I'm sorry my darling, but there's a new man in my life!
So for those of you who have been watching my videos for the last few
weeks, you'll know that one of the things I was trying to do to help reduce my
workload was to outsource the editing process of my vlog. The last couple of
episodes that you've watched have actually been edited by somebody else! So I
found somebody on upwork.com. I found a few people actually, who are really good
and we went through quite a rigorous process of screening. Idid a sample
project where I sent a sample episode to them, they went away and did
the editing and then send it back. I gave them some feedback, they went
away again and made some revisions and sent it back again and
then I did a Skype call and I reviewed things like
punctuality, how good they were at communicating, how quick they
were to respond to my messages - all that kind of stuff and I found two
or three people who fit the bill perfectly.
But I started working with one guy and I'm really, really pleased with his work
and you'll probably notice that the last couple of videos maybe look slightly
different - maybe got a slightly more professional feel to the editing
side of things. From my perspective it's really nice now, I can write the
outlines for what I want to talk about sit down and film the episodes, set up
the equipment record what I'm going to say and I simply need to upload the
video file onto Dropbox which I've shared with the editor and he goes away
and makes the edits. The last couple we've done, they've had a bit of
back-and-forth where he sent me a low-quality version to review, I've
given him some feedback, come back again a bit more feedback but I
feel really confident that that process will become really streamlined over time.
I think this will be the third video is edited for me so maybe after
six or seven videos, I feel confident that that process there won't be
so many questions because he'll know exactly what I want and how I like
it and I feel like he's the kind of guy
who's really gonna add some value to my work as well he's a very
creative guy - I'll probably actually bring him into one of the episodes in
the future if the relationship turns out to be a good one but we'll see how it
goes. Just a short video today and I'll see you in the next episode.
