He Wasn't Even Recognizable

On a dirt road next to the village of Udaipur in Northern India, a strange looking creature

was found wandering around, looking distressed.

He was discovered by Animal Aid Unlimited, an animal rescue organization, when a concern

citizen posted a picture of the creature on Facebook.

The team knew that they had to take action and get to the poor animal as quickly as possible.

The picture of the creature was very disturbing, as no one was able to figure out exactly what

it was, and if it was supposed to look like that at all.

A rescue team from Animal Aid Unlimited knew it had no time to lose, and set out to find

this poor creature in need of help.

They didn't know how much time they would have to locate it.

When the rescue team arrived, the found the creature wandering around alone.

As they cautiously approached him, the team were shocked to find out that this strange

looking animal was actually a dog!

His face had been swollen beyond recognition making both sides of his head disproportional.

Despite the dog's terrible condition, his demeanor was actually quite friendly, and

he became curious about the rescuers.

Although for the first minute or so, the dog was understandably wary, he realized rather

quickly that the team was there to help him, and he approached them without fear and with

his tail wagging happily.

Once they were able to get a good enough look at the dog's face, they understood that

his condition was critical, and that he needed medical attention as quickly as possible.

Although the dog was seemingly friendly, the rescuers knew that it was still a stray dog

with in poor condition, so they had to figure out a way to gently coax him to go with them

to the rescue center.

They begin giving him treats and talking to him soothingly. The team knew that they only

had one chance to get the dog, because if he took off for the nearby woods, there would

be no chance of ever catching him.

After a few minutes of giving the stray dog treats and letting him get comfortable enough

with them, the rescuers were able to attempt their plan to get the dog in their truck.

While one rescuer distracted the dog with some food, the other one carefully snuck up

behind him and gently slipped a net around the dog.

With a sigh of relief, the rescuers had him, and the dog was one step closer to getting

medical care.

With the dog safely in the net, the rescuers were able to scoop him up in a big basket,

and carry him over to their truck.

Although this dog was a bit tricky, Animal Aid Unlimited has been together since 2002,

working to rescue animals of every kind who need help.

So they were confident that they could help this poor dog as well, even though he was

in really bad condition when they got to him.

Once the rescuers got the dog to their animal sanctuary, they brought him straight in for

a medical examination to see why his face was so swollen and deformed.

After a careful examination by the vets at the sanctuary, they discovered that the dog

was ailed by an enormous abscess on the side of his face.

They confirmed this by attempting to puncture it with a needle and seeing if there was something

to drain.

After confirming the abscess on the poor dog's face, the vets knew that they had to get to

work straight away.

They gave the dog some sedative to put him out during the procedure and shaved the entire

side of his face that was swollen.

They then began the surgery to open and drain the abscess and then clean and disinfect the

wound it left.

The vets could not believe the size of the abscess on the dog's face, and wondered

how he was getting along with it for so long.

After opening and draining the abscess, the vets realized that the enormous cavity it

left would have to be taken care of as well.

Even though they drained as much of it as they could, the team made another small incision

into the dog's face and inserted a small drainage pipe into the hole, so that it could

continue draining, even after the surgery was complete and the pup was stitched back

up.

The surgery was a great success, and within a few hours, the dog started to wake up from

his ordeal.

While very groggy and quite confused at what had just happened to him, the dog's demeanor

was calm and content.

Despite the shaved area and the small bit of swelling around the incision, the dog woke

up with an entirely unrecognizable face.

The team could finally see his jawline properly, and could understand how he was supposed to

look.

After only two short weeks, the dog had made a full recovery from his surgery.

The swelling from the incision was down, all of his facial fur had grown back, and he finally

had the facial shape of a happy and healthy dog.

The rescue team posted a video to Youtube to show how well the dog recovered and how

well he was doing running around with the other animals at the sanctuary.

Not only was the dog able to start socializing with other dogs in the sanctuary, but he began

to love humans even more.

He was finally able to see that people were there to help him, not to hurt him.

After discovering this, he became one of the most friendly pups in the sanctuary, getting

cuddles from everyone he met.

The pup is now happier than ever, enjoying his new life living in the animal sanctuary.

He loves the other animals and loves all of the staff.

This dog has gone through a complete transformation from when he was found wandering the streets

suffering with a swollen abscess that he would have died from, to running around happily

with his new friends at the animal sanctuary.

This story definitely has a happy ending.

Serbian Hottest Spots: Kalemegdan Fortress In Belgrade (Video) 2018 Part 1 - Duration: 12:56.

Hi guys!

Welcome back to Archaeology And Travel With Zorica!

Today I'm taking you to Kalemegdan Fortress in Belgrade.

This is the first part of the video I am going to share with you and the next one is coming

soon.

Please stay tuned because you are going to like it!

On the hill, next to the confluence of two rivers, Sava and Danube, a small but significant

settlement aroused during prehistory.

