Polyglot video(11 languages with sub): my favorite websites and YouTube channels - Duration: 20:00.

Hello, if you are watching this video it's probably because you're interested

in foreign languages. So actually me too and I'm making this video to share with

you a couple of websites and YouTube channels that I use to improve in my

languages or to maintain my level or actually to have fun with languages so I

hope that at least one of these websites or YouTube channels can help you in your

foreign language learning process.

The first web page that I would like to introduce to you

is meetup.com. This website is a platform for making groups and

for participating in different kinds of events. Meaning that there are for example

travel groups, language groups, groups for computer science and a lot more

and by participating in the events you can find people who share your interests

And so if you are for example learning a language you can practice it with them.

for example, every time I travel to a new city I try to

participate in a meetup, for example in a language event, or in a hiking

to meet local people, to make new friends

and also to practice my languages. So I think this site is

very useful for me. But if you are learning Spanish and you have a level more or

or less B1 or B2, I can recommend you a YouTube channel to increase your vocabulary

The name of the channel is "Curiosamente". It 's a Mexican channel that has

many videos about very entertaining topics especially about

science and curious facts.

For example: Which came first? The chicken or the egg?

or what differentiates the Aztecs from the Mayans? So you can find

very interesting videos on these topics in this channel and another advantage of this channel

is that all its videos have subtitles in Spanish. So it can be very useful for

a person with an intermediate level in Spanish.

Now I would like to talk about a TV programm that I like very much.

The name of the program is "Karambolage" and it is broadcast on the well-known TV channel "Arte".

This program deals often with the cultural differences between Germany and France.

It is to say that the cultural peculiarities and curiosities of the two countries will be introduced

and then compared to each other. The subject of the program

can be a tradition, for example "Schuhplattler"

That 's a traditional dance from Bavaria

Or it can be a historical event. It can be an object that is

used in France but is totally unknown in Germany.

Or it can be a word: where does the word "Kiosk" come from? Or what 's the story behind the word "bikini"?

I think this program is very interesting and also very rich in vocabulary.

I think if you want to expand your vocab in German or French

through funny and interesting videos, and also

promote your general knowledge of the French culture

or of German culture, Karambolage is the right program for you

And if you watch the videos on the

website of Arte, you can add German subtitle to the videos

So, that was it, in German

Now I am going to continue in French and first I would like to introduce two YouTube channels

that I use to maintain my level in French and to learn informal words and expressions.

One of the channels is "Cyprien" and the other one is "Golden Moustache"

What I like about these 2 channels is that they have a lot of funny short films and comic videos

on different subjects. Their characters in these videos talk usually very fast and

they often use familiar language. So If you have a good level in French

It could be a good challenge for you to try to watch the videos and try to

understand them without looking at the subtitles.

But on the other hand, if you have started to learn French

only recently and you would like to use a channel that could help you in your learning

I recommend "Français avec Pierre"

Français avec Pierre is a YouTube channel created by a French teacher

who regularly posts high quality content

You will find on his channel, grammar, expressions, false friends, advices, stories.

There are even cooking classes for French learners.

I think Pierre is a good teacher. He explains clearly and articulate words very well

and he also puts French subtitles on all of his videos

which could be very useful for a French learner of B1 or B2 level.

I think that 's all I had to say in French

Now I would like to talk about the site which perhaps

has been the most useful site in my language learning. The website is

conversatinexchange.com. It is a simple but a very efficient site to find a partner anywhere in the world

to do a language exchange.

I think this site is part of my method for learning languages.

When I want to to learn a new language I start with a little grammar then

I learn the most commonly used words and phrases in that language

and immediately after that I look for someone

to speak and to practice the language.

For example, If I feel now comfortable with Italian it 's thanks to a language tandem that I did on Skype

with an Italian many years ago.

She helped me not only with the Italian language but also taught me many things about the Italian culture.

and this language exchange was the beginning of a great friendship.

and that 's my other reason to do language exchanges.

