My dream is to graduate with my bachelor's in construction management

and get a job with a commercial construction company.

I didn't go any further in my college career because I got married.

My husband was Special Operations in the military.

We moved I followed him, so it was just something that was just put off.

He was probably home a total of maybe 2-3 months out of a whole year.

He was just always gone.

The most challenging thing I've done in my life

was the decision to leave my husband.

It's scary. You have two children. You have no income.

I had to have a plan. I needed to figure out how I was going to take these two tiny people

and going and raising them on my own.

My father really pushed and reminded me all my life how important it was to get a degree.

I was missing one credit to get my A.S. in construction management.

And he would remind me every day "Get that last credit."

And I finally did and when I did it felt amazing and

then I realized, and he reminded me, you can do more.

Go get a bachelor's and you can do great things with it.

My motivation to go back to college was my kids.

I wanted to show them that no matter what happens in life, you can still do things.

Ultimately i will have a career in building foundations for offices, hotels, and schools and

hopefully also building a foundation for my children.

I want to be able to provide for my kids and i also want to teach them

that in order to provide you're going to have to get a college degree and

go to school and study and work hard for it.

I've applied for everything that I could that I qualified for because I need the help.

Even if you get a grant or scholarship for a hundred dollars or 300.

That's a hundred dollars you're not taking out of your bank account for the groceries you're going to buy for your kids

or stress about not being able to buy the book for the class in time.

Just financial burden in itself is

lifted when you see that there is an opportunity and there's people out there that are willing to help you

go and finish your goals and get further in life.

To the foundation I thank them.

They're giving not only me an opportunity. They're giving me and my family a future.

They're supporting something so i can teach my kids

and support my children and just give them

an opportunity to eventually go to college and get a degree.

I played a lot of baseball when I was younger.

and in me playing baseball

I injured myself, I had a seizure

and in me having a seizure and another injury.

I went to a clinic. I got to see how

physical therapists work with the patient

help them rehab and then let them get

back onto the field or back to wherever

they're going.

My dream job is for me to be a physical therapist and to

either own my own clinic or to work

with a team.

Speaking to a couple people one person told me to go and check on Veterans.

Go and put a hand there, go see if you can help out like that.

And to me I never really saw that as an option

and then him talking to me and him being a Veteran,

said you know what these people need help too

and not just that but they like to be able to actually walk back to their families

Not be on wheelchairs, not be on crutches and

he always told me after that he was

like putting your hand in that could

actually help out the community, help out with

these Veterans to let them know

they have a life.

My dad's pastor, he's a bus driver too and

My mom's a stay at home mom.

I have two sisters. One's older, she's 22 right now.

She's the sicker one out of of the family.

She a couple of sicknesses.

Fibromuscular dysplasia and Ehlers-Danlos.

From what we've heard it's rare to have one and

it's more rare to have two.

She's already ruptured her spleen, has had a heart attack.

Has had open-heart surgery and that's just like the crest of it.

It's been hard financially for us to get our feet grounded sometimes.

Got to the point where we were down one car and it was like

my sister would have an appointment one direction, my little sister has school

another direction then I would have to get driven over here to come to school

and then my dad will have to go to work so there was days we were up at four in the morning, starting the route.

Determination, confidence, whatever that falls.

You can be as confident

as you want until you hit so many walls.

After that you have to put your faith into something else and for us it was most definitely God.

Most definitely being around people in prayer and then

most definitely believing that He will pull us out of that situation.

I have relied on the generosity of your hearts

to get me through these situations, so for

the people who are listening just to let

them know that

you have kids and you probably won't see them but you have

kids who get so excited to accept their

scholarships or anything like that and to

be able to, not only pay for classes

but then get books, which is something amazing that's the one thing I get

excited about, like not only do I get classes I get to get books too.

Your help, your generosity, your hand in

my life is something I will never

forget and I know for the kids who do

get these scholarships, they will never forget

the hands to helped them out.
