the Chamber match, I'm saving Orton vs Harper for the end because I have some interesting things to say about that match

Elimination Chamber match

John Cena defends the WWE Championship against AJ Styles, Bray Wyatt, the Miz, Dean Ambrose and Baron Corbin

I'm really hiped for this match

The 6 are great Wrestlers at their own style

And together they can have a great match for the Crowd and everyone watching around the world

First of all, I'll start with my prediction of the Eliminations

I think The Miz will be the first eliminated

Because...

I know he did a lot of great things with the IC Title and it would be cool to see him doing the same with the World Title

But I don't think he should win at this event

Not even make it to the final 2, to be honest, I think he's just a filler

TBH I Think Miz is a filler in this match

And he'll be the first eliminated

I believe Baron Corbin will be the second eliminated

Yeah, he's coming from eliminating Braun Strowman and winning a Fatal 4 Way at Smackdown Live

He's looking really strong

Yeah, he IS looking strong

but I think this will not be his moment

Not yet at least

But I'm sure that through out the year we'll get to see Baron Corbin maybe world Champion

To me, Dean Ambrose will be the third eliminated

And he'll be eliminated by AJ Styles

Which, in my opinion

Will set up a IC Title match between AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose at Wrestlemania

The fourth eliminated will be...

John Cena, yeah

To me, John Cena will be the 4th eliminated, he will not be in the final 2 and He'll lose the Championship

And we'll have a final for the "Vacant" WWE Championship

So the final 2 are AJ Styles and Bray Wyatt

And I predict Bray Wyatt is going to win

I think him winning the Tag Team Titles

With Wyatt Family at the start of the year

It was like a test to see...

How he looked with a Championship and it looks like WWE liked it because...

He's in this Title match

And he's a big favourite to win the Championship according to some Betting odds!

And I thik the same about Bray winning

Now we come to the final prediction

Luke Harper vs Randy Orton and now I'm gonna tell you why I saved this match for the end

My prediction is that Luke Harper's going to win, AND...

After defeating the Royal Rumble match winner

He'll demand a Championship match at Wrestlemania as well

Therefore at Wrestlemania it will be...

Bray Wyatt

Luke Harper

And Randy Orton
