- For me home is taking off my makeup,
putting my hair in a bun, putting my pj's,
grabbing my puppy and sitting on the couch
and watching Law and Order SVU.
(upbeat guitar music)
♫ Maybe it's okay to want this
- For me home is also very similar,
it's all about just being comfortable,
so it's sitting on the couch with my husband,
the baby, the dog, having like a warm meal
and just being in the comfort of my own home.
So warm, comfort, is what home is for me.
So Nora, tell us about your childhood home.
- My childhood home was very comfortable.
We lived in a nice house
and my mother, I would say she
was a strict mother, was very disciplined
and she disciplined us to be very clean in the house.
Like, we were not allowed to walk on the carpet
with shoes on, we knew that.
The bad side about that is I'm kind
of the opposite of my OCD mother now.
(Nora laughs)
- For me home, when I was growing up was very comfortable.
We lived in an apartment
and I shared a room with two brothers,
which I hated at the time.
But now looking back I feel like it really
helped me have a really good relationship with my brothers.
They tortured me, as all older brothers do
and I feel like I have such warm,
fond memories of my childhood home.
There's no mistaking that my home is my home
because it's very much my aesthetic.
I love grays, whites, blues,
kind of like that tone of colors
and my entire home reflects that.
I have a lot of black and white prints
going down my stairway of photos I've
taken while we've been traveling.
And slowly all the photos in our home
are being replaced by photos of the baby.
One by one they're just like being swapped out.
- I want to say the most me area of my home
is my living room and my kitchen.
First of all, my entire home is an open layout.
So my living room and my kitchen are in the same room.
The living room I love because I spend a lot of time there.
A. watching Law and Order SVU
(Nora laughs)
and B. it's because of honestly
the paintings I have on the wall.
I have a globe and I have pictures
of everywhere my husband and I have traveled together
and we're just expanding on that.
Goal is to basically take over the entire wall
and be places that we've been together.
And the kitchen is my second favorite place
because first of all, I love to cook
and I love to entertain.
When I'm entertaining there's music on in my house.
When people are coming over, I just want it to be
a whole fun ordeal
and I think I've accomplished that.
- The first ten minutes of my day
is one of my favorite parts of the day.
My husband makes really, really amazing coffee
and he brings me coffee in bed,
which is ah my God, you have no idea
how much I appreciate this cause most
of the times I'm up during the night with the baby.
So, I'll spend ten minutes in bed drinking my coffee.
I won't look at my phone, I won't answer emails,
I won't even reach for my phone
and I have that like five, six, seven minutes
of just peace, quiet and coffee
before I move on to my hectic day
of you know working, checking emails,
taking a shower, getting on the grind.
But that first few minutes of the day, ah, peaceful.
- For me, I want to say I have two
first ten minutes of the day because
my husband wakes up way before I do.
He wakes up around 5, 5:30, 6 around that time.
I have to encourage him to get up and go to work.
I'll be like, "You can do it, it's okay,
yeah, let's go. Sooner you go, sooner you come home."
Then I go in for my round two of sleep
and then I wake up around 7:30, 8
and at that time I like to just sit in bed,
grab my phone, look at my phone,
catch up on the news, my emails, all of that
and then once I get up, I'm up.
- I have so much makeup, that it literally
took over my bathroom and my bedroom.
So I decided that I needed to consolidate all of this
and I turned the guest room in our home
in to a like a little makeup studio section.
So I have all of my makeup on one giant desk
and I have this amazing mirror in there
and I'm trying so hard to minimize it
but I have drawers full of makeup,
I have cabinets full of makeup, it's a problem
- My bedroom design I want to say is really loud.
The wallpaper I know is pretty out there but if you know me
and you know my personality, I would like to say
I'm pretty out there and I'm pretty loud and full of life.
And I have a chandelier in my room
because I feel like chandelier is life.
You need to have chandeliers everywhere.
- We chose to shoot our ModaMob videos
at Nora's house because she has spare room.
- It's very simple.
(laughing)
- So we literally took the spare room,
which is what we're in right now.
- And Ani and I love going to
furniture stores.
- We love it.
- So we were at CB2 one day and I saw this piece
and we had to have it.
- Everything else is very much our aesthetic.
The whites, the mixed metals, blush colored tones.
It's very much our personalities.
- One thing that helped us is Pinterest.
Pinterest is your best friend when you're decorating.
- It really is.
Nora and I love to travel together.
But I have to say one of our most memorable
trips together was a New Year's that
we spent in Rio with like eight of our friends
and it was one of like the best, fun,
experiences of our lives.
Best New Year's ever.
- Ani and I are the master minds of getting a trip,
a group of people to go somewhere really far together.
- We literally got a trip together in 15 minutes
and got everyone on board to go.
- Yeah, it was a very memorable trip.
- Best trip.
So what do you love about working together?
- Um, you know, they always say that
it's really hard working with your friends and family
but I think that is true, however, I think working
with Ani for the last decade I want to say, has-
- 11 years.
- Has brought us closer together.
We started working together when we were friends,
but now we're just, now we're family.
I'm the godmother to her baby
and ours dogs are married so.
- We're going to have a wedding soon.
It's just different when you work with your best friend.
It doesn't feel like work.
So, it literally feels like we're just
hanging out all day, laughing
and coming up with like great, fun ideas.
It just doesn't feel like, "Ugh, I have to go to work."
Like I'm so excited to come to work
because I get to spend the day with her.
- I did a video alone once because
Ani was away for that week
and I was having really low day, like a bad day
and people, our viewers noticed that
and they left comments,
"Nora, are you okay? Do you miss Ani?"
And that meant the world to me actually
because I feel like they know us
and they know our personalities.
- 2017 is going to be a great year
for ModaMob, we're really excited about
all of the opportunities that are ahead for us.
- We're one of the rawest people I know.
- Yeah and we're going to spend our
year inviting in to our homes
and you know, giving you guys
a better glimpse of who we are.
♫ Heading home
