So you want to translate your tags,

titles, and descriptions to better serve

your international audience... let's do this!

Hello folks,

welcome back to vidIQ, my name is Rob.

If this is your first time here, we are

the YouTube tool and channel that aims to

help you get more views in less time, but

before we jump into today's vidIQ

tool, I want to ask you a pop trivia

analytical question: where does the

majority of your non-english speaking

audience come from? If you don't know the

answer to that let me show you now by

jumping into some YouTube analytics. Here

we are then on the analytical page of

YouTube. We've got the views up for vidIQ

over the last 28 days. If I scroll

towards the bottom we get a list of the

most popular videos over that time frame

but what you can do here is click on the

geography button and that switches it

from those popular videos to most

popular country source. So we can see

here that the United States brings in

the bulk of views from one country but

India is a significant second at 10

percent here, so there may be an

opportunity here to optimize our content

for the Indian market. You can also look

at this in a different method if you

click on the more button and go to video

info language you'll get a different

breakdown. Unfortunately it gives a lot

of information here as unspecified

language but Russia here is third on the

list - maybe we want to optimize our

videos for that country as well. If I

click on unspecified language it will

show me, by country, where all of our

sources are so again India is coming in

at a healthy second. So do we need to

translate some of our video tags titles

and descriptions for that market?

Possibly. Can we do that? Let's find out.

Any self-respecting youtuber is going to

be very familiar with this page, we've

got a video ready to go live on our

channel. It's all about how to get 100

subscribers on your YouTube channel in

2018 and hopefully we've done a good job

of optimizing it for our

english-speaking audience with a title,

description and tags. The

vidIQ SEO score seems to think so. This

is a free tool from vidIQ but we're not

focusing on that today. What we're gonna

look at is whether or not we can

translate these three points of

metadata into a new language and looking

at our analytics as we've seen a

significant portion of our audience

comes from India. What language is spoken

in India? Well we've done a very quick

search on Google to try and get some

information on that. Hindi seems to be

the most popular language and of course

there may be variations but for test

purposes we're going to use Hindi

here and for whatever country you see as

a significant amount of your audience

you will have to check the official

languages or whatever languages are used.

Now then on to the translation tab. To go

through the process of translating your

text from English to a another language

you would click on select language, then

add new language, select language again

and type in your language to translate

to, in this case we're going to do Hindi,

and then add language. At this point if

you were on your own you'd maybe have to

go to Google Translate and do a lot of

copying and pasting to get the text that

you want. But with the vidIQ chrome

extension installed, as you can see, right

here we've got a translate button. Click

on that and within the blink of an eye

it auto translates from English to Hindi.

Now of course with any translation it's

not going to be perfect it does use the

Google Translation API but you are

getting something that's around about 95

percent better than what you had before

which was an impenetrable language to

native speakers of another language to

something that you may call the pidgin

English version of the translation. Now

we have titles and descriptions here

what about tags? If we go back to the basic

info on our video we can see all the

tags that we have here for our video in

English if we tap on the translate

button here it's going to also translate

all of those tags into Hindi as well. I

can choose to add individual tags here

or add all of them. For the purposes of

this testing we're going to add the top

one here and another tag

and close this box and you should now

see those two new Hindi tags added to

our total complete tags for our video.

We've gone over the limit here so we may

have to tweak our tags a little bit for

optimisation but that's your crash

course in how to translate your tags,

titles and descriptions into any other

language to better serve your

international audience. During this

tutorial you may have seen the word a

vidIQ Pro mentioned a couple of

times and that is part of our $10 a

month of paid service. If you can't

afford vidIQ PRO, that's absolutely

fine. There's plenty of tools you can

still use with vidIQ basic which is

completely free. The main purpose of this

video is to raise your awareness of your

global audience. People watching your

videos may not be a native speakers of

your language so any way to help them

enjoy your content more is always going

to be valuable not only to them but also

to your views and watch time enjoy the

rest of your video making day and we'll

see you all again soon bye for now.

How To Make An Engaging "How To" Video? - Duration: 5:56.

What's up Self Made? Kris Krohn here. Grant Thompson. Good to see you. In this

video, we're going be talking about how to make how-to videos more engaging. Hey,

Kris and Grant my name is Phil Blah and I'm just curious how can I make my

videos more engaging? I'm just getting started out and so I want to kind of

bring the audience a little bit more with every single video I put out. So

yeah, that's my question. How do I make it more engaging? Alright guys so you're

making a how-to video. How do you make the how-to video right? Is there a proper

style? Is there right way to do it? I think the answer is yes. We're going to talk

about that today. Kris you've made some how-to videos haven't

you? Yeah, but you know you and I we do how-to videos totally different, right?

