Hello! This is Aaron with Yesterdays Games and today we're gonna be playing
some more of Mudrunner and we're starting out here just where we left off
last time, we've delivered all the logs we need for that lumber mill, I'm taking
a look at the map trying to figure out where I'm gonna go next, we have
one more log kiosks that we have to fill on this map. so grab the truck, throw it
into reverse and we start making our way that
direction. same place that we started out in the last episode but
it's full daylight. we can see the little bits of black smoke coming
out of the truck there, we could see the trees that I'm trying to crush, but yeah
so we turn around, we're making our way over here, I had to make two trips
with this same truck, making its way through a little more water here,
but I had to make two trips with this truck and this time I'm thinking
"hey, you know I don't really want to do that" so I'm gonna take this truck over
and get him set up at the log station, I think I'm gonna set up another truck I
have that just has a utility box on it. I'm headed straight
for a big ole' puddle cuz that's always fun, but I'm gonna set up another
one I've got a utility box on and... it's always nice to listen to the
sound of that water as we go through
but I'm gonna get him set up and probably put the same type of log setup
on him as this one, but I think I'm gonna leave this one
with a crane on it, so we should be able to park this guy in a good location to
where I can not only get logs on him but I get logs on the other truck as
well. so coming around the big curve, kind of going for the little route to the
right, pushing a downed tree out of the way, splashing through the
water again, these things... we move quite quickly when there's no logs in the back,
which I suppose makes a lot of sense... bringing him down out of high gear,
chugging through a little more mud, I'm gonna take the branching path off to
the left here, over towards the fuel station, because again these are...
trucks do get a bit thirsty. so I think as we pull up here
there's that old rusty looking fuel tank that has some
Russian lettering and stuff on the side... there we go 91 liters
refilled, taking a peek at the map again, it's not a place I want to go and
get turned around right here close to the end. we've got our little
fuel tanker out there as well, but yeah I'm thinking here I'm gonna
put a spot up there on the road where I'll go and park this guy, this truck...
and we're off, in a high gear, not the highest gear that
we have, but high enough. we have a low, medium, and high gears and
we have a plus one gear. I guess the only thing that's really to notice that if we
go into plus one from a stop, the engine will stall on the truck, so ideally start
out in this one and you shift up as the as the terrain allows which is
the same with switching between a diff lock and all-wheel drive
and everything. so coming up here we can see our little fuel truck just coming
through a little puddle, well I say a puddle, probably would come up to the windows
of any other car, but these trucks will plow right through this water and
be cleaning off those wheels, at least for two and a half
seconds until we get into more mud. again taking a peek at the map, kind
of assessing situations where I'm going "okay I could see the
logging station I want to go to on the left" looking at the different kiosks
that we can go to and I decide upon one that's over on the right side
further to the right because we've got a big stretch of road that we
drive on with the trucks and that'll be much, much easier to deal with. I seem to
be doing some deep thinking about that, so we'll continue along... so up ahead I've
got a puddle to the left and what looks like an off-road
hill on the right here, so I'm gonna keep it straight
and go straight up the hill on the right.
just a few down trees, it looks like it's it's okay... but
unluckily for me, there's some really deep mud in this area and I'm
committed I'm going and the truck is sinking in deeper and deeper and
making absolutely no progress. oh and there the front wheels sank even deeper
in there, I've thrown it into reverse and I decide, okay, we're just gonna
gonna turn the engine off, grab the fuel truck who's right behind there, so
we switched to him and I decide that this is a good opportunity for me
to go and get some fuel to fill up my fuel truck here, before we
go the whole route of going and getting that other truck unstuck out of the mud.
so I turned off the engine of the truck and he's just unhappily sitting
there, mud coming up to the running boards, but we're back in the
fuel truck, which is a six wheeled truck, a big ole orange fuel cistern
on the back. it's the same color and it probably has the same words as
the other one, but not reading or speaking any Russian I still have no
idea, but it moves along quite nimbly. we can see we've got a big old spare tire
nestled just behind the cab, I swing it around the fueling station,
there's a dashed line square on the ground that you can pull into,
so I do a big three-point turn, pulling this truck around, in reverse, pull
in here, so fill up the truck that I have and then we'll go ahead and fill up to
the thousand liters that we can carry in this thing our believe is 1,200 liters..
throw him into the high gear, all wheel off, diff lock on, put it into
the plus one gear, because again this thing... actually, trucks handle a little
nicer when you have some weight on the back, a byproduct of the
suspension on these trucks is that when they don't have any weight in
them, they tend to be a little bit, they tend to bounce around quite a
lot, which I believe is mirrored in real life. so again into the
water and this truck is handling it beautifully. it's a six wheel thing
of a different design of the other truck, but I don't know all that much about
Russian logging trucks, I couldn't tell you what the specific differences are...
it's got a tan colored cab instead of a green one, so I'm coming up to my
logging truck, he's on the right stuck in the mud there, I wisely swing
to the left to him far enough so I'm not gonna get this truck stuck as well.
crunch over a little tree here that's been downed, so this is the other part of
the game that's neat, we have access to a winch system, so I press
Y on my gamepad, let's bring it up and I attach to the front of that other
truck. now the nice thing is they do give you a little help where the other truck,
its engine comes on he's gonna, there's gonna be the AI hitting the gas
on that one, but I throw it into the medium gear and there we go the fuel
truck is struggling along through there, but I can see the other truck
making its way out of there and we've got him free!
