6 Pokémon Based On Creepy Yōkai - Duration: 5:53.

One of my favorite video games has always been Pokemon.

I think what I like most about it is the variety of Pokemon that you can collect, each with

their own unique personality and abilities and many of them with interesting backstories

that were sometimes a little dark for a children's game.

Eventually I learned that many Pokemon are inspired by mythology from around the world.

Some of my favorites are based on supernatural monsters known as yokai, which have been a

part of Japanese folklore for centuries.

Yokai take many forms, they can be human-like or take the form of animals or they can even

look like inanimate objects.

It's easy to imagine how they could have influenced the creators of Pokemon.

So today I thought it would be interesting to talk about six Pokemon based on yokai.

Number 6

Misdreavus, based on Nukekubi.

The nukekubi are a kind of yokai who appear human during the day but at night when they're

asleep, their heads come off and take on a life of their own.

Picture a disembodied head that floats around scaring people, sucking blood and causing

all kinds of mischief.

When the night is over, the head returns to the body.

Often times nukekubi are cursed women who are unaware of their supernatural power and

wake up feeling like they've just woken up from a nightmare.

Misdreavus is a ghost type Pokemon who is also a disembodied head that flies around

scaring people.

It's said to get it's nourishment from fear, absorbing energy into its red orbs.

Misdreavus is also known for it's shrieking, which may have been influenced by tales of

banshees.

Number 5

Exeggutor, based on Jinmenju

The jinmenju is a type of tree that bears strange fruits that look like human heads.

The fruit are said laugh when they become ripe and fall to the ground.

Although they are rarely eaten by humans, they supposedly have a sweet and sour taste,

much like a citrus fruit.

I don't know about you, but eating a fruit shaped like a human head is not really all

that appetizing.

Can you imagine it looking up at you as you bite into it?

This legend actually originated in China and later spread to Japan.

It's pretty obvious that Exeggutor is influenced by stories about jinmenju, as the Pokemon

is depicted as a tropical tree bearing fruit with faces.

Number 4

Mawile, based on Futakuchi-onna, the two-mouthed woman

Futakuchi-onna is kind of similar to the nukekubi in that they are women who have been cursed

for some reason or other.

In this case, the woman develops a fully functioning second mouth in the back of her head.

Her hair acts like tentacles that grab food to put in the mouth.

The mouth can also speak and often tortures the poor woman by constantly asking for food.

Personally I think this is one of the weirdest Pokemon, it just seems so impractical and

strange to have this giant mouth in the back of your head.

Number 3

Whiscash, based on Namazu

Namazu is a giant catfish that is responsible for causing earthquakes when it trashes around.

It lives under the islands of Japan and is guarded by the god Kashima.

After the catastrophic Edo earthquake in 1855, Namazu prints became wildly popular in Japan.

This particular print shows a deity that fell asleep while guarding the Namazu and thus

allowed the disaster to happen.

It also depicts Kashima returning on horseback too late to stop the giant catfish from causing

the earthquake.

Oh it also shows a thunder deity engaging in, uh, thunder farting.

The influence on the Pokemon Whiscash is obvious.

It's depicted as a catfish and it's original pokedex entry reads:

An episode of the Pokemon anime featuring Whiscash was actually banned because of earthquakes

that occurred in Niigata prefecture shortly before it was slated to air.

The episode remains banned to this day.

Number 2

Dunsparce, based on Tsuchinoko

The tsuchinoko is a small snake-like creature with a central girth that's larger than its

head or tail.

They were first mentioned in the Kojiki, which is actually the oldest known book in Japan.

This yokai is kind of interesting in that it's also a cryptid, since people up until

today have reported sightings of it.

According to legend, tushinoko are able to speak and have a propensity for alcohol.

They're also said to be able to jump and to swallow their tails in order to roll around,

similar to the fabled hoop snake.

The influence of this can clearly be seen in dunsparce's design, as he resembles a tsuchinoko

and has stripes and wings like a bee.

Number 1

Drowzee, based on Baku

Baku are spirits from ancient Chinese and Japanese folklore said to have been created

from pieces that were left over when the gods finished creating all the other animals.

They have an elephant's trunk, a rhino's eyes, an ox's tail and tiger paws, however they

are also depicted as simply being tapirs, which are real animals related to horses that

live in South America and Southeastern Asia.

Legend says that when a child wakes up from a nightmare, they should call out to the Baku

three times by saying, "Baku-san come eat my dream."

Kids have to be careful when doing this though, because if the baku is hungry enough, it will

also eat the good dreams as well as their hopes and desires.

Drowzee's very first poxedex entry states that it is able to eat people's dreams, however

it differs a little from Baku in that it only likes to eat pleasant dreams and becomes ill

when eating nightmares.

Well I hope you guys enjoyed this list.

I want to do a more in depth episode about yokai in the future because I find them really

interesting and weird.

I mean, they can range from scary to just plain funny.

