This is how to practise Jodan Uke - Video 1/3 Practising on the spot - Duration: 3:31.

Hi this is AJ from The Digi Dojo.

I am about to shoot a tripartite videoseries.

It is about Jodan Uke.

It will be divided into three videos.

In the first video

you learn how to use two stances to practise Jodan Uke.

In the second video, we look at twisting your body.

This is called rotation.

How you can connect Jodan Uke to it.

In the third video, body movement will be used.

In that video, two stances will be used.

Similar to this video.

The stances to use are Naihanchi Dachi

And Shiko Dachi.

Naihanchi Dachi allows you to twist your hips well.

In Shiko Dachi, your hips is turned in a different manner.

It creates a certain immobility.

According to Yokoyama Kancho, your centre line comes very thin.

This helps to squeeze your centre line.

The first method..

Take Naihanchi Dachi.

Start with Jodan Uke

This is called Jodan Uke Gamae.

It's pretty easy.

Drop your arm..

Take over with your other hand.

Keep your elbow down.

And your other elbow inside.

Not only mind my arm movement.

Check my timing.

When do I speed up?

How much do I turn?

What about my stance?

This is the first technique that you should practise.

Because this is so fundamental.

It is a very simple method, but therefore so effective.

This allows you to really learn the movement.

Shiko Dachi has another function.

Practise this anyway.

If you know that you tend to move a lot..

If you know that this is your bad habit..

This stance can help a lot.

To keep your centre line straight.

It is good practise anyway.

After using Naihanchi Dachi, open your feet.

To Shiko Dachi.

Repeat the same movement.

You can increase the tempo if you like.

You can change the emphasis.

Change the timing.

This depends on your level.

I don't know your level or experience.