I decide to just leave them hooked up here, until we can get them both over the
road, because it'll save me 10- 15 seconds or so to just stay in this
truck, drive him over there, my logging truck is happily enough chugging along
behind me getting a free pull along, I've gone ahead and turned off the
all-wheel drive on the fuel truck cuz we don't need it.
we do have four wheels in the back, turning plenty fast.. so we
slow down a little bit, turn the all wheel but drive back on, just to get
through the rest of this mud, but just about made it... just about and there we
are, our front wheels have touched down on that tarmac and that's good
enough, I can see the back of the truck sliding around a little bit as we
pull the other weighty truck, so there we go we released the logging
truck, I switch over to the logging truck to pull him over here,
out of the mud, and just off on the side of the road. so there we go, so he's
pulled off there, go ahead stop the engine switch, over the fuel truck and I...
I'm gonna park him up here where I figure "okay there's
a path I can see on the map", that'll wind in to the top of where
that other logging station is and I figure, if anyone's gonna need fuel or
need to be rescued, perhaps I'll put this truck over to that
area and that'll make life easier down the line.
if I have to come in and refuel one of these guys that's run out
of fuel, or has otherwise gotten so
hopelessly stuck that I've got to go and bring another truck and to get him, that
little tiny path up above, that I'm gonna be using I haven't been on,
I've never seen it, so I don't know exactly what I'm gonna run
into out there, so we shut that truck down, I'm taking a look at the map again
and I've got set a way-points down to where there's a little river crossing...
and we switched back over and start up our logging truck, I'm happy to leave him
in automatic as we are on the tarmac here, all that shifting but I don't have
to do it, which is quite nice because normally, otherwise, I do shift
manually with this thing when I'm off road.
so we're cruising along here making fantastic speed and we're just now
passing the fuel truck on the right, "hi fuel truck guy" and I give them a little honk,
through a block post. there's these block posts out there that force
you to not take the easy route when you have trucks with logs on them. so
we're passing, there's a little path on the left there, that's where we're gonna
take soon... a nice little truss bridge that we're cruising across...
and I said it's nice, it's it's about five o'clock, time passes in this game
quite quickly I want to say it's a minute passes every three or four
seconds, so it's not like it's not one-to-one by any means, so here we go
we've reached our spot that we'll be turning off the road here. I've learned my
lesson in this area, in this spot particular, one of my smaller trucks when,
I was playing this map earlier, got stuck here... so off the road, over a little hill,
push a few tiny saplings out of the way and we've approached the fast-moving
River! I can see another truck of ours just
across the way, but I leave my truck in high gear, engage all wheel drive, hear that water
splashing up against the truck, taking a little bit of damage but slowly, slowly
making our way through, it's a quite a serious thing crossing rivers, so
I've slowed down a little bit but we keep the throttle pinned
and we're through it! we did take a little bit of damage, I mean that was a
single point of damage and I've got, I want to say, 600 that I can deal with, so
no reason for me to have to worry about that.
I do decide to stop next to our other truck which is of the same, I believe the
same make as our fuel truck, but I repair both of those trucks because he has a
big utility cab on there, so again consult the map, figure out what
which turns I've got to make, but that truck there,
I'm gonna be retrofitting it to carry some logs. but we're here, it's
less muddy, you can see some deep wheel tracks here, this seems to be
a fairly well used path. I'm making a right turn up here up a hill
here, while all-wheel drive is on, diff-lock is on, I see lots of broken branches and
and felled trees in the area, you can tell that there's been some logging done
certainly
yeah, this is almost easy unless you get off the path too
much, to where the trucks really like to track into these wheel
marks, I've got him in high gear, diff lock is off because if you are using
diff lock on a hard surface and the wheels are not able to turn at different
speeds, as they do sometimes, you can actually damage the truck and the
transmission that way, so here we are we are, into the logging area and I'm
going to swing really wide with this truck and hopefully get
him right next log kiosk, which is our place that we spawn those logs down,
working through that mud and everything over on this side. there we go,
so it's gonna have to the non insubstantial thing of...
I'm backing up a trailer, which is always a bit of a mess up when I... oh! go ahead and
jackknife that, yeah as you see anyone who's had to back up a
trailer, putting their boat in the water or something like that, it is not for
the faint of heart. but anyway I think this is approaching the end of
our second episode here, and in the next one we are gonna retrofit that
other truck and I believe take this truck and that truck, full of logs, over to
where our log kiosk is and be able to go from there. but thank you! if you enjoyed
this give it a like down below, thanks for watching and we'll catch you in the
next video :)