For example, there's one that's literally just a giant hairy foot that crashes through

peoples' houses and demands to be washed.

you how to make these funfetti donuts

now the first you want to start off with

a large bowl I have a box of cake mix

i'm using white cake but you can use

regular yellow cake it'll be fine either

way I'm going to take this box and i'm

just going to open up and pour out into

my bowl next what I need to do is add 1

large egg

one cup of water and a quarter cup of

oil what i also have is a quarter-cup of

sprinkles these are just colorful ones

you use whatever color you want add

those in there and we're just going to

blend this up really now we're just

going to take our batter and we're going

to put into a piping bag so we're only going

to do about half of the batter at that

time because it's a lot unless you have

a really big piping bag now I have this

special baking sheet it's actually a

donut baking sheet you can get it online

or you get any craft store up the link

below if you want to get ahold of it and

I'm gonna take it I'm gonna spray it

with some cooking spray

next I have my batter and I want to cut

a pretty large hole out of this so I'm

going to go right about here and just

want to fill about halfway your little

baking sheet here

after that has been filled up what you

can do is just tap it down lightly on

the counter and it will

flatten it out a little bit then we're

gonna take this bake this in the oven

at 350 degrees for anywhere between 12

and 14 minutes now we're going to make

our frosting for donuts and what I have

here is two tablespoons of melted butter

and then i have one and a half cups of

confectionery sugar and what I'm gonna do is pour

about half of this into the butter also

going to add about a third of a cup of

milk so we're just gonna mix this up

really good then we're gonna slowly add

the rest of our confectionary sugar

and if you just want it to be white

there you go there's your frosting I'm

going to color this two different colors

ok so just gonna separate this right now

about half in this bowl and I just have

here some pink food coloring now you can

use red food coloring but you have to be

careful use just a very little bit of it

and that way it doesn't get to red

and the next color i have is teal blue

and when they come out of the oven let

them cool for about five minutes in their

pan after they cool for about five minutes

it's still warm but not super hot we want to

take these out carefully so we don't

mess up their shape that's what they look

like we just put them on a cooling rack

now you just want these to cool for

about 10 more minutes or so just so they

don't fall apart we're trying to dip

them into our frosting now that my donuts

have cool down completely what I want to

do is dip them in we gonna do three of them

in the blue and three in the pink so

we'll start one color out of time

take my doughnuts and I'm gonna dip only

the top part into the mixture here so

we'll just take it dip it in

and there you go now what I'm going to do

is take some of my sprinkles there's

still a little wet but it's better if

you do this right away after you dip them

and we're going to put some sprinkles on

the top so now it's time for the taste

test

I'm going to dig into this blue one here

and try it out

this is good it tastes a lot like your

cupcake to be honest with you but it's a

fun way to make donuts

30 years ago the Tartempion family disappeared in the Bouconne Forest

A mystery that has never been solved.

I am standing at the entrance to the Bouconne Forest, where exactly 30 years ago

The Tartempion family disappeared without a trace

We don't know what happened to them and we have never found their bodies.

Some people believe that their spirits still haunt these woods,

and that every year on the night of Halloween, they terrorise people out walking.

I will now interview this old lady.

What do you think about all this, Madam?

Oh it's very worrying, you really must not come here on the evening of Halloween.

For 30 years now, the same things have been happening, so very worrying

it's dangerous in this forest, something is very wrong!

Ahem. Well, that's not so reassuring!

I wasn't happy with how I looked I

literally had no energy and I just felt

like shit all the time. So, then I had an

epiphany sort of thing and I changed my

diet and got a gym membership and things

slowly got better. Quite honestly

I could end up making a whole other video about all

that mumbo jumbo, but for this video I'm

going to be showing you guys what

supplements I'm currently taking how

their use and their benefits. Just so you

Hello & welcome to my new video!

I just wanted to talk a bit in this video here & give you some news what's up at the moment

And I wanted to tell you everything about our new project

Maybe you saw it already when you also follow my instagram

I hope you enjoy the video!

Before I start with the main stuff, I want to talk about the question why I didn't upload videos recently

I need to admit that it was really long now. I think around 3 months since my last video

The last one was my ComicCon Vlog

I thought I wouldn't answer on this question anymore and I also don't need to justify the reason for no videos

But I also know how it feels to wait for a video

And that's the reason why I just want to say it again: I make this videos just for fun, to entertain you, show you my dolls and this cosplay stuff

But I'm not bound to it

So when there are no videos for longer time, it has reasons. Maybe I'm just not motivated or there isn't something new in the doll-world

or whatever

But I will definetly always upload videos

Because if I would stop making videos I would definetely tell you, but I don't think that this will happen

As I said already, recently there's nothing new about dolls

I got two new dolls, Dance Night Musa & Colour Magic Stella

I also made to both of them an unboxing, which I didn't upload

In the unboxing from Dance Night Musa I didn't realised that my camera memory card was full

