My name is Annette Danek and I'm the Senior Vice President of Fulfillment

for Penguin Random House.

We receive about 25 trailers of books across the country from printers each day.

When a book is received in it is unloaded from the trailer, put on the dock and then

checked into our system.

A put-away driver will scan that bar-coded license plate and will tell them where to

put that pallet in one of our 110,000 different pallet locations where that could go.

They take that there and it is in its home until ready to be picked.

Once the inventory's in the warehouse we then need to have orders

in order to start the picking process.

Picking is the process of gathering together various titles from a customer order in the

most efficient way possible.

Rather than picking each order individually the way we're able to pick efficiently for

the many independent bookstores is that we're able to batch the orders together by title.

Once those orders are batched together by title then we induct those onto our

tilt-tray sortation system which then sorts them back out

by their individual customer.

Once the books are in the box a label is placed on the outside, bubble wrap is put inside to

protect the books and the box is on its way to shipping.

Orders arrive at the shipping dock and are sorted by geographical location.

Then they are stretch-wrapped and loaded onto trucks to be transported to customers.

AMADA Customer Case Video - Squadra Electric [ESP] [ENG SUB] - Duration: 4:34.

Squadra Electric was founded in 1993

by several people coming from sheet metal industry

We are located in Utrera, 30 km away from Seville,

in the south of Spain.

We know Amada since we started in sheet metal industry

and as soon as we could, we started to use Amada machines.

We had a very good experience working with Amada solutions in the past.

Our main activity is subcontracting.

Beside that we also make some other specific products by ourselves.

To our customers, we offer laser cutting, punching,

bending, welding, assembly and painting.

We can make both finished products and semi finished products.

The materials we use to deal with are various:

mild steel, stainless steel, galvanized, aluminium, etc.

The reason to move to the new LCG CO2 we realized that we were becoming

less competitive in small thicknesses in relation to our competitors investing in Fiber Lasers.

This situation was analyzed together with Amada

and they suggested as an optimal solution for us the new LCG CO2:

in small thicknesses we would be able to compete against fibre laser.

So, with the new LCG we will be competitive in all thicknesses.

A specific issue solved with the new LCG CO2 is that,

in the past, we were only able to cut laser quality aluminium (more expensive).

Today we can cut any kind of aluminium with a very good cutting quality.

We, as well as our customers, save money.

With the new LCG CO2 we have a better cutting quality,

high productivity and reduced electricity

and gas consumption.

Thanks to LCG CO2 the future of our company

is clearer in terms of being more competitive.

We hope that, in the short term, we will increase

our subcontracting production as well as being able

to send our production abroad.

In the next years, our intention is to place Squadra Electric in markets

where today we can't compete.

And we are sure the new technologies

purchased by our company will help to achieve this.

In addition, we have signed a Full Service Contract with Amada.

The technical department of Amada collaborates with us

when, for example, we need to cut a material we haven't cut before.

After these months of working with the LCG CO2

we consider it has been a great success and an improvement in our factory.

So, we trust in Amada and will rely on them

to bring us new solutions in the future.
