Waching daily Feb 14 2017

Hi you're watching AdoramaTV,

in this episode we're going to work

in a tiny space.

Hi everybody welcome to another episode

of Exploring Photography right here on

AdoramaTV I'm Mark Wallace and I'm

joined by Fanny Belladonna she was one

of the most spectacular models in all

of Paris, really in all of the world and

so we're going to be shooting in a tiny,

tiny space. This is a hotel room here we

have just a little nook, I'm converting

it into a studio so Fanny any of you go

right back here by the window, I'm going

to show you, sort of,

what we're working with

and how we're converting this into a

working studio. So let's get started.

I'm going to show you around using my new

Karma Grip here and a wide angle lens on

my GoPro HERO5 so Fanny is back

here against this window and what we've

done is we've just have pulled the blinds

shut to give us a background and I'm

using a Profoto Softbox on a B2

head and this is really awesome because

the B2 is so small you can take it just

about anywhere. It's very, very portable so I've got

that, and then we're shooting into

Lightroom and so that allows us to see

exactly what we're doing as we go,

and of course I'm using my

Leica M Type 240,

and that's about it. Now that you've

seen how small this space is let me show

you what I'm doing with the light, to try

to make it look a little bit larger.

So back here,

Fanny's against this, this curtain and

I've put the Softbox to the side going

to get nice sidelight to give us some

contrast and because I can't really move

the light very much,

Fanny is actually going to move to the

light. She is a professional model

and knows how to pose and so she's going to

be working around and playing in this

light and I'll be shooting right here

I'm not doing that right now

because I'd block your view,

and what we'll also do is we're going to

shoot really tight, so we get some nice

tight head-shots, and then we're going to

shoot some, some vertical shots to see if

we can get a little bit of shape, we'll

shoot some black and white, we'll shoot

some color and then maybe we'll take the

Softbox off and shoot with hard light as

well and so that gives us a lot of

options in a small space; hard light, soft

light, really tight horizontal shots,

a little bit larger vertical shots,

color and black and white

all in this tiny space.

So that's a lot of stuff that we need to do,

so we're going to start shooting

right now!

Let me show you one of the things

we're doing here because they're just

really aren't a lot of options for this

tiny space, but we can do is control the

contrast of the light and so what we've

done is, we've played a little bit with the

light. I've added a grid to control that

light and what I've noticed is when I move

this back a little way, so closer to this

curtain, I can get some contrast on the

ripples of the curtain and by changing

how Fanny is looking at the light

we can either get a more contrasting

portrait or something that is really sort of

nice and soft, so not only have I been

playing with the direction of light

I've been playing with the intensity of

light, so we were shooting at f8 but then I

took that light power way down and then

I started shooting some stuff around

about f1.8 so we get really nice shallow

depth of field, so her hair is going to

start to fall out of focus, but her eyes

are going to be nice and sharp, just to

get a lot of options. We don't have a lot of

options in this consideration of the

space, but again we have a lot of options

in hard light, soft light, depth of field

and framing so that's what we're

concentrating on.

Alright, well we've done our photo shoot

what I'm going to do now is we're going to

throw all that stuff into Lightroom.

We're going to choose one or two winners.

I'll do some editing and I'll show you the

results right now.

Let's take a quick

look at the results of our tiny space

photo shoot, we were able to do the things

that we wanted to do, in other words we

shot horizontals and verticals,

tight shots, black and white photos,

all of those things that we said were important.

It was sort of difficult when I look through

all of these images to choose just a few

to retouch but I was able to do it, so

let's take a look really quickly at a

few images and we're not going to go

through all of the steps I used to

retouch them, but I'm going to tell you about

some of the secrets that I used when I

was re- touching them.

We're going to start by looking at these

two images. These were shot with no

Softbox, unfortunately in the video I

don't show myself shooting these but it is the

exact same setup, except no Softbox.

