Video #2: Submitting a SAM Project - Duration: 8:00.

Hello this is Kathy Knight your instructor for CIS 110. In this video we

will go over the steps to submit a completed SAM project and discuss some

of the common issues that may arise while uploading your file for grading.

Examples in this video will be done with a Word 2016 document; However the same

basic steps will apply to any other Sam projects. Since I do not have a student

account, some of my screenshots may be slightly different than yours. If you are

confused about any of the differences, please contact me ASAP. For this

demonstration, I have completed the project steps for 10 B, and now I am ready

to submit the document for grading. When you go to the submission link, it's going

to be on the same project start page. After you click the assignment link,

notice on this first window it says you have three submissions allowed and still

have three remaining. Click start now. In the third section of this window, it's

named Assignment Submission. It says to select and upload your completed project

file, but to also confirm the file name matches the file name shown in italics

below. Once the file name is confirmed, then you're to click Submit to turn in

attempt number one for grading. So see again it tells you how many attempts

you've used how many you have left.

Also notice under the directions for section three, the table with two rows

and two columns. The first column is where you verify the correct file name

is being uploaded, and the second column is where you choose your file for uploading.

So I don't think I need to check my file name. I mean after all how

hard can it be to use the right file name. So I move on to the Choose Files button,

click it, navigate to the location where I stored my project file, which is still

in my downloads folder; I double click on the project file, and the name of the

file that I selected is now in the upload column. If you look right above

that table, we have an error message. It says that Sam is expecting a different file name for this assignment.

Now I take time to verify the file name and I realize I

have selected the project file with the number 1 at the end instead of the

number 2. In the upload file column, if your file name is longer than the box,

you cannot see all of it. If you hover your mouse over that it will display the full name.

So all you have to do to resolve this issue is to click Choose

Files again, navigate to the correct storage location, and double click on the

file name with the number 2 at the end. And now I will take time to verify the

file name and upload file name are the same. That has the number 2 at the end.

That has the number 2 at the end, and now I click Submit. If you have used the

correct file name, the correct format, and the file size is within acceptable range,

and no viruses are found, you will have another message displayed like this one.

with three green check marks. This also says your assignment has been submitted and directs you to go look at your results via the other reports page.

Now we will cover how to review detailed results in another video. For this

demonstration, here is my report for my submission, and I didn't get anything right!

What happened? If this happens to you, go back to your storage location, and

find the file where you completed the tasks. In this case after saving the file

with the number two at the end of the file name, I accidentally opened the

number one file, and saved all my work in it. Now how can you verify this? Use your

final figure at the end of your directions, and open the number one file

and the number two file, because number two is what we just submitted. When you open

the number 2 file, you can see nothing has been formatted. You open the number one file stored on your computer,

and you will see that it has been formatted. And you can compare this like

I said to your final figure to make sure. Okay so now what do I do? Well not to worry!

With your number one file open where you completed all your tasks, click

File and Save As, and very carefully change that number one to a number two, and check your

location to make sure you know where you're saving it and click Save.

Microsoft will throw up a message that says this computer Word 16 10 B Kathy

Knight number 2 already exists. Do you want to replace it? Do you want to save

with a different name, or do you want to merge the changes? We're just gonna replace the existing file,

and now it should be correct. Let's go back for another upload. Close our message window there.

Click the assignment name, and now if you look under Assignment Details, it says

three submissions are allowed and you have two remaining. Click start under the

Assignment Submission section, it tells you to select and upload the file,

confirm the filename, click Submit to turn in attempt number two for grading.

So let's the find document with the two on it, and submit it again and that will be

graded. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch this video tutorial, and

stay tuned for other videos coming soon. I hope this video has been helpful to

you, and I would very much appreciate your feedback. Please go to Blackboard >

Course Content > Videos folder, and click the feedback link for video number 2.

And again thank you so much!