Now I would just like to add another thing.

Whenever I do a language exchange through Skype

I always like to share a document, a google doc with my partner

So every time an interesting word or sentence comes up,

I ask my partner to write it down for me in the document

This way I can review the word or the sentence later.

If you are learning Portuguese especially Brazilian Portuguese,

you can benefit Philipe Brazuca 's videos.

He has got a blog and a YouTube channel where he teaches Portuguese to Spanish speakers.

In his videos he gives tips, useful vocabulary, colloquial expressions and false friends etc.

His videos are entirely in Portuguese. So I find them appropriate for a person with B1 or B2 level.

One thing I really like to do is learning languages by using subjects that I like

for example I like watching funny videos of the channel "Parafernalha"

The actors of this channel usually speak very fast

and use colloquial and slang words and expressions that are common in Brazil

so sometimes I need to read subtitles to understand what is happening in the videos

But only their Facebook page has subtitles

So if you want to watch the videos, it 's better to do it on Facebook

Recently I found a very interesting YouTube channel by chance.

The name of the channel is "Rota Poliglota. It is made by a polyglot Brazilian couple.

They travel to different countries and make very interesting videos about

the country, its culture, its history and the gastronomy of the country

The channel has currently 4 or 5 videos but I think it has a lot of potential

that 's why I will continue watching their videos.

I can also speak with the Portuguese accent and I like this accent very much

And whenever i am with my Portuguese friends I try to talk to them in this accents

and to use the words that are used in Portugal.

But unfortunately, I don't have any website or channel with Portuguese accent to share with you

So if you know any interesting website or channel from Portugal, write it please in the comments. Thanks a lot.

Thai is probably the most difficult language I have ever learnt.

because it 's so different from the other languages that I speak

I think if you want to learn Thai, you should begin learning the Thai alphabet

as soon as possible in order to be able to understand the pronunciation rules

For example. I watched a couple of videos on YouTube

that teach the alphabet and the pronunciation rules in a funny and interesting way

in order to learn how to read and write.

I also do language exchange with my Thai friend on Skype

For any language that I learn I try to watch videos with subtitle in that language

while learning Thai I found a YouTube channel that has subtitle both in Thai and English

The videos are made by a Thai YouTuber who is famous in Thailand

because he inspires many people with his videos.

There are also very good YouTube channels where you can learn useful words and sentences

They are from Thai YouTubers that teach their mother tongue on the Internet

I recommend you to use these channels if you are learning Thai.

To improve in my Dutch and to be well informed about the worlds events,

I sometimes read online Dutch newspapers.

but I find it more fun to watch "Zondag met Lubach" instead of reading the newspapers

Zondag met Lubach is a dutch satiric TV-show

It reviews the news of the previews week. But in a funny and entertaining way.

You have probably seen one of the episodes of this program.

It was after Donald Trump 's inauguration

This satiric TV-show had the creative idea to use Trump's words

to introduce the Netherlands to him. It was very funny

and went right away viral and had a huge success.

Now I want to recommend you a great Dutch TV series

that helped me a lot to learn new Dutch words

The name of the serie is "Vlucht HS13". It has an exciting and intriguing story

with good actors and I find it very useful and great that it is available online

with Dutch subtitles. So I recommend you this series if you want to

increase your vocabulary in Dutch and improve in your Dutch.

Unfortunately I can not give you any website or any YouTube channel to learn

standard Arabic if you are a beginner in this language.

Because I learnt it at the beginning at school and after that I learnt

a big part of it with language books. But if you have a good level in Arabic

and if you can read the Arabic letters you can use the YouTube channel "Audiolaby"

This Channel contains videos and articles in standard Arabic with subtitles.

And these videos and articles are about various topics and they are full of

words and sentences that you could use in daily life

and for this reason I use this channel

to practice speaking and to do language exchange with my Moroccan friend on Skype.

