Hello and welcome to PLA 300 – Portfolio Development for Prior Learning Assessment.
My name is Holli Broadfoot and I will be your instructor for this course.
Adult students like yourself, come to college with a lifetime of knowledge, learning and
experience.
PLA 300 is designed to guide you through the process of documenting and credentialing this
college-level learning you already possess.
Each week, through course readings, discussion boards and individual assignments, you will
work on identifying your own areas of learning, reflecting on those areas , learning and applying
learning theory, preparing a learning narrative, and gaining the tools so that you can put
together portfolios which you can then use to petition for college credit.
As you can gather, there is a lot to learn and accomplish in 7 weeks.
Work each week is a building block on the previous weeks work, so it is important that
you stay on track in the course.
Each week you will have assigned readings, one to two discussion boards , and one to
two individual writing assignments.
To get off to a good start, please read the syllabus that is found under the Course Information
link and familiarize yourself with all the course requirements and assignments so you
can stay on schedule.

This is a zero textbook cost course, so there is no cost to you for your textbook.
You can read the it online or download it for free.

My job and goal for this course is to support and help you be successful and to help you
take another step toward earning your degree.
