Students are coming to the aide of their teacher, who resigned after a video of her pulling

the hair of a sleeping student went viral.

Lisa Houston, who has been teaching at Palmetto High for 27 years was seen standing on a students

desk, patting his face nudging him with her foot and pulling him by his hair in order

to wake him up.

The clip quickly went viral, with many people appalled at the teacher's behavior but her

students are saying that the news was sensationalized.

After the video went viral, Houston decided to immediately resign but her lawyer says

she experienced a forced resignation.

Students are calling for her to get her job back since the video was misinterpreted in

their opinion.

According to The Root, students marched in support from the school to the district office

in a "prayer walk," and have been using the hashtag #iftheyfirehoustonwehaveaproblem on

social media.One post online said,

"Context matters.

The whole story matters.

Standing up for one of the best of teachers matters.

And, oh yeah, sound matters.

Bowing to sensationalism can net you many things; tonight we're seeing the people

speak very loudly.

Sadly, though, my school has lost one of its best."

The boy in the video who the teacher was playing with wrote a letter himself.

WLTX reports,

"You can tell that she was playing with him.

Even the boy himself wrote a letter that he knows she was teasing and he loved her.

They just jumped the gun on her, and I don't want to be a part of it."

Houston insists that she was merely joking in the clip.

Still the school district continues to say that she stepped down on her own accord.

Bala Cynwyd, PA: A video tour - Duration: 3:01.

Hi, I'm Jennifer LeBow and I'm a realtor here on Philadelphia's Main Line. I

specialize in helping buyers who are relocating here from other areas. I

realize how hard it is to get a sense of the different "feels" of our Main Line

towns when you're just looking at a map or even property listings online, so I

thought it might be helpful to take you on a few little mini tours of our

Main Line communities and give you an overview of the different towns and a

look up and down some of the streets. So let's go!

So what's Bala Cynwyd like? Well, first of all, it's the easternmost town of the

Main Line immediately to the west of the Philadelphia city border but entirely

within Lower Merion School Distric,t one of the most highly-rated in the state. It

takes about 15 minutes to get to Center City and about half an hour to the

airport, so for people who will be commuting, need to catch a plane or like

to attend sporting events and other activities in Philadelphia, Bala Cynwyd

might be a good option. Shopping in Bala Cynwyd is mostly

"need-based"''--not a lot of high-end retail, but it has the basics. We have two

terrific libraries and the township pool complex--a big draw in the summer--is

located here as well. As far as housing styles, Bala Cynwyd offers a fairly

diverse range. The majority of homes here are single-family, often of stone and

they usually sit on between a quarter and a half an acre. Other than a few new

homes here and there, most of them are around 50 to 100 years old.

One of Bala Cynwyd's most popular neighborhoods is called College Park,

where the streets are named for colleges. People love this area because it is very

family-friendly with wide, mostly flat streets that have very little

pass-through traffic. Lots of people walk dogs here and there are book clubs and

babysitting swaps around, too. These houses are among the most expensive in Bala

Cynwyd and tend to be fairly large, older stone homes. Immediately to the west is a

neighborhood right by both Bala Cynwyd elementary school and Bala Cynwyd middle

school, so if walking to school is a draw, this is a great choice. Belmont Hills, one

of the most affordable sections of Bala Cynwyd, has its own distinct feel that's

almost urban in character even though it's right next to a very suburban-style

neighborhood with fairly large, mostly split-level homes. The Cynwyd Trail is

also a big selling point for this area. On the bed of a no-longer used train

track, the township paved a wide area, leaving a dirt trail along the side for

mountain bikers and dog walkers. There's no cars allowed, so it's a great place to

teach kids to ride bikes, jog or take a walk with a friend. It also connects to a

terrific park and playground with a ball field, basketball and tennis courts. Bala Cynwyd

offers great schools, the easiest main line access to Center City Philadelphia

and the airport. The majority of the houses here are stone Colonials and most

neighborhoods are described as very family friendly.