Like my how-to videos are like, "how to buy a house for no money down". Yeah. Then

I'm like, "well, here's how you find a house, as it really surprises. Here are

the things that you say to people to negotiate. Here's what a contract looks

like." You know making that engaging, especially when that's really boring for

people with less diverse specific reason. You know for us, I think we're changing

it backdrops, we're actually going to like a whiteboard and like trying to

simplify like, "4 steps, do these 4 things. I'm a fan of visuals.

I love visuals like, "let me show you a contract or pull off the calculator or

hey, I'm online look at this house. Let's crunch this simple equation. Boom, boom!

Hey, this is not a good deal, boom, boom! This one is. Can you see it?" So I think any

time you can get movement, change a scenery, either draw something. Change

the medium of how it's being. I think for my type of how-to videos works really

good. But frankly, I'm actually really interested in how you make a how-to

video more engaging. Because dude, you're making stuff a blown stuff up.

Yes, right. We've blown up! We're blowing it up and hopefully you will too.

Metaphorically speaking. Now, here's the thing, we do make how-to videos. We're

more on the project side but whether it's informational or product or project,

I think it's all very much the same. There's just basic steps. Now what I've

noticed, feedback from my subscribers and channel audits from some authorities on

the subject, is that how-to videos work best when you just go right into it and

speak as an authority on the subject? We've had videos where we got in. It's

like how to do this and we're actually figuring it as we go and things get kind

of long-winded. That's not the way that used to be done. When a how-to video

starts, it should be like, "hey, in this video we're showing you how to make

this and then literally get right into it. Here's the materials you need. Step

one, step two, step three, we are the final authorities on the subject and if you

follow these steps, you will have this as well." You know tips you see and so you say that

because like seriously, my wife loves to show me whenever she's on Facebook,

someone keeps posting these videos of like how to make a cake or a baked

something unique. And what they do is they time-lapse it. They just show

you all the ingredients going in really quickly but you can see the steps and

it's like because they're keeping pace with my attention span then I'll watch

the video. I think we live in a world that if you're showing someone how to do

something and if you show them too slow, you risk losing them. Showing somebody

too slow could also include going off on tangents for getting into things that

are irrelevant. So if you're not just following a concise order of step one,

step two, step three, you're going to lose people's attention. Either retention

rates, going to drop your watch time, rates going to drop in your video, won't get

suggested. It's all I got to say about that. The other thing that I would highly

recommend is doing what I call a pattern interrupt. Now, this is what a pattern or

up might be. Like what the freak is Kris doing right now? Literally, if you just

sit and talk at the camera the entire time for 10 minutes, that might get kind

of boring. So like move your body or like seriously check this out. I have Grant

the video or maybe Grant has me. I don't know which right now. We have each other.

But the good news is like for me when I do a video by myself versus with

someone do for me, this is like way easier to talk. It's way more engaging. I

can like take a break, I could poke fun, I could punch him like a punch bag. But

seriously, that pattern interrupt is if you feel the energy getting stale or

you've been too long on one thing, dude, switch it up. Change motions. Like I know

in your videos. Like you guys have a lot of cut scenes and jump scenes from that

we made this, now we made this, then we made this. And it keeps like that's why

I'm engaged to keep watching you. My kids spend hours watching your channel.

That is awesome. Thank you for the watch time. Alright, I just want to mention

that we have noticed, we actually have different styles on our channel which we

didn't actually realize before. We have videos that are how to's. But then we

also have experiment style videos where we're trying things maybe for the first

time and experimenting with it. And I think pattern interrupts and playing off

each other's personalities are very appropriate for that when it's more

personality based. When you're looking at how two people

are in it because they want to know how to. So I would suggest concise to the

point ,get over and done with it as quickly as you can. Deliver on the

promise and you'll keep people engaged. I think the last thing that I want to

share on that is what you just said about deliver on the promise really

comes to - can you actually produce the byproduct on a how-to? What's the best

way to do that? What it is actually more information based ,be thinking in terms

of social proof. Who do you have that's actually done it or completed it or says

that they've done it? You know I've done a string of my videos for example on how

to do a lease option in the real estate game. But guess what I do is I bring

someone on camera that's done it and can tell you, "hey, I actually did one of these

that helped me buy my house. It was awesome." The investor comes on and say, "I

was so happy I could supply that opportunity for them. I made money was a

win-win all around." So make sure you deliver fully on what it is that you say

you're going to at the end of the video. And only deliver at the end of the video

because people will watch it until they get the expectation met and then they'll

stop watching. So you can strategically get more watch time by placing it at the

very end. Like for example if you're no longer watching this video you've

probably got what you were looking for or not. Hey, guys if you're still watching

hopefully that means you were fully engaged during this video. We have more

content we'd like to share with you. We have a whole course on how to build

awesome YouTube videos that spur engagement that lead to monetization and

residual incomes for you. Go check it out. Links in the description.