And my second way to learn standard Arabic and

to enjoy it at the same time is by watching my favorite childhood cartoons

And these cartoons are based on famous international stories

such as "Silver Plates (les Misérables)" and "The Story of Perrine(sans Famille).

And there are plenty of these cartoons in standard Arabic on YouTube.

And I watch these cartoons and not any TV series

because most of series in Arabic countries are in dialects.

Finally, if you know other websites or channels to learn standard Arabic

please let me know in the comments of this video. Thank you very much.

The next website I want to introduce is "50 languages".

This site contains 100 lessons or 100 situations for example

in train station, in hotel, at work etc.

and each situation contains the important sentences

that you would need in that situation.

and it works like that: You should choose 2 languages of 50.

the first language is usually the mother tongue and the second is the language you want to learn.

Then the important sentences are shown against each other and they will be read

once in the first language and twice in the second language. You can use this website directly.

or you can download its app to use for example its flash cards

Or you can do what I l prefer to do with it:

I choose 2 foreign languages

for instance Arabic and Thai

Then I download the audio files of this language combination

and whenever I am outside, in a train or in a bus, I listen to these audio files

and after repeatedly listening to these sentences for one or two weeks

I will be able to retain them in my memory. And I think this website can be a very useful

for somene who wants to review one foreign language

and at the same time learn another from a low level or from scratch

I began to learn Catalan with a very slow rhythm

because I was afraid to mix it with my Spanish

I learnt a little bit of the grammar from the web page parla.cat

and then I did language tandems with my Catalan friend. She recommended me to watch

programs of the channel TV3 of Catalonia and especially two series: "Infidels" and "Merli"

through watching these two series I could learn all the words I needed to talk fluently

Now I would like to talk little about Merli. Because it was the series that I liked a lot

Merli is the name of the main character in the serie

who is a philosophy teacher. He is very rebel and innovative and

does his class in a very different way from other teachers. In each chapter of the series he introduces

a philosopher and his thoughts. And that is the subject of the chapter

which also relates to the events in the life of another character in the series.

So, I think if you want to enjoy a high quality series to get hooked on,

that makes you laugh and at the same time improve in your Catalan, watch Merli

Another think that I generally like about the Channel TV3 of Catalonia

is that you can add Catalan subtitles to all its movies and series.

NEVER FORGET - Motivational Video - Duration: 2:07.

Let me ask you something.

What makes you so special?

I mean, what seperates you from everybody else?

There's this culture in modern society that we're all special.

They teach us that we're great just for participating.

That winning doesn't matter.

That finishing the job doesn't matter, as long as you start.

But where does that leave us?

Because when you grow up you enter a harsh reality that you aren't rewarded just for

showing up.

If you can't show up on time for work, they don't reward you for showing up at all.

They'll fire you for not being there on time.

If you want a new car, but can't afford it.

You ain't buying that car.

They won't let you have it just because you can almost afford it.

They'll sell it to the person that can.

We want this, we deserve that.

But the truth is, the only thing we deserve is an opportunity to earn everything we get

from this world, and if you aren't willing to earn whatever it is you want, if you aren't

willing to do it for yourself, to reward yourself.

Why would anybody else do it for you?

If you can't respect yourself enough to go out there and get whatever it is you want,

how the hell do we think other people will respect us enough to do it for us?

They don't care if we succeed, or if we fail.

Whether or not we're special, unique, great, however you want to say it, is soley determined

by our willingness to earn that title.

When we're born, we're nothing but a number, a spoke in the wheel.

And when we die, the wheel keeps turning.

But why be another spoke in the wheel when you can be the whole damn bike?

Make yourself irreplaceable.

You know what everybody else is doing right now?

Sitting back, accepting where they are, and where they are, is being comfortable.

But you know when they'll be very uncomfortable?

When they're old and gray and have to realize, the clock keeps moving forward.

Whether you move with it or not.

Time's ticking.
