And one of the most important things that I've learned along the way is the

value of time. So it's understanding what your skill set is finding the right

place to use those skills and then going for it. What kind of a story to tell in

one minute. That ability to get myself up in the morning no matter how tight I was

to push myself through those pain barriers.

You know hard work pays.

Continually find more ways to use our time while trying to find more ways to save it.

In the same workplace its like someone's trying to take it all away from you.

You see you can't actually save time you can just find different ways to spend it so when

you say you don't have time to do something you're really saying that

you're using your time for other things.

One cool thing about time is that it

continues on at the same pace despite how busy we get.

A Message from Cecile Richards| Planned Parenthood Video - Duration: 2:13.

Twelve years ago, I joined Planned Parenthood to fight

for a world where every woman can live her best life.

Together, we've built a movement to protect

and improve reproductive health.

And I could not be prouder.

Today, I am announcing that I will be stepping down

from my position as President of Planned Parenthood this year.

From my first moment at Planned Parenthood,

I have been in awe of our brave doctors, clinicians,

staff, and volunteers who provide care

to one in five American women.

And to all of you who count on Planned Parenthood,

know that this organization will be here for you

no matter where you live, how much money you make,

who you love, or where you come from.

Planned Parenthood has been part of the fabric of this

country for one hundred years, and, thanks to you,

it'll be here for a hundred more.

This last year has been one of the most inspiring of my life,

as longtime staff and supporters marched and rallied

alongside brand new activists, like Deja Foxx, a teenager from Tucson,

who fiercely defended Planned Parenthood to her

U.S. Senator; or Gina Walkington, a Planned Parenthood patient

from Bristol, Wisconsin, who got involved last winter

and is now organizing thousands in her community.

Deja and Gina are just some of the 11 million

supporters who embody Planned Parenthood's mission.

Planned Parenthood has helped tens of millions take

control of their health and their futures by providing

birth control, pap smears, breast exams,

STI testing and treatment, and safe, legal abortion.

Today, America is at a 30-year low for unintended pregnancies,

and historic lows for abortions and teen pregnancies.

This is one of the most important public health

success stories in history, and it would not have been

possible without the life-changing – and lifesaving – work of Planned Parenthood.

It has been an incredible honor to be part

this organization — as a patient, as president, and now,

as a lifelong supporter and champion.

I will always be committed the goals we share.

Thank you for supporting me through the years

and for carrying on this important work.

Jerry L Johns Philanthropy Video - Duration: 2:07.

(music)

If you can read,

you can learn. It unlocks the world.

For a half-century, Jerry Johns has been a teacher of teachers.

As a renowned reading professor at Northern Illinois University,

He taught more than 6,000 students over 30 years. Every step of the way Jerry's

partner has been his wife of 53 years, Annette. Together they've devoted their

lives professionally and philanthropically to advancing literacy, education and the arts.

They live here. They're part of the community. They're deeply embedded

not only in the life, with almost a DNA of the University and I think that's

just part of their own DNA as human beings. They care about learning.

Thanks to the generosity of Jerry and Annette Johns, we've really

elevated the clinic not just locally but nationally. We've been able to really

expand our footprint in the community in terms of providing literacy services and

we've been able to build on our core which is training reading specialists.

Now that I've become a teacher I'm gonna make a difference in kids lives every day.

and being here at the clinic has showed me that teaching is for me and I love

making a difference in children's lives.

With the help of the Jerry Johns literacy presentation

endowment, several students travel to present their

research at professional conferences each year.

Jerry's not necessarily in my classroom and with my

students, but he's affecting my students every day.

Because of the work that I'm doing, I can go back and share that with other people

on my team and other classroom teachers.

Philanthropy doesn't always have to be big gifts.

Those smaller gifts over time

can make a giant difference.