The earliest attested evidence of inhabitation dates back in Neolithic period.

Next to the so called fountain of Mehmed Pasha Sokolovic, in October 2017, Serbian archaeologists

have discovered a Neolithic settlement which dates back in 4800 to 3500 BC.

The remains of mollusks are implying that they were included into the diet of Neolithic

people, as well as the abundance of fishes hunted in Sava and Danube.

The Neolithic settlement in Kalemegdan fortress included the rectangular houses made of poles,

wattle and mud applied to the wattle.

The floors of the houses were made of well beaten mud and then colored, as well as the

walls.

The cooking was carried out on the hearths in the houses.

Archaeologists have discovered a hand made pottery shreds around the hearths.

Also, they have discovered two urns from the Bronze Age period which proves that life didn't

ceased from this area after Vinca culture experienced the break down under the influence

of Salkuca-Krivodol culture.

After unsuccessful campaign on Delphi in 279 BC, Celts have invaded this area and settled

down on territory of Serbia, coming into a contact with Autariati and Illyrian tribes.

The fact that Celts did not settled down on the territory of Kalemegdan fortress but on

Karaburma region, made us start thinking that they were in some kind of symbiosis with Illyric

tribes and Autariati.

I will cover these tribes in depth in one of the future videos.

The Roman influence on Kalemegdan fortress is easily noticeable in northeastern part

of Upper Town, next to the so called Mehmed Pasha Sokolovic fountain.

Around 10 meters long Roman wall has been excavated in 2017.

It took few weeks to excavators to clean up 1000 cubic meters of earth to uncover the

wall.

After successful reconstruction and restoration, the wall is exhibited next to the fountain.

Probably between 6 to 11 AD, Rome experienced a massive attack of barbarian tribes which

led them to start thinking about system of fortifications to keep those Barbarians out

of Roman Empire.

The first Roman military camp Singidunum dates back at the same time.

As the time progressed, Singidunum grown it's importance as a stronghold against the barbarian

tribes and inevitably it caused Rome to station one of the legions there.

It was so called 4th Legion Flaviae.

Also, it was known as the Lucky one.

And how do we know about it?

Well, it was well known that Roman legions carried out a building activity across the

Empire and to prove that they used stamp marks with legion name on the bricks.

Even though the first Roman fort in Singidunum was a mere a wooden palisade, the next phase

of defence system was a war machine, so called castrum.

4 towered fort walls granted security to the inhabitants and kept barbarian tribes off

the Roman Empire.

In the 2nd century AD, Singidunum got a status of municipium.

It was probably during the reign of Emperor Hadrian.

In the 3rd century AD, Singidunum was inaugurated into a colony.

After the division of Roman Empire in 395 AD, Singidunum saw many conflicts and turbulences

in the years to come.

It was a Byzantine Emperor Justinian I who put efforts to resurrect Singidunum from the

ashes.

Due to the multiple barbarian attacks, he was forced to transfer the capital from Byzantium

to Iustiniana Prima on Mt Jelica next to the town Cacak.

And that decision made this region prominent.

The first attested mention of Beligrad, is tied to a letter sent by pope John the 8th

to Bulgarian prince Boris.

It was dated in 16th of April 878 AD.

From 9th to 16th century AD, Singidunum saw many conflicts and changed many masters.

During the Ottoman rule over Serbia, Belgrade has a prominent role as a basis for campaigns

against Europe.

From that time we have two monuments: fountain of Mehmed Pasha Sokolovic and Turbeh (a tomb)

of Damad Ali Pasha.

Later history of Kalemegdan fortress saw conflicts between Austro-Hungarians, Ottomans and Serbians.

The modern history of Kalemegdan fortress commemorates a date of 1946 when Kalemegdan

fortress ended up on the list of monuments cultural heritage of Serbia.

ANOREXIA EATING DISORDER - MY STORY | Video by Psych-Minded - Duration: 7:24.

So today I'm going to talk about my eating disorder.

I touched on this in my video on my anxiety and depression, but I wanted to give a full

story on what my anorexia journey was like.

[Chill Music]

I was diagnosed with Anorexia about 13 years ago.

I've been behavior-free for years.

I have not had any issues with obsessions or habits or anything unhealthy or disordered

for a very long time and I'm very blessed for that -- very lucky.

It did take a long time to get there.

I started having problems when I was 10 or 11.

And I had one of those classic stories -- I don't even know if they do this anymore, but

it was traumatizing.

So I remember in 5th grade, they corralled us like animals into the gymnasium and weighed

each of us one by one.

And obviously, they didn't announce what you weighed, but they told you or you knew and

it was just kind of humiliating.

Because then, everyone was talking about it and you kind of eventually found out what

people weighed and it was like, "oh, so-and-so is the fattest person in the class."

You know what I mean?

It's like it's literally out of a South Park episode.