So the camera didn't record the video and repeat an unboxing is kinda senseless

And by the Colour Magic Stella something really strange happened

She came and her head was broke off

I heard already that this can easily happen for the dolls in this line

But I was very upset in this video

First of all I thought I should upload it, but then I thought it's really silly, because you can't really see my reaction

Okay, I think I said everything what's up my videos now

Now I will talk about the main topic in this video: Our big project

As I said already, the people which follow my on Instagram maybe saw it already

The name of the project is: Magical Winx Club

First we didn't want to give it a special name, but then it just came random

And I think it's kinda cool like this

Maybe you saw it already: Me and my Stella, which you know from my other videos and two other girls

Including AnneOfWinxClub, you know her for sure

Will do this 'Magical Winx Club Cosplay' Project together

We will visit the conventions, where I was only with Stella until now, together. We are Bloom, Stella, Flora & Musa.

I'm looking forward for this , also because I wanted to do something together with Anne for so long

I see this as great possibility to connect our channels in a cool way

I also think that a lot of our subscribers will like this idea

I will put you all links in the video description, from all of us girls and our instagram site

Most of the designs from our site will be made by me, but also Anne will assume some.

Dreams From My Father REVIEW (CC) - Duration: 6:07.

Hi everyone it's great to see you back on my channel

today I have another book review I'm

going to be reviewing Dreams from My

Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance by

Barack Obama. I did not know this but the

book was originally published in 1995.

Basically what the book is about is it

shows our 44th President in his life

at an earlier age. A story and a side of him that

I did not really know at all about

I knew that he grew up in Hawaii for a

bit but that's basically the extent that

I knew before I picked up this book.

It shows him being raised by his white

grandparents, it shows him moving to

Indonesia with his mother, and it shows

him visiting his father's family in

Kenya, and it also shows him sort of

coping with the death of his father who has

been absent for his entire life. So it

was sort of a more raw and vulnerable

story in that sense because kind of get

see how he deals with those thingss and you

see it from his point of view and

can kind of pick his brain in a sense.

I think my favorite aspect about that is that not

only did I get to see a younger version

of the man who is idolized in this world

but I kind of got to see how he deals

with things like from his thought

processes and how he deals with solving

problems and everyday situations. What I

found was that he does an amazing job at

looking an argument from all sides. He

really tries to figure out why the thing

is the way it is before he tries to fix

it and that was both refreshing and I

don't know just like an insight that I

haven't had before. I was able to see two

different things essentially: I was able

to see him

his successes and a lot of times the

victory that he's the little victories

that flew in the face of stereotypes and

statistics and during those parts I felt

like my own sense of like little victory

but I also saw another side of him where

he was very humbled and he knew that he

was a lot more privileged than a lot of

the people that came into contact with

and growing up a bi-racial kid in the

time he did wasn't easy but he was

definitely able to show that he did have

it easy in a sense and that was

something that I really was grateful for

because it was it would have been very

easy for him to make out a lot of...

it would have been very easy for him to

just feel like play the victim and he

did not do that so I don't know for some

reason that resonate with me and makes

me feel like he was a very good... he was very

humble in writing this story I also

feel like in the stories that show

when he was in the inner

city in chicago trying to be a community

organizer you can kind of see the

reasons behind his actions before he was

a politician before any of that- the

reasoning and the thought processes that

he goes through in order to take the

actions that he feels is appropriate to

better the lives of others just for...

for bettering the community in general

and that is also something I feel like I

wish I could have seen that before he

became president and I'm kind of sad I

didn't read this before then but looking

back it's definitely something that I'm

glad that I know now and it gives me

more insight into the reasons why he has

taken the actions he has as president- I hope

this is making sense I feel like I'm

rambling but you kind of get to see that

process in it's raw nature he

doesn't hold back from that I think that

this book's did a really good job at

making him seem more human.

He's obviously a human- but I mean like

taking him down from his pedestal and

his celebrity status and bring him back

to being a regular guy growing up much

like the rest of us. And for that I

feel like the book had a sort of

inspirational aspect to it. I'm just gonna leave it at

that. Oh! I do have a couple of quotes

that I wrote down. It's kind of hard

listening to audiobooks and writing down

the quotes that you really enjoy is kind

of hard by still managed to write a

couple down: it says, "I think perhaps

education doesn't do as much good unless

it is mixed with sweat." Something about

that quote just stuck with me.

It has stuck with me since I first heard

it. For some reason that quote just stuck

with me I think it's always going to

stick with me. To cut this short

I really enjoyed the book. It gave me a

lot of insight into his life and I just

really enjoyed that

like I feel like I got to know good ol' Barry a

lot better and I would recommend this to

someone who is interested in sort of

getting to know his life and how he grew

up and perhaps of just a little bit more

about our 44th President. He's an amazing

man I am not one to shy away from saying

that I absolutely loved him as President

and so yeah. That's basically it. Thank you
