Transcribe a Video to Text for FREE - Duration: 7:29.

You know that your videos need to be transcribed but maybe you're at a point

where it cost a little bit too much to send them off, to have them transcribed.

I have got a tip for you. I'm going to show you exactly how to get

them transcribed for free. Stay tuned and I'm going to show you how.

I am Tricia Clements, Chief Fur Wrangler with MuttButs.com.

I'm a social media manager and consultant specializing in pet businesses and video.

In this video, we're going to talk about transcribing your videos.

My top five reasons for transcribing your videos, first, Facebook.

Over 85% of people that watch videos on Facebook do it with the sound off.

The second is accessibility. You want to make sure that people can read

your video especially for those that may be hearing impaired.

Transcribing your videos also makes them searchable which means it has a bump in SEO,

search engines can find your video. That comes to the fourth reason

that is traffic. If the search engines are picking up

your video, you're going to get more traffic coming to it.

Now also another thing is that you really want to have it so that people can watch it

anywhere, meaning that they don't need the sound on and have distractions for others

when they're watching your video. If you're looking to have your videos

transcribed, you really have basically 2 options.

You can send it off and have someone do it for you or you can DIY, do it yourself.

They both have different reasons you'd want to do it if you're sending them off.

Sometimes my videos, they could cost anywhere 4 four to 8 dollars is the average

and sometimes they can cost more if they're a bit longer.

You do have the option when you're sending them off.

I love using GoTranscript. That is a place you can get it transcribed

as low as 72 cents a minute and it's really great because when you upload

the video before you say, "Transcribe it." It will tell you how much it's going to cost

you before you agree to it. When they send you back your transcription,

you get a Word document. That's another great reason

to use that service. However, if you're looking to save some money

and you have the time to transcribe it yourself, the best thing to do is go ahead

and upload it to Youtube and have Youtube do an audio transcription.

I'm not talking about the transcription service that Youtube offers that you pay for.

This is something different where you upload it and YouTube will go in

and basically do an auto transcript for you. However, the one thing that you do have to know

about doing it this way is that if you're talking faster in the video

or if maybe you're having an accent, like sometimes I know I tend to,

it may not pick up on all of your words. You do have to really go back

and read and check over. I do recommend you do this

for any of your transcriptions to just a glance through it, make sure--

Primarily if you're sending it off it should be really good.

However, they may get some misspellings. They may misspell your name

or something like that or your company. Those are the main things you really

need to check on. If you're doing it here through YouTube,

then what you need to double check is a lot of times it doesn't understand

what you're saying. They're doing the transcription

based on your voice, the computer is. So you really need to go through it

every single line and make sure that it's correct.

That's why, even though this is a free service, it can be time consuming, based on how

the computer picks up your voice. Let's head over to YouTube

and I'm going to show you what you need to do to get YouTube to auto transcribe your video.

We're going to go ahead and log in to your YouTube account and select

over here to upload a video. You want to make sure that the video you upload

is as unlisted or private. Once your video has been uploaded

and processed, go ahead and click on it in your video manager to edit it.

You have numerous options. Up here at the top it says,

"Subtitles and closed captioning." This is where you want to go ahead

and do that and select, "English." You're just going to simply leave it

for a while, go take a break and then come back and you're going to have

where YouTube has done an auto transcription for you to choose, and this is that.

What I did was I did a shorter video. The longer the video is, of course,

the longer it takes to transcribe it. Go ahead back and click

"Subtitles and closed caption", and you'll notice it says "Published English automatic."

You'll click on that and here it is. It comes up over here

with all of what you are saying. Now, you will notice you can click "Edit"

over here and that lets you go ahead and edit that.

What you can do is go ahead and make any changes. That was a typo there, and then, of course,

here they have my name misspelled. You just go through and make

any of your changes through the entire transcription, and of course, like I said,

the longer your video is, the longer it takes to do.

What you want to do is go ahead and download it as an SRT file and just download that file

and then make sure you save that. You want to go ahead and overwrite

anything that's already published on there because you've made the changes.

What's previously published are the ones with the typos.

That's basically it. I do have a bonus tip for you today.

Once you've got your video transcribed and you download your transcription

from that, what you definitely want to do is when you post your video on Facebook

make sure that you upload the transcript to Facebook, because if you share the video

from YouTube someone will then go and look at it.

However, if you simply upload the video right to Facebook

and don't put the transcriptions, it's not going to pull that over.

You have a place there in Facebook to upload those transcriptions,

make sure you're doing that. I'm Tricia Clements with MuttButs.com.

InDesign How-To: Create Automatic Page Numbering (Video Tutorial) - Duration: 3:35.

Hi, I'm Erica Gamet with InDesign Secrets. In this video, I'm going to show you how

to add automatic page numbers to your InDesign document. You'll want to put the

numbers on a master page most likely, so that as you add pages to the document,

your page numbers are automatically there. Even if you aren't really using

master pages in the document for anything else, it's a great place for

page numbers. So I have a document with four pages open and I have the default

Master Page A in the document with that master applied to all the document pages.

Let's go up to Master Page A by double-clicking on it.

And now I'm going to draw out a text frame where I want my page numbers to be.

And in this example I'm gonna keep it pretty simple. I'm just gonna put the text

right in the middle of the frame. And I'm going to type in the fattest number that

I can think of. Let's actually style that a little bit so we can see that. I'm

gonna select everything, center it, and make it bigger so we can see it. But I

typed in eight-eight-eight and again I said I put in the fattest numbers. I want

to make sure the text frame is big enough to accommodate any page number

that might be put into it. So go ahead and style your text how you want it. And

once it's styled, then we're ready for the magic part of the numbering. We're

gonna go up to the Type menu, come down to Insert Special Character > Markers >

Current Page Number. It replaces our text with the page number that it's sitting

on. In this case it says "A" because it's sitting on Master Page A. If I double-click

on Page 1, it shows Page 1. Page 2, etc. Now you notice the page number

was missing on Page 3 and we'll get back to that in just a second. Back on

the master page, I can even add text before or after the auto page number. So

in this case, I'll add "Page-space-em dash-space." And here's how it looks on the

document pages. Sometimes you might have a page where you don't want the page

number at all and we can easily remove that. Go to the page where you don't want

the page number and hold down the Shift-Command (or Shift-Ctrl on a PC)

and click on the text frame. Now you can select that master page item and simply

delete it. One last trick…if you want to make sure that the page numbers always

show up, even if you have items that span the page like a full-bleed photo…or a

large yellow rectangle, you'll need to use layers. So I'm gonna open the Layers

panel. I'm going to create a new layer, which automatically sits on top of the

current layer. And I want to put my page numbers on that layer so that they're

always on top of anything else I might have in my document. So I'm going to go

back to the Pages panel, to my master page. I'm going to select that text frame,

jump back to my Layers panel, and I can see that I have this little proxy here,

that just indicates what I have selected on my page. I'm gonna grab that, drag that

up to the upper layer, and now I can see that that is sitting on that upper layer.

The page number is sitting on the upper layer. Now when we jump back to the Pages panel and

we jump back to page 3, my page number is now sitting on top of that yellow rectangle.

Well I certainly hope you found this tip helpful. Be sure to