It was like, why are they even doing this?

And so that was kind of like when I started to really have this awful awareness of my

weight.

And I eventually grew to hate myself.

So my issues got progressively worse.

I started feeling so bad about myself and my self-esteem got so low -- and I hated myself

with such an immense passion, that I was able to starve myself.

It wasn't something that happened overnight.

It wasn't like all of a sudden I just stopped eating.

For me, I had a certain, normal amount of food that I ate and then over time, it just

became less and less and less until it was basically nothing.

It started out with good intentions -- and this is something that I think a lot of women

or even men, say.

It started out with like, "yeah, I wanted to feel better about myself."

And to me, it started with running.

And I felt really good and I was about to go into middle school so I wanted just like

a fresh start, so I started taking care of myself.

And then at a certain point, it sort of tipped into these unhealthy behaviors.

It got to a point where there was not a whole lot of turning back.

I was getting very obsessive.

I would do millions of crunches a day.

I mean, just ridiculous amounts of exercise; unhealthy things.

Counting every single calorie and I felt horrible.

This whole time, I was not happy.

I didn't even care about the weight loss because it was like I was just so obsessed and disordered.

Looking back, it was one of those things that I felt like I couldn't control.

I felt like I was being -- almost possessed by some sort of alternate force.

And that's when it got really scary.

Because it went from this is me trying to be healthy and feel good about myself and

like, have energy, to like, oh my gosh -- I feel terrible.

I know I'm not getting nutrients.

I know I need to eat more, but I can't.

It was like I couldn't start eating.

And so that's the whole, you know, the whole problem with it -- you absolutely need food

to survive.

And so it's a slow death, it's a slow suicide.

It breaks my heart looking back.

I eventually got help.

I started going to outpatient therapy when I was 12.

Right about the time I turned 13, even though I was in therapy -- I was trying to get better,

I was trying to get help; I just started backsliding.

It was like 9 months or so that I was just -- basically my parents were just waiting

to take me to the hospital.

I was so sick.

I was so messed up.

And nothing seemed to be working.

Eventually my therapist said, "You're not getting better.

You obviously don't want to help yourself."

Which I didn't, let's be honest.

And I was really sick at that point and so my therapist was like, "I'm sending you away

-- I'm going to send you away to an inpatient clinic."

And for me, that was the wake-up call.

And I think inpatient centers can be really helpful if that's what you need.

Even if that's where you're at right now, that means you're getting help -- that means

you're doing what you need to for yourself.

For me at that moment, though, it was like -- I was 13.

I could not bare the thought of being away from my mom -- my school.

Knowing what I was going to lose, at that point, it was like, "Okay.

I'll do whatever you want me to do."

And I never got back to that point where I was that bad.

I had bad days after that, but it was pretty much -- the trajectory was straight up.

There was no going back after that for me.

I was like, okay.

I have gotten this huge wake-up call -- I could have everything taken away from me.

I already felt like the eating disorder had taken enough.

And I had been sick for years.

And I was like, enough is enough.

So for me the wake-up call worked.

And I had issues later in life, but again, like I said, it never got to that point again.

But really, my advice for anyone going through this right now, whether it's bulimia or anorexia

or a combination of both or binge-eating disorder or eating-disorder otherwise not specified.

I mean, there's so many variations of food struggles.

Honestly, I say it so much on my channel, but like, therapy was the best thing for me

because talking about those issues -- for me, it was guilt.

Like, guilt was -- and shame, was the root of my eating disorder.

And so once I got to the root of those problems, I didn't feel the need to punish myself anymore.

I didn't feel the need to starve myself and was able to build a really healthy relationship

with myself again.

And that's been such a beautiful gift.

Talking to a professional -- someone who is professionally versed in eating disorders

because they are such a gnarley disorder.

They can be so hard to manage.

So I really encourage you to find the absolute best person you can.

And for me, also, a booked called Intuitive Eating really, really helped.

There are so many myths and distorted perceptions around food that contribute to eating disorders.

And for me, this was like, the catalyst to good nutrition.

It was like, getting rid of the good food/bad food police -- all of those like, little,

you know, things that surround eating disorders.

All of that -- so much better.

I'll put a link in the description because wow.

It really did change my life.

And if you guys have any questions or you want to know more about my experience with

eating disorders, please ask me.

I have definitely struggled in the opposite.

There have been times where I felt like I couldn't stop eating and I struggled with

that for a couple years, too.

I think it kind of goes in a lot of different directions.

I think when you have an eating disorder you can struggle on a lot of different ends of

the spectrum.

And I just want you guys to know that I'm here as a resource, as a friend.

If you want to talk, you can email me -- you can message me.

So if you enjoyed this video please give it a thumbs up.

And if you haven't yet please subscribe.

And if you have any ideas for a video that you would like to see or any questions that

you have for me, please leave a comment below and I will see you guys next time.

Bye!
