Hello everyone, today I'm here to introduce my new YouTube channel, Kyle's Camp, which
will provide instructional basketball videos for kids looking to improve their skills.
My name is Kyle Lewis, and I look forward to sharing my passion for the game of basketball
with you guys.
So I wanted to start by giving you my background and my story and why I'm inspired to share
the game of basketball with kids who may not have had as much exposure to it early on.
So as a kid, my parents did not always have the financial ability to put me through basketball
camps or basketball leagues.
It was through selfless individuals who took their unpaid time to teach me different drills
that allowed me to stay competitive at each level of basketball I went through.
This is exactly what I want to provide through my YouTube channel.
I want to give kids the opportunity to excel at the game of basketball without having to
pay for these expensive camps or leagues.
This means that the majority of the content on this channel will be geared towards providing
these instructional basketball videos of ball handling and shooting drills that show many
different ways that you can improve these skills and continuously improve on your own.
One example of these drills is simply ball handling with cones.
This drill allows you to continuously work on your ball handling while just getting comfortable
dribbling a basketball.
These cones are meant to simulate defenders, and at each cone you use a dribble move to
get around them.
Although this may seem like a simple drill, this allows you to work on the fundamentals
which are so important to improving your overall basketball game.
So I wanted to end today by saying, each kid deserves the opportunity to learn the game
of basketball, and I really look forward to providing this opportunity to kids who want
to take advantage of it.
Head basketball coach Tim Notke once said, "Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard."
This saying has been endorsed by many different professional athletes, and means that you
don't have to attend these expensive basketball camps or basketball leagues to be good at
the game of basketball.
If you continuously practice and use drills like the ones I'm going to show you on this
YouTube channel, you will continue to excel at the game of basketball and have fun doing it.
So I look forward to providing you with more content, and seeing you guys back here next
week for the second episode of Kyle's Camp.