I wanted a really high contrast, grungy

look and I got it. Now the thing with

these images, if I go to the develop

module, was that her shirt was the same

luminosity as her face and so there was

no central focal point to these images

and so you can see here when I go to my

adjustment brush in the develop module,

I can hover over this so you can see that

I have painted over her shirt and that

adjustment that I used was to take the

exposure down by a little bit more than

half a stop, now if I turn that off you can

see that the shirt is about the same

luminosity as her face that means it's

competing with her face, I don't want

that, so the adjustment brush allows me

to fix that issue, so I did that with

both of these images. I think the results

turned out pretty well.

Alright, let's talk about another choice

that I made and that was to, look, take

these and make them look like they were

shot with Tri-x black and white film,

so that is something from days past.

The key to that was a

high contrast, black and white

image but the other thing that

I needed to do was

add some grain to these images.

The grain is what people love about

Tri-x film because it makes everything just

look sort of dreamy, now to do that in

Lightroom it's really simple you just

hop over to the develop module and then

go down to the effects panel in the very

bottom and then you just need to take

the grain and then turn it up so I used

a setting of about 51 for the grain

the size is 38, the reference about 50.

Now if I wanted this to look like a high ASA

grain then I would use a larger size,

a larger roughness, a lower ASA grain

I would use a smaller size and a smaller

roughness. If you don't know what that is, it

doesn't really matter just move those

sliders around until you get something

that looks pretty cool. I love this look

So it feels sort of that throwback look.

The other thing I did to these color

images is make some different choices

for images that were almost identical, so

this image here because of the way the

light is falling and the way she's

posing, I didn't do a lot of retouching

but you can see she has sort of a dark

circle under her eye,

I thought it was fine in this image,

however in another image

this one right here,

same exact lighting, set up the

same exact adjustments in Lightroom you

can see that we really, this really draws

some attention to her face and it

doesn't look very flattering

so on this image I decided to throw that

into Photoshop and then use the healing

brush to remove that dark circle, so on

one image I thought the dark circle was

fine another image I decided to remove

it because it was just too noticeable.

Speaking of retouching and doing sort of

something over the top, I decided to do

that as well so notice this background

color if I go to this next image,

it's a totally different color even though we

shot in the same place and you can see

that I did a lot of retouching on her

face, I did that using a technique called

Frequency Separation Retouching in

Photoshop, it's an advanced technique

that would take us a long time to

explain but I just wanted to point out

that in a small space like this if you

shoot some good foundation images you

have a lot to work with and you can do a

lot of different things and get a lot of

different looks. So if you look at all

these images that we shot we got some

cool stuff in one space in a very short

amount of time.

Valentine's Day Special: Putting YOU back in YouTube - Duration: 2:28.

"It's not you, it's me"

What a load of crap!

For this Valentine's Day Video I wanted to talk you about the other person in your YouTube

relationship.

Guess what - it's not about you!

It's about them.

Who is this mysterious other person?

It's not your co host.

It's not your in-person audience.

It's the one person who just clicked on your video or pushed the play button.

Your viewer!

Lucky for you - my friend Dane Golden and TubeBuddy just released a study about this

titled "harnessing the power of YOU in YouTube."

It's perfect for those of you non-romantic types who need to see the data.

Today I'm gonna go over the highlights from his study - which reveals the one word that

will double your channel growth.

It's Valentine's day - you should be sending sweet nothings and eating chocolate hearts

- so I'm gonna make this a quick video.

Dane set out to see how much emphasis the creator had on the viewer - by measuring how

often they said "you" in the first 30 seconds.

The idea is that if a creator addresses the audience more, then the video is probably

pretty oriented towards the viewer.

But if the video doesn't have the word "you" in the first 30 seconds, then the viewer is

probably being treated more like an outsider observing the action.

That's common on television, and treating YouTube like TV is a common mistake.

TV and YouTube are two different animals. What works on one does not necessarily lead to success on the other.

Here's two frames to demonstrate.

Video one shows a typical corporate video where the person on screen is talking to an

interviewer or something like that.

And Video Two shows a successful YouTuber - Tim Schmoyer talking directly to his viewer.

Who do you think gets more views?

So Dane found that (with limits) saying You more often in the first 30 seconds lead to

more Views, more Likes and More viewer engagement.

