Waching daily Feb 5 2018

Hey guys, I'm Eszter and I love learning languages.

I made this channel to show you what languages I already speak

and how I learned them in a quick and fun way.

As you all know, I'm from Hungary,

my only native language is Hungarian

and I lived in Hungary until I was 18.

The first foreign language that I started to learn was German when I was in kindergarten.

I was 5 years old but we had the opportunity to take German

and I was determined to convince my parents to let me enroll in the course.

So I went home and I tried to convince them

but they were like "No, we don't think you should do this,

it's just too expensive and you don't really learn a lot in kindergarten, you can just start later".

But on the next day when we went back, I saw that the kindergarten teacher was there

and I asked my mom very loudly like:

"Mom, are you gonna pay for my German lessons?"

I knew that she wasn't gonna say no and I was right.

So this is how everything started.

I started to learn German in kindergarten and then I had it for 8 more years in school.

In the meanwhile, I started to learn English.

At that time I was a huge fan of The Vampire Diaries

and I decided to start learning English because I was upset a lot of times that I didn't understand what they said.

I watched it in English with Hungarian subtitles

and then one day I bought a notebook and I wrote down everything, on the one page in English and on the other page in Hungarian.

I learned the whole episode by heart, I would learn the different words, expressions, the grammar, everything.

And at that point I decided that I should start watching everything in English.

So I watched a lot of movies, TV-shows, series, everything.

Two years later when I went to high school, I took French,

which I had for 4 years, but I realized that learning French just in school and doing my homework

would not be enough to get to the point where I wanted to be.

So I used the same method and I watched a lot of videos, shows and movies in French.

When I was at the end of 10th grade, I started to have a huge passion for Norway and the Norwegian nature,

so one evening I went home, I looked at what the language was like

and I decided to start learning Norwegian as well.

So these 4 languages are basically the ones I feel quite comfortable speaking now,

but at some point I've also learned a bit of Arabic, Russian, Indonesian, American Sign Language and Swedish.

And there was one more language that I started to learn a year ago, which is Romanian.

And I will do a separate video in which I will explain how I learned this language and why exactly I did it.

When talking about languages with people, a lot of them tell me that

they either don't know how to start learning a new language

or that they're afraid of speaking and afraid of making mistakes

or that they think that they'll never be able to learn a new language in their life.

So this is why I started to make this channel,

to give you ideas on how to find sources,

to tell you exactly what you can do if you want to start learning a new language,

to give you every-day tips and show you what methods I used

because if they were effective for me, they might be effective for you, too.

Last but not least, I want to show you that language learning is not something that's supposed to be boring and difficult

and something that you have to do,

but something that you want to do

because it makes you see the world from a different perspective

and just because it's a lot of fun!

Thank you so much for watching this video

and make sure to check out the next one

in which I will explain what exactly you can do of you want to start to learn a new language.

Bye, guys! :)
