Now, in my life as a fangirl, I've been very fortunate in meeting celebrities.
But that's not always the case for the celebrities.
You see, despite how calm and cool and collected I look on camera, I'm actually a very awkward
person.
And if you put awkward me in front of a person I really admire, ooo it's gonna get awkward.
Here's all the times I've met a celebrity and it turned out to be very awkward.
Which is literally every time I've met a celebrity.
Every, EVERY time.
You guys already know about the time I met Team Starkid.
Yeah.
Awkward mess.
And like the thing is with Starkid too, I knew for, like, at least three weeks that
I was going to meet them.
In my bed, before bed every night, I would go through a script of what I would say to
them if I met them.
And then when I did meet them, I said this: "Hi Joey! :3
I love you!!<3" Yep.
I-mhmm.
Why did I tell Joey Richter I loved him?
I mhmmmm- It was just potatoes coming out of my mouth
and I didn't know what to say half the time and then I proceeded to ask Charlene Kaye
if she was Charlene Kaye.
Let's not talk about that, okay?
I actually really appreciate her as a musical artist and I'm sorry.
And then...VidCon.
Buh buh buhhhhhhh So on the first day of VidCon, I went to a
panel with Nathan Zed and Nerdy&Quirky.
After the panel, even though it was against the rules, the creators came down from the
panel to meet with us because there was only about 20 of us in the room so it wasn't that
big of deal.
So Nerdy&Quirky, I tried to act confident.
I tried to not be awkward.
And I go not for a hug but I went in for the handshake but she went in for the hug so then
what happened, *laughs* What happened is that we ended up doing something
like, I was like this and she was like this and we did this awkward-like, not even-moving
our elbows.
And then I was like "Can I take a selfie" but I'm five foot nine and she's short.
So our angle is super awkward and we actually had to redo it because we were both "We both
look like crap".
And then at the end of the whole awkward exchange I was like "Oh that's funny that we did a
business thing 'cause I've got business cards hahaha" and she's like "Oh can I have one?"
So, uh, Nerdy&Quirky owns my business card.
I'm sure she threw it out after VidCon, but she had it at one point in her hand.
She's lovely, okay?
She was great.
She dealt with me greatly.
I'm so sorry I'm so awkward.
Uh you know I really don't know how to explain this or segue into it, uh, but I've met with
Philip DeFranco and had a thirty minute conversation with him.
And let me tell you about that...
I actually wasn't that awkward in that one.
*laughs* Actually, that's a lie.
When he first showed up to the meeting, he was surrounded by like four bodyguards and
nervous me with my big backpack and bad hair I just went straight through the bodyguards
for a handshake.
I didn't even try to be like "Hey can I come in there" no I just went, I broke through
the bodyguard line.
I mean it was fine.
I had no malicious intent but...I shouldn't have done that.
*laughs* But yeah Philip DeFranco is super cool and
chill and a great human being.
And then after meeting Philip DeFranco, I really just had this surge of confidence or
maybe it was adrenaline from the nerves, but...yeah.
Either way, it saved my channel and it let me meet the next group of YouTubers with only
minor awkward interaction.
I am talking, of course, about the time I met the Animation Squad.
So the animation squad was basically just set up in this little plaza.
I was waiting in the plaza for them to show up 'cause I was a little early.
And I quickly realized my mistake.
I've said this many times, in fact I said it earlier in this video, I am not a small
person.
I was the only person above 5'6 in that line and I was probably the only person older than
15 in that line.
Which isn't a bad thing at all it just made me feel uncomfortable because I'm already
a very awkward human being and if you just make me the odd one out, HA!
Yeah it's just gonna get even more awkward.
In one of her videos, Jaiden said that she was terrible at small talk, but that is a
lie!
Jaiden was just so sweet, even when I was throwing "likes" in between every word that
I was telling her, she was just so sweet!
But again it was the same thing with Nerdy&Quirky where I am five foot nine.
They're short, okay, so it was again an awkward selfie.
But, you know, I appreciate it.
They were both great people.
Jaiden was so great at small talk and I won't accept her saying that she's terrible at small
talk because I was definitely more awkward than her in that moment.
And then that was the first time I met Alex.
And then we move on to James.
So remember how I said I was the only, like, not 13 year old in that line?
Yeah.
That happened with James though.
I don't know if I caught this on camera or not, but basically when I met theodd1sout,
uh, he looked down first and he had to look up and be like "Oh shit you're someone my
age" and I was like "I am not in your demographic am I?!?!"
But he was also cool and he's also a little bit taller than me so our selfie actually
turned out pretty okay!
And meeting Alex, even though a lot of my meeting celebrity awkwardness had lowkey settled
down, I at least wasn't telling random strangers that I loved them.
"I love you!!!:3" Why, why, why, why
I was still super super nervous to meet Alex.
So a lot of people on my video actually pointed out in the comments how nervous I looked......yes.
But also I was only on two hours of sleep because of how nervous I was.
So I was like a little bit out of it, a little bit disassociated, but it was cool.
He was chill, he dealt with it all in stride so, very happy, thank you Alex Clark for being
such a cool dude!
So my tips for you if you're about to meet your favorite celebrity and you don't want
to be awkward about it.
Just embrace the awkwardness.
I mean you have about five to thirty seconds to say some nice things to this person.
Just get it out there.
Say some nice stuff, don't worry about the actual interaction and the actual way you
say you like their stuff unless you tell them you love them then back that up, let's not
do that.
I don't know if that's an actual moral to the story.
I just wanted to share all of my awkward celebrity interactions because there's quite a lot.
So what are some awkward celebrity interactions that you have had?
Or what are some awkward celebrity interactions that you wish to have?
Batman, what do you think about these awkward celebrity encounters?
He thinks I'm awkward.
It's gonna haunt me for the rest of my days.
*end theme* Thanks for watching my video!