And that more is anywhere from 80% more to 180% more.

So let's break that down into business terms: If you create a video to sell a product and

you treat it like a TV commercial, maybe you'll sell 100 units.

But if you address the audience, you'll sell 180 to 280 units.

You do the math (or at least check my math.)

Same thing with client leads, or reach to build authority.

Talk to your audience and they will enjoy your video more - resulting in more views,

likes, sales, leads, reach, etc.

That's it.

Are YOU talking directly to YOUR audience?

Are YOU gonna start?

What are YOU doing for Valentine's day?

Let me know in the comments down below.

Thank YOU for watching!

The New Jersey pension crisis | IN 60 SECONDS - Duration: 1:21.

New Jersey has a severe pension crisis.

The unfunded liabilities for pensions is

95 billion dollars. The entire New Jersey

state budget is 35 billion dollars. New

Jersey does not have the money to pay

for these pensions. How did New Jersey get

into this situation?

The simple answer is that it is a direct

result of the enormous political power

of the New Jersey Education Association,

the state's largest teachers union. Over

the course of the last 20 years,

NJEA has spent over 800 million dollars

on its various political tools. With that

kind of money,

NJEA got what it wanted on pensions.

Recently NJEA sought to enshrine this

bankrupt system in the state

constitution. Senate President Steve

Sweeney stood up to NJEA. NJEA then

exacted revenge by vowing to support

senator Sweeney's opponent in the

Democratic gubernatorial primary and

forcing Sweeney to withdraw from the

race. Now NJEA has a politician who will

do its bidding,

thus encapsulating the New Jersey pension crisis.

I'd like to know what you think about

New Jersey's pension crisis.

Let us know in the comments section, and

also let us know what other topics you

want AEI scholars to cover in 60 seconds.

Suffering & Living The Extraordinary Life - Duration: 10:01.

