Pansexuality - LGBT+ Video Series - Duration: 1:44.

Hello and welcome to the LGBT+ video series.

My name is Helen Clegg my pronouns are she/they and I'm the Trans and

Non-Binary Officer for the LGBT+ staff network Salford Proud here at the

University of Salford. The LGBT staff network is for LGBT+ staff members

and for allies. This video series aims to be an informal introduction to a number of

LGBT+ identities, allowing allies to learn a little bit more about the ways

the LGBT+ people may define themselves and also what that label

might mean to them. A quick reminder that all labels are for self-identification

and it can be quite rude or hurtful to use a label for someone who doesn't

identify with that label. So just make sure that you check with that person

that you're speaking about or to, to see if that label is okay to use for them.

In our last video we discussed bisexuality and how some people may define it.

Today we're going to discuss Bisexuality's little sibling, Pansexuality.

in Latin, "pan" means "all", so pansexuality can be defined as being attracted to all genders.

Some people may define pansexuality as a type of attraction that transcends or

surpasses gender, or that gender doesn't even factor into a pansexual person's attraction at all.

Whilst not a new term, its first usage can be seen in 1917,

Pansexuality as a label is growing in popularity. 51% of LGBT+

people in a US survey chose to categorize themselves as not gay or

lesbian, with labels such as pansexuality and bisexuality being more popular.

This shows that more and more people are embracing the fluidity of sexuality and

the fact that we have language to describe these experiences is amazing!

For more information about Salford Proud and the University's Inclusion and

Diversity team, please see the description box below.

See you next time!

Learning Egyptian Arabic in 60 Days - Our Day 30 Video - Duration: 5:17.

Hello, good evening!

Good evening!

How are you, Jo?

Fine, thanks [praised be God] and... thanks.

You can ask me...

(and you?) I'm fine. I'm fine. Thanks.

OK. OK. After a month, roughly

Like, after 3... 30 days

here in Egypt, what do you think of Egypt?

I love Egypt a lot

The people are very nice

and

the places...

The places what?

the places are...

The places are nice!

Beautiful?

Beautiful.

And the food...

The food is delicious too.

Um...

But...

It's a little...

crowded and noisy.

but I only

visited in...

I only visited Cairo and Aswan.

OK now, Dana...

Hello

Hello

What do you think of Egypt?

My opinion on Egypt?

I like Egypt, but especially except...

Except Cairo.

Cairo is big. It's a big city

and crowded, as you said

Ummm....

Like, I like a lot about big cities

Especially the food

All the food is very delicious

We are very fortunate

We can eat kebab and coffee pretty much every day

without exaggeration, like, every day, kebab

like that's... amazing.

You mean Cairo is crowded.

Right?

Yes, Cairo is crowded

Aswan is... is...

not

Not crowded?

And apart from Cairo and Aswan

Where have you visited?

I've visited ... In Cairo I've visited

Khan al Khalili (a market) and

the Citadel of Salaah ad-diin

and the Pyramids, and in Aswan

I visited... I went to Abu Simbel

and

it was amazing.

Mmm, amazing (pretending I know this word)

And that's it.

And what do you think of life in Egypt?

Of life?

Of life.

It depends on...

the meaning (vague mispronunciation) but

I mean

With regards to me, life in Egypt... like, with regards to me.

I'm a foreigner here

Um... And I... like... the

Ease! Easy, for me.

But for most people in Egypt

especially the Egyptians

I...

I feel that life is a little harder

There's a lot of bureaucracy

um. And...

And... there's pretty much no money. No work.

And... yeah. Difficult.

Yes.

I think so too.

Mm. OK. And...

Between all the places...

Which place the most you love? (sic)

Of all of them?

I...

I was amazed by Abu Simbel

in Aswan

The temple and

the insides were

very pretty

I didn't believe it.

Thank you!

And what do you think of government?

The government?? Oh, of course

I love the government

In the whole world, I have never seen

a better one than

the Egyptian government. I love it, I love it a lot. A lot a lot.

A different question please.

OK, OK.