are you suffering from inner wounds

stay tuned

this is Damon Cart from NLP Gym

suffering and living the extraordinary

life if you haven't already please click

subscribe to this YouTube channel

so you can get these videos on a regular basis

with the exception of very few people

most of us are walking around with

plenty of inner wounds and in a lot of ways

inner wounds can be like the herpes

virus the one with cold sores on the

face not the genital ones

where's your mind anyway these inner

wounds can stay dormant for a long time

and one day you endure some heavy stress

or you endure some sort of hardship and

suddenly you're very aware that

something other than just what other

than what just happened

the initial stress or whatever hardship

is is coming up and it's usually the

form of a deep sadness or pain and it's

coming from within a lot of times you

can get the sense that it's something

that's been there for a long time and

it's very old throughout our childhood

we under many emotional wounds and a lot

of them heal and you don't have to have

been abused or traumatized as a child to

have to have these things happen it's

just the nature of growing up and

getting older and you and your things

that you don't like and then you

overcome them and then some of them stay

as wounds and as we get older we learn

how to manage that pain we learn how to

manage that suffering and that can come

from being just a routine are creating a

supportive environment for yourself or

entering into a supportive environment

that you build supported in

and maybe even creating a family getting

a stable job a lot of times that manages

the symptoms of the words so that you

don't really experience in them and like

I was saying it's kind of like there is

a lie dormant and nothing's being shaken

up so you don't really know that they're

even there

however say you change careers move

across the country you get into a new

relationship and suddenly you feel this

thing come up and it's painful or it

said and you don't know what's happening

and a lot of times you're your left

bewildered because you don't know what's

happening and it doesn't make sense

because it's not really matching up with

what's happening around you there's no

reason why necessarily just because you

live somewhere else you change careers

that you should be experiencing this and

that is a good indication that this is

one of those inner wounds that hasn't

been dealt with because when you shake

things up or you change something now

there's some exposure on this was

something about what you've done that

change has now brought this thing to the

surface

often when this would happen to me I

would get really angry because I do a

lot of work on myself i do a lot of NLP

I do a lot of yoga are you meditating

and I thought I yield all mine wounds

yes that's kind of silly to think about

now because we don't know all the wounds

that we have the truth is is that a lot

of these really healthy practices don't

always heal the wound

sometimes they just manage the symptoms

really well and there's nothing wrong

with that because sometimes it's not

necessary to try to go and find the

exact wound and he lit it can be

necessary but sometimes it's not and

that's what good healthy practices do

that help you manage that stuff so you

don't suffer and in that case you don't

always feel what's wrong and in medicine

works the same way sometimes you're just

managing symptoms and you're not

actually healing what's wrong with your

body knows it's not even s

sary to do that if you have that inner

suffering if you feel that ever know

that it is most likely it would be kind

of what I'm talking about

and the other thing to know is that you

can do something about it

there you don't have to just sit there

and take it there is definitely

something that you can do to heal that

wound or at least manage the symptoms

emotional wounds that come from your

childhood often surface in your

adulthood as limitations they are

self-imposed limitations and limiting

beliefs but here's the thing if you

never tests those boundaries and you

don't want to test those boundaries that

woman never come up and never it might

never be a problem and some people live

that way there's nothing wrong with that

you know they're they're happy in their

routines in a town that they live in and

the way that they're living never tests

those boundaries

that's ok just continue to live life the

way that you do you don't have two tests

those boundaries specifically to bring

up a wound healing

however you may be one of those people

who does like to test those boundaries

you like to test your limitations you

like to get out of your comfort zone and

get out there and see what's possible

and what if you're one of those people

very likely you encounter wounds a lot

and if you continue to be that way more

than likely you encounter those wounds

you deal with them in a healthy way and

you keep going that's the only way we

can really keep going in that journey is

to deal with the wound as they come up

and that could be healing them or it

could be managing the pain and just keep

going and this is what it means to live

an extraordinary life and this even just

saying that gets me so excited because

extraordinary people there will be just

like everyone else

the difference is they never let their

wounds stop them they never let their

suffering stop them doesn't mean that

they ignored because the ignoring you're

probably not going anywhere you want to

spend your tires for indefinitely

extraordinary people are wounded like

everyone else

we test those limitations we test the

boundaries know if the woman alone comes

up we deal with it whatever way we need

to deal with it and we keep moving in

the self-help and personal development

field i often encountered people and I'm

one of them

I'm guilty of this too I've often

encounter people who believe that they

have to go and heal all the wounds

before they can move on with our lives

if you're one of those people stop it

right now what you're doing is going on

a witch hunt and it's not going to serve

you because the chances are you probably

have more wound than you even realize

and this idea that you need to go and

steal all of them especially if they're

not currently limiting you and whatever

it is you want to do

you're just going down a never ending of

this and another just infinite you can

just sink deeper and deeper today it's a

witch hunt

don't do it part of healing and her

wound is having the intent and desire to

move beyond it because it's getting in

the way of something you want so is that

wanting something something you want to

achieve some sort of potential you want

to actualize that limitation comes up

which is most likely from an inner

wounds that motivation and drive to heal

that wound is to get to the other side

and that's the best time to deal with

the room and heal it or manage the

suffering for that's coming from it

don't bother trying to go in deep inside

and and uncover all your hidden wounds

and try to kill them because that's just

going to put you in suspension and

you're not gonna be getting on with your

life and you're not going to go anywhere

that way

don't worry because if you want to heal

those wounds then just be really

ambitious and really go after whatever

it is that you want because plenty of

those women will start coming up plenty

of those limitations will surface and

then you can deal with them then again i

only recommend doing that if there's

something you really want to go for what

you want and along the way heal those

wounds

they come up otherwise just leave those

wounds alone

what do you do then when you encounter

one of these wounds are one of these

limitations

that's where energy of the practice is

wonderful

there's lots of techniques lots of

processes for dealing with every kind of

woman that you could think of and

sometimes we can heal our own inner

wounds using an NLP sometimes though it's

a little too hard to get at and maybe

too deep or just maybe you and in there

in some way that it's hard for me to

really see and be very honest and

objective and when that happened it it's

a good idea to reach out to a coach or

even a therapist check out our website
